"There will be a cleric of Abadar tomorrow morning," Cressida assures Mavor, "but bringing a healing wand with you to the mission is indeed a good idea."

"Now if you don't mind, I have more work to do. You'll be escorted to the barracks."

And so you are, like Cressida said, escorted to the barracks. You each rest, and the next day you wake up feeling slightly better.

You've all healed 2 HP, and those with lowered Dex have healed 1 point of ability damage.

I need a Fort roll from both Baer and Kwoon.

"Those terms are fine Cressida. I just want to know what I'm dealing with."

Kwoon turns to Allyph, "Yes, sharing is fine, which is why I mentioned it first as my offer. I just need to know if the others will share as well. It's the kind of thing I wanted to know ahead of time. I'm glad Mavor feels that way. Now that I have lodging, even if it is on tab, I have some money to spare as I apparently will stay here rather than find an apartment to rent. I have 27 gold to contribute. I will contribute more later, but that is all the gold I have been entitled to so far." Kwoon hands over his gold to whomever wants it for the wand of healing. (This will be reflected in my inventory)

Baer wakes the next morning, prepping herself for the day.

She practices with her staff and again with her readings.

After breakfast, she tries to strategize with the team.

"Shall we retcon the destination first, then come up with a plan? Or shall we just use brute force? I am happy with either," Baer says, but it more clear that she lacks the patience for too much strategy, preferring decisive action.

"Give that first gp back to Allyph, I'll wait on my share." Mavor says as Kwoon mentions the repayment. "That or save my life and your debt is repaid by my standards."

The next morning Mavor wakes and is obviously very pleased when a cleric arrives to take care of their wounds.

When Baer mentions tactics afterwards, Mavor looks pensive for some time, something that's new for the others as he seems quite a brute from time to time.

"Well we know that they are at a butcher's shop called All the World's Meat, we have several options to get in, brute force being a simple answer. We could also try deception or stealth, either sneaking in from the back of the shop if there is a back or try to bluff our way through to get information. I'm not sure as what we could pose as, people in need of meat, family members trying to get the meat to a safe place and therefore armed or perhaps people that want to help them out and offer them a cow or something."

Mavor looks to the others with a raised eyebrow.
"Any other suggestions or a preference how to handle this?"

Denario listens to the suggestions of the others.

"While brute force is an easy way, an attempt at deception or stealth might be better as a first. As to what we'd possibly be posing at, it might depend on what we're wearing. If we can go by our normal attire, a simple travelers group looking for meat as supply is cliché but common.
Mavor's suggestion of armed citizens looking to buy meat is a plausible excuse."

Baer snuff, preferring brute force, but willing to tame her instincts to go along with the group.

"Tell me what you would have me do. I shall help in whatever we decide," Baer grunts over breakfast, taking another roll into her mouth.

"If they have meat there, we might be able to eat well thereafter. This is a good mission to have."

She looks at Denario.

"Looking like simple travelers should be easy enough. Which of you wants to do the talking," Baer looks at the group.

Not you, please! It's a wonder those guards didn't hang us!

"Uhm, uh... Y-you know, uhhh... Perhaps, we, no, I, uhh..."

Allyph can't figure out a subtle way to tell Baer to please keep her mouth shut, and continues to speak incoherently.

"Well, I have a plan if you are interested." Kwoon thinks about it for a second, then continues. "I think we should start working as guards as ordered, and on the second day, one of you start complaining, loudly, about how much you dislike the guard duty. Make it well known you are unhappy. The next day you then start out looking to 'join' the rebels. Thus, you can find out where he is, what he is up to, and so on. You then offer to work as a spy, but in reality you are our spy and we can find the best time to grab him alive with little resistance. Nothing personal, but this probably is right up the ally for one of the orcs. You can say how mistreated you are in the guard for your racial heritage."

"Kwoon, your plan seems to forget that we are supposed to be outside the guards. Not affiliated with them. In Cressida's words: 'Hence agents of the Guard, instead of becoming actual guards,'" Baer says.

"For that reason, of the two plans, I prefer Denario's. It might get the job done today."

