Game of Thrones is SOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD! It took me months to convince my Gf to watch it with me and after she got really into it, the swords started to fall and she almost stopped watching. It took me another week to get her to watch the finale. I haven't gotten a chance to watch the premier yet but I'm pretty stoked.

Funny thing Carina, I used the twilight saga movies as an argument to get her to watch something that I liked. I've been dragged to all of films in the theatre, lucky for me I bought a flask for that precise situation...

Male Half-Orc Cavalier (Gendarme)/5

I read the first few chapters of the book for GoT and couldn't get past the horrible writing. I've heard the TV series is much better. I've never seen Twilight but I did go to Hunger Games with the wife, very decent movie.

Male Human Wizard 4 (hp: 33/33 AC: 13, FF: 12, T:12)

My 11 year old son want to see Hunger Games. What do you think about the violence level and the general content for the pre-teen?

Male Half-Orc Cavalier (Gendarme)/5

Having no kids I hesitate to say. From what my wife tells me they toned down the violence from the books. While there are images of children killing each other, for the most part the deaths either take place off-screen or are not lingered on or made gory for the sake of gore. If I had to compare it to a recent movie I'd say close to the recent Marvel movies on the violence level and just a little bloodier. It's not graphic violence but they do show the effects of violence, so when somebody gets shot with an arrow or cut with a sword you'll see the cut but it won't be spurting blood or spilling guts. A lot of the deaths are a quick motion and then the cut to another character's reaction to it rather than the actual act itself.

Male Human Wizard 4 (hp: 33/33 AC: 13, FF: 12, T:12)

Thanks, James.

That agrees with what I've heard. In the end, I think I am going to have him finish reading the book first. Once he finishes it, then I will probably let him.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

I would be hesitant to take your kid to the Hunger Games. I got dragged to it, and actually liked it, but would not allow my kids to go for several years. Yeh, I am probably overprotective, but really do not think that it is a movie that should be seen by pre-teens, or even teens in my opinion.

Zorestar, give me a call if you have any more questions on it.

By the way, why do we have a dozen OOC posts, but no IC posts today? We have a Staglord to kill.

Go find a movie called Battle Royale, realize t's pretty much a direct rip of that movie, and then understand this author was kind of usckered into letting this movie be made and hyped up long before her book even sold a hundred thousand copies.

I swear one of these days I'm gonna finish that novel and rake in my couple mill.

Male Half-Orc Cavalier (Gendarme)/5

Having seen Battle Royale and read the comics I'll have to totally disagree about the rip off part, although it does share a few concepts.

I've really been meaning to see Battle Royale. I hear it's awesome. Hunger Games is a quick and interesting read and a pretty entertaining film. At the very least I have a new celebrity crush so I'm thankful for seeing it.

The film isn't super violent blood n' guts. It's pretty dark and I'd say it earns it's PG13 rating rather precisely. I agree with Jameson in saying it's a bit bloodier than the Marvel films of the last year.

Sooooooo.

Anyone else pumped to see The League of Handsome Shirtless Gentlemen I mean The Avengers this summer?

Should be a good one. Joss Whedon behind the helm and a pretty decent cast means it'll definitely be a money maker. The only comics I've read, and I think I've mentioned it here before, is The Walking Dead but I'll probably end up seeing The Avengers (Though The League of Handsome Shirtless Gentlemen is much more fitting).

I did genuinely like Thor and the first Iron Man was really good. I wasn't too blown away by Captain America and all of the Hulk movies have been pretty lacking, IMO. Still, it's on my list of movies to see this summer.

Male Human Bard 4

wow Jameson, I honestly find George's writing damning enticing. It has kept me through some of the more boring books (Feast for Crows, I'm looking at you!).

I read the books a couple years ago, payed like 6$ for each paperback on Amazon. One of the best deals I've ever made (for I spent a good five to six months reading and rereading them, and my girlfriend has taken to read them too).

That said, I always thought there were some glaring similarities between the Song of Ice and Fire saga and the general 'mood' of Brevoy. My players were quick to point some out when I presented them with the Inner Sea book. That actually got them to like it more.

Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

I am intrigued by the walking dead, seems like a good series from what I've heard. Speaking of walking dead been playing a lot of dead island with Alex and it's just as I thought but far better. Like boarderlands it's only fun with a friend or more but boring alone.

@Zorestar & Carina: On the whole issue of if a film was too violent or not for kids, it's your choice as parents as some kids can be more mature than others but since I don't know your kids I can't tell you which was on that subject. I will say it does sound similar to battle royal and I most likely will draw comparisons when I see it, but for it to be a 12 (the EU rates go Uc, U, PG, 12, 15, 18) I doupt it's anywhere near as violent as battle royal. Eitherway, in your position it would depend entirely on the kid since I personally saw a lot of 80's horror movies when I was like 11. Nightmare on Elm Street (one, two freddy's coming for you.), Halloween, Friday the 13th and that's cause my mum likes horror films, but she hates the sight of blood. Bit of a paradox really :p.

