DM Aron Marczylo |
As far as I know he is a human, why would I roll Knowledge the planes? Is there something you are not telling me :)
Also did my Dispel Magic have any effect?
You must've missed my post. Last turn he transformed. It was just after your last post. And yes it did have an effect as I said Glorio appears lessened in bodily health.
DM Aron Marczylo |
Wow I did, was looking at it through feeds and it skipped your post!
lol, well you can still roll for knowlege planar. You'll probably get it as you have a +18 to it.
Llyra Bjorgan |
Was about to post up the roll and realized I was supposed to be at a work meeting :)
spellcraft 1d20+18
Do you mean Spellcraft or Knowledge(planes)?
EDIT - I want to see what Krenn can do with an additional attack and getting to reroll all d20s.
Curnach Daveck the Dwarf |
Concentrating carefully so as not to give the tiger-like humanoid an opening, he unleashes the primal instincts of the huge lion beside him; as the beast grows even stronger and more powerful... As the lion pierces Glorio's defences Curnach smiles grimly.
First blood to us.
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 VS DC23 concentration check to cast defensively
1d20 + 23 ⇒ (2) + 23 = 25 Bite (miss)
2d6 + 15 ⇒ (2, 2) + 15 = 19
1d20 + 23 ⇒ (19) + 23 = 42 Claw (hit?)
1d8 + 15 ⇒ (1) + 15 = 16
1d20 + 23 ⇒ (14) + 23 = 37 Claw (?)
1d8 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19
Blessing of Fervor used for +2 to attack rolls and AC for Lion. Curnach uses his for the same purpose.
DM Aron Marczylo |

I'm pretty sure he means knowledge Planes, but he has the same bonus to the roll :)
DM Aron Marczylo |
The bite of the lion fails to hit Glorio, but the first claw hits him hard, yet his claw only causes a light cut on his body whilst the other claw also bounces off the invisable shield.
Jerin |
Dispel his magical protections if you can, this will help us to hit and possibly hurt him.
Yes, I meant knowledge the planes :)
On Jerin's turn his eyes flare red, a purplish cloud floats through the air until it settles on Glorio...it seeps into his mind causing fear and doubt to appear in his actions...
Activate Aura of Despair. 30' aura that gives all enemies -2 on ability checks, attack, damage, saving throws, and skill checks.
DM Aron Marczylo |
Glorio leers at Llyra, but Jerin's ability catches hit attentiong as he takes a 5ft step to reach him and then begins to lash out with his round of attacks.
attack: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (20) + 25 = 45
crit threat: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (6) + 25 = 31
damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (4, 1) + 10 = 15
attack: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (13) + 20 = 33
damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35
crit threat: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33
damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (2, 1) + 10 = 13
attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
After he is finished with his Kukri, now dripping with Jerin's blood he then lashes out with his claw and teeth.
bite: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3
claw: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22
That could've been worse if he didn't have those minuses to his attacks and damage.
Edit: MAP
Llyra Bjorgan |
Ouch, we need to get a line in front with me next to Krenn so that I can Touch of Luck him. Krenn and I need to delay until after Jerin so that Jerin can move back, Curnach can shift up 1 square, I can move where Jerin is, and Krenn can move to where Curnach is.
I suppose that this is metagaming, but I imagine that it would take our characters about 6 seconds to figure that we need to shield the mage.
Unless Krenn does not delay until after Jerin moves, I will delay my action until immediately after Jerin and Curnach, but before Krenn.

Wouldn't be metagaming as he clearly went straight for the wizard and should be common knowledge that though wizards are smart and educated, they have no skills in hand-to-hand combat.
Krenn Weststone |
Krenn steps to G24, drops his shield and takes up his axe in both hands, striking with all of his might!
To hit 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25
Damage 1d10 + 21 ⇒ (3) + 21 = 24
To hit 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
Damage 1d10 + 21 ⇒ (10) + 21 = 31
Krenn will use the Blessing to add to attack, dodge and reflex this round.
Jerin |
Jerin staggers back from the shredding he just received, 5' to I25, then proceeds to cast a powerful protective magic on himself, stoneskin
Stoneskin, 90 minutes/90 points
He can only really be harmed with piercing or good aligned weapons or grapple him! Llyra, can you heal me? he says with a little fear in his voice...
He then summons a scroll of Haste out of his Haversack as a move equivalent. Blessing effect: Gain a +2 bonus on attack rolls and a +2 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves.
HP: 24/61 waiting for Aron to confirm which attack was intercepted?? That will add those HP's back
Active Effects:
Mage Armor 17.5 hours
Blessing of the Fervor 2/7
Stoneskin: 90min 90/90
Jerin |
If/when you do get around to Bit of Lucking someony Llyra, it would probably be better on the lion. Once it gets a bite/grapple off, Krenn will actually be able to hit.
