Finally after what seems like three life times worth of fighting, the giant skeleton seems to fall back as his bones turn to dust
~~end of combat~~
story update later tonight when home
Ecthelien the Grey |
Margat and Flaern, can either of you operate these wands to get our friends injuries patched? I hope there are no more undead lurking about, so it would be wise to be prepared.
I think this is the first character I ever created who cannot use a CLW wand. :
Fundir |
CLW: 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (5, 6, 8) + 3 = 22
As someone taps him a couple times with a wand, Fundir sits up with a start. "What?! Where?!" he looks around, panicked.. the last thing he remembers is a massive skeleton with his horde swinging an overly large sword at him, then.. nothing.
He sees the disheveled state of his companions, and carefully climbs to his feet. "I see we prevailed.. but only just. Please.. allow me to help get everyone back on their feet. I am sorry I failed.." he looks about with hollowed eyes at the many wounds, before rushing to his fallen teammates.
Not sure who is still down, but roll enough to get you back awake and I will deduct the charges from my wand.
Fen Kitlom |
CLW: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 8) + 2 = 13
Fen is healed enough to become conscious. "Did we get him?" She begins to look around the room for what he might have been guarding.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

When you all go to light the lantern with the Everflame, the spirit of Kassen stirs from its rest and rises up to thank them for putting an end to Asar. He tells you all about Asar and his relationship with the mercenary captain. Although he does so reluctantly, he even reveals that the two of them were once adventuring companions, and that they split
ways after acquiring a great deal of treasure. Kassen is sure that Asar felt cheated after their last quest and that is why he came to attack the town.
Kassen knows nothing about the bandits, but notes they only stole the amulets with which he and Asar were buried with. These amulets are part of a key that opens up the great treasure vault they plundered so long ago. Kassen remembers little about the vault itself, but he does remember that the amulet points the way to the vault if it is reassembled from its three component parts. The last part was given to Iramine, an elven sorceress that was part of their group.
After giving his thanks, Kassen reaches into his sarcophagus and produces several items, presenting them to the group with his thanks. After handing out the gifts, he slowly fades from view, returning to his eternal rest.
Treasure:
a bag of holding (type I),
a +1 bashing shield,
an elemental gem (water),
and one scale from his armor for each Person.
Kassen explains that these scales will grant them his boon in their hour of need.
Fundir |
Thank yo uGM for finishing this and getting us through!
Fundir gratefully accepts the gifts of Kassen before returning to town. Once there, he participates in the relighting ceremony before telling the Mayor of all that transpired on the journey.
Once the dust from all of this has settled, he finds himself sitting outside of the tavern, relaxing in the same chair in which this adventure started.
It's long past time that I return home.. and enough side journeys!! he thinks to himself.. almost a mirror of how he got dragged into this mess.
He lifts his tankard in salute to the other companions as he sees them enter the tavern for a much needed meal.
"Well met, my friends. It was a pleasure working with you!!" he calls out, offering to buy the first round.
Arol Halfling |
As Arol lays there unconscious, one of the others is kind enough to use the healing wand upon him.
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
He stirs, but remains incapacitated.
A second tap of the wand is enough to wake him. He sits up and looks about him.
CLW Wand: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
"Uhhh. Desna's blessing upon us, we're all alive?"
He slowly gets to his feet.
"Amazing work all. Fine work indeed, I'm just sorry I couldn't help out more."
After the lantern is lit, and the spirit has spoken, Arol will follow the others back to town to report.
Sitting in the inn after everything, he muses to himself.
"If I'm going to keep doing this type of thing, I really need to get some more formal training. Being quick with a knife is good, but I nearly died today..."
Thanks GM, and thanks all. I appreciated the chance to play my first actual pbp game with you.
Ecthelien the Grey |
"this was quite the unexpected adventure. How fortunate we were all able to combine and finish this menace ."
Well done all. Thanks GM. Good times even until the end.
Fen Kitlom |
Fen takes the gifts gratefully. "Thank you."
She takes a seat at the inn. "I can't believe we made it. I was very unprepared for this job. More preparation is needed."
Thank you GM, and players. I had a good time.
