Vencarlo is found and the party now know where the Senachal is, but something still lurks in the shadows of the labyrinth, hunting them down relentlessly.

Male Human Wizard (FC) 11 - Enchanter

Curnach, can you summon a creature to set off the trap or do we need to find another way out of here?

Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

E19 on the map. There was a symbol there but last time it the end you are currently at was pointed into a wall so you saw no need to disable it or anything else.

What kind of Symbol is it? I have no more summoning magic.

from your earlier investigating you recognise it to be a symbol of sleep, activating as soon as people look directly at it and knocking out people in a large area into a deep sleep.

Llyra looks at her companions: It is times like these that having an elf as a friend would be helpful. Could you change shape to that of an elf Curnach? And if you can, would you gain their immunity to sleep?

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

Once Curnach remembered they had identified the symbol earlier, he bade everyone else stand back and once they were out of range, strode over to the symbol to trigger it after a brief blessing upon himself.

Master of Procrastination and Grognardia

The trap goes off, but appears to have no effect on Curnach and glows for a while before finally dissappearing.

You make your way through the halls with Vencarlo following close by before arriving to a all too familiar chamber with the lever. The first chamber to rotate.

MAP

This is the first place you came too and the first rotating part of the labyrinth you discovered.

Male Human Wizard (FC) 11 - Enchanter

Let's find these fake walls you were telling us about Vencarlo, we must locate them quickly and find the Senechal!

perception to assist Curnach 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23

Fake walls are at the entrance. As shown on the map you'll need to rotate the dungeon twice.

Pulling on the leaver the chambers in the dungeon all twist and turn. Vencarlo, making sure he's well within the room before the moving begins.

Jerin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Vencarlo: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (20) + 16 = 36

did you give Vencarlo everything that was in his possession? The cloak of elvenkind, the belt of Dex +2, the masterwork daggers, the rapier (Rapier I beleive you did), the armour and the rest of the stuff?

Jerin, Krenn and Curnach all fall down at the first twist, the lever locking in place again for a minute, before resetting. Once you've all recovered you pull the lever once again.

Krenn: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

Llyra:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10

Curnach: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Jerin: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Vencarlo: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24

Krenn ends up prone as the chamber rotates back to the begining where you end up face to face with the keeper of the dungeon, Sivit, who has two glowing red Kukris in her hands as she leers with burning red eyes. She also has a belt hanging around the human waist that ends where the lion body begins.

Sivit

MAP

She bows her head low to you.
"You have killed my master's son, Bahor and Virmanda. I serve the house Arkona, but they live no longer." she states raising up to look down at you all. "Who do I serve now that they are gone and no one can release me? I will serve you as I served them if let me, but I know he won't." as she says this she points accusingly at Vencarlo.

Vencarlo scoffs at this agreement.
"She is a fiend from hell! I don't care if we kill her now or leave her here to rot forever and alone, but I will not consort with their kind." Vencarlo says, seemingly in full power, even though it's obvious he can barely hold himself up on his feet, still being exhausted.

lol, just ran is numbers with him still with the exhausted condition, ouch. No one has restoration for the poor man? He makes Curnach's starting Strength look above average :p Also Krenn is currently prone so if there is a fight he'll provoke an attack.

Female Aasimar Cleric 9/Rogue 2) (HP: 93/93; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

I have a Potion of Lesser Restoration.

Nice pic, I know a number of my Calistrian sisters who would like that tail as a whip.

Seeing the condition that Vencarlo is in, I give him a potion of Lessor Restoration. I suppose we should give him the rest of his equipment, although it definitely weakens me since I was using the cloak, belt of dex and the rapier. If someone wants to keep something, let me know, otherwise I will adjust my character later today.

I'd like Paizo to take on the Darksphinx and other creatures from the Book of Fiends as a lot of them are very interesting. Anyway, Vencarlo is much better now. Now his strength is back to 9 lol

Considering I essentially told Vencarlo to stay at the rear and leave the fighting to us... Someone needs to tell him he has completely ruined our treasure breakdowns too... :P. I didn't realise a restoration was required- Llyra save the potion, I have the spell prepared.

If she is lawfully bound to serve, I do not see much harm in making use of her... Curnach mused. Who bound you here? What is your purpose? Are you truly a fiend of Hell as Vencarlo says, or are you Abyssal in nature?

Since it appears we won't be engaging in combat (at least immediately), Krenn will stow his shield and axe. Then he will rise with a wary eye on the creature. If it looks like doing so will provoke her and end Curnach's discussion, Krenn will be content to wait where he is on the outcome.

She leans her head to one sie as she looks down at you.

"I was bound his by The first Rashaka to come here, after killing and devouring the home owner. I am bound my magic and I cannot leave this labyrinth complex. My purpose is to serve the master and kill those he sends in here. Your friend is lucky he stayed alive for so long. After I kill my play things I eat them." at the mention of the abyss she spits on the floor in disgust. "Never associate me with those dumb and ugly creatures. I was born and raised in Hell, raised and bred by my duchess. Having me bound here like some guard dog angers me. I was raised to be a bodyguard, not to be stuck down here to chase humans. Many were stupid peasents not worth my time, but your friend there was very smart, very intelligent. A game of logic I havn't had in centuries."

