~Welcome to Aetheras~
Welcome to Aetheras, a world devastated by a war between the Aetherasians and their gods on one side and a strange god from the Vastness called Vitro Kin-Sithra and its servants on the other, a war which ended in the Great Blast when the goddess Andastra sacrificed herself and all the other remaining gods to destroy Vitro. The Great Blast tore the Veil Between Worlds asunder, and the demons of Hell were free to invade Aetheras.
That is how the story goes.

It is 546 AB (After the Blast) and half the world is ruled by demons and the insane and ruthless wizards and warlocks who are allied with them, and people are fighting to survive in a world forever changed and devastated by the Great Blast and by the war against the demons, which has come to be known as the Endless War. New gods have arisen, mortals that have found a piece of a Phadra (a dead god's soul) and merged themselves with it, but many of these gods go mad, as they were never meant to have such power in the first place. Much of the knowledge of the technology of the Old World before the Great Blast has been lost, but there are those who find tech which is still functional and learn how to use it, and some of that tech grants a much needed advantage in the war against the demons.

Welcome to a twisted and dangerous fantasy world.
Welcome to Aetheras.

What I'm looking for:
About four players (as I already have a few) interested in playing with custom races in a fantasy world which is quite different.

Character Creation:
Read the Player's Guide and use it to create an interesting character, the more depth the better.

Pace of the game:
It is still hard to say what the pace of the game will be like. The best possible scenario would be to get a dynamic enough group together and get an engaging enough game going, that there will be at least a few posts each day.

Looking forward to read your application and/or answer any questions you might have.

Different in a good way. Let me give it time to mull.

EDIT: Inquiry: How homogeneous are the various societies in the world? From what I read in the race descriptions, it seems most like to keep to their own kind.

From what I could surmise by looking at a few of your earlier communications, it seems the party is in Phendras? Yet as I looked at the manual linked, it was unclear whether the party chose those characters or if the manual was populated with the party's creations.

Very interesting premise. I'll have to think hard on character, but I am definitely going to give it a try. Some questions about character creation:

-I am a bit confused by buying ability scores, for example, how much would it cost to raise your 13 to a 15? 50CP to get to 14, then how much would you have to pay to get to 15?

-Do you get no traits and no feats if you don't spend CP on them, or do we still start with the standard 2 and 1?

-Classes. Which are available?

Hi Michelle.

Most nations have a good mix of the various races and a majority of humans. There are exceptions however, where humans are a minority or not at all a part of the society.

In the last game the setting was at a very premature stage and I had given premade characters to the players, and made the error of attempting to do a separate prelude for each character. The players who are coming over to join this relaunch will make new characters and the campaign will have another starting location.

Hi Pale King.

- Raising a score from 13 to 15 would cost 150 (50 from 13 to 14 and 100 from 14 to 15). I can see how the wording might be confusing.

- The CP buy replaces the standard 2 starting traits and 1 starting feat.

- I am not from the onset restricting any classes, but if it's something crazy check with me first.

So just to make certain I understand, raising the 15 to 18 would cost 350 points? By not restricting any classes does that include 3rd party? I notice a lot of mention of psionics so does that mean Dreamscarred Press is free game?

400 actually (100 to 16, 150 to 17, and 150 to 18).

And I hope to get some Dreamscarred Press psionics.

At the present, the player's guide linked has information on gods and races, but nothing beyond. Should we assume, other than the introduction text, standard medieval era fantasy technology/culture with exceptions made per race descriptions?

I am currently considering a Drin of one of the psionic classes, though I am not certain which yet.

There will be a general strangeness permeating the setting: weird creatures and magic, portals, futuristic technology here and there, mechanical horses, there might even be cybernetic enhancements.

So a standard medieval era fantasy technology/culture made strange by the above elements and more. Such things won't seem super strange to your characters, as they are used to the general weirdness of post-apocalyptic Aetheras.

Ping. I work on something during the day. Think someone needs some sleep though :p

Edit:

I will work up something with a skymp.

Question, how much more is the PF mechanics going to be altered? Especially with classes.

Could something be provided on the culture of skymp, in relation to their dragon master. Typical classes they would use.

Yup :)

A bit along DarkOne's question, would it be possible to know what classes/roles are being played currently as to not step on any toes?

I take skymp, comes with two weapon fighting ability. Can have two weapons instead of using claws.

Now to figure out how patriotic is the skymp to the black dragon too.

I thinking of a character with good melee and ranges combat skills, maybe augmented with magic. Maybe sorcerer as possibility. Magic after all is native to dragons and their kin.

@DarkOne The rest is going to be PF. Will provide some more info on the skymp when I have slept a bit.

@Michelle You are not going to step on anyone's toes. You can make whatever you want :)

All fine by me, I be busy for next 8 hours or so any way.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, you'll begin as level 3.

Got some more campaign information coming up.

Here's an updated version of the Player's Guide, including information on currency, Cryptotech, timekeeping, recent events, and some of the nations.

