Kip Bendybrook |
Ilya's just a cameo role right now that Tanner is kindly willing to play.
I know, but it is still good to have him back. And you did say, "...just a cameo right now..." ;)
Yes, sorry to foist two apprentices on you Kip. I struggled to think of named characters who would suit being some of your lieutenants. Possibly, you could recruit Perlivash, the faerie dragon? :P.
No worries. Casters, and especially wizards, are pretty rare at this time around here. I'm thinking that whenever Kip's tree town/academy gets started I could advertise for a dean or professor of magic. :)
Kip Bendybrook |
Malthir is NOT having any bloody faeries running around the castle!!! This is a man's kingdom!!! :]
I thought we had a "don't ask, don't tell" policy here. :)
Kip Bendybrook |
On a final note... I think Kip might have had an item he wanted to be sold via the kingdom's markets.
It was the wand of lightning bolt and was sold previously I believe. You may have handled it in the narrative though rather than a kingdom turn.
I'll see if I can find the post...
EDIT: Here is the relevant text and a link to the post. I assumed the sale (4725gp) and have already removed the wand from Kip's sheet... but the proceeds are still unspent (the bulk of Kip's coin wealth at this point). If this was premature I can add the wand back and deduct the coin.
EDIT #2: I just realized... maybe Artus wants a job? Join Team Kip! Get with the winning side! :D
Kip Bendybrook |
Before we set our underlings to task... can we brainstorm the ongoing issues and loose threads we currently have unresolved?
I'll start the list (in no particular order):
Ehaism-Caesin and her claim. (I believe Calenwen is still waiting for our answer?)
The Blodeuwedd
The Will'o'wisps
The Elder Worg involvement and the attack on Lord Sirian
Kargadd the rock troll is still on the loose.
Kip Bendybrook |
Since it was such a short list... I went and did Ricter's WBL.
I hope you don't mind James.
Ricter's Total WBL = 32804.1 gp in gear + 242 gp in cash = 33046.1 gp
Gear Breakdown:
- Weapons = 10330 gp
- Armor = 4170 gp
- Mundane Gear = 170.1 gp
- Mount w/tack = 134 gp
- Magic (Wondrous) = 18000 gp
- Magic (Wands) = 0 gp
- Magic (scrolls) = 0 gp
- Magic (Potions) = 0 gp
PS I can do others by request if you wish. I have some time... :)
DM Alexander Kilcoyne |
I believe Ricter was the most behind so i'm glad I gave him some small boosts via Signifer Grachius.
Kip, the Artus stuff was mostly flavor text and I still expected you to make the roll to represent your effort... But I will let it slide now for simplicity. I'll be clearer in future. As for recruiting him... you'd have to find him again :).
To add to Kip's list...
99 problems but a Troll King ain't one!
Ehaism-Caesin and her claim. (I believe Calenwen is still waiting for our answer?)
Yup she will eventually turn up in Swordhaven if you don't give an answer.
The Blodeuwedd.
The Will'o'wisps.
The Elder Worg involvement and the attack on Lord Sirian.
Kargadd the rock troll is still on the loose.
The "River Patriots" dissenting.
Influx of mercenaries moving through Kardas to join the northern confict.
You never really did seem to puzzle out why the gigantic Owlbear was so obsessed with attacking a location so far from its home...
Kip Bendybrook |
Ok... At the time I think I believed that the wand fell under the value to just be sold without going through the kingdom. It was close enough I seem to remember Kip offering to discharge a few bolts into some Hell Knights to ensure that is was. :)
And yes, the "River Patriots". Aren't they playing the "Vierkirche Vandals " in the monday nighter? :)
Ok.. more serious now... where does Kip send his cheque of support to these wonderful patriots doing such good work? :D
Kip is SO going to get smited! ;)
Kip Bendybrook |
Alex-way, ou-ya orgot-fay e-thay oiler-spay!
:D
Casimir |
Herolab puts Casimir's total gear value at around 31.050 gp. That's not counting most of his consumables plus his cash.
If Kip has time on his hands, he's welcome to do a full audit.
Alex, how do the expanded leadership rules affect us with the Leadership feat?
Kip Bendybrook |
While Alex is trying to blow Kip up with explosive notes... I went and did Kalev's WBL. :)
Kalev's total WBL = 37566.6 gp in gear + 4844.14 gp in cash = 42410.74 gp
Gear Breakdown
- Weapons = 9559 gp
- Armor = 4590 gp
- Mundane Gear = 229.6 gp
- Mount w/tack = 538 gp
- Magic (Wondrous) = 21500 gp
- Magic (Wands) = 0 gp
- Magic (scrolls) = 0 gp
- Magic (Potions) = 1150 gp
Kip Bendybrook |
I have to run out for a bit... but I can check out Cas for sure if you wish. And then I might as well do Fenna... :)
And I was curious about the Leadership feat interaction as well.
