DM Alexander Kilcoyne's Sargavan Saga

Game Master Alexander Kilcoyne

"What is this place? Puzzles in Azlant, more magic than you see in a year in Absalom. Wheels literally within wheels. Bound demons and wax golems? The expense must have been enormous. But why? To what end?"

AK is Qhude able to understand Azlanti at the moment? I think so but wanted to confirm.

Your Humble Narrator

Yes :). The group would have had an interesting time with Linguistics rolls if Qhude hadn't have drunk from that basin.

That decision is, of course, not going to have any ramifications later. Not at all.

Your Humble Narrator

Combination of illness and guests has kept me from posting (as well as a bit too much computer games if i'm honest). I'll update tomorrow, sorry for the wait.

Bad DM. No biscuit. ;P

Two of my games are in combat rounds; two of them the DMs are in deep denial about ever getting them running again and refuse to face facts and mark them as inactive; two are run by a DM who's offline until Tuesday for fear of being accidentally spoiled for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary before he can see it; and one is in sandbox-inflicted option paralysis. You're my only hope, AK.

Your Humble Narrator

I'm on it Joana! :D

Yay! We win! :D

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

:P - Qhude is going to see what (if anything) other party members might say to his suggestion before he weighs in himself.

No one ever takes the wizard seriously until she starts throwing fireballs. >_>

Maybe you should learn that one. :)

Level me up to 5 and I will!

Your Humble Narrator

Speaking of level up's, your actually going to hit 4 reasonably soon :).

1 person marked this as a favorite.

It will be interesting to see whether we hit level 4 while still stuck in this pyramid, and if so, how we will find access to the "training" and downtime necessary to go about levelling-up.

Your Humble Narrator

Pfft please. DM is well ahead of you.

I never doubted for an instant. ;P There's just the matter of seeing how you unfold it.

Here's to hitting level 5 sooner than later. Fireball and Suggestion, here I come. Sure beats any of the second-level spells I get at wiz 4, anyway....

Your Humble Narrator

Is your stat point going in Con Ansha?

Have I ever said that I dislike that Ansha's Charisma isn't 17+? Because that's probably where it's going to go. It's really, really non-optimal, but....

Your Humble Narrator

I'm surprised you didn't envision her as a Sorceror initially :)

It just makes sense in my head for Ansha to have 17+ Int and Charisma scores, and middling everything else.

I've never really liked spontaneous casters. I prefer a bit more versatility than sorcerers get; and I grew up with 1st/2nd edition AD&D computer games like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale (not to mention the old SSI Gold Box games like Gateway to the Savage Frontier), so I'm used to the wizard style of Vancian magic.

Ansha's morphed a bit since I first started playing her, too. Back in 3.5, my tabletop group used a seventh Appearance stat separate from Charisma. Back then, her Charisma was 10 and her Appearance was like 20 (whatever splatbook we were using gave elves a bonus to Appearance). Then we started playing Pathfinder and we folded Appearance and Charisma together again.

Besides, I've always liked enchanter specialist wizards, and I often hear that they should have decent Charisma scores.

Thankgiving-ing here. Will post later tonight.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Your Humble Narrator

Enjoy :). Think we're waiting for me to narrate the door opening anyway; i've just come back from a night out. But i'll update before I go to sleep. Cus i'm just that dedicated.

Standing in line at Staples. Someone post something- I'm bored.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Something :P

So helpful ;P

So on a scale from 1 to 10, how much is it eating Ansha up that the forces of law and order are totally untroubled by letting her in but concerned about Tebati's dangerously destabilizing influence? ;)

Seven-ish. But she consoles herself knowing that their underestimation of her makes it easier for Ansha to gleefully cause more mayhem in the future.

Also, it means that Ansha can try to pin the blame on Tebati. "Who, me? Of course I'd never steal your husband's heart- or your jewelry. But that Tebati woman...You never can tell with those clerics of chaotic deities."

Your Humble Narrator

Don't worry Ansha you'll be popping up on Detect Chaos radar in a couple of levels ;).

Meowzebub hasn't checked in since Thanksgiving, but N'belloq's still down some hit points and might want to take advantage of the free healing before the orreries vanish.

If I play my cards right, I'll show up on Detect Evil too. ;P. I just need to find an orphanage or two to set on fire...

Is it just me, or is this chick Seoni's evil brunette identical cousin a la Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie? Same dress, same leg tattoos, same silicone enhancements....

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Similarity is pretty striking isn't it.

There's a few similarities, but really it just reminds me how much I love Wayne Reynolds' art. I wish I were that good...

Man, I wish I had more Magic Missile scrolls or something. Acid Splash at-will doesn't seem so useful on things with acid resist 10 (standard demon subtype trait).

