Ricter:

In case you didn't look at those articles I mentioned, the "Reckoning" the Signifer refers to is essentially the Hellknight's version of 'confession' for not adhering to the principles of the Hellknights and in particular, your order. In downtime, i've really just assumed that Ricter is having quite a lot of Reckonings, as will many Hellknights under his command; for not purging chaotic elements such as the Fey (and perhaps Kip himself!) living in Kardas. You all know that its for the greater purpose of the alliance with Kardas and adhering to the legitimate authority of Baron Malthir and the Statkari, but these ritualised punishments are sacred nonetheless.

The Order of the Chain's particular reckoning is a fairly gruesome one that is said to harden the body and spirit. Chains are placed around your limbs and tightened to extremely painful levels- and this punishment is not permitted to be healed naturally.

I'm also assuming you'll go find the Signifer sometime soon to have a chat, if not he'll come find you. More than happy to add more depth to the Hellknights including additional NPC's if it would make the game more immersive for you- I have a few in my mind already.

Kip hooks up with Sootscales and Mikmek inside the castle. Lord Sirian's body has been quietly moved into one of the empty chambers on the castle's uppermost floor, and laid upon a simple stone table. Jhod makes himself available at your earliest convenience and performs a ritual of Gentle Repose to prevent the body decomposing any further and sanctifying it.

Kip:

Sootscales is especially pleased to see you safely return. Since your combined efforts in destroying the Gyronna Cult you have seen very little of the agile, resourceful Kobold; but you get the impression you are held in high regard by both him, Mikmek and his kobold underlings; and perhaps by extension, Kardas' kobolds.

The fifty warriors silently rise, the Hellknights themselves once more donning their helmets. They raise their arms in a grim, silent salute to Baron Malthir after his speech. Signifer Grachius shakes Malthir's hand with his plate gauntlets, replying in his grim tone of voice-

We have, my Lord Baron. Baroness Vaysh is a virtuous and wise ruler and a most worthy lady. A few of the men were teleported off-target, but every man is now accounted for. Forgive my frankness, but the sooner we have a permanent base of operations a little detached from Swordhaven itself the smoother our alliance will go in the eyes of your people. Kardasholme is a fine castle, but we need a dedicated haven of our own, especially to test our armigers for suitably among our ranks. Field Maralictor Vorsk would be better placed than I to explain our needs, but some of our necessary rituals will merely frighten the common people.

Grachius shakes Kalev's hand perhaps even more firmly than Malthirs. The man's grip is strong and firm and he seems to be openly testing Kalev's strength; he grunts in satisfaction as the Half-Orc easily matches his own.

You honour us with your words, Marshall Kalev. It is indeed sad that force of arms must be used to guarantee peace, but the hearts of men are weak. Perhaps all men's hearts. A man is nothing but a creature that has learned how to be dishonest, even to himself. If only every man could master dominion over himself, there would be no need for Hellknights at all and the burden we bear. You have taken many lives- I have little doubt you know of what I speak he replies sombrely.

We have heard many stories of the prowess and abilities of each of the Guardians of the Greenbelt in our short time here.

The Iomedean slowly salutes each of you in turn, his voice almost sounding ritualised as he says a sentence for each of you, except for Ricter himself.

The piety and unwavering courage of Baron Malthir. The potent magic and calm grace of Councillor Fenna. The quick wit and swifter blade of Lord Casimir. The arcane might of Magister Kip. And the mighty strength and endurance of Marshall Kalev. Field Maralictor Vorsk's deeds have also reached our ears, but we expect no less from him.

Reaching forward to give Kalev a warrior's handshake once more, Grachius smiles. Its a cold smile with his ruined face, almost a little challenging in nature, but his words hint of camaraderie.

Our Order has been hoping to fight alongside you in particular, Marshall Kalev. The tales say you have been dealt blows that should have killed you many times over and that you have brought Kardas' laws to the Greenbelt on the edge of your blade dozens of times when hope seemed lost.

Grachius looks up at Casimir with another toothy smile.

Of course, these stories were all originally told by your friend Lord Casimir and have likely been exaggerated as they spread. My Lord Casimir, would you honour my men with a tale from your most recent exploits?

In response to Fenna, Grachius nods eagerly.

I have men ready to serve as scribes to commit your new laws to magically preserved parchment, if you will forgive my presumptuousness Lady Thistleswade.