Edit: Thats a 1000GP spell Jerin, ouch! Also, who is up?
Curnach is actually up just before me, I went ahead and postd since my action doesn't effect yours.
Curnach Daveck the Dwarf |
Round 4-
Curnach steps to G23, casting carefully and defensively, augmenting the lion's already impressive strength.
Bulls Strength. Blessing of Fervor used for +2 AC and +2 to hit.
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26 VS DC19
The lion, flanking and under the effects of Llyra's blessing, only lands a single hit despite the powerful enchantments upon it- a powerful bite that threatens to cling onto Glorio.
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (10) + 24 = 34 Claw
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (5) + 24 = 29 Claw
1d20 + 25 ⇒ (14) + 25 = 39 Bite (hit)
2d6 + 17 ⇒ (4, 5) + 17 = 26 Damage
1d20 + 31 ⇒ (6) + 31 = 37 Free CMB to grapple
Disappointing rolls, but still a fair amount of damage. Next round, Curnach will dispel one of Glorio's magical auras.
DM Aron Marczylo |
As per Alex's suggestion I assume Krenn moved in the way of Glorio's first blow so he took the first crit for Jerin.
Krenn's attacks once again hit the invisable and insubstancial matter that is cloaking Glorio who grins and points his blade at the dwarf.
"You think I have posed as a human for centuries just to be cut down by you mortals? Can you not see I am a true deity?" he grins as he clearly enjoys himself talking.
Also Jerin, there's no real limit on how much you can say out of character. Just don't talk in a massive wall of text for several posts whilst in combat. It's realistic to say some tidbits of the knowledge you succeeded on such as saying he's weak against such and such. Afterall, I break that rule at times making some villains overly cheesy :p.
Round 4
Order:
Curnach Daveck
Jerinthian Kos
Glorio Arkona
Llyra Bjorgan
Krenn Whetstone
Curnach's lion fights and where it seems like the bite was going to land, Glorio's free hand with the eye in it sees the creature coming and manages to evade the attack, though only just.
A note here. AC is 38 you are aiming for and with that eye in his hand he has all-round vision so you cannot flank nor sneak attack. Enjoy :p
"Your attacks are begining to bore me heroes of Korvosa." he grins and then leers at Curnach. "Your feeble beast is nothing compared to the power of an Rakshasa. I would laugh if it weren't for the fact my father put us less of a fight. I drove this very kukri through his heart while his back was turned. Nothing like the taste of blood and flesh, even when it's your own family's."
Glorio appears to have grown annoyed and Curnach and his lion, but focuses his attack on Curnach.
attack: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (3) + 25 = 28
damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
attack: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39
crit threat: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (17) + 20 = 37
damage: 2d4 + 10 ⇒ (1, 1) + 10 = 12
attack: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28
damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
crit threat: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
bite: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22
claw: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
"Foolish mortals. You enter my home, I treat you with kindness and you dare to mess with me?!" he smirks smugly, especially as he now hears the alarm going through out the house. You all hear what sounds like a elephant trumpenting in a endless cycle. You can hear the sound of people running, however they sound like they're running right past the door and not stopping at it and Glorio shrugs. "Humans. They know my family won't have any qualms in killing our own servants or guards."
Curnach Daveck the Dwarf |
The initiative order got a little whacky- Llyra's round 3 action was to use bit of luck so I have to re-roll all the round 4 attacks for my lion sorry for the confusion. None of these rolls include the bonus for flanking anymore.
1d20 + 23 ⇒ (16) + 23 = 39 Bite reroll (hit!)
2d6 + 17 ⇒ (6, 3) + 17 = 26 Damage
1d20 + 31 ⇒ (9) + 31 = 40 Free grapple attempt (includes blessing of ferv)
1d20 + 31 ⇒ (13) + 31 = 44 Grapple attempt reroll (includes blessing of ferv)
1d20 + 22 ⇒ (7) + 22 = 29 Claw reroll
1d20 + 22 ⇒ (11) + 22 = 33 Claw reroll
DM Aron Marczylo |
As per the re-rolls, Glorio is now grappled and below I'm going to do a repost.
Glorio is furious as the giant lion has managed to bite him, but he grins hearing the alarm going off in the form of an Elephant trumpeting loudly, echoing through out the whole mansion.
"Even if I die. My family will finish you all off!" he cries as he then begins attack the Lion.
Use the rolls that were on Curnach, only at another -2.
Jerin |
Jerin's free speech out of turn Round 5 just before Curnach goes.
They have a strong resistance to magic, so we may cast little directly against him, but I can help your lion! Curnach, hold for my action!
Round 5 action.
Cast haste, including the Lion, lasts 5 rounds.