DM Alexander Kilcoyne |
No interaction. These additional rules were essentially the reason I was always sorely tempted to scrap Leadership as a feat in the first place.
Casimir's three people from his leadership feat do not count towards his retinue. His retinue is also not the "stay at home" type (unless counterspying).
Wow. Not sure how Kalev ended up with so much stuff! I imagine some disparity resulted from how much people used the Crafting feats before I house-ruled them/
Casimir |
Yup, we did take full advantage of the ample time for crafting before you pulled the brake on that one. Just looking over my own items, I notice my armor, my amulet of natural armor +2 and my CHA headband standing out, all of which I got at half price.
Kip Bendybrook |
Casimir's total WBL = 35985.32 gp in gear + 4613.2 gp in coin = 40598.52 gp
This includes all consumables. Everything listed on your character sheet.
Gear Breakdown
- Weapons = 4054 gp
- Armor = 5555 gp
- Mundane Gear (including alchemical) = 942.32 gp
- Mount w/tack = 134 gp
- Magic (Wondrous) = 21500 gp
- Magic (Wands) = 3150 gp
- Magic (scrolls) = 550 gp
- Magic (Potions) = 100 gp
*Note: As with Kip, a portion of the wands, potions and scrolls are party treasure.
PS I also noticed you have no arrows to go with your bow. :)
Fenna Thistleswade |
If Kip doesn't do it in the meantime, I'll have a WBL breakdown up at the weekend.
And Malthir, just curious, but as Magister (the one who "guides a kingdom’s higher learning and magic") I assumed that my future (tree?) city(?) would be the center of learning in Kardas. Vierkirche is the proposed religious center of Kardas already no?
Well, religion and learning kind of go hand in hand, given the hefty discounts you get from a cathedral, but that's no reason we can't have two cities devoted to knowledge.
Kip Bendybrook |
I'll work up your WBL shortly Fenna. :)
Absolutely we can have two centers of learning. One devoted to the divine and religious, and the other to the arcane. I see Kip's tree city as a university town... libraries and academies next to taverns and magic shops. With a brothel or two thrown in. :)
The academy in Vierkirche can be focused on turning out pious warriors and devout clerics, while the one in Kip's city can be one devoted to the arcane arts. Training wizards and sorcerers and such.
As I mentioned to Malthir on IM, Kip is keen on getting his school of magic started. The sooner the better. He doesn't want to be seen as neglecting his portfolio. :)
Kip Bendybrook |
Fenna's total WBL = 19272.2 gp in gear + 8045.03 gp in coin = 27317.23 gp
Gear Breakdown
- Weapons = 343.6 gp
- Armor = 6555 gp
- Mundane Gear = 230.5 gp
- Mount w/tack = 188.1 gp
- Magic (Wondrous) = 10800 gp
- Magic (Wands) = 555 gp
- Magic (Scrolls) = 400 gp
- Magic (Potions) = 200 gp
*Note: As with Kip, a portion of the wands, potions and scrolls are party treasure.
Also: I did not include the Azlant Pendant as I'm not sure what it is worth. :)
And: Herolab insists that potions cannot be made of spells with a range of personal. (ie Exp. Retreat) :/
Kip Bendybrook |
In the interest of completeness, I calculated Malthir's WBL and put it into the same format as all the others for ease of comparison. As you can see my figures do not match Malthir's. :(
I am unsure as to the reason for the difference. I entered all of Malthir's gear (as listed on his character sheet) into HeroLab (as I did with the others) and it has an almost identical final total. If something is amiss, please let me know and I will make the necessary adjustments.
Malthir's total WBL = 40802.6 gp in gear + 3344.84 gp in coin = 44147.44 gp
Malthir's total WBL = 40802.6 gp in gear + 3344.84 gp in coin + gifts 10540* = 54687.44 gp
Gear Breakdown
- Weapons = 19032.5 gp
- Armor = 9907 gp
- Mundane Gear = 127.1 gp
- Mount w/tack = 136 gp
- Magic (Wondrous) = 11000 gp
- Magic (Wands) = 0 gp
- Magic (Scrolls) = 0 gp
- Magic (Potions) = 600 gp
Note: Potions of Bless fall into the same category as Exp. Retreat above
*Gifts: Soul Mate Necklaces (8540 gp) & Wedding Chalice of Poison Detection (2000 gp) (no price was given anywhere I could find, so I did my own calculation)

BTW the Kingdom size just reached 21, which means Malthir and Vaysh can add their bonus to two kingdom attributes!
We are good on loyalty and Stability for a while so I was going to add another large building in two turns as well as continue to expand the kindgom as quickly as possible.
Next major building will be an Arena.
Malthir Al Dagon |
Alex, we have 5 hexes we will need to explore in turn 32 to finish out the map to a reasonable semblance. 1/2 day in hex A63. A62, A61, then A51, A52. I think at that point we would be okay not exploring for a couple of months.