Even with the harsh visage his armour gives him and his grim smiles, Grachius does seem very likeable, almost despite himself. His mannerisms reek of dependability and fierce loyalty and despite his scars his force of will and charisma is evident in a similar manner to Ricters own. Just before Ricter gives his speech, he presents the newly promoted Field Maralictor with a set of manacles and an amulet. The amulet is a length of dense and heavy chain, leading to a small metal gauntlet. The gauntlet is designed so that it is firmly wrapped in the dense chain and is clearly recognisable as the symbol of the Order of the Chain; a symbol of Ricter's new responsibilities.

Shatter your old chains, Field Maralictor, and embrace willingly your new Grachius intones solemnly. The eyes of every Hellknight and Armiger in the courtyard fall upon the newest member of the Guardians.

Casimir is mostly silent during the introduction of the Hellknights, making only polite conversation when directly addressed. Malthir's reaction to the symbol on Grachius' armor and his new title is not lost on him, though.

Clever - these fellows have done their homework. I hope we have not climbed into bed with the devil to avoid the demons. Such dedication to law and order. No wonder not all of the citizens are welcoming them with open arms.

Later with Malthir and Sootscale

Casimir nods thoughtfully.

"Yes, I have also thought about tracking the item that was stolen, if we can learn what it was. In the mean time, I'll have my agents keep an extra eye out for suspicious people, but I wouldn't hold my breath - if they were riding wolves or worgs, they are unlikely to come close to any civilized settlements."

GM AK, let me know if I need to roll to gather information or similar

"On another matter - I have been sending out letters to a few people who might be able to help us. If all goes well, they should arrive within the next few days."

Upon completing his speech, Ricter dons the new badge of office along with his helmet. This seems to mark the end of the formal welcoming of the Hellknights. As the warriors begin to dispurse, Ricter speaks more quietly to Grachius:

"It will be...complex to test Armigers here. We should discuss this away from the other Guardians before approaching the Baron on the subject. There is also the matter of Reckoning."

Grachius nods and he and Ricter begin to have a quiet conversation.

I am in full agreement Field Maralictor. Is Baron Malthir aware of how a Hellknight comes to maturity? None of the armigers are yet ready to take their tests- in fact, most of them are far from it. I believe this was intentional on the Lictor's part, to avoid alarming the Statkari and jeopardizing our alliance at such an early stage. How are we to proceed?

Having excused himself after the speeches and introductions, Kip made his way to the rendezvous with Sootscales, Mikmek and Jhod. As he traveled the busy hallways of the castle he pondered what the future held for Kardas now that the Hellknights had arrived. He could not help but feel that stormy times were ahead... if not for Kardas itself, at least for him and the other free spirits calling the Stolen Lands home.

As he entered the chamber where Lord Sirian's remains had been sequestered, he warmly greeted his kobold companions and his dear friend Jhod. He returned their well wished and sentiments, professing to have missed them all as well these past weeks.

After chatting to them about the occurrences of the past few days and satisfied that the arrangements for Lord Sirian were in place, Kip made plans to meet up with them later at Taloman's Taps for a drink and camaraderie.

Realizing his absence, as a Statkari, may be a cause for embarrassment, he excused himself and returned to join the others.

While the thought of listening to the ponderous discussions surrounding the creation of laws did not appeal to him personally, he was sure to be present at the meetings. Both in his official capacity and to present an alternative view to what he expected to be a near unanimous voice from the rest of those present.

He also made a mental note to review his finances and personal adventuring gear... most specifically about replenishing items consumed during their latest travels, as well as making a decision regarding the wand of lightning bolt.

The meeting with Soots and the others made him realize that it had also been some time since he had corresponded with his family back in Brevoy. He pledged to send them a letter in the coming days.

Are we up to date on our treasure division? I think we are, and thanks again Malthir! :)

Kalev gives an approving nod at Grachius' words. Perhaps, when there is time, you or some of your men would like a sparring match. I will use a wooden weapon of course.

Later, if Kalev is present when Malthir, Casimir and Soothscales talk, Kalev suggests, Maybe we should talk to our four-legged friends in the forest. If there are wolves or worgs involved, maybe they know something?

Malthir sends a message to Jhod to let them know when he is ready to perform the questioning of the body of the fallen lord. He includes a copy of the questions he wants Jhod to ask:
Do you wish to be raised back to life?
Who or what attacked you?
Please describe in detail the item you were bringing to Kardas as a gift.
Why were you coming to Kardas?

