Nadab becomes bored with waiting for the door to be opened and decides to check out the arrow pillar to see how it worked. He touches one of the cogs that Quinn had stopped and the last arrow that had jammed frees up and stabs him through the eye...
Ohh poor Nadab... Ok that's out of the way...
Meanwhile Brayken decides that the door has been checked thoroughly and pushes Quinn aside. He shoulders the door open with the help of Faunra. The door opens however Faunra strains her shoulder and decide to wait here for a while.
A continuous carving of mourners runs along the walls of a short hallway that opens up into a wider room. opposite the door your entering though a stairway leads down.
Quinn Garside |
"Good then, Ven. So what have we got in here?"
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Quinn holds his sword arm out horizontally to block the progress of the others. He whispers, "I think there's three skeletons standing behind those three pillars. Got any good ideas? Perhaps we can lure them back here to the doorway as a choke point...?"
GM Kip |
The Skeletons remain absolutely still as Quinn points them out.
Faunra Chorval |
Faunra draws her greatsword. "Sounds like a plan. I'll go up in front. You kids can stand behind me."
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
"I think I see them too. Hopefully there aren't more behind them. They don't look too smart. Bottlenecking should work." She moves to the left of where Venedictos is.
Brayken |
Brayken, trying to forget the gruesome death of Nadab, heads into the room after Venedictos gives the okay. Moving to D9 he stops short when Quinn points out the skeletons.
"The choke point would work, and I even have a good lure here," he responds as he pulls out his sling and a bullet.
Perception: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1 Not able to see them clearly, Brayken fires a bullet at one of the pillars instead.
GM Kip |
Brayken 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Skeletons 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Venedictos 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
As Brayken steps into the hallway and flings his sling bullet into the room the skeletons snap to attention moving as one. They march towards the hallway leaving a trail blood behind them that drips off their bones. Two hang back a little while the third moves straight up to Brayken slashing at him with its claws.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
The first scrapes harmlessly on Brayken's armour
Claw 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
and he easily ducks under the second.

Skeletons (acted)
Faunra <--------------------
Venedictos

Quinn
Feel free to jump in in any order.

GM Kip |
Casting bless in battle is fairly in character for a cleric. I have no problem with you doing it even though you missed the religion check.
Samuel Soulkeeper |
Samuel rushes over the stairs, flying away from one danger just to fell into another. He first hears the noise of battle, just to spot a triada of bloody skeletons. Som of the human voices out there seem familiar to him.
Without hesitating he starts pronuncing arcane words and an acid dart is launched from his hand towards the closest and clearest target.
Acid dart range touch attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Acid damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Then he tries to find the best cover he can within the columns and walls of the crypt.
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Quinn Garside |
Quinn rushes up the skeleton that Braken has stepped back from. He thrashes his short sword at it, hoping to hinder its attacks with some furious strokes of his own.
Fighting Defensively: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 3 - 4 = 1
AC +2 = 20, T 15, FF 15
Sorry for the delay in posting. It has been a busy few days.
GM Kip |
Venedictos calls on his goddess and a wave of holy energy spreads out blessing him and his companions.
Faunra fires at the skeleton in the hall the arrow skitters down the halls walls.
Brynn steps back and loads and fires his sling but the bullet goes high and soars over the skeletons head.
Footsteps sound from the other side of the room. A man appears, arcane words fly from his mouth and a dart of acid hits one of the skeletons. It's bones sizzle and it crumples to the floor. The man dashes to the cover of one of the pillars.
Quinn darts into the hall and ducking and weaving he thrusts his short sword wildly at the skeleton there.
The skeleton swings its claws at Quinn
Claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Quinn nimbly ducks under the first claw
Claw 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
But the second catches him on the forearm
Dmg: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The other skeletons head spins on it's spine as it searches for the new threat.
Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 8
It spots Samuel and it's body turns to realign with it's head as it marches across the flagstones towards him. It moves op to the stairs and then steps in to attack swinging one of its clawed hands.
Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Claws catch Samuel across his chest drawing a little blood.
Dmg: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Init: Everyone is up!
Quinn Garside |
Seeing a stranger attacking and being attacked by the skeletons, a stranger casting spells and not wearing armour, Quinn looks to tumble past the skeleton. This should leave the choke point for the others to be able to handle this skeleton. He ducks, weaves, and feints
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Move action
...but he can see no way past.
"Hang in there, Stranger, I'll be there to help in a second."
If I can get past this skeleton.
Attack with Short Sword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
GM Kip |
The skeleton gets an AoO for the failed Acrobatics check.
AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The skeleton swipes at Quinn leaving an opening in its defence. Quinn thrusts his blade through the skeletons ribs chipping a little bone off.
Brayken |
" S#*t, there's someone in there," Brayken grumbles as he hears Samuels approach and attack. With someone in more immediate peril he drops his sling and pulls his glaive off his back, suddenly much more serious. "We are not losing anyone else to this accursed place!" he yells thrusting his glaive at the skeleton infront of Quinn.
Power attack with cover and bless: 1d20 + 7 - 1 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 - 1 - 4 + 1 = 5
Damage w/power attack and bless: 1d10 + 6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 3 + 1 = 12
Sentiment was there, skill (dice roll) was not.
Samuel Soulkeeper |
Seeing the skeleton dropping in the southern corridor, Samuel starts running without losing sight of the remaining skeleton. Once he recognises the familiar face of Qinn he starts shouting and trying to get cover behind the group. "For Erastil's sake! So good you are here! Please let me run away of this monster!" if you allow him Samuel withdraws 55' until behind Venedictos.
withdraw to avoid AoO from first square, and I asume the pilar cover allows me to ignore AoO from second square.
GM Kip |
Channel Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
@Venedictos Does your channel have extra range? Isn't it 30ft radius centred on the cleric?
The skeleton in the hallway trembles as Venedictos's energy sweeps over it but it manages to stand firm.
@Faunra unfortunately you can't reach the skeleton with your greatsword. You could use that roll for something else though. An overrun? A bow attack? The hallway skeleton has used it's AoO this round.
@Samuel I'll resolve your action after Faunra's but the skeleton in the hallway is still on it's feet at the moment.
Torso boy: 3 damage
Samuel Soulkeeper |
As it seems the skeleton will stay there I will change my actions to the following if you accept it.
Samuel rears back, and behind the protection of the column he takes one scroll from his scroll case. Reading the arcane words he casts the written mage armor spell over him.
5-foot behind column (cover avoids AoO)
Move: retrieve mage armor scroll
Standard: cast scroll
GM Kip |
Brayken slices past Quinn with his glaive but the skeleton in the hall nimbly steps aside.
Faunra rushes down the hall past Brayken, past Quinn and past the skeleton shoulder charging it as she goes, knocking the skeleton on it's back.
Samuel steps behind a pillar and casts his mage armour spell from a scroll.
The Skeleton in the hall stands up Provoking AoO's from Quinn and Faunra. If it survives those...
It attacks 1 is Faunra, 2 is Quinn: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Claw vs Faunra: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 A hit
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The Skeleton by the pillar steps around the pillar and attacks Samuel with both claws.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20 A Hit
Dmg: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Claw 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Crit confirm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 Just a regular hit
Dmg: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Quinn Garside |
AoO: Attack + Flanking: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 = 10 Stab and a Miss.
10 Damage, ouch.
"Curse you lot back to the lower levels of Hell! We're coming for you Soulkeeper!"
Regular Attack + Flanking: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 3 + 2 = 23
Damage + Sneak Attack: 1d6 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (1) + 3 + (5) = 9
Samuel Soulkeeper |
Samuel hits the floor unconcious and dying do to bleeding.
