HP 9/23 Perception +3 Investigation 0

A broom! I'm at 1 HP cause of a broom! :)
Emron laughs.
A broom!, ha! Childs play!
Emron cuts the broom down
Longsword: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

I'll give until tomorrow before I bot the round.

Urrnir watches the fight with a bewildered look, but does not yet move to act.

Giving up my actions for this round.

Hearing the noise from above, Bazim moves to the stairs and calls up.

"Is everything alright up there? Do you need any help?"

Geth charges through the bedroom into the third floor hall last, and had no warning for the strange trap undetected in the walls. Black scythe like claws snap from the doorframe and catch Geth completely unaware.

Geth Dexterity Save: 1d20 ⇒ 5

Geth attempts to dive through the blades that suddenly appeared, but gets caught as his momentum carries him forward his head slides clean away from his body.

Geth hasn't posted in a month with no indication of future posting. He will be replaced after this introductory adventure, but it's down to five for the Death House.

Mythandir and Emron hit the broom with swift retaliation.

Massive Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 1

Mythandir manages to force the broom perfectly vertical to avoid a nasty blow from magical energy, and Emron uses the opportunity to hack the broom in half right where the handle meets the brush. There is a gasp of sparkling wisps leaving both halves and the now mundane trash lands loudly on the floor of the closet.

Finally getting to the bottles that spurred the attack, Emron now sees they are aged and browned bottles of vinegar used for cleaning.

You are out of combat in the house once more. What is your next move guys?

Looking around the blades have retracted into the wall as quickly as they appeared. Geth's body lays at the party's feet, though his head is nowhere to be found.

Updated Map

"By Moradin's Hammer! What happened??", the dwarven paladin calls out to the others as he starts to run up the stairs.

"I don't know. I can't believe we lost someone." He looks down at the headless body of their former companion. "I hope we don't run across something similar and have it happen again. Do you think we should leave this place? Those children lied to us, an d I don't like this place.

"We should burn this place to the ground is what we should do! The evil is set in the brick and bones of this place. Better to destroy such an evil than let it stand to entrap other unwary travellers."

"That's what I've been saying the whole time!"

Male Tiefling Warlock 1

Mythandir is silent, staring at Geth's body. He moves to find a blanket to cover his former companion.

Mythandir grabs a blanket from a bedroom and covers the corpse, but as he pulls the blankets across notices a strange pattern to the blood near Geth's hand. The tip of his finger is covered in his blood, and there is a small arrow pointed towards the section of wall next to the doorway by his body.

HP 9/23 Perception +3 Investigation 0

Emron kneels near Geth, tears rolling down his face. His longsword is pointing into the ground.
I have failed.

Balandusk walks over and places a hand on Emron's shoulder. You can't fight a trap," he says, trying to reassure the dwarf. He looks at the others, and asks, "What now? I would agree with Bazim in burning this evil place to ash."

Urrnir notes the blood on the floor. "It seems something yet wants us here." she points to the wall indicated "Something could be there. If we have the chance, it would be wise to deal with the spirits directly before cleansing this place. Elsewise they could interfere."

HP 9/23 Perception +3 Investigation 0

Emron stands up.
I've failed
I cannae go to Moradins Hall.... then I'll send these bastards to tha Hells wit' me.

You can roll either Wisdom(Perception) or Intelligence(Investigation) for the wall.

HP 9/23 Perception +3 Investigation 0

Has this gone the way of the dodo?

Not for me, I'm waiting on you guys to do something.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Updated Map!

Urrnir runs her hand along the wall, and feels a nearly invisible seam. tracing it she finds the only place there is crossover is the wood joining the paneled wall with the balcony rail. She presses without much force and the wood swings away, revealing a handle. Opening the wall she finds a secret door with staircase running into the attic. There is another door on the opposite wall which she pushed to reveal the mirror in the bedroom to be a secret door as well. Climbing the creaking stairs she finds a room to this new floor.

Progress!

Knowing most of the others to be wounded to some degree or another by now, Urrnir now elects to head up the stairs first. Thoughts of arson have somehow been pushed to the side by this new development.

Bazim follows the human up the stairs, but stops before getting to the very top to sense for any evil beyond the door.

HP 9/23 Perception +3 Investigation 0

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Emron gazes intensly at this new room, lest another companion falls to this damned house of death.

Updated Map

Bazim steps into the upper floor and surveys the area with his divine sense, only to find nothing but an empty room with several doors. The wood is warped and extremely aged up here, and dust and cobwebs cake all surfaces.

There is a door to the North and East (Top Left on the map), to the East, to the west, and to the North and West.