You still adding information about nations and possibly on skymps.

I tossing between sorcerer and bloodranger.

I'd be down for this. Always up for a Psionics game.

@DarkOne Got some skymp info coming right up.

@DeviousDevious Hi DD. This is going to be much more than a Psionics game. Looking forward to read your submission.

Player's Guide update.

Open for submissions and here for a couple of hours to answer questions.

2d20 ⇒ (17, 15) = 32
2d12 ⇒ (4, 7) = 11

I think I'll submit a mutant. Let's see how this goes.

Edit: Well, those are certainly interesting results...

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hi Æroden.

So, Slam and Spell-Like Ability, and Fragile and Light Blindness. Heh.

For SLA, at will is a bit OP, so it'll probably only be like 3/day or something.

How do you want your mutant to look and where do you want him to hail from?

Edit: Also finished descriptions for the eight nations of the Free Folks' Alliance on Arakandras. Player's Guide updated.

So I was looking at the mutant and was a bit confused. I found most of the mutations and deformities, but I was curious about extra head. I could find everything else, just not that deformity.

Hey Grixus.

The extra head has no mechanical effect, only a roleplaying and aesthetic effect. The extra head will be its own separate entity with its own separate personality from the actual PC.

Are you breaking away from the tradition of the dragons of D&D. In that the region they are found in differs, and with possible alignment differences. Red dragon ruling deep in jungle, instead of the usual green or black dragon.

Hmmm... A dragonless skymp enclave. Could work. One for red dragon, might be tricky considering they like to kill strangers on sight entering their realm.

I see you adding nations alphabetically in sequence. I take it you have content available elsewhere as scraps, and now compiling the rule book.

1. Yeah, Aetheras will be different in most regards, so forget everything you know :)

2. The kuyathalhayan skymp aren't really the best choice for a skymp PC.

3. Hmm maybe. why? :)

1. Yay, so a big red can be a good dragon. silver can be outright evil. Oddly, I prefer monsters should be alignment free in source books. The settings should give the alignments. This allows for greater diversity of using the monsters.

2. Thought so. So awaiting remaining nations.

3. Just observations on your progress. That is all.

OK, I can't resist rolling for things like the Mutant. I might still make a Drin or an Adraka, but let's see what the dice have for me:

1d20 ⇒ 19=Telepathy
1d20 ⇒ 6=Feral
1d12 ⇒ 11=Useless Arm
1d12 ⇒ 10=Spasms

OK, so I have a bite and clawed hands, one of which is useless, but I'm telepathic, and I don't want to fail a Reflex save.

@DarkOne Agree. The last two nations Vyx Torvath and Raath Karboth are nations ruled by demons. I had hoped I was done, that you had enough material to create a char from, gosh ;)

@DD Lol DD. You can make him a psionic.

Edit: For some reason, one of the full page illustrations had chosen to cover up a page that it wasn't supposed to and this essential information was missing:

Character Creation Continued
After you have chosen your race and class, there are still some things to consider.

Buying Traits and Feats
You can buy Traits for 50 CP and Feats for 100 CP.

Equipment
You do not get starting gold or gear from your class. Instead you can spend CP to buy equipment. When buying equipment this way, 1 CP is worth 4 gold.

@Chingo, What can I say. That is why I am here. To burn your creative mind in overdrive. :p

So far only 1 place for skymp PCs to come from (the dragonless one). I hoping for other possible places, or enclaves for the skymp PCs.

Chingo Chaplo wrote:

Which gold, PF gold or setting gold?

Heheh :)

And Slarlakharna. In reality, they could come from all over, but they will be more common in southern countries: Neshmir, Astalar, Illyntir, Cerilia, Odar Rythia.

PF gold.

Does the starting gold thing still matter since we're third level?

Yes, but bonus equipment options will follow once you've made your characters.

Dotting for interest

Dotting, cause I'm interested in The Forged...

One question: with this point buy system, one could start with more feats/traits than normal, right?

Theoretically YES.

You decide where to spend your 500 cp. Can be all spent on ability scores, or all on feats and traits, or all on equipment, or a mix of the 3 if taking humans. Non-humans, you need to spend on race too.

Yep, what DarkOne said. :)

Kazurrariss is a female skymp sorcerer hailing from Slarlakharna.

What colours do skymps come in, besides the brown to red ones from Kuyathalhaya?

Thinking of taking draconic bloodline, unless someone has alternative suggestion. Busy reading up on bloodlines.

Any color you'd like.

Oki, the alias has been created.

Kazurrariss is a female black skymp sorcerer.

Who do we have so far for the adventure?

You and one other.

Are you going to be using anything from the Technology Guide?

@Chingo, Would you allow this Linnorm Bloodline, which is similar to the traditional Draconic Bloodline.

@Han Del For the Cryptotech, I'm going to use various resources, and also create some myself. I don't own the Technology Guide, but I might use some of what is available in the SRD.

@DarkOne I'll allow it.
