You don't already know? You don't seem to be particularly well informed for a man in your position...

(Male Human Wizard (FC) 9 - Enchanter)

Jerin casts mage armor as well as detect magic when he gets within sight of the front gate. He will say little, looking to view and try to determine magical aura's whenever he has enough time.
He tells the others what he is doing and asks them to linger as beautiful sights and objects come into view within the palace, to give him an excuse to run the full detect for as long as he can....

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

Curnach Daveck wrote:

He scratches his chin as he looks at you.

"Forgive me, but we get many visitors, even these days." he smiles "Either to pass on their greatful words and tribute or even apply to be a servant. Please, follow me." he leads you down the hall, being sure to walk on the thick red carpet. You all feel treated like loyalty here. Around the corner you see a statue at the end of the same deity with the eyes all being red bloodstones looking out down the hall that you stop as Carnochan turns to a pair of doors, opening them wide and letting you all inside. "Please wait here for me to check on the master."

He leaves you alone in the room where there is a large fireplace, giving a comfortable warmth. There are mable sides to the fiire place and a mantle carved into a parade of capering monkeys and tigers. A large sofa sits to the north while a few comfortable chairs sit to the south.

After five minutes a clean and handsome man enters dressed in a silk vudrani robe and is accompanied by
"Greetings, I am Glorio Arkona. I am sorry to keep you waiting and-" he stops for a moment as he turns to Carnochan "Why have you not brought our guests wine and cheese while they waited? Please, go aquire some from the storeroom and only the finest stuff for such great citizens of Korvosa." at this the man nods and shuffles out of the room immediately.

Glorio turns back to the group with a smile.
"I wanted to see someone about the emporor and I have a reward here for you." he produces a golden ring with a green bloodstone set in it. "This is a ring of evasion. I hope small item will help you all. Is there anything else I can be of service to you?" he asks as he walks over to sit in the couch with any who are sitting there, but if no one is he'll still sit there and cross his legs in a relaxed state.

Jerin:

You can see that the door and the elephant head have a magic aura about them, but the eye does not give off any magical aura.

You don't manage to find anything else glowing magically when you look around nor in the room you finally enter.

putting spoilers below this one in order of being mentioned. Also, do you keep concentraiting on the spell when you wait for 5 minutes for Glorio?

Knowledge Arcana DC 16:

The doors give off a faint adjuration magic aura.

Knowledge Arcana DC 17:

The elephant head gives off a faint illusion magic aura.

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

actually, mauling over the AP I bit I think you should all be 9th level.

(Male Human Wizard (FC) 9 - Enchanter)

Are you sure it isn't 9th by the end of this AP chapter? Maybe after we kill all of the Arkonas and their guardians we will be 9th? :]
Will keep the detect magic up until I have to stop concentrating.

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

10th by the end of the part.

(Female Aasimar Cleric 7/Rogue 2) (HP: 68/78; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14)

Wow, I don't check in for a day, and there are a dozen posts.

I look at the ring and cast detect magic on it.

Lord Arkona. If this emperor was a problem for you, why did you not eliminate him before he did all the damage to your city. That does not sound like good stewardship.

We are here because there is great wrong happening in this city. And as you know from recent events, this wrong starts at the very top with the would be queen.

While your reward is appreciated. We are not here for pleasantries. We eliminated the emperor, may his soul rot in the Abyss. Now we seek to find that which is causing the city to fester.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

The ring is indeed magic, but you'll have to study it for sometime to gauge it's properties.

"Well dear you see, I am but one noble and my men had to protect as many of the citizens as they could. I just do not have the man power to march in there and take over, though now he is gone I am glad as the city can now slowly recover back to normal."[b/] he explains and gives Llyra a curious look when saying about seeking a way to heal the city. [b]"Well whatever it is I an do, I would be only too happy to help the heroes of Korvosa. I and the other nobles of this city want nothing more than to bring it back to the way things were and even improve things with a new king on the throne."

(Male Human Wizard (FC) 9 - Enchanter)

Don't forget that Jerin is building up the rounds of detect magic on Glorio...my spellcraft is +18 so unless the DC is 20 is higher I don't need to roll.