AC:23
HP: 39/61
Active Effects:
Mage Armor 17.5 hours
Blessing of the Fervor 3/7
Stoneskin: 90min 90/90
Wall of force 4/9
Haste 1/5
Krenn Weststone |
Frustrated by the taunting and ineffectiveness of his strikes, Krenn growls in rage and beats on.
To hit 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (19) + 18 = 37
Damage 1d10 + 21 ⇒ (8) + 21 = 29
To hit 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
Damage 1d10 + 21 ⇒ (9) + 21 = 30
Krenn willcontinue to use the Blessing to add to attack, dodge and reflex this round.
Curnach Daveck the Dwarf |
Just Llyra left to act this round... Last round's bit of luck on the lion was awesome by the way, we've got him I think... And that 37 Krenn just threw out will be a hit VS his grappled AC.
Also note- Glorio can't make AOO's so move around to your hearts content.
Curnach Daveck the Dwarf |
Haste hasn't been cast yet Llyra- Jerin plans to cast it on his init this round. Blindness might be worth a go although it sounds like he has spell resistance.
Curnach heeds Jerin's words, not yet giving the lion his next command and waiting for Jerin's spell.
Delay so my initiative is between Jerin's and Glorio's.
DM Aron Marczylo |
Krenn's first swing hit the Rakshaka, however his skin appears to be resiliant against the damage.
"Release me now and I shall grant you a quick death." he groans as he continues to wrestle with the Lion.
Curnach Daveck |
How appealing... Curnach says with sarcasm heavy in his voice. He casts yet another spell and infuses the lion's natural weaponry with magic.
The spell was Greater Magic Fang.
At his command, the lion, Glorio held in its teeth, pins the tiger-like humanoid with its powerful jaws locking him in place and its claws raking his flesh.
1d20 + 37 ⇒ (10) + 37 = 47 (+1 haste, +5 as Glorio didn't try to break grapple)
1d8 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24 Rake 1 damage (free with successful grapple check)
1d8 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20 Rake 2 damage (free with successful grapple check)
A pinned creature is tightly bound and can take few actions. A pinned creature cannot move and is denied its Dexterity bonus. A pinned character also takes an additional –4 penalty to his Armor Class. A pinned creature is limited in the actions that it can take. A pinned creature can always attempt to free itself, usually through a combat maneuver check or Escape Artist check. A pinned creature can take verbal and mental actions, but cannot cast any spells that require a somatic or material component. A pinned character who attempts to cast a spell or use a spell-like ability must make a concentration check (DC 10 + grappler's CMB + spell level) or lose the spell. Pinned is a more severe version of grappled, and their effects do not stack.
So, he loses any dexterity bonus to AC, any and all dodge bonuses to AC, and takes a -4 AC on top of that. Hack away master Krenn!
Llyra Bjorgan |
Yeh - I gave it to the kitty again so that the pin was more or less a guaranty.
Round 5
Move to H25
Touch of Luck - Krenn (should result in him being able to reroll any d20 and take the better roll. By my reading, if he gets a 20, he does not need to use the reroll, but can. Also, he gets it on all d20 rolls.)
Ah, look, the big kitty wants to give the little kitty a kiss. Isn't that sweet. Isn't vengeance sweet little kitty?
DM Aron Marczylo |
The raking claws dig into the Rakshasa, however Glorio appears to be barely harmed from the slashing of the claws. Glorio attempts to fight back and stand back up.
CMB: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (18) + 20 = 38Failed
Llyra Bjorgan |
So that we do not have to correct things, I believe Krenn should get 3 attacks, with the extra being at the highest bonus from Haste. He also has all the +2 from my Blessing and gets to reroll and d20 he wants to from the touch of luck.
Krenn Weststone |
Krenn is thrilled when Glorio fails to get free from the giant cat. As he feels the arcane power flood through his muscles, he grins widely and strikes at Glorio again, hoping to put an end to him. But alas, even restrained by the lion Glorio's agility and arcane defenses prove too much for Krenn. That, and the dice roller. :p
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20
1d10 + 21 ⇒ (4) + 21 = 25
1d20 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19
1d10 + 21 ⇒ (2) + 21 = 23
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (10) + 13 = 23
1d10 + 21 ⇒ (6) + 21 = 27
Krenn will continue to use the Blessing to add to attack, dodge and reflex this round.
Krenn Weststone |
Thanks for reminding me AK! Sorry, too late for me to edit original post to include them, so here goes:
To hit 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (12) + 18 = 30 If a hit, 25 damage.
To hit 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (10) + 18 = 28 If a hit, 23 damage.
To hit 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (14) + 13 = 27 If a hit, 27 damage.
Krenn will continue to use the Blessing to add to attack, dodge and reflex this round.
