Willow Whisperwood |
Knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Willow, using her knowledge of the root looks to the group and simply gives a nod as her way to say that it is safe to take.
"Dromutu. I've seen it, but never tried it." she simply says before she gives a deep sigh, closing her eyes as she is clearly trying to clear her mind and then starts to chew on it and not resisting any effects that come her way.
Tsura Vhiski |
"Nkechi picked up a wooden mortar filled with red paste and proceeded to draw mystic symbols on the group's faces with the paste as he walked around the circle chanting esoteric words."
Simba!
Tsura accepts the root and begins to chew, trying not to grimace at the bitter rawness of the vegetable.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne |
The group felt their spirits slowly leave their bodies behind in the Tempest's sea cave as they seemed to float like smoke into the sky; insubstantial and without sight but somehow aware of each other. Sight slowly returned as they perceived the entire Mwangi Expanse below them, growing ever smaller. Slowly, as they passed through the clouds, the sky turned red and the adventurer's felt themselves reforming into strange forms, luminescent with pale colours and bizarre colouring. Despite the strangeness of their new forms, each was instinctively able to recognise one another. The group seemed to be manifesting on a featureless plane- its only features were a flat grassland and a blue, stormy sky. Lightning crackled high above and grey thunderclouds seemed to be forming.
Chi was the first of the group to fully form as she soared high above as a majestic, golden-red eagle. Smaller in stature than her usual form, Chi enjoyed the flight the form provided and seemed to instinctively know how to fly. Ambroze had formed into an antelope- 3 foot tall at the shoulder and 4 feet long. Despite his small size, his horns looked sharp and he appeared to possess exceptional speed. Tun'ada had manifested into a fierce, large, truly impressive lion; with powerful muscles and a mighty mane of fur- and a proud bearing. His claws were sharp and he prowled impatiently as the others continued to form. Marcus also transmuted into a powerful animal of the expanse; a mighty rhinoceros. Tun'ada and Marcus found themselves instinctively sizing one another up for a moment after the latter had fully formed. Willow herself manifested as a fine mare- her long hair having changed into the horse's mane. She stood at 5 feet tall at the shoulder and bore no horseshoes. Tsura was the last of the group to manifest and she appeared as a Hyena- covered in shaggy, tan-colored fur with black and brown stripes and vicious teeth.
Each of the group seemed to have full, instinctive mastery over their new forms and seemed to still possess the ability to speak to one another. Nkechi appeared soon after, having appeared as a giant crab. He offered no explanation other than a single shouted sentence over the sound of the thunder and lightning above-
Do not stray while I commune with Gozreh!
Then the giant crab raised his pincers up towards the storm-clouds above, in homage to his master...

Willow Whisperwood |
Willow, now a horse is stunned by this transformation. She has learnt of other druids transforming, but this is the first time it's ever happened to her, especially as she went down this path of becoming a druid of storms.
"This is so different, but pleasent." she conveys in this new form, not having an ability to smile, but communicating it best as she can as she tries to lay down as she remains in this new form.
Chi T'reignial |
With a screech, the eagle rises above the group, swooping down, then rising back up into the air, her wings outstretched. She rolls to the left, then to the right, before her wings drawn in, she swoops down once more again, landing on the bough of a nearby tree. From her perch above she stutters then speaks freely, "Wherever we are, this is a freedom I have seldom experienced." as Chi embraces the form she has taken.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne |
Nkechi ignored the chatter of the others as he raised his pincers and closed his eyes. The storm seemed to focus directly above him as it crackled with lightning and the clouds grew ever stormier. After a moment of chanting, Nkechi began to speak as he interpreted the divination granted to him.
So, it is true! It is Gozreh's will that I accompany you on your journey. Whatever it is that you must face, the Tempest shall be your guide!
I foresee the ruins of an ancient, forgotten city- uncovered, unveiled, full of ancient folklore. We are not alone in our quest for the city- and forces far more nefarious than mere human ambition dwell in such ancient places, for I foresee a lingering darkness, a betrayer and the masked one...
Nkechi continued to commune with the storm above but hesitated as he and the rest of the group saw another smoke cloud beginning to form into a corporeal creature, all green and grey. Before the group had time to prepare for the new threat the newcomer had fully formed- into the form of a giant, coiled and venomous snake.
Disturbingly, the snake appeared to have various markings and patterns upon its scales that seemed to strongly remind the group of the deceptive serpentfolk who had brought them so much trouble upon Smuggler's Shiv- Yarzoth. Even more disturbingly, a second serpent had formed on their flank...

Notes-
Unlike your own large forms, the serpents have ten feet of reach.
I've assumed Chi's current altitude is about thirty feet. There are no trees on the endless grassland plain though.
Ambroze, Knowledge (Nature) is the appropriate roll (DC19).
Action-
The two serpents wasted no time as they lumbered at Marcus and Tun'ada, apparently having chosen to neutralise the strongest animals first. The teeth of one of the massive snakes sunk into Tun'ada's hindquarters while the other misjudged its lunge and ended up biting ineffectively on Marcus' horn.
Serpent Bite on Tun'ada: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Make a Fort save VS poison (DC17) or take Wisdom Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2.
Serpent Bite on Marcus: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Nkechi, still focused upon his ritual, appeared to simply begin chanting once more as he franticly waved his pincers to and fro.
Feel free to list your new AC's for me all, would make my life easier. Your all up.
Ambroze |
So I'm assuming that since we can speak, we can cast spells with verbal components only, but not spells with somatic components, correct?

