DM Alexander Kilcoyne's Sargavan Saga

"What is this place? Puzzles in Azlant, more magic than you see in a year in Absalom. Wheels literally within wheels. Bound demons and wax golems? The expense must have been enormous. But why? To what end?"

Roger that chief - Qhude's likely off for a nap anyway once he has a quick chat with the prisoners.

Jakob's going to end up like Lemuel Gulliver. :)

Jakob's wisdom is wasted on you Yahoos. :7)

Hmmm Houyhnhnm is a great name for a caster type.

Sovereign Court

Sorry all. I've gone from an ample amount of free time to working a 45 hour Monday-Friday week on my feet all day. In the 4 hours I get where i'm not asleep or at work i'm unpacking into my new studio flat.

Doesn't help i'm not yet doing computer work, which i'll be doing more of as time goes by. Slowdown shouldn't be too long, just need to get settled.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

no troubles boss. We can deal.

People keep calling me a witch...why? ;P

Sovereign Court

Attractive females were called Witches frequently without any actual evidence of magic, historically :). Throw in some evidence and its shocking people don't assume it more often.

That was a joke. ;P

Sovereign Court

Planning to update after work tonight. Sorry for the slowdown- usually i'll be able to make large updates on weekends but I was bringing Alina down to our new flat and unpacking.

Your Humble Narrator

Just on an OOC note, the next few levels are planned to revolve around you delving this ancient structure further. I am happy to discuss tweaks to the story and potential hooks to get you interested in this, but it has to be a two-way process; co-operate with me please?

There is an awful lot going in in the background of the game and things your not yet aware of as PC's. The game will, I suspect, become far more sandbox-like at a later stage but for now its difficult for me to advance without the assumption you will continue to delve.

Admittedly, this post is primarily for Jakob :) but I think its relevant enough to post here rather than PM.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

No prob. I think not chasing down the ape molester is the wrong call but Jakob will stick with the group and delve within.

The important thing to Jakob is finding out what this thing is for/hiding.
Poking it with a stick i.e Qhude ( :7) ) is the second best way to get the info and that will be good enough to go on.

Sovereign Court

Good to hear. Though i'm not objecting at all to you trying to find out what the hell prompted a mass assault on your camp! Was just worried Jakob was on the verge of leaving the group for good.

Male Human

I will be leaving later today for a few days, meaning I will have no computer access until about Monday. I will give posting from my phone a try if I can connect to the internet, but even so, posts will be a bit on the brief side. Please DMPC Kieran as needed so as not to hold up the game.

F. Castor-

Reading through the Sentinel today on D20PF-

Quote:

Divine Quickness (Ex)

Starting at 4th level, so long as the sentinel carries his deity's favored weapon, he gains a +2 sacred or profane bonus on initiative checks. The weapon doesn't need to be carried in hand, but must at least be on his person and accessible enough that he can wield it with no greater than a move action.

I'm going to make the same ruling apply to your initiative bonus. It irks me that you need to have the blade out to react quicker. The Sentinel method is far more sensible.

I confess to being at a loss for an appropriate token.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Glass bead from your chimes?

Edit: as teenagery as it sounds, Qhude's intending to work the bits and bobs into his armband to wear as a 'friendship / family armband'.

You could get a lock of everyone's hair and braid them together into a bracelet. ;)

What hair would Qhude use? :P

(sorry)

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

While Qhude's avatar is a bald Osiriani gentleman... he is not - from his appearance: Hair is cropped short, but remains in tight curls against his head.

There isn't exactly a plethora of good Mwangi avatars to choose from. Even Tebati is an outsider from the Darklands, and from memory N'bellocq is a Keleshite.

We've trod this ground before ;)

Ridiculously busy--will try to post later tonight though.

Sovereign Court

Know that feeling :)

Man, if even barbarians with 8 Wisdom are seeing through Ansha, she just needs to give it up. ;P

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Qhude merely informed by empirical evidence.... that plus big words that he can't understand :P

Pretty sure Ansha could say that the sky is blue and Qhude would suspect she had some ulterior motive. ;)

...And he would probably be right!

