DM Alexander Kilcoyne's Sargavan Saga

Game Master Alexander Kilcoyne

"What is this place? Puzzles in Azlant, more magic than you see in a year in Absalom. Wheels literally within wheels. Bound demons and wax golems? The expense must have been enormous. But why? To what end?"

I am willing to wait a while longer...

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

I am here for the duration. (Barring my brain flaking out again, that was embarrassing...) I can understand about the home thing. Friend of mine bought a house and it ate her brain. It happens, you get better.

Your Humble Narrator

80 hours+ of work a week eats my brain enough without headache from house purchase and other half...

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

80+ a week? Isn't that in violation of several EU labor standards?

I hope at least you are making a ziggurat of loot.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

*waves* - still floating in the ether.

When I said "a while longer" I meant as long as it takes. :)

The joys of salaried life, eh? I'm still around, if we ever get back into it.

You know, I've often wondered how you pronounce your name, Qhude. Is it "Kood'ay" or "Koo'day" or "kood" or something else?

Cooed, as in "The gentle dove cooed peacefully." Just for the irony. :)

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Mentally I've always thought of it as 'K-hoo-dey' - though that's without verifying how it's actually put together. It's essentially derived from a Zulu word for 'rooster' from isiZulu.net, which has a pronunciation guide... and actually has an mp3 of the word itself! (or iqhude, which is close enough)

I can't hear it at work as I don't get sound, but it looks like it's:
qhude = iˈǃʰuːde

The exclamation mark is actually a click consonant - which from Wikipedia is described thus: q: alveolar (comparable to a bottle top 'pop')

So his actual name is *pop*-u-de... ish...

....I don't know that I am capable of pronouncing that name....

Your Humble Narrator

I had hoped to update weekend just gone, I couldn't unfortunately.

I promise i'll either get back into regular updates this weekend or call time of death, i'm sorry for how frustrating this has been.

Almost there with the house acquisition as well as two major work projects...

I'm in no hurry for you to call it.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

No hurry here either. If you are still interested in running then I am still here. No matter when.

Same.

Also, since I've shown it to about everyone else, here's some lineart I've been working on. Everyone's favorite enchantress at work making 'friends'.

Your Humble Narrator

Very nice :).

Right. Lets continue all! I cannot guarantee a daily pace yet but i'd hate to let this go without giving myself a kick and getting things going again!

As a reminder, since it's been a few months, Qhude, you're Bit of Lucked this round.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Don't worry *pop*ude hasn't forgotten ;)

The colored version of the above.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

hello?

Your Humble Narrator

I'm here. Should be moving into my new place in a couple of weeks. At my fathers right now and I don't even have a desk to use my laptop.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

Sweet! Glad to hear the new place is coming along. Looking forward to the restart.

Your Humble Narrator

In most counties in the UK, the "local search" (various compulsory checks to enable purchase of property) takes 2-3 weeks.

My bumpkin home county estimates 6-8 weeks and does it in 10...

Had expected to be settled at this point.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

ouch!
That is a great deal of not fun.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Still could be worse... my boss bought a flat in KL... and the paperwork took 6 months to process!

Your Humble Narrator

I'm fast approaching 4 months and there is no chain on either end of the transaction...

Male Human

Although it has been great fun, thanks in no small way to both the DM and the players, I have decided to bow out of the game. Please remove both of my aliases (F. Castor and Kieran Markavien) from the Current Characters roster so that the game goes from the Current Campaigns to the Previous Campaigns list. Thank you in advance.

Take care guys! Till the next time we play together! :-)

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

Aw rats.

Sorry to see you go Kieran. And just when I was starting to spell your name correctly too. :7)

AK, I am still in this, how goes the house drama?

Take care and see you around the boards!

(Oh oh)

Sorry to see you go, Kieran. It's been fun!

Your Humble Narrator

I'm moving in (finally) next week on Friday

With about a week to move in properly and get settled... expect to be making regular updates again.

Though I don't really know if the game has a future without Kieran.

Jo I saw your PM, will respond to it before I green light the game again.

That's good news. I guess we'll find out how things work out with regards to Kieran's absence if we start making regular updates again. (Or maybe we can convince him to stick around if it does stay consistent...)

I'd be up for continuing if your life ever gets under control, AK, but I agree it's hard to imagine how we'll progress any further into a trap-filled dungeon without a trapfinder.

I wish to continue of course. If Kieran cannot be convinced to return and/or a replacement player/character cannot be found, I could convert Akirra from a Ranger (Skirmisher) to a Ranger (Trapper) instead, with Alex's blessing of course, to keep the game going.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

Good news on the move boss.

I also hope this game keeps going.

How'd hooking the new house up to the Internet go, Alex?

Sovereign Court

Badly.

I sat at home waiting for 6 hours for an engineer that never turned up, despite over 20 reminder e-mails and texts insisting that I be home for the entire 6 hour slot. BT are one of the worst companies in the world, I hate them with a passion.

They have rescheduled me for Monday, will update if its successful.

Ugh. Sorry to hear that. I hate Comcast, but they're usually at least punctual with their installation appointments. Here's hoping the reschedule goes better.

Sovereign Court

They need to physically put a phone line in so I have no alternative.

How does a house not have a phone line? It's either really, really new ("Ha! Landlines are so twentieth-century!") or really, really old. Or the previous owner stripped it of all copper wiring to sell for scrap.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

Or the previous owner(s) just didn't use the line so the telecom needs to come round and install the 3-4 hardware upgrades they didn't do cause no one was using the line.

Had this happen at a place I was renting in the pre-cell era.

Could also be damage? If the line came down in a storm and there was no one using it.... no real pressure to get the repairs done.

The guy finally show up, AK?

The owner built an extension and moved the line to his extension, leaving the original property without one.

I'm live! Planning on updates tonight.

Looking forward to it! :)

Your Humble Narrator

OK OK... That may have been too ambitious to start again. Will do so on the weekend,

It's going to be like starting up an exercise regimen again when you've fallen off the wagon. You're going to hate it for a while before you get back in the habit. ;P

Your Humble Narrator

To be fair I ended up working late and I have to build a bed from flat packed furniture before Friday :).

Your Humble Narrator

OK.

I'm holding out hope Kieran will return when I can prove regularity in my updates again. Am now settled in with proper internet and the number of house tasks is shrinking :).

Joana, could you narrate Kieran rp-wise for now and I will run him in combat?

Your Humble Narrator

Hi guys,

You see... a second update in a week, i'm on fire!

Joana, waiting on response to that OOC question above.

To keep everyone in the loop I have begged F. Castor to take my sorry hide back and rejoin us.

I fully understand if he wants to see things moving at a steady pace again first.

I can only surmise he has read the PM as other aliases are making posts.