On the subject of Battle Royal I've never actually read the book (slow reader really and so many books to read) but I've seen the movie and read the manga. I perfer the movie as it didn't make the teacher look like a sadistic pedo and the manga seemed to want to make every death in the story the most violent and horrorfying deaths you'll ever see. Heard the second one is okey where those that escaped in the first movie rally a resistance against the government.

I'll definantly be seeing the Avengers. In fact if I have a job by then I might just buy a ton of Avengers comics to read, already got quite a few. I'd perfer justice league over avengers just because Batman is so awesome, plus I loved reading the comic where someone stole all of batman's contingencys for all the superheroes on the planet if they were ever taken over by darkside. They weren't very happy knowing their companion had devised ways to kill/cripple every member of the justice league :p. Oops...sorry fanboying there :p In short, yes, yes I'm looking forward to it as long as they keep the guy who did the Fantastic Four AWAY from it.

Really Alex pointed out the kind of political turmoil in brevoy was like game of thrones. I didn't pick up on it cause I was more focused with what people were doing rarther than the overall political issue, which drive the story on though not in a boring way.

Also...down with the Lannisters! Long live the Starks!

Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

no they're two of the noble houses in game of thrones. There are more, though I can't remember their names.

Ah - they also sound a lot like english football teams. Spurs, Gunners, Latics, Red Devils. Figured the Lannisters and Starks were just other teams.

Mwk Composite Longbow [+2 STR]: 300gp 100 base + 200gp STR + 300 mwk = 600. 600/2 = 300

Storytelling purposes, Ganit will take Beaufort's bow and sell the one he's been using. They're identical in all technical respects but I think this one would have more value than that of some bandit turd.

Something to consider: if we were to sell a single arrow back to Oleg we would have about 4000g store credit for it. Idk if Pathfinder is different than 3.5 in terms of magic ammo, if they are than please correct me.

I'll try to post in the IC in a little bit. My son is aggressively keeping me from the computer but nap time is only 60 minutes away...

*****EDIT*****

Nvm. I found where it says ammo is priced for 50 pieces so it would be 8005gp for a full pack. Making a single arrow worth 160.1g (8005/50) so that would sell for only 80.05g.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Yeh - animal bane arrows seem like a waste. But who knows. Old Staggy might have some pet wolves or alligators or kangaroos or something. Then it would be nice to have them to quickly eliminate the threat.

Fair enough. I figured we could spare 1 when I had a momentary lapse of judgement and thought they were basically slaying arrows and therefore worth something.

Look at it like a cheap and easy investment. I like making use of such arrows when made in batches of less than 50 in order to cut costs on such specific arrows. I really like bane arrows and weapon blanches for ammunition.

Truth. I've had half a quiver of silver blanched arrows since I started the campaign. I've just never found 'Animals' to be particularly high priority on my 'Bane list.' I'm happy to keep them though. I just figured we could part with one when I thought it would be genuinely worth selling it.

When I have gold to spare, I'd really like to invest in an efficient quiver, slaying arrows and bane arrows. I'll probably keep this bow and upgrade it for a while too. I've always liked the idea of legendary weapons that grow with a character rather than dumping and swapping for a higher die or enchantment. Though at lower levels, it's really all you can do to keep yourself alive.

Male Human Bard 4

Nice that it is the perfect bow for ya - just the right amount of Str, etc.

Male Human Bard 4

If we managet to drop by Bokken's, I'd like to get a shield potion too

AC bonus + damage boost = :)

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Bron - Read my post, I want Bull's Strength+Shield for both you and James - and probably Shield for Ganit as well. Actually, we might want to get a few extra shield potions so that we can put the shield up 2-3 times as necessary for you guys. +4 AC is 20% less hits, something I consider good. Suppose getting a Bull's Strength for Ganit would not be a bad idea either. I can cast enlarge person on all of you, which would make for some serious damage. The Bull's Strength and the Enlarge Person will both last for 3 minutes, which should be enough to do a lot of damage.

Male Human Bard 4

I read Carina dear, and I'm a happy bard for it :)

I don't think neither a Bull's Strenght potion or an Enlarge Person would much help Ganit at ranged combat. But a potion of Aspect of the Falcon or an oil of Gravity Bow would do wonders! Both are 1st-level spells, also :)

Male Human Bard 4

Also, if I remember correctly, the alcohol we found on the bandit's camp is actually some small bottles of strong liquor, or something like it. We could easily take them all.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

Yeh - forgot about Gravity Bow - a fine potion since it is a personal range spell and usually useless for the caster unless the caster is a Ranger.

"Now I unleash my greatest animal warriors. Kangaroos!" the Stag Lord grins "I got them from Steve Irwin."

Also, yes bull's strength won't have any effect on Ganit as his bow is capped at +2 enchancement and enlarge person will make him big, but the arrows will reduce in size so all you'd really do there is lower his AC by 1.

