Female Human Oracle 4

I am a walking potion of lesser restoration ;-)

Male Mwangi (Caldaru) Human Ranger 3 (Shapeshifter) / Barbarian 2

After Marcus is taken care of, Tun'ada could use a lesser restoration (down 2 strength from the poison).

Female Elf Witch 3 (favoured) / Rogue 2 HPs 19/27

Here is the list of items from the serpent woman....anyone else can search her minions just in case. Thought I'd put these here so we can discuss who wants and gets what....as there are3 some nice things in this little lot. My notes in italics.

An unholy silver symbol of Ydersius. Party, in case we need it later

A spell component pouch. A handy spare for me or Ambroze or Gwen

25 pieces of platinum. Party funds

A Ring of Mind Shielding Everyone should have one of these...

A waterproof scroll tube (worth 250GP, max 20 scrolls), containing-

A potion of water breathing. Party for whoever might need it to get us out of this place.

Two scrolls of Augury For Gwen

A scroll of Comprehend Languages Party or Ambroze?

Two scrolls of Cure Moderate Wounds Gwen or Ambroze

A scroll of Find Traps Ambroze probably

A scroll of Remove Disease Gwen?

Two scrolls of Lesser Restoration Gwen?

And on another note, I have Chi with the Ring of Swimming now, cos she might have lent it out previously. That OK?

Male Human Fighter 5 50/50 hp 4hp nonlethal

Suggest selling the ring with all the other not really useful stuff we've picked up during the chapter. Its a nice chunk of change and pretty useless for one PC. Presumably we'll get a chance to shop after the chapter ends and we get back to civilisation

Female Human Oracle 4

I sure hope so! My favorite part about RPing female characters is getting to be excited about shopping!!

BTW, I'm on another business trip this week, starting ass-early tomorrow. I'll still be able to post daily, but I have no idea what time I'll be able to post at. I'll be on Pacific Daylight time.

You know what would be extremely cool?

If we were all to hop on Skype at some point and chat or even (dare I hope) run an actual session sometime. I have no idea how it would work, and I'm not even talking about the short term... just sometime, down the road. Is that anywhere in the realm of possibility, or is it a pipe dream of mine?

While that would be fun, I just don't know if it would work out. We all seem to have fairly different schedules, caused in large part to the fact that we are scattered across the globe.

It would be really cool if we could manage it, though!

(And by the way, I'm working on the Kingmaker revival as we speak [type?] - just trying to make sure I catch all the little details from nearly six months ago!)

Liberty's Edge

Male Rat Editor 3/Grammarian 3

I apologize, guys, posting from the West Coast has been a bit more difficult than I assumed it would be (due in large part to me sitting directly next to my boss the whole time!). I'm going to be back at it very soon, but I am stuck here one more night and totally swamped with things to do.

Your Humble Narrator

Its ok, individual busyness happens. But almost nothing has happened since you took Yarzoth out- i'm waiting on PC decisions and actions here, nothing for me to do currently :)

Male Human Fighter 5 50/50 hp 4hp nonlethal

OK no idea how we actually get off the island at this point (assume it has something to do with the lighthouse) but are we "off the clock" at this point? Is there anything stopping us from taking the time to fully rest up, search everything with take 20s for anything we've missed, treasure etc?

Your Humble Narrator

The NPC's at the camp are fixing up the lighthouse if you recall. Smugglers Shiv runs right by the main shipping laes so a lighthouse beacon is likely to attract someone- eventually.

As soon as I resolve Chi's current effort, your off the clock really.

Male Human Fighter 5 50/50 hp 4hp nonlethal

OK vote we rest up, heal and let Chi take a crack at the disable tomorrow. Would rather she try and disarm it than let Ambroze take the full brunt whatever his save bonus. He'd need to be in the room to inspire confidence anyway so it might still come into play.

I don't mind resting and giving it a go on the next day. Ambroze will spend the evening poring over Ieana/Yarzoth's notes.

Female Human Oracle 4

I'm sad I missed this discussion... a +6(? Right?) Bonus to Saves is an almost guaranteed pass along with a strong Will Save in the first place and Guidance. Ambroze would have been saving (basically) as a 10th or 11th level character against that effect. I'd have lobbied pretty hard to have Broze open the drawer.