Stabilize (DC 16): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 -1hp
That AoO maybe it's not a miss Quinn, the prone condition is still maintained as you stand up, thus the skeleton has a -4 AC
Brayken |
If the skeleton in front crumbles from Faunra's AoO (also having a little fun with all the ways to denote cursing):
"#&*?*$# and now he's getting attacked. What was the *bleep* doing down there in the first *bleeping* place?" Brayken roars as he pushes past Quinn, steps on the now inanimate skeleton and sidesteps around Faunra (to end up in C5).
He brings his glaive to bear and tries to hack parts of the third skeleton off.
Power attack w/ bless: 1d20 + 7 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 7 - 1 + 1 = 10
Power attack damage w/ bless: 1d10 + 6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 3 + 1 = 13
If the skeleton in front is still standing apply these rolls to him.
Samuel Soulkeeper |
As the divine energy channeled by Venedictos touches Samuel his wounds close stoping the bleeding. He is not dying anymore, but still unconcious and menaced by the third skeleton will the stranger survive to unveil the mistery of his presence?
GM Kip |
Quinn: Ten hits the prone skeleton so I applied the damage you rolled to your AoO
As the Skeleton in the hallway moves to stand Faunra and Quinn smash it apart with thier swords.
Brayken moves out of the hall to Attack the last skeleton and slashes at it with his glaive but the skeleton dodges the savage cut.
Venedictos barrels through the hallway into the room and sends healing energy out that passes over Samuel closing his wounds. Brayken and Quinn feel refreshed as well.
Still to act this round: Faunra and Quinn.
@Quinn if you Attack the other skeleton you may use the attack roll from your post above (21 without a flank or 23 if you manage to get into a flanking position.)
Brayken and Quinn: Your Non lethal damage should heal from Ven's channel energy.
GM Kip |
Faunra turns and stalks the last Skeleton and swings at its head but the undead thing ducks beneath her blade.
GM Kip |
Unfortunately Samuel is unconscious and can't give you a flank.
GM Kip |
Quinn moves up to the last skeleton and strikes at it, his sword bouncing off its spine, chipping the bone slightly.
The skeleton slashes at Quinn and Faunra with its claws.
Atk vs Faunra: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15 Miss
Atk vs Quinn: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Miss
Then it steps back towards the wall.
Brayken |
Brayken moves around Quinn to standing behind him. E2
He tries to slice the spine of the skeleton once again.
Power attack w/ bless: 1d20 + 7 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 7 - 1 + 1 = 14
Damage w/ bless: 1d10 + 6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 3 + 1 = 12
GM Kip |
Quinn, Faunra and Brayken all land solid hits on the last skeleton. It's bones crumble to the floor next to Samuel. In amongst the bones, blood and rags Quinn and Faunra see a glint of silver.
Brayken |
Brayken, missing the glint of metal, rushes over to help the prone perwon who had been hiding in the dungeon. He tries to start getting bandages ready but remebers he is a complete failure at field medicine and is liable to make matters worse. He sits, puzzled for a moment, before dragging the man to Venedictos.
Venedictos |
Venedictos takes out a potion of CLW and carefully feeds it to the unconscious man.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Quinn should have been at full after Vene's previous channel of 6 points, but if not, this brings both he and Sammuel to full.
As Samuel's eyes open, he sees a fat balding man smiling down at him. The last echoes of a beautifully sung note fade away as consciousness returns.
Samuel Soulkeeper |
As world's conciousness returns to Samuel's mind, his head swings back as he mutters "Am... am I dead?" as he gets concious from the man in front of him, he stands up and jumps back trembling.
"Who-who, who are you? What are you doing here?" as his eyes become used to light again he gets concious of the world finaly recognicing some of the men around him from Kasen.
"Oh my god luck you are here! It has been horrible! Plenty of undead suddenly attacked us for no reason! I barely managed to scape! And then those giant frogs! I was lucky again and escaped just to stumble with this skeletoos here. Luck you are here! For Erastil's sake it has been horrible! Luck you where here!" The middke aged man looks visbly altered, repeating himself again and again. "Dead! Everybody is dead!"
"But how did you manage to reach here uharmed?"
