Sashah rushes in and examines the room. The carvings lead to a secret door, but as Sashah makes a misstep in his investigation a set of three giant pendulum blades swing down from the ceiling from one side of the room to the other. The heroes try to avoid the blades.

Saphina suffers a nick to her forehead while Nanbu takes a rough blow.

After this encounter, the heroes are more cautious. Nanbu discovers a secret door leading to another room with a similar trap, and then more carvings to yet another room. Finally, Saphina, leading the party emerges into a room.
Skipping ahead. Should any of you want to heal Nanbu go ahead.

The walls and floor of this ancient chamber are worn and have crumbled apart in certain areas. A narrow path leads from the entrance to a platform on the opposite end. Upon the platform is a small dais and a stone stand. From the entrance, two debris covered paths slope down into a dingy pit with rusty gates against the east and west walls.

Across the pit, standing across you is a halfling, barely visible behind some controls. He yells “Interlopers! You shall become food for the dead!”

He pulls a crank, and the rusty gates start to lift. Six undead beings snarl and gnash their teeth. From the stink, you can tell they are similar to the creatures you fought outside the hut.

Viplo is the halfling across the hall from Saphina, the three prisoners are 10' in front of him. One of them looks to be dressed in an outfit that reminds you of the one that the servants of Alastar wore; there are three zombies on each side looking hungrily at the prisoners.

Between Skyreaver and Adrian is a secret door; the only entry into the chamber.

Spoiler:
The fastest way down into the pits are two ramps (the arrows) on either side of the entrance filled with loose, crumbling debris. Traversing these requires a successful DC 14 Dexterity saving throw. If failed, the character slips and falls down the path, suffering 2 (1d4) bludgeoning damage and is considered prone at the end of their move.

Saphina steps aside.

Viplo ducks from behind the panel and launches a firebolt at Saphina. The bolt strikes the tiny halfling, burning her.

He steps back behind the panel.

Adrian, eager to join the fray, charges forward, but falls down the ramp, prone. There is a zombie staring at the knight.

Rakdon and Nanbu launch attacks on one of the zombies. Both their attacks hit, but the undead creature growls at them.

Skyreaver goes to check on Adrian, attempting to move cautiously down the ramp.

There is a moment when she almost falls, but she manages to retain her feet.

Unfortunately, the Knight's armor is too heavy and the Goliath can't quite lift him up. She does push him forward on the pit.

The zombies lurch out of the cages.

Saph steps onto ramp sliding down the ramp like a surf board. As she comes to the goliath the Halfling darts between the zombie and her Allie swinging her sword hoping to topple the rotting creature. She then weaves her way to stand next to Adrian.

she ends her move to the right of Adrian.


Saphina slides between the legs of her colleagues and strikes at the zombie, striking a deadly blow to it.
The zombie tries to grab at her (AoO) as she ducks away. The blow fails to land.

Viplo jumps out, considers who to aim at and shoots a bolt.

He fires a bolt at Skyreaver but the Goliath deflects the blow away.

He then ducks back behind the stone column.

Rakdon's acid splash distracts one of the zombies; its skin burns releasing a smell like overripe watermelon.

Zombie 6 dex save: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0

Nanbu's blast strikes Zombie 3. It turns towards the warlock and snarls at it.

Sashah looks back at the two zombies staring at him with brows furrowed, "I not have time for you." He then walks casually around them to the prisoners. After arriving before the prisoners, he closes his eyes and begins grabbing the air around himself as if grabbing and gathering stray thread. A moment later, with a small glow of light that then dims a set of lockpick tools appears.

Adrian's swing strikes the body of the zombie next to him. Despite the solid blow, the zombie doesn't crumble.

Skyreaver calls the spirits into her club and then smashes it into the Zombie who faces her.

Skyreaver lands a solid hit against the zombie fighting her.

The zombies strike back. One tries to claw Skyreaver but she knocks his arm away. Adrian's shield protects him from the attacks of two of the creatures.