2d8 + 9 ⇒ (3, 6) + 9 = 18
Tempted to power attack but not sure which one Chi targeted with the hex.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne |
Per Tanner's request via PM I will bot him... He has some exciting news :).
Tsura the hyena was wary of the snake's deadly reach and manoeuvred around, the pack hunter instinct strong with her. She would soon be ready to get in closer and strike with Marcus.
Willow's normally weak muscles was reflected in the rather frail looking animal form she had instinctively been drawn to. The serpent was caught off guard as the horse passionately joined the fight, caught by both of her hooves as she reared up to strike.
Ambroze began to offer advice for battling the large serpents- whatever was representing them in this world, they did not seem much different from normal serpents, save for their unusual poison. He noted in particular that their coiled bodies would be impossible to trip up.
Tun'ada's two claws tore through his attackers thick scales and left huge slashes on the reptile's body. His bite was no less fearsome as he caught the snake by the throat and latched on with all of his considerable might.
Chi lost some altitude as she struggled to stay in one place, but her hex appeared to still function in this form. The wounded and grappled serpent shrugged off the majority of the effect, only having been effected temporarily.
Slow to react in his lumbering new form, Marcus' new horn slammed into his attacker with a sudden flick of his mighty armoured head; if the reptile had actually possessed a vertebrae it would likely have snapped under the assault. As it was, the serpent was wounded but not mortally so.
Will VS Hex (Success): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16

Notes-
Unlike your own large forms, the serpents have ten feet of reach.
I've assumed Chi's current altitude is about twenty feet.
Action-
Nkechi continued to commune with the storm as the fight continued. The two serpents continued to attack with no regards to their own survival; Marcus' foe bit him on the softer skin under his throat and Tun'ada's flailed helplessly in his toothy embrace; apparently unable to get enough freedom from his vicious jaw to counter-attack. Marcus found himself in a position to flank the snake as Tsura appeared behind the serpent- she moved in and cautiously bit at the serpent's lower body, scoring a minor wound.
Another fort save, same again Tun'ada. Roll your own Wis damage.

Free action to maintain Bardic Performance (Naturalist), granting all allies within 30 ft a +1 insight bonus to AC, attack rolls, and saves vs. exceptional, supernatural, and spell-like abilities used by the giant snakes. Full-round action to Charge to square C,9 to try to gore the giant snake.

A trickle of blood flowing down his hide, Marcus easily fights off the snake's poison but his wild counter is evaded. He still seems to be fighting against his new form.

Gore: 1d20 + 10 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 10 + 2 - 2 = 15 (naturalist, flank, power attack)
2d8 + 9 + 6 ⇒ (3, 4) + 9 + 6 = 22
Keep them surrounded! We have this!
Tsura Vhiski |
Many apologies for my absence. We had a baby!.... earlier than we thought we would! Thank you for your patience.
Your speed is 50 feet and you have one natural attack at your normal BAB- a bite that deals 1d6 + strength damage. On a successful hit, you may attempt to Trip your target as a free action (you are not tripped yourself if you fail by more than 10). In addition, you gain the Scent ability and Low Light Vision.
Bite w/ Flank: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 181d6 ⇒ 6
DM Alexander Kilcoyne |
Tun'ada tore into the serpent before him and with a triumphant roar, ripped the head off the beast even as its poison flowed through his veins, just as Ambroze collided into it with his own horns. Nearby, Tsura's bite provided just enough of a distraction for Marcus' powerful horn to ram through the serpents neck, similarly beheading the beast with a violent twist of his head as Willow slammed another hoof into its body.
Triumphant, the group watch as the decapitated serpentine bodies thrash and writhe violently before gradually fading away. They have a moment to converse amongst themselves before Nkechi continued his divination, apparently unperturbed by the two serpents swift defeat. Even as they slowly faded he continued his divination-
Seven mighty spears to lance the sky, seven to mark the fall! The seven virtues stand to honour the sacrifice, since before the Age of Darkness...
Chi T'reignial |
Chi seeing the serpents fade, rises in the air, before swooping in triumph over the place where the serpents fell. He air rushing past her face as she dives down is exhilarating, before using her momentum she turns, as rises up again. A loud squark comes from Chi's hooked beak, a celebration of victory as she feels the delight of flight.
Beneath her, she sees the old druid continue in his ceremony, but pays it little heed.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne |
Sorry, this weekends been nuts.
As though interrupting his ritual, the fading and headless serpents seemed to become brighter and brighter, even as Marcus stomped the form of the one he had slain- repeatedly. Nkechi's words were drowned out as the light seemed to force the forms of the group back into their material, humanoid bodies. The group found themselves back around the fire in Nkechi's sea cave, recovering from whatever it was that they went through. Although everybody felt groggy, Tun'ada in particular noticed that any wounds the group had incurred did not seem to have survived the journey back; nor could he feel any trace of the poison in his veins.
Anyone who is trained in Knowledge (Planes) and/or Knowledge (Religion) may make a roll, I don't want to use a gated spoiler in this instance. Two separate checks please.