Also Bron is right, there are some strong bottles of Liquire that Kressel mentioned he loves.

Taldor

Male

Ganit needs Gravity Bow, not Enlarge Person.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

The Enlarge Person for Ganit was more of a backup. If he does end up in combat. I would much prefer he just keep shooting and taking out targets while James and Bron eliminate their big fighters.

Male Half-Orc Cavalier (Gendarme)/5

Shield also doesn't help me as I already have one. Bull's Strength is nice but Enlarge Person probably wouldn't work as I would need Donal to become Huge to carry me. Although I'm best on the charge once dismounted Enlarge does become useful. I'd first spend my 50 gp on a potion of CLW before the other potions however, as I have no native healing and my damage on one shot is already amazing.

DM Aron, as a clarification I am going to assume that you do not allow Vital Strike to work with a mounted charge and will therefore not pursue that line of feats.

Dead Island was hella fun, put about 80 hours into that game. We mostly play Dungeon Defender now.

Male Human Bard 4

Jameson, Carina was suggesting those spells because we'll probably have to fight inside the fort, and you'll probably be unable to fight mounted. If you are on foot and drink a potion of shield, that will net you a +2 extra AC and free your hand so you can wield your sword two-handed.

Female Changling(Hulking) Sorcerer - Orc Bloodline/5 - HP: 12/28; AC16,T14,FF13

James - I was thinking that you could use the sword 2-handed if shield were in effect for extra strength damage. Also, Shield gives you +4 AC which is probably better than your shield.

Also, I was figuring that the enlarge person would only be used once dismounted. You can charge people in the courtyard, but I am guessing that the Stag Lord will not be standing in the middle of an open area waiting for you to charge him. I could be wrong, but my hunch is that Aron will make it slightly more difficult than that.

Doh - Ninjaed

Vital Strike is an attack action, which is a type of standard action.

Therefore, it cannot be combined with a charge.

So what you're saying is Davek Nettles is actually Steve Irwin and the Stag Lord modified a bow to shoot stingrays? Wow Paizo. Even I find that in bad taste.

I assumed as much but wasn't sure how it interacted with the mounted bit, as well as if any house rules were in place for it. It might still be worth it to take for those rounds when I need to ride up but can't get a charge in, as ideally my fighting style is to stay mobile.

As for the Enlarge, it does make sense while on foot and in the fort, however without Power Attack (level 5 if we live) I'm almost as well off staying mounted. Ideally with a druid, archer, and two casters Bron and I would provide a wall of defense while the others down thugs and bandits in droves. The potion of Shield does make sense for a net gain on AC.

We'll see what is in stock and what I can afford, most of my money is gone to the plate mail if my calculations are correct.

Gravity Bow is one of the heavy contributors of me going with the core Ranger instead of the trapper archetype. That plus cure spells and the fact that the traps seem like they'd lose their usefulness at higher levels.

Shield is great but only has a 1 min duration which is basically 1 round. "Animal X Ability X" spells/potions could be helpful though. 3 minute duration should carry us through a chunk of the beginning of the battle.

I was thinking of taking vital strike at later levels but my next few feats are probably rapid shot, many shot and weapon focus. Two weapon fighting seems like it would be cool for Ganit. I can see him ditching the battleaxe for melee and going nuts with a pair of daggers. That's way later if at all though.

Dead Island is pretty sweet. I borrowed it from a friend but never beat it. I'm looking forward to The Last of Us.

The trailor had me on edge because I found it so odd. It's because it's been done by Naughty dog that I find it really strange that they go all serious here.

Male Orc Expert 5

I would have liked dead island more if it was as advertised and not World of Warcraft Tropical Island Zombie Adventure.

Carina, regarding the potions; I'm waiting to see what Bokken can craft us. It will be a really different spell list if he is a wizard, druid, alchemist ou even an adept or expert with master craftsman.

origonally an adept, however sincfe alchemist didn't exist when this part came out then I'm thinking of making ihm an alchemist instead.

Cat's Grace would be ideal but I can't afford any of the 2nd lvl potions. I did, however, discover that I could use the one of our CLW wands! (Source) Apparently as long as it's on your class's spell list you can use spell trigger items even if you don't have a caster level yet. So I can hold onto that nearly depleted CLW wand if needed. It's nice we have 2 wands and 3 party members who can use them. If I do take the wand than I may want to run back to the outpost to grab some smokesticks (AKA: an archer's worst foe) to guard against Stagz McOne-Hitter.

Still think we should just burn the damn thing down. 10g = 50 pints of lamp oil and 5 belt pouches. That could make 5 bags with 10 pints of oil which could burn for 10d3 fire damage over 2 rounds. (Another reason I decided to forgo the trapper archetype: toying with mundane equipment)

Even if we do want to use it for kingdom building it's probably already a ruin. May as well ruin it some more and save ourselves the trouble of a fair fight.

Just my 2cp.