I know your waiting on me for Jhod's Speak with Dead, but bear in mind your not waiting for a large update from me other than that at this point. Your back in your capital, what's your next move? Plan, discuss, be proactive please :).

DM Only:

The same evening you returned to Swordhaven, you eventually found yourselves stood in a small chamber of the castle, the magically preserved body of Lord Sirian laid out before you on a stone table. The door was locked and Jhod had spent almost ten minutes softly chanting the necromantic ritual required of him.

He is now knelt before Lord Sirian, clutching his wooden holy symbol with one hand and the second resting upon the corpse as he channelled his deity's power into it. His voice shakes from the harrowing power of the necromantic ritual as he intones-

It is done. Be warned- unless this man's soul was aligned in a similar manner to my own, he may resist your questions or tell you lies. The dead are also often vague or cryptic in their answers

Jhod also took the time to inform you as he began casting the spell, that you would not be able to ask if he wished to be raised, as the soul can only answer questions about what it knew in life.

You have a few minutes and five questions he reminded the Guardians as he maintained the tenuous connection to the afterlife.

Lets role-play out the questions if you don't mind.

Kalev felt clearly uncomfortablein the chamber, as if he could feel the necromantic energy crawl on his skin. This might be the first time any of you had actually seen the big half-orc squirm or look frightened.

Malthir, Kalev's voice croaked, would you? I don't want to be here longer than necessary...

Duke of Kardas, First Sword of Iomedae HP:51/76 AC:27 F:+14, R:+8, W:+12 CMD:23/24 P:-1 Init:+0 AOO:+16

It might be a bit of a chicken/egg thing. We may change any plans we make depending upon Sirian's answers so I know I was waiting for that.

Of course Kalev. I don't like the use of dark powers any more than the rest of you, but it must be done.

What attacked and killed you Lord Sirian?

Your Humble Narrator

Debateable as "Dark"- it doesn't have the evil descriptor and despite its reputation, not all Necromancy is vile.

Lord Sirian's lifeless mouth slowly opened and closed, forming words with the power of the soul behind it. The sound seemed to emanate directly from the corpse's mouth, rather than coming from his dead vocal chords in his chest.

Bestial, wolf-like creatures. Masters over the Goblins that rode them.

Duke of Kardas, First Sword of Iomedae HP:51/76 AC:27 F:+14, R:+8, W:+12 CMD:23/24 P:-1 Init:+0 AOO:+16

But the Paladin in Malthir thinks it leave a stain on his soul. Since it isn't evil, Malthir is okay using it...lol

To the other guardians, So it was goblins and their wolves, but was it random or a specific attack?

Back to the corpse, What was the item you were bringing to Kardas as a gift?

Whilst talking with Grachius:

"We will not discourage or delay any Armiger in taking the test. It is our duty to give them the chance to progress as soon as they are ready. Waiting until a test is required to approach the Statkuri on the subject could well cause such delays. Secrecy can only harm our efforts here. I will speak with the Baron about our traditions as soon as possible."

"We could be in luck - a well constructed stronghold lies abandoned to the south of here. I may be able to have it assigned to us. However, I am due a Reckoning right now and I am not to delay it until it is convinient. Make ready the chains - I will find a suitable space in the castle."

Later, in the chamber where Jhod is performing the ritual on Sirian:

Upon entering the chamber Ricter notes that it is secure, out-of-the-way and well sound proofed. Upon hearing Malthir's comment he replies softly, as if on hallowed ground:

"Baron, the ritual Jhod is performing is pure in the eyes of Pharasma. He is not wrenching a soul back and trapping it in it's own ruined corpse. He merely helping it complete it's business on this plane as it stands waiting in the boneyard. Kalev, there's nothing to fear here"

With that the Hellknight bows his head in silent prayer.

The soul continued to answer, devoid of both emotion and inflection.

A forged blade commissioned by Maegar Varn for Baron Malthir Al Dagon. Notes of credit in gratitude for defeating the Troll King Hargulka.

Jhod nodded approvingly at Ricter's words and explanation.

Duke of Kardas, First Sword of Iomedae HP:51/76 AC:27 F:+14, R:+8, W:+12 CMD:23/24 P:-1 Init:+0 AOO:+16

To the Guardians, Well at least we still have the notes in credit.

To the corpse, What was your purpose in coming to Kardas?

To the other Guardians, We have two other questions, anything else that we should ask?

