Hearing the goliath hit the ground Sashah looks up from his lockpick fiddling straight at Viplo just in time to sidestep the bolt of flame aimed at his chest. Sashah stands straighter as he takes a step back. He then reaches to his chest under his robes and pulls out a silver symbol of an array of stars with a river bisecting them. With his other hand he reaches behind himself to touch the arm of Skyreaver and says a short, quick, quiet prayer. The symbol he holds and his other hand begin to glow with a faint radiant light.

Cure Wounds (2): 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 7) + 3 = 11

Looking straight at Viplo, the old half-elf's eyebrows furrow even more such that they are almost one continuous brow. "You test patience halfling! Stop foolishness and explain self!" Sashah yells, his face turning red as well.

The zombie that hit Nanbu takes 10 up cold damage and the Armor of Agathys is spent.

If the zombie on Nanbu is not dead yet, the warlock grips his club and calls upon the far magic today's it to grow and wisps of golden light come off the weapon. He then swings for the fences!

Saphina looks between the zombies and prisoners. Deciding, she moves to the prisoners sheathing her sword and pulling her own Thieves Tools though not with as much flourish as the wizard.

The zombie that struck Nanbu is covered by a coating of ice. It collapses to the ground as it gives up its undead life.

Nanbu and Adrian strike the remaining zombie simultaneously.

Viplo screams in rage. "Fools! You've don't know what you've done!"

Saphina rushes over and picks the lock of one of the prisoners, releasing him. He lets out a yell of relief.

Skyreaver, Rakdon to act. Viplo is up on the platform so you'll have to climb up to him. Not going to bother with updating the map now.

Skyreaver grunts as she stands up, then shouts to where she last saw Viplo and says "You speak of trying to save the city, yet you raise false flesh against us. Your words do not match your actions wizard."

Skyreaver will then heal herself.

"The Death Curse will save us!" Viplo yells.

He steps out of the panel and unleashes a firebolt upon one of the running prisoners. It strikes his pelvis and the man stumbles in pain, but is still alive.

Derio turns to Saphina and presses himself against the wall."I-I think I-I'll stay here!" he says.

Nanbu sprints at the altar, throwing his vines out to pour over it! With a sharp tug, the Chultan Warnock swings up high into the air and lands next to Viplo. He looks at the gnome darkly, Nanbu say, wizard is mistaken. Death curse save no one. Wizard has nowhere left to go.

Saphina unlocks the manacles on the third hostage. Looking up and seeing Nanbu jump onto upper level and engage the wizard she turns back to the hostages and ”go now! While he’s distracted. Get to the top of the ramp and Rakdon will show you where to go from there.

Rakdon would do that, he would have double moved last turn if that is what it took. Rakdon will move again to get into position, and if he has to doublemove, then so be it, but if not here is another firebolt hit: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (12) = 17

I think Viplo is out of the pit, so it may take some climbing. Which was why I pulled that Indiana Jones stunt! ^_^


Sir Adrian will need to find a way to get up there. It's too high to jump up without magical assistance and Viplo is behind the panel so he has full cover.

Rakdon runs along the edge of the pit, but the side walls block him from firing at Viplo.

Nanbu pulls himself up towards the panel. He spies on the panel that Viplo is hiding behind there's a half-moon shaped trinket on it. Viplo cowers from the warlock.

Saphina releases Derio but he is cautious. "What's out there? He has more of them! I'll stay here with you!"

Skyreaver, Sashah and Sir Adrian to act

Map The pit is 10' deep so you'll have to find a way to get up to the panel, either by going back up the ramp and running along the side or other means. Viplo is the last remaining (visible) enemy.

Sir Adrian heads back up the ramp, heading the long way around to the remaining enemy.

"In the name of Mystra, master of Azuth, GET DOWN HERE!" Sashah yells displaying his holy symbol.

Your statline says 13 but your text says 15. Which is it?

Viplo tries to ignore Sashah's command but fails to. He moves towards the edge and drops down, slamming on the ground right in front of the prisoners.

The fall doesn't quite kill Viplo but he is sorely hurt. The halfling raises his hands and yells "Mercy!"

Nanbu can take an AoO on Viplo. Everyone may act. Saphina and Sashah are next to Viplo, Skyreaver, Adrian and Rakdon are on the walkway. Nanbu is on the panel.

Damn, I thought he was a gnome! Naw, hearing Sashah's command, Nanbu would let him go, unless he runs. Can I make a check to see what this trinket does?

Nanbu has found something here, something that may be important, the warlock says as he moves to the edge, putting away his club which shrinks back to normal size, to help up the more lightly armored folk, lowering a rope.