Male Human Haunted Nature Oracle 4 (Ac 20 Cmd 20 Will+4 Ref+2 Fort+4)

I have some bad news.

As you have no doubt noticed I have not been keeping up with the posting part of this play by post. My workplace has tightened up on 'personal' use of the net so I am really only able to post on weekends/evenings and that has simply not been happening.

I am afraid I need to exit this game. I am very sorry, you are all excellent players and as I have said before Alexander Kilcoyne's game are the gold standard for play-by-post. I will miss you all.

I hope this will not cause too much disruption and I will follow your exploits with great enthusiasm.

Your former party member.
Jakob.

Sorry to see you go, Jakob. It's been fun having you with us--sadly, I foresee the party will descend into barbarism and debauchery (well, moreso than it already has) without its moral compass. ;P

Moral compass? That would be Tebati. Jakob stopped being useful/needed somewhere before Freehold. Still it was fun tagging along.

Your Humble Narrator

Have we also lost Meowzebub?

I see no reason to call time of death on the game unless other people are also wanting to give it up. We're on the verge of some more semi-downtime and level up anyway so a pretty convenient time to make these decisions.

1- Is our friendly Zen Archer still with us?

2- Does the group want to continue as a 5 (or 4) or recruit other players? I am completely and utterly indifferent on this point; I could go either way.

3- I'm trying to pace this so I update daily except on weekends. I will also always bot (as long as I can get to the PC myself) after i've been waiting 24 hours for a player (or a weekend where i'm more lenient). Is this an issue for people?

I'm okay with 5, a bit iffy on four but not opposed to it. Not sure we've lost Meowzebub yet, but who knows. If we decide to recruit, we do still have a pair of alternates from waaaay back when we started, plus the gentleman who made a pitch to join us (whose name I can't remember, and I don't have time to look it up atm).

Botting isn't an issue for me, but I'm almost always able to post more than once a day.

Incidentally, I will cling to this PbP til there's literally no life left in it, and then I'll try to give it CPR. It's the one I enjoy most of the three I'm in, even if it's not the most-updated.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Pretty sure that Meowzebub is still around, just busy - I've dropped him an email to check up.

Jakob - sorry to see you go... despite the tears and fears it was a fun ride.

I'm also in for the long long haul, and would be happily continue with 4 or 5.

Can a Neutral character be a moral compass? Maybe like the stopped clock that's right twice a day. That or I'm not playing her right.

Sorry you're leaving us, PWO. Jakob's tilting at windmills will be missed. Thanks for being forthright about your intentions instead of just disappearing on us.

Meowzebub's been missing from Mark's game as well, but not for good, I don't think. Because I am an accomplished internet stalker, I note that he posted in one of his games that work was going to be busy for him until mid-December and posting might be scarce until then. Give him at least another week to check in, I'd say.

Definitely want to keep playing. I love Tebati and the group. If we haven't lost Meow, I'm happy with five; if we have, we might want to look to add some ranged capabilities ... assuming we're not going to be dungeon-crawling most of the time anyway. Ranged characters don't get to have a great deal of fun in enclosed spaces.

Male Human

I may have slowed down due to real life, I do admit, but I have no intention of dropping this game. I do not mind continuing with five players, although I am a fan of "the more the merrier" saying where a gaming party is concerned (up to a point, of course). As far as four go though, I think that in that case it would be better if we recruited some new blood.

Your Humble Narrator

Thanks for the reassurance guys. Truth be told I am getting very weary of losing players. At least Jakob is kind enough to make his intentions clear.

I agree 5 is probably a better number than 4. We'll give Meow some time.

As for recruitment, I don't want Overfiend in my games so he is off the list. I know DM Barcas is a busy chap these days so i'd rather not add another very busy person to my games.

Your Humble Narrator

Just typed out a huge narrative during N'bellocq's action, in which an AOO was provoked while he fired etc...

Then remembered just as I was about to post he has Point Blank Master. Doh.

Khaladon, maybe? (Now that I've actually had the time to look up who it was that requested to join the game previously.) Of course, he only explicitly mentioned Qhude and Jakob in his praises, and I do so love being praised....

(Also, no summoners.)

Khaladon was in the game I'm running and dropped out due to lack of time, choosing to focus on the games he'd been in the longest. Wander Weir, the third alternate from the original recruitment, left the Paizo boards entirely about a year ago.

Male Human (Mwangi - Bas'o tribe) Barbarian (Brutal Pugilist archetype) 4

Got a reply from Meowzebub - he's dealing with a big pile of real life right now - but will be back once it's over.

Good to hear he's alive and well, at least!

Wasn't aware of that. I liked him :).