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

Jerin:

After concentraiting you get many different auras, even a aura around his left hand. Here are the items you manage to identify:

spellcraft rolls: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24

spellcraft rolls: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26

spellcraft rolls: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (13) + 18 = 31

spellcraft rolls: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19

spellcraft rolls: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25

spellcraft rolls: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (11) + 18 = 29

spellcraft rolls: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (8) + 18 = 26

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

Glorio looks over at at Jerin and raises a eyebrow.
"My dear, your friend seems to be staring at me rarther intently. I know my presence is something to be admired, but I don't need to be admired so...intently." he says as he looks back to Jerin and cocks his head to the side, not seeming to know what Jerin is doing. "What is it you need my help with. I am willing to do whatever you want to save this city from the queen."

(Male Human Wizard (FC) 9 - Enchanter)

Aron, I think some of the stuff in the spoiler was lost, can you please confirm?

(Male Human Wizard (FC) 9 - Enchanter)

Jerin mumbles, We may have met before, you looks very familiar..

(HP 20/94, AC 25/13/23 CMD 18, F +10, R +7, W +16, P +21, In +8, AOO +1)

We want the Steward released into our custody immediately and we demand to know what became of Vencarlo, who brought him here. Curnach says grimly, rising tension clear in his voice.

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

Sorry, it locked in after I edited it to try and correct my error and add something I discussed about.

Jerin:

You manage to pick up various auras as you are concentrating on him.

His belt and boots appear to give off a moderate transmutation aura whilst his ring gives off a faint abjuration aura.

You don't manage to get what the aura is in his left hand, but you can also sense three hidden auras on his body. Each a different aura. A faint abjuration, faint illusion and a moderate transmutation aura.

You now also sense a moderate transmutation aura covering his entire body, though not his clothing.

Knowledge Arcana1d20 + 18 ⇒ (6) + 18 = 24

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

Glorio looks to Curnach and gives a rueful smile.
"Yes I do have the senechal and you are correct that I also have the brilliant Vencarlo. However, the pair of them are in the Vivified Labyrinth." as he says this he raises up so that he is now standing "I apologise for this complication, but I won't retrieve either guest for you as it is far more sporting, I find, to have you retrieve them, but I can do the next best thing. I have a secret entrance to the labyrinth. There is a elephant statue made of jade standing in the guarden nearby. This beast is actually a special version of a item called a figurine of wonderous power. It stands on a stone slab near the trapdoor as there is a switch to activate it, but it will attack unless you say the password “Chamidu is blind”. This will lead you into the labyrinth below and there are different levers that rotate the four different sections. Both Vencarlo and Neolandus are down there and I am sure you will be able to save them if you are as great as I have heard."

Knowledge Local DC 25:

The Vivified Labyrinth is a notorious dungeon, a place said to be used by the Arkonas to torment and test prisoners and agents alike, however no one has ever returned to announce what is down there.

You wish to make a game out of us descending into a deathtrap for your amusement? Curnach says, anger creeping into his voice...

I think its high time we all levelled to 9th before this turns into initiative. I don't know how he rest of you feel about this Glorio fellow but frankly, he was already on Curnach's bad side for being the head of a family of crime lords. This is VERY likely to go into initiative at this point.

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

"Well yes, it will be fun to see how well you do against what lies below, but also you can't expect me to merely hand them over can you?" he asks with a sly smile "You don't get something for nothing. Even humans have their price, but these two are far too special to let go of."

(Female Aasimar Cleric 7/Rogue 2) (HP: 68/78; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14)

While you may consider torture and imprisoning people in a deathtrap to be enjoyment. Some of us have spent a lifetime finding those who enjoy harming others and making sure that their enjoyment is very short lived. At present, I do not have my target fixed on your back despite your known involvement with criminal elements of this great city.

At present, we seek the release of two men who have spent their lives fighting for this city, and you have undoubtedly greatly benefitted from their actions by having a safe city in which to run your illicit activities. Should you agree to release them, then we can continue with our objective of freeing this city from the terror in which it is enmeshed. Should you not agree, well, lets just say that the mighty emperor and all of his troops lasted less than three minutes against us.

(HP 94/94, AC 25/13/23 CMD 18, F +10, R +7, W +16, P +21, In +8, AOO +1)

You say humans like your not one of us... Curnach notes. You are a blight upon this city and like the Urgothoans before you, we shall rid the city of you, one way or another. You dare to taunt us in this hour of need- you will feel the wrath of Korvosa!

Curnach immediately begins to cast a spell, clearly now on the attack.

Curnach's updated.

(Female Aasimar Cleric 7/Rogue 2) (HP: 68/78; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14)

A little confused here, are we leveling to 9th level? Just want to make sure and will level tonight if necessary.

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

Llyra Bjorgan wrote:

Yeah I mentioned it earlier I wasn't sure as James Jacobs himself said online that you should be at 9th level when you get to this point of the AP. Plus you guys are quite close to the end anyway.