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

I know I would.
But then I suspect the sky has a motive as well.

I know, right? The way it just looms over your head, waiting...waiting... Like it's going to fall around your ears at any moment. Or the way it darkens and threatens to pour out its contents all over you on a whim, and maybe throw in a bolt or two of lightning to keep you on your toes.

That sky...just can't trust it.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

it's .... it's everywhere.....watching...waiting..

At this point, what are we waiting on before we head back into the pyramid? A place to introduce Okoya's character and/or Qhude's gathering of material for a fetish?

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Qhude's inquiries can easily be flextimed.

Sovereign Court

We're not waiting on Okoya's character. I'm basically waiting on the Umkhaya to prep and enter :).

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Have made dramatic time-jump post - sorry for being the cause of cessation of forward moving activities.

Nicely done. Jakob is an elision. Have to add that to his occupation tab.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

Actually that was a good call on Qhude's part Jakob may be a member of the expedition but he is not part of the umkhaya.

I think the rest of the party, Qhude included, still consider him part of the Umkhaya, even if he does not consider himself so to be.

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

The after seeing each in turn line implies otherwise but Q could be felxtimeing I suppose.

He did mention he did a huge time-jump post to avoid further slowdown a few posts up. I wouldn't read anything into it.

We're going back into the pyramid in the afternoon following the nighttime attack. If you guys are waking with the dawn, you've already been left behind. ;)

And Qhude didn't even say he was going to look for Kieran. Mark indicated above that he'd deal with the rest of the token-gathering in flextime.

It's still nighttime, isn't it? If it is, then dawn would follow...and then afternoon would follow dawn, right? Or did I miss a time-lapse post in there somewhere?

EDIT: No, wait. I did miss that it was now the following morning by the time we had our debriefing with Morvius. I take no responsibility for that flub--I was just following Qhude's lead! ;P

"The next morning...."

Assume appropriate timeframes...or alternatively, Ansha, Qhude and Jakob decide to wait til the afternoon, miss the boat (so to speak) and wait for you all to come back. ;P Maybe they even explore their...feelings....together.

We aren't waiting on my character, my character is waiting on you all. :)

Alex has my intro worked out... just need the party to trigger the event. ;)

Nicely done. Jakob is an elision. Have to add that to his occupation tab.

First quote was what he was doing in real time.

Second quote was what I put down to describe for AK what Qhude did - as in see everyone in the party then sleep.

As Joana indicated, the language is clear enough that he was going to see each and everyone in turn (as in Kieran after Jakob) but I wanted to give AK the broad strokes of what Qhude did so that we could move on from the morning and into the afternoon and into the ziggurat once more.

Though if Jakob is set on perpetuating himself as an outsider to everyone... he can always refuse the request.

Sovereign Court

I suspect Jakob is to be as included as he wants to be, especially with Qhude's new zen.

Will take quite a lengthy sit down to update you entering the third level. Not something I can do at work or in the precious few hours I get afterwards. Expect an update Saturday evening.

Sovereign Court

Strike that. The open wifi network I pay for to get internet at my new place disappeared all weekend... posting from phone. My own router and broadband line goes active in a few days.

Boo for internet problems making us wait longer! (But at least it's worth the wait.)

Hey, AK, for future reference, is this spell approved?

Because Ansha has only contempt for mundane traps. A poison needle? Whatever. That's what the party cleric is for.

I would also remind her of Alex's house rules on the campaign tab.

Detect Magic Changes-

1. You must make a will save against an illusions DC+2 to realise it is an illusion and have its magical aura register while using Detect Magic. The increase in DC is to represent that your not really interacting with it in any sensory way (close inspection, using hands/hearing) as well as balancing a cantrip against higher level spells. This will save will be made by me in secret.
2. You will no longer be able to detect magic auras that are part of a trap until the trap is triggered. In the process of making a magical trap, part of the creation includes a permanent Magic Aura spell masking the aura. Resetting such a trap includes a re-activation of the Magic Aura spell.

Sigh, makes me nostalgic for the old TSR player graveyards. But then 1st ed characters were much easier to make.