Oh well, that's what I get for being crazy-busy. bat-Chi. :-P

If Chi could roll a decent Disable Device, rather than the rubbish she did, it shouldn't have been too much of a problem. To be fair she didn't do to badly on the save, just not quite enough, got it to 19 I think.

Male Human Fighter 5 50/50 hp 4hp nonlethal

Aye curumba!

Horrible result obviously although I'm still not sure Ambroze just opening it was better. We didn't know if he got a save or it was will (and not fort). We didn't know that failing to disarm the trap didn't destroy the contents of the drawer.

And don't know about you but frankly I was expecting glyph of warding not bat curse, poor Chi :(

Your Humble Narrator

Ambroze would still have had to roll high to pass, and we're on shaky ground when we're comparing saving throw bonuses to predicted chances of success against disabling the trap.

It was a glyph of warding... bwahahaha... And yeah, if it was a blast version say goodbye to the contents.

Female Human Oracle 4

I get your point, but I still disagree. :-p

More importantly, Ambroze has a rarely used bonus to saves against glyphs and runes...I'd have let him use it. That's be like me saying, "Hey, I always heal max HP to wounded dire boars named Mortimer", and we subsequently run into a wounded dire boar with a sign around his neck that says "My name is Mortimer", and someone administers a potion of cure moderate to it.

Well, not quite THAT egregious, but you take my meaning. :-)

Oh well, it's water under the bridge at this point. The whole thing just drives me batty. This dungeon has been bats*it crazy.

Too bad we don't have a fireballer in the party, there'd be ample opportunity for material component collection!

[/ba dum bump]

Your Humble Narrator

Personally I think when someone is an expert in traps (to the point that theur first rogue talent is Trap Spotter), you would defer to them, even if the trap happens to be based around a rune. Especially with Chi's success rate.

As you say though, water under the bridge. The dungeon is essentially finished. Once we RP Chi's return to the group (or their arrival to her) we can start to wrap the chapter up.

Tun'ada, theres plenty of serpentfolk blood to go around, you can narrate your arrival if you wish.

Your Humble Narrator

Casts breath of life on the game after the weekend struck it a critical hit...

Female Elf Witch 3 (favoured) / Rogue 2 HPs 19/27

Thinking how Chi would react to this deformity, she would not want to be seen and be very difficult to console. I thought it only fair to the rest of you to decide if you want to go through that whole role play thing, which means that Chi would be the centre of the story and it could go on for some time. It might make getting off the island difficult in a ship or something....

I have no problem if you want to get back and lighthouse and off the island, with Chi traveling mainly wearing a blanket over her head and body. I('ll leave it to you to decide what we do, either fast track the RP or RP more of the whole reaction.

Your Humble Narrator

Ok, going to super speed montage as soon as I get the time for a larger update.

Female Human Oracle 4

Because I'm not sure how far you're going, I just want to put it out there that I aim to try to persuade the crazy tengu guy (pezok? Is that right?) to come along with us. I was going to go try to roust him before returning to camp, if possible.

Chi, Ambroze greatly appreciates you taking one for the team and preventing him from being turned into Eddie Munster...

Anyone have any concerns with telling the other castaways about our adventure in the temple? Ambroze trusts the other castaways (well, possibly not the tengu) and has no problem with telling them all that we encountered. He would be particularly interested in Gelik's perspective on how this information might be used to obtain the attention of the Pathfinder Society.

Male Human Fighter 5 50/50 hp 4hp nonlethal

Marcus is simply not going to realise that there may be a good reason to be secret about the information found (even with the serpent woman's declarations) unless someone points it out. He's happy to leave that stuff to Ambroze and concentrate on getting off the island.

To be honest unless someone raises the issue on the walk home I think it would spread to the others within the afternoon (noting as above that Ambroze will share it with Gelik).

If someone does want to keep it secret he'll agree to keep them happy (although he might need to make will saves if Sasha tries to persuade it out of him).

I'm also going to start the ball rolling on treasure splitting discussions. We haven't worried about this to date for obvious reasons. I see two main options:

1. Simple option. Split items to those best placed to use them. Anything unclaimed gets sold and all treasure evenly split.

2. More complex but (I think) more fair option. Value everything and split into shares. People buy the items they want from the group pool paying the items sale price.