However, one rushes towards Saphina and draws blood, as its claws tear through the halfling's armor.

The zombies around Sashah look at him as he pulls items out of the air, as though they are watching a magic trick.

After his attempt, the old half-elf looks to Viplo and says matter-of-factly, "Are you going to help loose zese people or make zings worse for self? Ve clearly outpower you." He pauses for another moment before continuing, "Ve look for knowledge about zese ziggurats. In Azuth's name...."

After catching her breath the halfling stabs her sword at the zombie in retaliation.

Saphina stabs at the zombie and pierces through its skin. It looks at her sword in surprise. It falls to the ground, learning a lesson about not angering halflings.

Viplo emerges from behind the panel and tries to aim a shot at Sashah but can't bring himself to strike the wizard.

A bolt flies towards Rakdon but it is stopped by the mage's armor.

"Curses!" Viplo yells, as he ducks back behind the panel.

Sashah fumbles at the lock of the key. He just manages to open it, but the prisoner refuses to leave his spot with so many of the zombies around.

Nanbu tumbles down the ramp. Nonetheless. he manages to focus his blast on a zombie that's lurching towards one of the prisoner and gets its attention!

Skyreaver swings her club into the nearest Zombie.

Skyreaver unleashes another heavy blow against the zombie. It still stands but barely.

The undead strike back. One claws at Skyreaver and tears into him.

The one that Nanbu struck rushes towards him, teeth bared. The warlock dodges the attack.

The two zombies that struck Rakdon attacked turn towards him and attempt to climb up the ramp.

One manages to scale up the ramp and snarls at the wizard.

Viplo emerges from behind the panel and snarls as he pulls out a scroll.

Missiles fly from his hand striking the party.

Two missiles strike Skyreaver (7 damage) while another glances off Nanbu (2 damage).
He ducks back behind the panel.
"Give up now and become my servants, you fools!" he shouts.

Skyreaver has taken 21 hp from the zombies and Viplo; including his earlier damage he's taken 27 hp damage.

Actually, Nanbu was prone, so zombie 3 should had advantage to attack and he does not have his club out, so could not have made an AoO. :(

Nanbu stands, drawing his club. He looks at 5 as it attacks Rakdon and reaches out his other hand, throwing forth a tangle of thorny vines that wrap around the zombie and pull it toward the warlock! Action, cast thorn whip at 5, pulling it back 10 feet! Down the ramp, maybe?

zombie dex save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10 Rakdon's acid splash strikes it right in the chest. But that isn't the end of its troubles. Nanbu's whip strikes and pulls the zombie on the ramp down towards its comrade. It lets out a gurgle of surprise as they stumble into each other.

Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

No worries about the advantage.
Zombie 5: -18 hp Zombie 6: -9 hp (Both zombies are prone.)
Skyreaver and Sashah to act. One prisoner is free. They look more willing to run now that most of the zombies are down.

Skyreaver will move to one of the zombies and introduce it to her club.

Damage Roll: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11


advantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Skyreaver's club comes down on the prone zombie and smashes it.

Zombie 5 save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 It does not quite succumb to the hit.

Sashah fumbles with the lock but does not manage to free Derio.

The two remaining zombies stand up and they attempt to strike Nanbu and Skyreaver. Both their blows strike and draw blood.

Zombie 5 attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Zombie 6 attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

The goliath falls to the ground, unconscious. -31 hp to Skyreaver

Viplo emerges from behind the panel again and takes aim at Sashah.
Wis save: 1d20 ⇒ 16
"Stop it! Stop it! You are foiling my plans! Their sacrifice will save the city, you fools!" Viplo yells.

Firebolt: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
The mage fires a bolt but Sashah, without missing a beat, sidesteps the attack. Viplo ducks behind the panel again.

One of the prisoners rushes away from where he was, heading left.

Everyone is up.
Zombie 5: 1 hp Zombie 6: -9 hp
Skyreaver is unconscious.