While discussing a strategy Kwoon suddenly feel nauseated. His legs almost give out for a moment, and he's just barely able to keep his balance.

Kwoon, Dex damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1 Kwoon, Con damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3

Not that much later there's a knock on the door, and a young man wearing the clothes of a cleric of Abadar enters the room. He's escorted by two guards, who take up positions outside of the room.

"Good day," the man says as he interrupts you. "I've been told you need to be healed up?"

The man takes a quick look at the party, takes his holy symbol, and holds the symbol up. He then clasps his hands together and says a prayer to Abadar, after which three waves of positive energy heal the party.

Channel: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 4) = 10
Channel: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 6) = 14

"That should do it. Is there anything else that needs fixing?"

When the party points out the wobbly feet and nausea (ability damage), and what just happened to Kwoon, the cleric inspects each of you.

"You and you," the cleric says to Kwoon and Baer, "have been infected with filth fever. I'll try to cure both of you from it, but first let me tend to the current discomforts."

The cleric takes two scrolls of lesser restoration, and uses one on Allyph, Denario and Kwoon.

Allyph, LR: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Denario, LR: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Kwoon, LR: 1d4 ⇒ 3 You'll have to choose a stat you want cured.

After using the scrolls of lesser restoration, the cleric takes two scrolls of remove disease and attempts to cure both Baer and Kwoon from their disease.

Baer, CL check DC 14: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Kwoon, CL check DC 14: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 Kwoon's cured from filth fever.

"That's all I can do," the cleric comments before he leaves.

He turns to Baer: "Eat your vegetables, or something else to boast your fortitude. Or perhaps some of your comrades here can help you to overcome it."

As the cleric leaves, so do the guards next to the door. You're left to continue strategizing.

@Baer: Because you now know you've the filth fever disease, the others can aid you with Heal checks on your next Fort rolls.
There's 1 Fort roll every morning, and to cure yourself you need 2 consecutive saves.

Afterwards we could ask for a few of them to accompany us to help carry the load of meat we're buying from them. If Verik comes with us we could easily overpower him, if he doesn't and a few others tag along, we could rough and tie them up then go back for Verik. We will have less resistance."

Mavor looks to Baer and grins.

Baer gathers her stuff in preparation to go to the shop.

She is ready.

B1. Shopfront

A sign bearing the image of a fat, smiling cow hangs above the entrance to this shop. Inside, a long counter runs over half the room’s width, beyond which a door stands ajar. A low bench sits against the east wall, while to the north a marble-topped table displays cuts of meat before a wide, grimy window. A few flies crawl and circle in the air above the meat.

Two guards stand at attention here—Baldrago (a tall man with bushy eyebrows that merge into one just above his large flat nose) and Malder (a wheezy man whose chainmail doesn’t quite fit his ample frame). Malder stands behind the counter, while Baldrago sits on the bench.

When Mavor and Allyph enter the shopfront there's a young couple in front of the counter, begging Malder for some meat. Another man stands close to the counter, and has just obtained some. "Thank you! Thank you so much!"

You can see this from outside:

B6. Cattle Pen

This large cattle pen is open to the air, and the stink of manure, mud, and animal is strong, despite the breeze that wafts through the stockade’s wooden fence. To the south stands a roofed shed containing a straw-filled wagon. You see no animals in the pen.

There's a new map! I placed Mavor and Allyph inside, because they were going to do the talking. The others may of course also place themselves on the map and start post :)

Mavor walks in with Allyph by his side and he looks around the shop and grunts while doing so.

He patiently waits for the man and woman in front of him to be done with their business. He keeps his greataxe on the ground and seems to lean on it very slightly.

When the people move out of the shop he approaches the counter and leans on it with one arm.

"G'day to you sir. Word's on the street that yer distributing some fine meats. Me and the lass here have come from Old Korvosa to acquire some meat for our families and friends if possible. After all these riots some of us run scarce in resources you know. The couple in front of Mavor and Allyph receive some meat, while the man who already has some leaves the shop. As the couple leaves and both Mavor and Allyph step forward, two new men enter the shop.