My personal preference (and here admitedly strong bias due to being a terribly greedy item dependant build that badly needs to enchant weapons and armour) is option 2 but I'm not going to whinge if the group wants option 1.

For option 2 I'd normally advocate a sixth share for consumables but we're both relatively poor and have found quite a few of those so we could probably just skip for now and have what we've found be excluded from group loot calculation.

What do people think?

Female Human Oracle 4

I vote option #1, as indicated above. I am not worried about receiving a "fair" share at this point. In general, as a player, I don't care so much about treasure shares. I would prefer that people are given things that they can use. There should still be a goodly amount of gold left when all is said and done.

It seems to me like we're relatively poor, too - is that true, or am I just imagining it? It's sort of why I'm suggesting we beachcomb and clear out the other ships.

Female Elf Witch 3 (favoured) / Rogue 2 HPs 19/27

I would rather option #1, so the characters that benefit most from an item can use it. So far we've been a pretty consensual group and hope that continues. But if more players want option #2, I've no problem there.

Your Humble Narrator

If I get a vote, its for 2. No one really loses out and it helps me judge WBL much easier.

You may seem a little behind but a lot of the wealth you have is in discoveries and scribings that Ambroze took. I already compensated the group for the loss of the armour Mawj was wearing- somewhat.

Once I resolve Marcus' pearl diving it would be nice for a total wealth found breakdown so I can compare to where I want you.

Male Mwangi (Caldaru) Human Ranger 3 (Shapeshifter) / Barbarian 2

Option 1 is typically how my real life group and I tend to do things, but it can be tricky to evaluate WBL as Alex has said. Option 2 is the "more fair" way, but from a character stand point, it doesn't matter to me which option we choose, I happy either way.

Male Human Fighter 5 50/50 hp 4hp nonlethal

OK looks like ambroze has decider (downside of posting last) . Doesn't seem like anyone is too stressed (note Alex I saw when one of your friends games nearly bust up over this very issue) . I can do a calc with pearl figures although we have a few things still to appraise and there's that puzzle box no one managed to open.

If we do go option 1 my only request is that we do sell the marginally useful stuff or our average wealth will end up artificially low which is a pain for us and the gm (8k ring of mind shielding I'm looking at you) . Suspect our shopping opportunities will also be limited moving forward.

Female Human Oracle 4

If it helps AK at all, I'm fine with option #2. It's going to much more complicated, though - much more effort for someone. Fortunately, I have had nothing to do with treasure this whole time :-) Seriously, though, whatever happens, I'm not going to get upset...particularly if we can go shopping (at least to some degree) once we get to the mainland.

Your Humble Narrator

You'll have ample time to shop and sell very soon.

Whos group loot man/woman?

Female Human Oracle 4

Gods, Max, what a job. Thank you.

As far as loot division goes, I'm still a bit undecided. I'm leaning toward option #2, with a sixth share for consumables (potions, alchemical items - anything that anyone could use) as Marcus suggested. But at the same time, I wouldn't want this system to prevent someone from claiming a cool but expensive item that would be really useful for them - such as when Mawj claimed the elven chainmail.

Male Mwangi (Caldaru) Human Ranger 3 (Shapeshifter) / Barbarian 2

Well done!

As far as the +1 scimitar goes, I would be more than willing to throw that back into the loot pile to be sold, especially since Tun'ada is not real likely to use weapons other than the longspear occasionally.

It shouldn't if you do it in a certain way, such as my KM pbper's do. Example- Ricter claimed a +2 flail that he doesn't yet have the treasure share to afford, so the rest of the loot was split among everyone else and he pays his claiming 'debt' out of a smaller treasure share next booty to everyone else. Usually works ok if people don't mind having a little less so someone can claim an item that is clearly well suited to them with the expectation of gaining their lost shares next split.

Agree. Its a basic framework not a set of rules set in stone. If strict application would result in someone missing out on something awesome then we need to adjust on the fly. Although frankly don't see that happening too often for an AP where loot generally steps up smoothly in power.

Female Human Oracle 4

The scroll of Raise Dead is totally going to screw this up to some degree, though. It'd go in the consumables share, would it not? because, there's no way I'm paying for it. We can sell it if need be :-p

Male Human Fighter 5 50/50 hp 4hp nonlethal

Eek no. This was one of the reasons I was inferring we didn't need to bother with a precise seperate consumables share. We can exclude the scolls and potions from the split and treat them as consumables share.

