As mentioned, I'm happy to spend Fondo surplus for others needs. I'll happily trim down my recent purchases to that end, with Euan's permission. My main powergamer concern right now is that he be able to meet enemies where they are (fly/air walk), and not be too much of a glass cannon. Not too worried. He has decent HP and a high AC - tough not as I can do with my alchemist... What, 14th level and not 40 AC?!?
Sigh. The sadness of a power gamer who also likes roleplay.

Thanks to the makers of Dandilion, Barael, and Briar for your efforts to help address The Stuff. I'm hoping we're backish on track.
I'm so grateful to DM_Euan for his hard work, and great patient wisdom in helping things play out for the better.
Nikolay Vasilevich |
Nikolay's purchases:
Post 1
Buy:
Headband of Vast Intelligence +4 = 16,000
Cloak of Resistance +2 = 4,000
10 Potions of Lesser Restoration = 3,000 (I know we have a wand, but this is one of Nikolay's few concerns)
A week of nights at the establishment = 1,000
Sell:
Headband of Vast Intelligence +2 = 4,000
Cloak of Resistance +1 = 1,000
Current: 39,890
Sales (1/2 of value): 2,500
Purchases: -24,000
Remaining: 18,390
Post 2
Nikolay will also seek out a scroll of overland flight so he can add the spell to his spellbook. Nikolay considers spending most of every day with the spell up.
I'm not walking above the ground all day like the elf though.
(1250 scroll, 250 scribing = 1,500)
Remaining: 16,890

He looks at Briar a moment. "Tell me devotee of magic's source: what glimpse can you of our near future gain? What truths from ether can you pluck?"
Not ignoring this, Fondo. Just waiting for other things to commence.
Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end.

Ah well, I'm fine with parallel narratives while I enjoy the current lovely one as it proceeds, but as folks wish.

Day 11 note:
Last bit of Briar craftery:
-6000 gp: 3 days to upgrade Cloak +2 to +4.
Briar has 10k or so to loan out. Do we need another large supply of wands and diamond dust before we return?
I'd suggest:
4x Wand CLW = 3000 gp
1x Wand CMW = 4500 gp
7500gp in diamond dust = 7500gp
-------------------------------------
15000/6 = 2500 gp each
Thoughts? I'd like to be prepared and recognize that damage dealt to us might be pretty ridiculous.
Dandilion Dreamstruck |
-1125 gp Magic Jar
-500 gp Gems (3 left)
-3000 gp Baraels boots
-100 gp for the stupid bistro owner
-375 prestidigitation wand
_______________________
Total spending for this trip to date:
5100 gp
and a definite yes on the group wands and diamond dust.

In case you missed it, I put all of DM_Euan's recaps into one Google doc, HERE. Let me know if you have trouble accessing.

Uh, that's way too much to read. I'd appreciate a Cliff Notes version, thanks.
Oh, and a Visual representation in the form of a calendar, showing cycles of the moon, that would be great.
It would be great if you would kiss my bum.
That's iambic pentameter. Savor it.

I believe you are remembering #2 Briar. One Stone Shape (as I recall) will be enough to free that passage. You left the walls thin that way as a bolt-hole if I remember our conversation. One Stone Shape in an un-obvious area and you're free!
That's exactly it, GM Evilan. Since you know it so well, we can assume that you have surprises planned behind that door...so clearly I cannot choose going through that door #2. But it's so simple! All I have to do is divine from what I know of you. Are you the sort of GM who would put a great evil right behind the door so close to us? Or did you put it further away? Now, a clever GM would put the undead near us, because he would expect that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the door in front of us. But you must have known I was not a great fool; you would have counted on it, so I can clearly not choose door #4!
/me rambles on...
Anyone have any objections to exploring door #2 on the morn, then using that as a exit to the outside and some scouting from there?

Briar waits, sucking on an egg.Eventually they will talk themselves out, then we can actually act on things.
Ha ha ha. Fondo talk himself out? How long do elves live again?

I'll cover the rest of your comments and questions after this scene... I will say though it sounds like your plan is to head to the vaults and hope that Sabina shows herself somewhere that Majenko can see her, then have him find you and relay that information quickly. From what Vencarlo said before he left, that could be days of waiting - and it might be at night too. Is that the plan?
Uhm. I don't think this is it. If this is it, Briar will be coming up with an alternate, not limited to stalking the streets until Trifecta or Sabine find him...or something else.
Dandilion Dreamstruck |
Patience is not a virtue this group has in abundance. And that is probably fine. My thought was for Majenko to use his dragon image-y thing to look around , but yes, if it's going to take days or weeks for this, then we'll have to do something else, if for no other reason than to keep Briar and Fondo from blowing something up.

On second thought, this is a grand start...let's go to the vault. Let's forget Sabine for the time being. I'd rather have the Elf go ask at the GM headquarters to speak to Sabine than wait weeks.
Vault then? Let's do that.

I say we craft a clever plan to draw Sabina out. I find it fun when PCs take the initiative in that way. Dandi's idea of finding and cornering her is great, but a trap component is needed.
Briar the Lesser |
Have we asked Cressida what she would have us do? She has tactical knowledge of what's going down.
Read me, Halfblood. There is a lot of fluff around that...but that post has the important stuff.
Briar the Lesser |
Otherwise, your discussions aren't the only thing delaying our progress...
If the talky-talky plans don't bare movement or action soon, Briar will go a different direction.
Fondo Barondo |
I'd like to suggest that trying to isolate Sabona or assaulting the castle are two things that will require some planning and getting aligned with each other. I totally get that not every PC is patient about talking out plans. And that not every player loves that sort of thing. But instead of throwing our hands in the air I sum ugliest we get behind a plan and add what details are needed to make the plan great.
Briar the Lesser |
Sum ugliest to you too, Varisian.
No, I have no problem making plans. However, if the plans take days to make AND require Charlie and/or Nikolay, are they really plans and are they really going to happen?
How long should we wait for those plans to happen before we can move on to something more direct?
I support either the scrying and/or the sending plans, but neither one is happening and neither one really involves Briar. I can't push them along. The plans that Briar wants to do, he can push along.
