DDAL #01-03 Shadows Over the Moonsea [5e Adventurers League] (Inactive)

Game Master Aeshuura

An Adventurers League module for 1st - 4th level characters.

Grand Lodge

Life on the Moonsea isn't easy. Bandits, pirates, and cruel lords dominate the land, threatening those who make an honest living there. Now, a new scourge is prowling the waters: A ghost ship has been striking small coastal villages, leaving its victims whispering about the "eye of the dracolich."

--

I am opening recruitment for Shadows Over the Moonsea. This an Adventurers League scenario for levels 1 - 4. We will need at least 3 PCs up to 7 max.

If you are interested, chime in. I post very frequently, but would hold a commitment to one post a weekday from my players. If you cannot commit to that, you may miss too much to enjoy the game.

I am flexible, and tend to be story first, so I do often present role-playing opportunities both among PCs and NPCs.

If you are interested, post below with your character. If you do not have an Adventurers League character, you will need to make a 1st level character (27 pt buy, from PHB and up to 1 other sourcebook, Unearthed Arcana articles are not legal for AL play.)

I'm interested in joining in on this, I think I will try out a Kenku cleric. I can post once a weekday, as long as everyone else can manage that.

Is there a specific way we should set up our character sheets?

Grand Lodge

Not really, just as long as pertinent information is in the subtitle and the character stats are relatively easy to navigate.

I will also need a write-up of the Kenku, since I do not have access to Volo's guide yet...

Ah, what the heck, I said I wasn't interested in PBP unless it was an entire book, but I never had a chance to play 5-3, because I worked during that time our DM ran it in real life.

I have a 3rd level light cleric with the lightbringer mace from Lost mines of Phandelver. He has exactly one magic item.

Dark Archive

His real name is Balyzar or the name I used at the shop that hosts D&D, but I'm not making another alias to just to correct his real name.

Sent you the Kenku stats in a PM. Here is a link to Sizzle. The ineffective Kenku cleric of Mask. He wants to be able to use trickery magic and the like, but can only draw on light magic.

Grand Lodge

Welcome back, DoubleGold! Your cleric (Balyzar) will be welcome! You may also already know Belac93's Kenku character, since he is a cleric of light as well.

Can you put Balyzar's name and stats in the subtitle area (i.e. - Race/Class field) so I remember? Thanks.

I'll give this a shot, freshly "rolled" character. Tiefling Bard. I do have a DCI number somewhere, I'll have to dig it out.

Well, we certainly have a surplus of healers! Now all we need is a tank, and we shall be unstoppable!

I nearly made a druid and decided we didn't need another healer. For some reason it never occurred to me that bards are pretty much just as good at it (yes even when I picked the spell).

Grand Lodge

Welcome aboard, Krissina! Don't worry about the DCI. According to this season, the DCI is only important for the in store games, so that they can track those games for the Wizards Play Network.

If you have it, great, but is no longer necessary for play.

Done, but didn't write Balyzar at the top, and no big deal if you call him Draco by mistake, as I know it is all the same guy. If you are planning on giving us our adventures log sheets by sending us a photocopy, that would be the only way it makes a difference, otherwise we pretty much just fill it out ourselves when you give us our gold totals and whatnot.

Anyway, when do you approximately expect to start? As soon as you get seven people, or you have an approximate date set in mind, like the week after Thanksgiving, etc.

Grand Lodge

The plan is to start on Monday. That should give us a good week to gather players.

Grand Lodge

Shoot, just realized that I put 5-03, but it is actually season 1 (DDAL #01-03)

Hm, my hobby time's a little tight, but I think I can squeeze this one in. :)

Grand Lodge

Nice! Now we have frontliner, two clerics, and a bard! Space for up to three more!

*cough* Anders, old chap? is that you? Ladies and Gentlemen! Might I present, SIR Anders the Honorable!

I'm keen to have a go with a shiny new 1st level. A dual role Warlock with a twist of rogue

Grand Lodge

That makes six! One more and we are full to the brim! ^_^

What the heck. I'll have a character up shortly, but I'm going to be starting with a first level rogue (will eventually go mastermind).

And here is Vrog's character

2 Clerics, 2 bards, a fighter, a Rogue and a warlock?

I suppose that has all the bases covered in one form or another?

Well, both of the clerics are light clerics, so we will be a split between ranged damage and support. Your character looks like healing and utility, and while I can't see Uriah's spells, he looks like a debuffer. Shoun will be ranged or melee damage, with some support at level 3. Ander looks like a very tanky tank, and Eilren seems to be ranged damage and some debuffing.

So, we suffer a bit on someone who can actually take a hit, with only Ander having more than a d8 hit dice. However, we have 4 healers, two of those are bards (who have bardic inspiration), and the others are light clerics (who have good ranged damage). Rogues and Warlocks have great damage as well, so we should be able to take out most things before they can get to us. Assuming Uriah took at least one healing spell, we should be able to (collectively) bring someone back from 0 hit points 16 times before we have to rest (and then Sizzle has great AC, and sanctuary if he needs it, so he could run around casting spare the dying if need be).

*cough* He, sir. I am the manliest of men, Songs have been written about my exploits, on the battlefield AND in the boudoir!

"I don't think it counts when you're writing the songs yourself, Uriah."

Oop, sorry. I usually forget to look at the profile about that.

Of course it counts. It's a song! Who cares where it started!

That's fine, I literally thought maybe 5-3 was a sequel to 1-3 or something thinking it was a slightly different title, so yeah, then I have played this once a long time ago, but I'll still play it again as I never played it with this character. After all this guy only played two things on his log sheet so it would be hard to miss it.

Grand Lodge

Haha, well, at least Ander, Balyzar, and Uriah are level 3, so they can all take a hit for you lvl 1s.

Since we have a full squad, I have the discussion thread up and will get the first Gameplay post up either tomorrow or this weekend.

That is fine. Hopefully it was long enough ago that it will still be interesting to you.

Aw dang. I just noticed this recruitment. :(

If someone drops, may I step in?

I just saw it too...was hoping to carry on with Yarroth....any chance we might slip back in???

Grand Lodge

It depends on how far we get. If we get past the halfway point, technically you won't get any rewards but will count as an extra person in terms of calculating XP and gold for the others. I'll run again. If I remember, I will shoot you a message when I open recruitment! Sorry!

No worries; I'll be running another one soon, too.

Liberty's Edge

well please keep me in mind if you do...really liked playing with you all!!

Grand Lodge

Thank you! You were great players, but alas we need to get more people running AL games on here! ^_^