(Female Aasimar Cleric 7/Rogue 2) (HP: 68/78; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14)

Ooh - bigger boom boom spells for Jerin and Curnach.

(Male Human Wizard (FC) 9 - Enchanter)

Sweet, Jerin will pick up 2 5th level spells, Timestop and Wish... :]

(HP 94/94, AC 25/13/23 CMD 18, F +10, R +7, W +16, P +21, In +8, AOO +1)

5th level spells are quite meh actually for Druids. Fire snakes good but for now, i'm actually prepping summon natures ally- hoping to get a Dire Lion and make it stupidly powerful with spells.

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

Jerin wrote:

A bit Hopeful there. They're both 9th level spells lol.

Jerin is ready to go at 9th.

(Female Aasimar Cleric 7/Rogue 2) (HP: 68/78; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14)

9th level, 9th level spells, whats the difference. I can use the Blessing of Fervor on the Lion as well. I took Blessing of Fervor and Restoration as 4th level spells. As before, let me know if there is something better. Was thinking about the Spiritual Ally, but thought that Restoration was better and the Blessing of Fervor gives everyone a nice bonus. You casters can even cast a 1st or 2nd level spell with certain Metamagic feats (I am thinking an Enlarged Entangle might be nice).

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

Bahor sighs as you start your attack.
"I will put you down. I have lived far too well to have you dare attack me." he gets ready for combat with the group. "You will all be forgotten, but once I make my move I shall be the king of Korvosa!"

How appropiate. We just came back from killing a would be Emperor...

Curnach begins to cast, staying behind Krenn.

Spellcraft DC20 & DM:

Summon Nature's Ally 5.

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22

"He was a fool. I have the seneshal and as a powerful noble I am one of many who could take the throne." he smirks as he looks at Curnach the Dwarf. "Foolish boy. The only thing more pathetic than the woreship of nature is the woreship of the gods."

(HP 74/83 (-1 CN, fatigued, AC 27/24/15, F+15, R+10, W+5 Initiative +3, Perception +12)

Krenn watches Glorio closely, ready to intervene himself in any attacks he makes on the other three.

(Female Aasimar Cleric 7/Rogue 2) (HP: 68/78; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14)

Smiling: You may not believe in the gods. But they grant great power which has lead to the downfall of many a king. Something you will get to experience before even ascending the throne.

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

1d20 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22

1d20 + 18 ⇒ (7) + 18 = 25

Jerin:

You also sense two auras around him. One of Abjuration and another of Conjuration, both faint in power.

"I know the power of the divine, but I do not believe they are worthy of worship, unlike me and other members of my family."he gives an arrogant smirk as he says this.

(Female Aasimar Cleric 7/Rogue 2) (HP: 68/78; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14)

@ DM Aron - can I drop Restoration and take Spiritual Ally instead as my second Level 4 spell? Just got a note on this from one of the party.

(Male Human Wizard (FC) 9 - Enchanter)

Round 1 Action
Jerin drops the detect magic and then casts a spell and then steps 5' back to I24

spellcraft DC20:

Jerin casts wall of Force and uses it to cover all of the walls of the interior of this room including the windows and the way out...if needed I will raise the height to get the windows and then just skip a 10' section of wall behind us (I26,27)

Current effects:
Mage Armor, duration 18 hours.

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

Llyra Bjorgan wrote:

Yeah that's fine :)

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

Glorio looks as though he casts a spell and then vanishes from sight instantly.

DM:

Perception DC 64:

You believe that you can hear the sounds of movement close by to where he just was. G22

1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25 Spellcraft

Invisibility. The only thing more pathetic about your fearsome tactic of hiding from us, is that we predicted it all along. Llyra, if you please...

(Female Aasimar Cleric 7/Rogue 2) (HP: 68/78; AC: 25; FF: 21; Touch: 14)

Parlor tricks. I have seen better from a blind bedouin. Hold your swing for a second Krenn.

Move Action: Copycat - creates 1 Mirror Image - Duration 7 rounds.

Standard Action: Cast Purge Invisibility - makes all invisible objects and creatures in a 45' radius visible. Duration 9 minutes.

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

spellcraft: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21

Glorio reappears, with a kukri in hand and a glare in his eyes.
"It appears you are all more talented than the rumours suggest."he gives out a low growl then and narrows his eyes, clearly not suspecting these abilities. "No matter...I will still cut you all down."