He keeps a wary eye on Viplo, ready to strike him with an eldritch blast if need be.


Are you picking up the amulet? You can roll a History check but wld require quite a high roll.

Sashah gives one last stern look at Viplo before walking over to the wall. His stern look changes to one of concern as he looks at the rope and then up to Nanbu.

"I vill try," he says aloud, but maybe intended most to himself.

Huffing significantly the old half-elf looks over the amulet Nanbu has.
History: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

He then begins surveying the levered contraption as well.

As Nanbu touches the trinket, he seems overcome by visions...

Nanbu make a DC13 Wisdom saving throw.

Nanbu has visions of yellow eyes with slit pupils and hears incoherent whispers almost resembling hissing noises.

Viplo screams after Nanbu takes the amulet. He rocks himself and holds his hands up. You notice a pouch on him.

Pouch's contents:
Inside the pouch is 20gp and a vial of alchemist's fire

Sashah can tell that this amulet seems to be have shattered and there are other pieces of it. From the inscriptions it has powers related to dreams.

The prisoners are thankful for being freed. Amongst them is Derio. "He-he is vile! He animated the d-dead using the powers of the amulet! He must be brought to justice!" he says, pointing to Viplo.

After Sashah informs us about the crescent, Saph says to Nanbu ”Careful, I’ve heard of magical items being able to break you will and take control of your mind.

Nanbu looks at Sashah and hands him the trinket after a look of concern.

Sashah looks at Nanbu's concerned expression and returns with a wisened smile. " I appreciate concern Nanbu. Zough it obvious I have not spent years training body," he takes his thumb and taps his head, "I have spent time on zis."

Identify:
You choose one object that you must touch throughout the casting of the spell. If it is a magic item or some other magic-imbued object, you learn its properties and how to use them, whether it requires Attunement to use, and how many Charges it has, if any. You learn whether any Spells are affecting the item and what they are. If the item was created by a spell, you learn which spell created it.

If you instead touch a creature throughout the casting, you learn what Spells, if any, are currently affecting it.

Nanbu smiles at the old man and hands the trinket over.


Nanbu does know of the Yuan-Ti and the Night Serpent.

As Sashah touches the amulet, visions of yellow eyes with slit pupils and incoherent whispers almost resembling hissing noises enter his mind.

From his spell, Sashah learns that this trinket is part of an amulet that has been broken. He will need to find the other portions in order to be able to properly identify what powers the complete amulet might have.

Derio mutters. "Get out of here now... please!"

Nanbu thinks that the people of the snake are behind this thing. Followers of the Night Serpent... the warlock looks at Derio, Yes, leaving this place is most agreeable to Nanbu.

we bind Viplo and lead him and the victims to the relative safety of abo.


The party leads Viplo out. As you leave the feeding pit his babbling becomes more incoherent. He keeps cackling. "No one can save you from the Death Curse! No one! HAHAHHA! HAHA!" It seems his mind is quite gone by now. Any attempts to find information from him about the trinket leads to him making hissing noise and spitting at the questioner.

Derio keeps away from Viplo as you make your way back to Alastar Boi's residence. The halfling's ramblings make locals want to stay away from him.

Alastar's servants stare at Viplo warily, though Derio is elated to be back safe.

"Thank you for saving Derio! Have you found if there's any truth in the rumours? And what is this you bring me?" he says.

This is the root of the problem. Hopefully, people will not be disappearing in the night, but the Night Serpent is ever-present, Nanbu says as he draws a symbol of protection from his forehead to his heart.

Alastar hands you the 60 gold, and adds another 10 gp.
"Here. As a reward. The halfling will be dealt with," he says.

Upon hearing about the relic from Derio, Alastar suggests that perhaps Viplo was using the power of the trinket to charm others and lure them into his trap, eventually creating the local rumor surrounding the disappearances.

"I'd keep hold of it if I were you. I will try to find out more information about this trinket. For now, if you wish to, you may stay at my residence, particularly Sir Adrian. You will be well attended," he says.

Sashah thinks for several moments, with a mix between scratching and stroking his beard.

"Vith respect Lord Boi," the old-half elf begins, " I vould much prefer good library for study zese and ozer matters more. Do you have such connections?"

As the wizard says that, Saphina makes sure to collect the gold that the noble offered. Thinking to herself that the others may not be so generous.

Nanbu thinks, the best place to find books is with Wakanga Otamu, but asking a prince to use private library is not easy thing, the native guide suggests, Maybe, we rest at Thundering Lizard for a bit and we can ask friend, Screaming Wind, if he knows of your library.


Any response from Adrian and the others before we move on?
