PWO - did Jakob end up furnishing Qhude with anything for his armband?
As far as can tell he was never asked. Or did I miss a post?
Mind you that might be the best course for qhude to persue at the moment. Jakob is not feeling very group oriented at the moment. I have no clue what to give.

I am thinking no.
Though Jakob would try to avoid hurting your feelings by claiming to have to think about what to give you.
He would consider giving you the Medal but he is not 100% sure that the pirate ship was a set up (looking at you Ansha) and he does not want to insult those folks who actually earned this kind of award.

I must admit I do not understand why Ansha is withholding the information from the pirate note.
Jakob considers it increasingly unlikely that someone with Anshas knowledge and skill/power could be stymied by a code simple enough for a pirate captain to manage. He is likely to ask for the note back to see if he can manage it now that he has Linguistics to toss a Nat Div on.
I am not sure how he will react when he learns that it was all kabuki and that the crew died as part of the game.

Now now, Joana. I am sure we should welcome our new member with open arms, even though he is a stranger found in stasis in a strange pyramid-like structure. After all, strangers should be welcome in an already established party, right? And no, of course I am not using this as a parallel to a certain similar situation of my own. Perish the thought... :-P

In terms of RP (race points) it balances out. Appreciate that isn't a perfect system but can tweak as necessary.
No bonus feat for him as you all have (obviously no Human bonus feat or Skilled either).
A drawback with no bonus trait to compensate.
A negative custom feat.
No downtime bonus trait you all have.
May have been some other penalty I forgot about.
Joana |
It's forty-seven point buy. A feat and a skill point per level aren't worth 22 extra build points. That's a whole other High Fantasy character, plus 2! I mean, plug in Grall's stats at level 6, and it's still only equivalent to a thirty point-buy.
He has a drawback and a negative feat that will both impact the whole party as much as they do him. ("Oh, no! The 47-point-buy combat beast just failed his save vs. dominate! We're all dead!" or "Damn it, he takes a -4 to Climb for the next hour which means we're all stuck here waiting at the foot of the cliff until then.")
An NPC who breaks the rules is one thing: We can all hate and resent and work to undermine him for showing us up. One isn't supposed to feel that way about a party member.
Qhude |
Have to agree with Joana that the statline he has is somewhat abusive.
He's got superhuman stats in all combat relevant statistics, where as the rest of us plebs only have one exceptional stat (Qhude's 18 strength, Kieran's 18 Dex, etc). He has higher HP than Qhude, hits just as hard and has better AC to boot...

I've been giving some thought to what's been said. I'm not certain the incredulous tone of the thread right now is helping (it certainly served to demoralise me, if i'm honest) but I completely understand your concerns.
It did all balance out in Race Points but looking at that system its obviously not a great one to do this. I was balancing against a normal Human who can get +2 to two stats and nothing else and penalising based on that to give an equivalent of four more +2's, including not allowing Okoya goodies that others have such as the bonus campaign feats.
I'd like to have found some way to make it work but between an Azlant Pureblood's stats, Okoya's desire not to be nerfed and the group's desires to not be overshadowed I think I will just retcon the whole thing.
Proposed Retcon: The body you found lying in Stasis is actually Mwangi (which I suspect might change Tebati's reaction at the least). This is completely consistent with the fluff of the Order of Arioch (I appreciate your not aware of all this yourselves yet). Okoya's character will still have limited memories (which may return in time), but no mechanical penalties and a normal Human. Okoya, I appreciate you may have wanted to go Elf, if I recall correctly, but thats not really an option i'm afraid.

DMAK - wasn't meaning to be incredulous... but still stand by the assertion that the Azlanti pureblood +2 to all stats allowed for a degree of minmaxing over and above what the rest of us had available.
I know and appreciate that there was an attempt to haul him back down... and the penalties do make a reasonable effort at that outside of combat... but just not in combat.
Making him a mwangi is a better fit fluffwise as well in my eyes... as I can't see General Morvius allowing an Azlanti pureblood to be risked by remaining out here in peril - I'd think he'd be shipped off back to the capital pronto.

*shrug* Tebati's far from a force in combat, so it's not a personal affront. But the thing about Azlanti pureblood is that they're not meant to be 'balanced.' The whole point of them existing is that they're head-and-shoulders above everyone else. They're Khan: eugenically-gifted supermen who make everyone else look like lightweights. If you could 'handicap' one down to being the same power-level as everyone else, seems like it would miss the whole point.
You might apply the physical middle-age penalties for the sheer accretion of centuries, preservation magic or no, without including the mental bonuses, to model the mind-wipe. That would take him down to a 30-point-buy equivalent (16, 16, 15, 10, 16, 10, iirc).
And no, Ansha hasn't given up yet- she's looking for something's skull to put in the device, since she's not about to wake up an Azlanti without first trying to pry his secrets from him.
If it's just a skull you want, you could use the unfortunate inmate of the neighboring cell. ;P

Hey Akirra what is a "paueliel composite longbow"? I found info on paueliel trees on the Pathfinder Wiki but no rules impact but you appear to be able to use full str with the bow w/o it being a str bod or enchanted past the +1?
Did I miss something somewhere?