He has re-appeared in G22 on the map

(HP 74/83 (-1 CN, fatigued, AC 27/24/15, F+15, R+10, W+5 Initiative +3, Perception +12)

Krenn's eyes narrow when Glorio disappears, but then a grin crosses his face when he materializes right next to him. He doesn't hesitate.

To hit 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (14) + 18 = 32
Damage 1d10 + 18 ⇒ (1) + 18 = 19
To hit 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
Damage 1d10 + 18 ⇒ (4) + 18 = 22

If Glorio attacks any of the others, he'll use his Bodyguard and In Harm's Way feats to defend them.

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

Both attacks from Krenn's weapon seem to bounce harmlessly off a invisable shield in front of Glorio and he laughs at the attempt.

Round 2

Order:

Curnach Daveck
Jerinthian Kos
Glorio Arkona
Llyra Bjorgan
Krenn Whetstone

MAP

(HP 94/94, AC 25/13/23 CMD 18, F +10, R +7, W +16, P +21, In +8, AOO +1)

As Curnach finishes his spell, a great hunting beast; a dire lion, appears from behind Glorio (GH20/21). The beast waits patiently as, with another spell, Curnach infuses the animal with even greater strength and power as its already impressive size increases further, its mass threatening to envelop Glorio as it takes up almost half of the room.

Its a huge sized creature now and occupies squares G20/21/22, H20/21/22 and I20/21/22. Aron you might just want to put Glorio in square G23 as a result as I doubt you want to squeeze him and have him take penalties. Note that even if Glorio remains in his square, the lion flanks with Krenn; a creature of large size or more can use any of its squares to determine flanking.

The great cat, near-pulsating with Druidic power, lashes out at Glorio with tooth and claw, although the Arkonas man's many defences thwart its initial assault. Curnach only smiles, knowing that the beast would only grow deadlier.

1d20 + 17 ⇒ (5) + 17 = 22 Bite miss
2d6 + 11 ⇒ (4, 6) + 11 = 21

1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25 Claw 1 miss
1d8 + 11 ⇒ (6) + 11 = 17

1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25 Claw 2 miss
1d8 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16

(Male Human Wizard (FC) 9 - Enchanter)

Jerin looks surprised as Glorio easily evades Krenn's Mighty swings.
He casts dispel magic on him, trying to dispel some of the enchantments over him.

Make several attempts in case they are needed:
Caster Level Check Spell 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Caster Level Check Spell 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Caster Level Check Spell 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

(Master of Procrastination and Grognardia)

The first two effects are not effected, however the third one dispells and his physique seems somewhat a little deminished, though not by too much.

"Looks like I'll have to pull out all the stops." Glorio grins as his eyes change colour to yellow cat-like eyes, his hands changing into claws and his head morphing into the head of a tiger. The fingers of his free hand then bend backwards as a dark red eye appears in the flesh and glares at the group. He takes a step to the side, trying to avoid being flanked and focusing his narrowed eyes on Curnach. "Now you know my secret, it is time for you all to die."

Knowledge Planes DC 20:

The creature before you is a Rakshasa, a native shapeschanger that embodys everything taboo in most culstures. If they were humans these acts of cannibalism, blasphemy, and worse would mark them as criminals condemned to the cruelest of hells. Commonly known for working alone, but a pair working together for the same goal is not impossible. They do not woreship any deities, however they do know of their existance but just believe themselves as being the only objects of woreship so Rakshasa clerics are rare.

The one before you has a tiger head, but their species has a variaty of other heads including apes, jackals, vultures, elephants, mantises, lizards, rhinos, boars and many, many more. All with slight personality traits like tigers being stealthy and ravenous while a boar-headed one would be gluttonous and crude.

They have darkvision and thickened hide that only good aligned weapons or peircing weapons can bypass as well as their association with magic granting them a resistance to spells.

Well, we have counters for your amateur antics.

Standard Action - Cast Blessing of Fervor - everyone should read this, you can choose any of several boons, extra attack, bonus to attack & AC, metamagic modified spells, etc. I also include the Lion as a selected target. - Lasts 9 rounds.

Move Action - Move to G25.

@DM Aron - if he moved 10', I should get an AoO as I have a 10' threatened range with my whip now. Not sure whether it was a 5-foot move + being pushed by the lion or an actual move.

(HP 94/94, AC 25/13/23 CMD 18, F +10, R +7, W +16, P +21, In +8, AOO +1)

I think it was just a 5 foot step as the lion forced him to G24. Note Blessing of Fervor works for every round :).