Let us know how to proceed, I have the next Kingdom turn ready as well.
So does anyone else want to start up a city in the break? Kip has expressed interest, we wo't get much done on it in the first year but year two of the break we will begin to work on it in earnest...
Malthir Al Dagon |
Malthir Al Dagon wrote:BTW the Kingdom size just reached 21, which means Malthir and Vaysh can add their bonus to two kingdom attributes!Does that also mean Malthir's a Duke, now?
It seems rather arbitrary to suddenly get that title, I would rather earn it somehow...why not just make myself king???? :]
Baron/Duke whatever...they are only titles...
Kip Bendybrook |
I think "Grand Poobah" has a nice ring to it.
I would call him that... but only if he was wearing the HAT! :D
DM Alexander Kilcoyne |
I have Craft Wondrous Item, I could make a magic one! Giving it +5 to Diplomacy and +5 to Intimidate (fine qualities of rulership) would only cost 5,000gp.
Be very careful assuming the DM will allow crafting of custom items on anything other than a case by case basis ;)
Kip Bendybrook |
For simplicity sake, and assuming I do not come up with something else in the mean time, Kip will assign his underlings thusly:
Lord Sirian is to further research and investigate Ehaism-Caesin and her claim. If the application of magic is required to enhance his studies or required to make inquiries outside of Kardas (and possibly the prime material plane), Lord Sirian is to inform Kip and he will attempt to acquire the necessary funding. Kip is sure to emphasise the urgency created by the limited time remaining and impress upon him that this is of the highest priority...
Doritian Queck is to further research the Blodeuwedd. Specifically this particular enclave and its known history if any exists. He is also to assist Lord Sirian as required.
Zordion Kaleb is to attempt to discern the reason, or reasons, for the gigantic owlbear's peculiar behaviour. He is also to assist both Lord Sirian and Doritian when requested.
Kip will endeavour to help each of them in any way that he can, while also continuing to plan towards the foundation of Kardas' first school of magic and higher learning.
Lord oKOyA |
While we wait... enjoy!
This one is safe for work. Most of the others on this site? Not so much. ;)
DM Alexander Kilcoyne |
Still adding bits and bobs to it but its a functional thread etc.
We'll keep the same discussion thread.
As far as it being arbitrary Malthir, why not simply have Malthir decide he is tired of being talked down to as a "mere Baron"; politically, declaring Kardas as a Duchy and Malthir as a Duke makes a lot of sense; people in Brevoy are rather too busy to do much about it.
The fact it happens to coincide with the size requisite being met is just OOC gravy.
I'll keep the Chapter 2 thread active for a few days before retiring it.
Malthir- are you planning to explore the remaining hexes in the first month?
Please dot the IC as soon as possible to get the campaign on your respective list/dots/focus etc.
Kip Bendybrook |
Um... isn't this still the OOC thread?
Eric Zylstra |
Congrats on finishing Part 2!
Does Vaysh get any lieutenants? I have a suggestion . . . .
Name: Astrid
Description: A 6'5" Ulfen with at least some orcish blood; she carries a sword so big that most would-be assassins' final thought is "How the &*%@ can she swing tha---."
Ostensible Task: Bodyguard to Vaysh/Mini-Mal
Real Task: Foiler of DM AK's child-endangerment plotlines [or at least the obvious ones--cue maniacal laughter in background]

She is about to have lieutenant Malthir Jr., that will probably keep her pretty busy :]
Malthir Al Dagon |
We're still using this OOC thread (it is linked to both campaigns). Malthir, before you hide Kingmaker Chapter 2 forever I recommend you read Ricter's closing post :)
I did read his post and got a good chuckle out of it...I see he plans to ruin Malthir's plans at redeeming him....damn Hellknights!
DM Alexander Kilcoyne |
Reminder: Casimir, Malthir and Ricter have about 6/7 hours to assign some minion duties before the chance is lost until next month. Everyone else's tasks seem to be reasonably ongoing.
Eric: Vaysh doesn't get a retinue as a non-PC but Malthir could definitely assign one of his as her bodyguard, wouldn't be a bad idea even though Akiros functions somewhat in that capacity.
Joana |
Passed along from Sargavan Saga, per AK's request:
I didn't get time to update you guys but I have been rushed away for a teamwork building weekend by my degree programme. This is the first window i've had to get on the internet since midday Friday and its a 2 minute window, its crazy intense.
Please spread the word where necessary, i'm back in action on monday!
Malthir Al Dagon |
I guess we do need a map update, things are back to normal at work, expect something up in the next little while since I already have the map update done.
I think we can probably do another Kingdom Turn then explore some more in the SE that we didn't finish up, this was also where the Worgs were, it will be good to have the entire group if we run into them.
If everyone is good with that I will get that up today as well including the last turn spreasheet.
