to be clear the thing spins around and fires in all directions, it does not target people specifically, but fast and randomly, so there is bolts on every corner of every wall in the room. The name of the trap is called "Pillar of 1,000 Arrows."
In the room where the trap is, there is no magic here, just the trap in the center, and two doors that exit the place, the door you just came from is now closed and is one way, so you can't go back the way you came. Though you could go through the one way door and walk all the way around.
let me know who is actually going into the next room and who is staying here, who is in front, who is in back. Or if not, you can go through the one way door go around and explore the eastern room with all the statues.
updated the map in red to show cleared out areas

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Should we go to the 2nd floor, or did anyone want to clear out the west wing here? I'm good for going to the 2nd floor...
Hood appears to be in heaven as he investigates the pillar of 1000 arrows.
"Fascinating!"
As he looks at the door to the south, the halfling begins to sing a soft tune.
"Well, I'm not the kind to kiss and tell, But I've been seen with Sheylyn.
I've never been with anything less than a nine, so fine.
I've been on fire with Yasmin Faroud, gone fast with a girl named Bo.
But somehow they just don't end up as mine...
It's a death-defying life I lead, I'll take my chances.
I've died for a living on the stage and in the plays.
But the hardest thing I'll ever do is watch my leading ladies,
Kiss some other guy while I'm bandaging my knee."
George Chadwick Parker |
Parker listens to the tune, and notices himself tapping his foot. "Heh. That's a damn catchy tune, Hood. I suggest we go and see what we left on this floor, before we go upstairs. No sense lettin' good coin go to waste, and ya never know what we gon find.", says Parker, his finger tapping on his belt. If one is perceptive enough, they can see ice crystals forming for a second as he does it.
I dislike leaving rooms unexplored, you never know what you can find there. Also, Parker casts from the hip."
Theadric Greyhood |
I've taken the liberty of moving all of us to the western passage...please move your token if you don't like your position. After we are all ready, Hood opens the door.

perception: 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 1 + (20) = 21 orwynn
the next two were behind Karuut, thus they have unfavorable conditions, and they were both 10 to 15 feet away from it.
perception: 7 - 2 - 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 7 - 2 - 1 + (3) = 7 theadric
perception: 5 - 2 - 1 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 - 2 - 1 + (17) = 19 Garg
The last 3 have to see over a whole line of people, so they get a perception check with terrible conditions and they are 20-25 feet away, subtracting another 1.
perception: 2 - 2 - 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 - 2 - 5 + (9) = 4 asterion
perctpion: 6 - 2 - 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 6 - 2 - 5 + (20) = 19 Karuut
and george will never spot it unless it was pointed out to him.
Orwynn spots the trap on the floor. If everyone has an acrobatics of at least -4 or higher, you would all be able to run start, take 10 and jump over it since you only need to clear a five foot trap space and have to be at least 1 foot beyond it when landing, which I will assume you did, otherwise if not, for everyone to make it safely across, I need someone to disable the trap with disable device.
Theadric Greyhood |
"Watch this!" Hood says as he gets a running start on his pony and vaults over the trap.
"Everyone else try it too!" the halfling shouts encouragingly.
"This is SO fun!!!"
acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 Will do the method you suggested to get across safely.
DoubleGold |
okay so you all get into the next room and see a special wooden golem arcana to reveal weaknesses
There are some stairs that lead down to the Golem, which is currently inactive, and going off to the lonely section to the right is steps that lead to nowhere, as locals of Kassen were going to connect the two sets up steps but never finished the dungeon. If you go straight forward, parallel to where the stairs would be, that is a 5 foot drop. And you need a acrobatics check of 10 not to fall prone, though you don't take damage. Going down is not rough terrain, but going up is. Arcana check of 15 reveals info you want to know about the golem and additional info for every 5 points above that.
George Chadwick Parker |
Knowledge(Arcana): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
"Hmm, a golem... I ain't one to fiddle with them, those things are above our payroll. Let's just go, folks.", says Parker, remembering what he heard about golems, and their almost complete immunity to magic.
Taking 10 would also allow Parker to drop down safely.
George Chadwick Parker |
Parker grins with an uneasy smile, and replies, "Well, anywhere but here's gonna be fine. I ain't one for golems, and I'd limit my exposure to 'em, and I reckon ya wanna do the same thang."
Parker suggests taking 10 on the room for perception and then bailing to the second floor, since that's all there is to see on this floor.
George Chadwick Parker |
Turning to Asterion and putting a facial expression that says, Damnit, the hell did I just said, Parker says, "Right now, it ain't active. But I ain't gotta clue what's gonna spring it back to... well, life. Hold on to your hats for a second, I got me an idea." Parker says, looking at the Golem.
Casting Detect Magic and scanning the room for magic things, mainly ones that would involve golems, control rods, and golem control rods, if Parker knows about them. If not, just magic around the golem and around the room.
Taking a step forward, Parker analyzes the auras in the area, looking at the golem, ready to bolt at the first opportunity.
GM, what's the special thing about the golem? I'm waiting for a result on my arcana check. Also, I just realized that the average Int in the party is below 10, which is simply hilarious. I'm not saying it's bad or anything. Just, you know, funny.
Theadric Greyhood |
Hood watches Asterion with acute interest.
"Usually I'M the one that runs in somewhere first! Let's see how this goes, I guess, but that thing looks kind of mean."