One I thought of...I was going to ask him if the Goblins acted in any way that made this seem like a planned attack or did they just seem to happen upon them?

Your Humble Narrator
Malthir Al Dagon wrote:

To deliver notes of credit and a longsword to Baron Malthir, to serve as Maegar Varn within the Barony of Kardas and to petition the Statkari for a position within the royal court.

Maybe not, Ricter, maybe not, still, I feel it crawl on my skin. I would rather be swallowed by another of those swamp-tentacle things than be in the presence of this kind of magic longer than necessary, Kalev says with a shudder.

It seems likely the creatures were worgs, if they were "masters" of the goblins. I've heard of alliances between the two, much like our alliance with the wolves of the Greenbelt, but more feral and sinister.

As the remains answer Malthir's questions Kip comments, It would seem likely that Lord Sirian would wish to fulfill his duty as ambassador... and be returned to life.

In response to Malthir's question of the Guardians, Kip responds, How would you ask that? pondering for a moment before adding, Perhaps ask if the worgs parlayed with them? Or said anything at all before they attacked?

You might also ask him if he was bearing any other news or messages for us?

Kip taps his chin absentmindedly as he ponders other possible questions...

1 question left after this one.

Friendship and prosperity between the two baronies.

Duke of Kardas, First Sword of Iomedae HP:51/76 AC:27 F:+14, R:+8, W:+12 CMD:23/24 P:-1 Init:+0 AOO:+16

A look of relief comes over his face, he asks him one more question, What messages did the Baron have for us?

I was bearing a letter from Maegar Varn. He bade me speak of a direct trade road between us rather than the north road via Northgreen. He wished me to be his ambassador and live semi-permanently in Swordhaven. He wished to extend his sympathy for the attack on Swordhaven.

Jhod's hands released Lord Sirian's head, his arms shaking and his face pale from the powerful necromantic energies he had channelled.

Duke of Kardas, First Sword of Iomedae HP:51/76 AC:27 F:+14, R:+8, W:+12 CMD:23/24 P:-1 Init:+0 AOO:+16

I've had my doubts about Varns sincerity from the beginning. Maybe I have spent too much time with danger at every corner and very little trust, except for the rest of you. It is good to know that this re-inforces that his intentions with us are for the better of both Kingdoms.
Jhod, can you please work with the other Statkari to start putting together what is needed to raise Kesten, reincarnating Kundal as well as calling in the letters of credit in order to raise Lord Sirian. I would like to try and have this all completed by early next month.

As for our plans for the next few days and weeks. I think that we should spend a few days here and be seen with the Hellknights. The people should see that this is an alliance and nothing more sinister or threatening to them. I plan to spend some time in the city as well as with some of the nobles and merchants.
Ricter, I am also interested in seeing what these Hellknights of yours can do. Pick out your best warrios. I want the Hellknights to know that they are not dealing with a few fops trying to run a Kingdom of weaklings. I want them to see and respect who they are defending and helping.
Plus some training for both groups can't hurt.
I have one other request Ricter. We need to start building our militia apart from the Hellknights back up. If your men are to prepare yourselves for Galt, I will need my own men to defend the Kingdom eventually. I want you to start finding and training men to be part of the militia and army of Kardas. Kalev, I would like for you to work with Ricter on this. You know the men around here better than most. Let's see what we can dig up.
I would think in 4 days time we should be ready to go back out and finish mapping the areas of the Greenbelt that are unknown to us.
One last thing, the island and the Wisp's. I would like to destroy the evil creatures. They are a threat to Kardas and our trade on the lake. Once we have finished our exploration I want to go to the island and be ready to do battle with them. We have all seen the lights, there are probably more than one and it is rumored that an old ruin is on the island, it is time to claim it back for Kardas and clear it out.
Anything else we should tend to while we are here?

Being assigned no specific tasks by the Baron, Kip uses the following few days to scour the shops of Kardas for new and replacement adventuring kit.

While doing so, he also attempts to locate a purchaser for his wand.

He also spends time in research, utilizing the library whenever possible, to learn as much as he can about Will-O-Wisps, Worgs and the Fey creatures they have already encountered, as well as any others he can.

Depending on the success or failure to sell the wand, I will post up a list of purchases made later. Do we wish to make any group purchases? Were we buying any replacement scrolls of fireball or haste? Anything else?

Is the wand worth enough that you will have to sell it during the kingdom building turn as a minor item, if not you can assume you'll find a buyer (i'll write something up).