The door to the East has heavy iron hinges, steel support brackets, and steel bolt locking it tight. There is a padlock locking the bolt in place coated in cobwebs.

Balandusk looks surprised at the revelation of the secret doors. He shakes his head back to reality and follows the others. He looks back at the body of their fallen companion with a frown on his face, then makes his way up the stairs.

You have a crashing noise from behind the north wall (left on the map), and there is the light whimper coming from behind the door to the east with a padlock.

Male Tiefling Warlock 1

Mythandir looks at the padlock. "Any of you handy with a pick?" he asks.

"If not, I will bash the lock with my hammer...."

"I have never learned to use those, but I would have to agree with Bazim. Though I would be careful, in the case that there may be a deadly trap on the door."

"Nor I" adds Urrnir "Seems we'll need to use force."

HP 9/23 Perception +3 Investigation 0

Stand back. If any dies, I'll be the one.
Emron peers down at the lock, looking for traps.
In Investigation: 1d20 ⇒ 18

By all indications this is a finely made padlock, maybe too finely made. There is no corrosion or petina despite the obvious dust and cobwebs and even surrounding metal showing considerable age.

Even the key hole is an exotic design compared to anything you are used to.

"That door seems to be oddly secure compared to anything else in this house. I'm still not sure if that's a good thing or bad." He looks at Emron as he examines the lock. "Have you found anything?"

What are the hinges like on this door? DO we have access to them? Also how is the padlock affixed to the door and is that hardware old or new?

The door opens to the inside (no access to hinges), but the iron surrounding the padlock does look much older and weaker than the padlock itself.

Bazim takes up his hammer and strikes the door at the hasp of the lock, hoping to break the older metal, or sheer it right off the door.

Attack(?): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Damage (Two-handed swing): 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Bazim Advantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Bazim's strike doesn't destroy the lock but the iron tears from the weathered wood. After a moment nothing else happens, he strikes again.

Bazim Melee Weapon Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21, Bazim Advantage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Warhammer Damage: 1d10 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12

The iron tears from the door along with the bolt from the wall and the door swings inward to the room behind. This room contains a bricked up window flanked by two dusty, wood-framed beds sized for children. Closer to the door is a toy chest with windmills painted on its sides and a dollhouse that is a perfect replica of the dreary house you stnad in. These furnishings are draped in cobwebs. Lying in the middle of the floor are two skeletons - both small with one significantly smaller than the other. They are garbed in tattered and worn clothing, the larger in a high colored cloak embroidered with silver swirls with a gold clasp and the other with fur trim and the same embroidery. The smaller of the two cradles a stuffed skeleton doll with large, uneven eyes...

HP 9/23 Perception +3 Investigation 0

Tha kids wer ghosties? Or an illusion?
Emron scratches at his beard.
Or are tha skeletons fake?

"The significance of this scene is horrifying. What kind of monster would lock children in such a place to let them die...."

Bazim enters the room and, holding his holy symbol in both hands, and prays for the lost souls of the two children.

As Bazim prays there is a cold draft in the room wafting from the dollhouse.

HP 9/23 Perception +3 Investigation 0

Emron notices the dollhouse.
That's a perfect copy of tha' durned house!
Probably cursed too..

Balandusk is taken aback at the site of the skeletons of the children. As Bazim prays, and the cold air coming from the dollhouse enters the room, he gets a puzzled look. "The dollhouse seems to be reacting to your prayers."

Ack..sorry my post did not take...

Bazim finishes his prayer and moves over to examine the doll house. He is looking specifically for any differences between the real house and this one.

Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16

It's an exact replica of the house, says the familiar voice of Rose, Papa made it for me for my tenth birthday.

Every turns to see Rose and Thorn's ghostly image hovering just over their skeletons. Rose floats over and points to a few rooms, It even has the secret door to the attic and the basement stairs, and this secret door in papa's office. He said there's another door not in this model but he said it was in the basement. We're not allowed in any of those places though. I once went into the attic and was grounded for a month!

I will reveal the entire house map when I get the chance - including the secret door shown here.

HP 9/23 Perception +3 Investigation 0

Let me guess.... it also includes the durned trap that killed Geth!
Emron yells, his face a mask of twisted rage.

Rose cowers a bit, and Thorn shouts, Don't hurt my sister!

"Oh please," snaps Urrnir "you've both made a point of leading on unwary travelers - one of whom is now dead. Your lives, or lack thereof, aren't the ones at risk."

The two children look bewildered and clutch each other. They cower at the shouts of Emron and Urrnir.

HP 9/23 Perception +3 Investigation 0

Oh, yes. Ye deliberateleh led us into a forsaken death house! Where even the broom tried to kill us!