Your Humble Narrator

For things like the Stone of Alarm, i'd suggest you vote on whether its to be sold or kept as a party item. Could be useful, but its also worth a fair bit.

Male Human Fighter 5 50/50 hp 4hp nonlethal

OK suggest we confirm allocation and sale pile before confirming the numbers. Items used or given to NPC's have been removed. All monetary treasure combined.

Ok so this might all seem a bit complicated but I don't think it really is.

We need to do the following and then we can run final numbers.

1. Go through the above list and confirm what people are claiming (the * items). If you don't want them they get sold unless someone else wants them.

2. Decide whether we are selling the ? items which are only: gold locket and mirror (which Chi might want to keep tho the later perhaps not now :), candle of truth, stone of alarm, ring of swimming, maybe ring of mind shielding?

3. Appraise the listed stuff or get someone to do it.

4. Decide the special cases which are the box, the soulgems and the holy symbol. Maybe we just leave the first out alltogether until we can work it out. Assuming the good characters don't like the idea of selling these on the black market should we maybe try and sell/donate them to a good temple?

There are a few grey areas. Do we put things like magic arrows, wands in the group loot consumable pile or do people claim them? Tend to come down on the former less finicky option but at some point we'll need to decide what to do with a fully charged wand of lightning bolts or something.

Your Humble Narrator

Ok, my input here is minimal but-

Golden Locket; are you sure this isn't the one given to the undead 'Captain Kinkarian?'? The ghost that came out ofthe campfire? I thought the undead took it but if not, its worth 500GP.

You completed Jask's quest- when you hand over the documents proving his innocence to the authorities in Eleder you will gain 1,000GP.

The silk pouch containsgarnets and amethyst's worth 500GP in all.

Ambroze's rubbings in the Scriptorium are worth 600GP to an Azlant Historian (not the information from the final room or Ieana's notes but the earlier markings Ambroze has since had the time to note down).

Jask would suggest the gems could be given to good organisations to destroy and free the soul; such temples would pay a reward for doing the right thing. Alternatively, you might decide to simply destroy the gems without financial incentive and free the souls sooner.

Female Human Oracle 4

For my part, I would like to keep my chainmail and buckler. Everything else (sans consumables) could go out the window. Not sure where that leaves me.

Edit: oh, and the MW Backpack.

The ring of swimming, I think we can/should keep, and the candle of truth. Those both might come in handy. The others we can sell. I'd like to say we should keep the mind shielding ring, but... eh.

Was running entirely off Ambroze's list I'll go back through and see if I can find what happened to the locket (might have been pre-me).

Marcus will vote for selling the soulgems to the temple (hey he's a mercenary after all and its not like he knows these people :) but I'm not going to get upset if Gwen or someone puts their foot down.

Female Elf Witch 3 (favoured) / Rogue 2 HPs 19/27

+1 on great job Ambroze..

I'll go through and see what's in Chi's possession.

As Marcus noted, Ambroze is holding onto the following as his share of non-consumable items:
Wickedly Sharp Masterwork 'Short sword' (Med. sized Dagger recovered from the locked chest on the Brine Demon);
Small-sized Masterwork Backpack; and
Wand of Mirror Image, CL 3 (4 charges left now)

Of the consumables, Ambroze has the following:
1 Smokestick
1 Thunderstone
1 Alchemist's Fire
1 Antitoxin
1 Oil flask
1 Potion: CLW
4 Potions: Lesser Restoration

I recommend giving the Wand of Vampiric Touch (CL 5, 14 charges) to Chi since Vampiric Touch is on the witch's spell list.

I don't mind selling the soulgems to a good-aligned temple as long as they will be destroyed. I also wouldn't be opposed to selling the Candle of Truth, the Incense of Meditation (since we don't have a divine spellcaster who prepares spells), and the Stone of Alarm. It might be worth checking around to see if the Stone of Alarm would be worth more to a historian (or the Pathfinder Society) since it has images of serpenfolk battles emblazoned upon it.

Ambroze might want to hold onto the silver unholy symbol of Ydersius as a curiosity - it can count toward his share.