"Perhaps", Fenna says to Malthir's words about proving the prowess of the guardians to the Hellknights, "it might be possible to hold a small tourney to celebrate our new alliance, and bolster morale after our recent troubles. Then you and Kalev would both get your chance to test your mettle against any Hellknights who would like to enter."

It was worth just above 4K, I told Kip he should just sell it for under 4K and give someone a deal to be rid of it. Plus selling it through the kingdom will tie up us trying to get more resources :)

Later that night, the gnomish prophetess seeks out the spymaster of Kardas, carrying with her a small bundle of parchment. "Casimir," she speaks as she approaches him, "would you have a little while to talk? Something has been troubling me for some time, and now we are back in Swordhaven without too many pressing concerns I was hoping you might be able to tell me if I am simply being foolish."

A small tournament is a fine idea Fenna. I knew we kept you around for some reason... Malthir gives her his wide grin.

In fact something to distract the people would be good. Foundersfeast is usually the best place for something such as this, but in this case we will move up the festival to take the peoples mind off our recent troubles and remind them of better times! I will talk to the other Statkari and make the preparations for later this month!
I have been thinking we should build an arena. Something for tournaments and special events with the people.

"Also, one other thing. Are the remains of Lord Sirian to be moved to a more honourable resting place than this hidden room? If so, I would like to use it for a small non-magical ritual this evening"

Malthir smiles at Ricter, You will find that my requests are orders Ricter...

Seriously though, I find that people do things better for someone else when they want to do it, not just when they are ordered.
I respect you Ricter. With that respect comes a certain amount of friendliness and camaraderie that I expect you to see as a strength, not a weakness.
I will do anything for Kardas Ricter, never forget that. I will lay down my life or crush my enemies with equal zeal.
As far as the room, you are a Statkari now, work with Jhod to make it happen. Please just be sure that all three men are treated well...and actually please place a guard on them, I wouldn't want anything to happen to them before we can have them brought back to life.

"Perhaps in time an arena would be a worthwhile project," Fenna nods, "but it may be some time before we have recovered enough to undertake such a thing... but it does bear thought for when Kardas' wounds have been dressed."

"Of course, Fenna. And if this is about your writings, you have my full attention. Too many truths have been glimpsed from those pages for us not to take them seriously."

"It does pertain to them," Fenna confirms, placing the papers on a nearby oaken table, "or at least it may do... I am unsure. Do you recall the prophecy I told you of several years ago; the one which motivated me to join the efforts of the Guardians in the Greenbelt?"

The tiny, pale woman removes an aged sheet of parchment from the bundle, upon which is scrawled the indecipherable Azlanti script, along with another bearing a passage in Taldane. "I translated this as closely as I could, and I am fairly confident that the meaning remains unchanged."

Prophecy:
The Fey-Child of the Stars shall lose herself,
Once the Eye is shattered, so too shall the Star-Child shatter,
The Seekers of Awe shalt restore the Fey-Child,
With the aid of the progeny of the Red Dragon,
Then the Fey-Child shall travel into that which was Stolen,
To grant peace to a haunted reflection of his creator.

"Sorry Malthir, I did not speak clearly. The ritual I wish to perform does not concern Sirian's remains, and indeed it would be inappropriate to perform it in his resting place. I merely need an empty room from which sound does not carry."

The Hellknight sighs

"Continuing vagueness is only making this sound more suspicious. I'll be blunt. In accordance with the traditions of my order I need to undergo some mild torture, and I want to avoid distressing anyone with the noise. I'll find another room similar to this if there is one. With your leave, that is."

You are a Statkari, stop asking for my permission. Make it so. Of course Ricter, if you want me there, to make sure the test is enough to prove yourself, you can count on me... malthir seems to indicate that he wants to help if it is appropriate...

He grasps Ricter's shoulder in a not so gentle way and whispers, I know little of your customs Ricter, but I know much of those who want or need to prove themselves. If in battle or other ways. It would be an honor to help you in whatever way I can. I have killed more creatures than you can imagine, don't think me soft just because I try to solve things with discussion first....

Your Humble Narrator

Ok so- Casimir is canvassing the populace, asking around both for any information on the weapon Maegar Varn was giving to Malthir as well as for any strangers that may have come in from Varnhold or otherwise suspicious groups.