Jerin might want to back her up on the hell thing as he got so much information off her with knowledge planes.

Male Human Wizard (FC) 11 - Enchanter

Jerin talk to them about what he know about a Darksphinx...

This creature comes from one of the deep circles of hell, said to be created by a demon duchess who was obsessed with the sphinx and created a devil in it's form. Like all devil creatures, they have supernaturally thick hide that can only be cut by weapons aligned with holy energy.
They are hardy creatures that are immune to poison and living in the environments of hell have gained a resistance to acid, cold, electricity and fire.
Being based on magical creatures, these things have resistance to all magic being cast against them.
Now what to do with this thing...

She smiles at Jerin

"You are mostly right. Duchess Hadriel was obsessed with sphinxs, but failed in creating one so she challenged a gynosphinx to a battle of wits. She won and as a prize the sphinx bred with Hadriel's husband, giving birth to the first of our kind." she gives a coy smile "I am not one of them, but I am decended from that union centuries ago. I should be in hell guarding a noble of hell and not a rat in a cage. If you can free me, I will be greatful."

Spellcraft: 1d20+6

can't ready an action, things are tense atm and as soon as anything hostile happens she's likely to attack.

"I have nothing to do with him, he is down that way." she points down the hallway where you have yet to travel with steps leading downwards. "The beast the protects him comes from hell aswell. She is a Beatific One and will attack anyone who spoils her fun."

Knowledge Planes DC 24:

beatific ones, also known as Upasunda are creatures that look human, but with three heads, six arms and larger than human size with a focus on perfecting themselves. They are a type of creature called Asura.

They have a thicker than human skin, but they are highly reactive and train themselves to be highly dexterous and avoiding attacks from all sides.

Their flesh is known to regenerate and put itself back together, however good aligned weapons and spells can stunt the regeneration and good aligned weapons can cut through it's skin.

Honing their body and mind to perfection, just like a monk they have high resistances and immunities to curses, disease, poison and cannot be flanked due to the three heads being able to peer over every angle.

They have a magical resistance to acid and electricity due to their birthplace, but also a resistance to spells and spell-like abilities making it difficult to harm them with spells.

Knowledge Planes DC 29:

Being as perceptive as they are, they can see through the darkness and the three heads make it impossible for anyone to sneak up behind him and keep focused on everyone arond.

Knowledge Planes DC 34:

They are known to infuse their weapons with their alignment, making them evil and lawful to cut down enemies who get too close. They have a mastery as using so many weapons at once and being able to cut whirl them at such a high speed to cut anyone down.

They have a commandof spells, able to summon others like it, hold monsters in place, speed themselves up, levitate, create fascinating patterns and darkness, see invisable beings and objects, stick to the walls and climb ike a spider or even teleport.

Knowledge Planes DC 39:

Upasundas, also called beatific ones, are asuras who devote themselves to martial meditations and physical perfection. Upasundas seek monk-like poise and skill, and through it, the ability to deal flawless destruction wherever they go. Their nickname suggests purity, and indeed, each beatific one is an expression of asura purity through devotion to the ideal of annihilation.

It is believed that the first upasundas were created from the jealous followers of a man who achieved divinity through his own force of will. Those of his followers who felt abandoned when this new deity ascended to the Great Beyond sought other ways to achieve immortality, and fell pray to one of the asura ranas, who granted them their desire by transforming them into beatific ones.

She mulls what Curnach says for a moment before removing her belt and handing it to the group.

"The weapons are too big for you, but the belt should help." she states as she looks down at the belt. Only other thing that appears to be of worth are the Kukris and the ring that she then pulls off and offers to you..

She explains it's a belt of might constitution +4 and the ring is a ring of protection +2

Male Human Wizard (FC) 11 - Enchanter

Jerin has not interest in those items.

Well, do we agree to help set her free for her assistance?
he looks upon the devil with many doubts at dealing with one such as her...it just doesn't feel right to Jerin.

Female Aasimar Cleric 9/Rogue 2) (HP: 93/93; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

With Vencarlo taking much of my equipment, I will happily take both as the Belt of Con +4 will be much more useful than the Belt of Strength +2 that I also have. And a +2 Ring is always appreciated. (It also looks like you all already have Con +2 belts that also have Str included as well as all having +2 rings - except Curnach who has a +1 ring.

If she is to return to Hell and not remain on this plane, then once we are finished with her friend down the passage, I would have no problem with that.

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

I never plan to use any physical belt except Con ones so i'll make a case for it at a later date (eventual plan is con belt +6). For now, happy for Llyra to wear it especially as she is down on treasure thanks to Vencarlo (I've been hoping he'll give us his equipment back though as our need is greater :P) and we'll find a fair way to resolve it when we next get a chance to sell and split items.