It's been a week since our DM posted...I hope he's okay and feeling well!
had my nephew over for the week so been busy. As far as sick, I'm not dying, I'm healthy according to the doctor but my organs don't work the way they should....They think I'm sterile, and they ruled out disease.

Theadric, Karuut and Asterion is up
Theadric Greyhood |
I think the side on the left has the stairs that are finished? I'm thinking that's what you explained, and if so, I'll just head down. If not, let me know and I'll find another way down or make an acrobatics check.
Hood watches as the golem animates and comes to life.
"Ancient guardians!" the halfling calls out with excitement. "Awe-SOME!" he says in a sing-song voice.
The halfling rushes down to engage it.
"This reminds me of this act I once did where we had these big wooden warriors swinging weapons around, and I had to dodge and work my way through this obstacle course! Fun stuff!" he yells to the others.
The halfling stabs at the construct with his lance, but clearly intended to miss, in all likelihood not wanting the fight over too quickly. His pony, however, lands a solid hoof attack.
lance attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
handle animal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
hoof attack1: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 191d3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
crit?: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (4) - 1 = 31d3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Theadric Greyhood |
"My favorite answer is always to kill stuff with fire and explosions! I always say that, but this thing is even made out of wood!" Hood yells as he dodges and weaves.
DoubleGold |
I'm going to do what I think Karuut would do, as I'm botting him
Karuut rages and charages in, in fact he uses power attack hit: 7 + 1d20 - 1 ⇒ 7 + (10) - 1 = 16
dmg: 1d8 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 2 = 9 slashing dmg and makes a good hit with his axe oh by the way, this thing has DR 5/slashing, so when hooves hit the thing, Theadric noticed it did not do the dmg it should have enough though it connected.
It will try to slam Theadric hit: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (19) = 24
hit: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (16) = 21
ouch sorry, didn't want to go after the inactive guy and didn't expect to roll that good
dmg: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (4, 7) + 8 = 19 nah, I was just kidding, it targeted your pony and not you. Assuming a 21 hits your Pony it takes all of that dmg.
George Chadwick Parker |
Snowball: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 5) = 10
3 spells left.
George shouts as the pony is knocked down, and quickly sends a bolt of ice towards the golem. The bolt jams into its shoulder, but it doesn't seem to slow down. "Awwwww, I say we run!", as he dashes towards the door where the others are.
Theadric Greyhood |
"No!!!" Hood yells as he pony falls. "Zyzzyx!!! Pony down!" the halfling yells as he regains his footing.
Stepping back from the construct, he draws his wand from his belt and touches his wounded pony's shoulder. It begins to stir.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Pony has 17 HP, down 21 to -4, cured for 9 to leave it at 5 hp
DoubleGold |
Karuut swings again with rage and power attack hit: 7 + 1d20 - 1 ⇒ 7 + (12) - 1 = 18
dmg: 1d8 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 2 = 11
And the golem looks like it lost a lot of chunks. regardless of whether or not that is a hit with snowball that thing is still alive and it is its turn
Okay so the Golem swings at the horse again hit: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (20) = 25
hit: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (18) = 23
confirm crit: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
dmg to horse: 3d8 + 12 ⇒ (4, 5, 7) + 12 = 28 The golem likes to beat a dead horse
George Chadwick Parker |
"Aw, shit." shouts Parker as he sees Zyzzyx fall down. "Let's smash this son of a birch!", as he launches another ball of ice at the golem.
Attack, touch: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6) = 13
As the ball shatters in the golem's body, Parker looks again at the creature, trying to see how badly wounded it is.
I'll ask for Theadric's and the GM's permission for Parker to summon the essence of Zyzzyx every time he casts Mount.

Thanks man...FYI, Zyzzyx isn't an animal companion but a pony I bought...I can buy another one. However, my character is built for mounted combat, and may not do as well without a mount. Appreciate it. :)