When Mavor offers assistance Malder stops talking, takes a good look at both Mavor and Allyph again, and looks at his mate.

Baldrago understands Malder's look, and begins to usher the two new men out of the shop. "Come back later, we're closing for a moment."

"But sir, I...!"

"Kick off, or I'll kick you out!"

"We could, perhaps, use assistance," Malder says, "but how'd you hear about us needing assistance?"

Baldrago meanwhile closes the door behind the two men. It's visible to the party members outside what's going on, if they'd look through the front window. However, they can't hear what's being said.

Baer waits outside, unsure what is happening, but more certain that 'brute force' might be the next solution offered.

Allyph exits the shop with Mavor. She sees Baer's positioned out of sight of the two men inside the shop, and heads for her. (Placing everyone else there as well.)

"Well... that wasn't a success..." Allyph concludes.

"They seemed to believe us, but for some unknown reason they don't want our help."

Baer stares at the back two doors, large and unencumbered.

"I would suggest raiding the front, but that would just allow the rats to slip out the back. Just the same, splitting our group might give them advantage, as we do not know how many are inside," Baer snorts.

She looks at Mavor.

"Mavor, there is a wagon by that back door...think you can either use the wagon to block egress or jimmy the doors shut? Or maybe we should shop for some pitons to keep them shut while we go in the front? Or some magics from the Academae, Denario? A scroll or two?."

Baer points at the far back door.

"If we can bar the far one, we can leave one person here at this muck door while the rest of us brute through the front."

"Good idea, Baer! I doubt these men will be going anywhere, meaning we could go and buy the scrolls."

Allyph motions at the double doors next to the wagon. "I volunteer to stay outside and keep watch. If they try to escape through either pair of doors, I'll either zap them or put them to some kind of sleep."

"Well, i don't believe we purchased any magic scrolls from the academy. Unless you have some hidden on your person?", she smirks.

"But blocking an exit is effective usually, sure let's do that."

Mavor nods in agreement to what Baer says.

"That seems like a good idea Baer, it would probably be best if you and Denario at least go buy those scrolls, seeing as you two have knowledge about these sort of things."

"I'll keep Allyph company on her watch for anything strange from this shop. Though I'd suggest we get to a place that's a little out of sight, we don't want them to know that we're snooping around, do we?"

Baer looks at Mavor and Denario.

"Well, I thought it'd be a better idea if you'd look at that far door to see if you thought we could jimmy it shut...or just block it first. I'm unsure."

Baer looks at Denario.

"I won't be stepping foot in the Academae, but I can give coin if we need the scroll."

Denario, Mavor: we really need you to drive the action a bit more. Not sure Kwoon is still posting and Allyph, for obvious reasons, won't be pushing things. We need more focus on moving things forward. It's good to say things...but even better to *do* things.

"Well Baer, if Alyph and Mavor are keeping watch out here, shall we head to the other side of the house? Maybe we can find things to barricade the door with."

Trying not to be seen, Denario tries to move inconspicuous.

I know Mavor's feeling ill, which is probably why he's been posting less frequently as of late.

I haven't heard from Kwoon since his last post. He's also not posted in the game he's GMing. So I'll bot him for now.

"I'll stay on this side, and keep watch," Kwoon informs the others.

"If Mavor can block the door at the back, Allyph and I will likely be enough to prevent anyone's escape from the other door. That way the three of you can enter the shop from the front, or do whatever else you think is a good plan."

By staying low Denario sneaks to the other side of the building without being seen by the men inside the shop.

Updated Map

I may want to mention the structure to Denario's right is the shop's next floor, not a second building on the map.

"Sure thing, but the men may get suspicious if they see me hanging around or trying to skulk round to the back of the building. I'm not that stealthy to begin with. I'll try at least, but be wary and alert if things go wrong. I'll take the long way round to the south side."

Stealth: 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (4) + 1 - 4 = 1 Well that's a miss for sure.

Mavor tries to quietly move around to the back, but his large size and posture come into contact with much of the trash and rubbish that's littering the road close to the pen and almost stumbles near the fencing and kicks away a broken glass bottle causing even more noise.