Curnach chewed the situation over in his mind and came to a decision.

I understand your misgivings and share them Jerin; but we can ill afford two more difficult fights. On certain conditions- unless I am overruled by my companions, here is my offer to you. Firstly, Sivit will surrender her magical equipment to us and make no attempt to reclaim it. Secondly, Sivit will tell us all she knows of the Seneschal's guardian, including weaknesses and offensive abilities- in particular which metals and spiritual forces would be needed to overcome them. Thirdly, Sivit will immediately return to whichever plane of Hell she chooses; but she must swear an oath to never willingly return to Korvosa and to never harm anyone affiliated with the city. If summoned or called to Korvosa, she must do all in her power to resist the whims of her summoner. Jerin, would you be so kind as to draw this out in writing for her to sign? Two copies should suffice...

Female Aasimar Cleric 9/Rogue 2) (HP: 93/93; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

Were it my choice, I would not limit her to being only excluded from Korvosa. Knowing what I do of the denizens of Hell, she will take every word and interpret it to her benefit. As she can fly, she may not consider the air above Korvosa to be part of Korvosa. I would ask that she not return to this material plane, not return to Golarian, on the surface of the planet, in the sky and air above, or in the ground beneath - where we are at present.

DM Aron:

Let me know how much is too much. As I play an attorney in RL, I can spend all day adding clauses to a contract to exclude a devil from something, but this seems a bit of a waste for the purpose of this AP and campaign.

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

The entirety of Golarion? Difficult to enforce. Perhaps simply Varisia will suffice, or Avistan? The Inner Sea Region at the most. Frankly, I have come to realise over time that I cannot try to fight the good fight for the whole world. Korvosa is enough of a duty as it is.

Female Aasimar Cleric 9/Rogue 2) (HP: 93/93; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14

She is beholden to Hell, she cannot, or will not, break the contract. Enforcement is not our concern. What we must do is assure that the contract as written cannot be perverted to allow her to return here. If you simply state that she cannot return to Korvosa, she could work to have Korvosa overthrown and have the city renamed Varisiatown. Then she could re-enter since it would no longer be Korvosa. Or, what if the city grew, would the new larger Korvosa be part of that which she agreed to never enter?

Remember, when working with contracts, good intentions are fraught with peril. This would be a reason why the Savored Sting abhors contracts. However, by baring her from this material plane, it would not matter what it was named, she would not be able to re-enter it.

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

As you say then.

She sighs at the bickering over making a contract and if it should be focused on just Korvosa or more and she rolls her eyes.
"Believe me, I would be far happier in hell at my duchess's side, being assigned to guard a noble from the most deadly of assassins. Assassins who have trained before you were even born to kill a high ranking devil." she states, clearly disgusted with this place. "Out-thinking assassins that cunning is what I was bred for, but I will need to play some complex logic puzzles for a few centuries before my wit is as sharp as it once was." as she says this she drops her Kukris to Curnach's feet.

They have a +1 enhancement on them and are large sized.

"I have no experience with contracts, but some creatures in hell do. Boring, bookish creatures. I had to guard one once as he was doing accounting for Asmodeus." she states, all the while Vencarlo, being smart, keeping his mouth shut.

Vencarlo then speaks up.
"I agree with Curnach, if we have the chance to avoid a fight and kill the creature torturing the Senachal, we should take it. I don't want to imagine what terrors are happening to him right now." he states quite bluntly.

Sivit looks to the group.
"I know some about this creature, I killed one once but it wasn't easy." she states as she looks to the group. "They tone and maintain the bodies like monks in a temple and are known to be immune to all ailments and good aligned weapons can cut through them. She have resistance to spells too, but that's all I know."

Male Human Wizard (FC) 11 - Enchanter

I will not burn my soul by making a contract with a devil. Now if one of you wants to risk your very being, then it is up to you.
I have seen contracts in the Acadamae, those filthy summoners would often make contracts with evil to further their own power.
We have her equipment, I am fine agreeing to free her and her going back to her plane after we destroy the other Devil and free the Seneschal if that is what the rest of the party wishes. Without a proper infernal contract, the agreement you are talking about will not bind a Devil to an agreement.

HP 133/133, AC 26/14/23 CMD 22, F +13, R +10, W +17, P +22, In +11

Curnach sighed.

I would sooner have it bound by an agreement than none at all, but if you insist. What do you propose instead then Jerin?

Male Human Wizard (FC) 11 - Enchanter

A verbal agreement is as binding as the piece of parchment you are talking about.
An infernal contract if the only binding contract that a Devil will strictly adhere to. If it returns to our plane then we just kill it.

"you would only burn your soul, if you promised me it, but those are not the circumstances. Verbal is fine, especially as you need to find that human before his body it taken to his limit." she states as she is clearly anxious to get this deal over and done with.

Behind this final second wall is a set of double doors. They are more suited to a creature of Sivit's size, but a human could open them easily.