Ricter is arranging his reckoning as well as familiarising himself with his new Hellknight force; I imagine he'll need at least a week to begin to get to know them. Hes also responsible for the security of the three bodies to be raised or reincarnated, as well as assisting Kalev in testing the Hellknight's and working with them to form a militia.

Kip is seeking a buyer for his wand of lightning bolt. As its got a hefty price tag, that will only be fully resolved in the kingdom turn itself at the end of the month. He is also researching Will o' Wisps, Worgs, the strange Fey you briefly encountered and the dragon to your west.

Kalev will be testing the Hellknight's mettle, as well as visiting Red Eye's pack in order to ascertain if they know of any rogue wolves or worgs that might have attacked Lord Sirian and his entourage. This will take several days at least.

Fenna is going to be ironing out the laws- and possibly some divinations, as well as arranging a small tourney? The obvious events to run are trials of single combat, jousting and archery but you can easily add more. Let me know.

As far as I know, Malthir's going to be generally checking on you all and also spending time with the people of Kardas, wanting to give them reassurance.

I do need some clarity on this 'raising the militia' thing, Malthir. Are you IC trying to ascertain what kind of force you could potentially raise at your current soze, or are you actually raising a second army?

I'm thinking all of this will actually take two weeks, especially with a tourney. Certainly, Casimir has a lot of spare time as yet unaccounted for as does Kip and possibly Malthir. The other three are pretty busy already. As two weeks time will take you into the final week of Pharast anyway, it appears it will be logical to finish the month off in a kingdom building turn anyway and venture out on the 1st of next month.

Kip, sensing the others are tied up with other matters, and having some time to spare, decides to expand upon his research of the Fey creatures. He seeks out travelling companions to visit a few of the Fey creatures friendly with Kardas, to tap into their knowledge and experiences as well. Given the choice of reading about it in a library, or seeing and hearing about it in the flesh, Kip always chooses the latter.

He specifically visits Cas, Soots and Mikmek to see if any of them will accompany him, but makes his plans known to anyone who wishes to join. Perhaps Kalev's investigations might overlap Kip's travels?

I will hold off my purchase decisions until after I see if the wand sells. And I'm still not sure where I wish to leverage Kip's wealth. ;) Suggestions?

I think the timeline is fine with Malthir Alex :)
Malthir is not for raising a second army. This is really setting the stage for later chapters of the AP as well as a reason for some future build stuff like a barracks.
We can proceed with the Kingdom turn over the weekend then and retcon any stuff as needed.
You want me to do that in the OOC section?

"Your offer is appreciated, Baron, but only the Signifier can deliver a Reckoning according to our laws as written. I will find a suitable space. There is no need for unnecessary secrecy, however. If you wish you can attend the ritual."

Later that evening, Ricter's Reckoning is performed. Four Hellknights including Signifier Gracius are in attendance (possibly along with Malthir). Heavy chains are anchored to the floor and wrapped about Ricter's arms and legs, and wound into a winch held by each of his bretheran. These chains are already wound tight enough to cut the blood to his hands and feet when he begins to speak:

"Let it be known that I, Field Maralictor Ricter Vorsk, have knowingly breeched the dictums of the Measure and must face Reckoning"

"The first count is a breach of mercilessness. In the untamed wilderness myself and my companions came upon a creature of chaos who have bent lawful workers to it's will. Though the creature faced justice I instead allowed it to walk free, and as a result of my inaction it was allowed to return and attempt vengeance"

Gracius replies with a single sylable and as one the four Hellknights turn the inches. The chains tighten and the faint squeek of flesh pulled tight is heard. Ricter grimaces.

"The second count is a breach of Discipline. When confronting a hostile Fey in battle sanctioned by the rulers of this land I was sent up by magics of the mind and my will was found lacking. I fell under the spell of a creature of chaos and was forced to stand inactive, humiliating myself and the Order."

With another command the chains are pulled tighter still. Ricter's fists clench as blood begins to seep between the links

"The third...arg...the third count is a breach of...Order. On our travels we came upon the hidden realm of a bool...bolder...boldeuwedd fey and I followed the demands of a creature of chaos without challenge. I...ARRGH!"

Ricter is cut off as the chains are tightened a third time. His hands are no longer clenched but hang loosely. They are tinged blue as they are starved of blood. The chains are visibly sunk into his limbs.

Gracius and the other Hellknights loosen the chains and Ricter looks about to fall to his knees, but does not. Instead he staggers to the wall and braces himself against it, still standing.

Malthir is there and looks on without judgement in his eyes on other's ways.
