Lets see what else is in here....

Brezik has a little under 350 more pounds before weight becomes an issue.

Al: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Starting at the bottom of the complex you open the only door you have left to you.The iron door opens with a screech to reveal a staircase that leads down, curving away to the east. There is a musky odor in the air, like that of a caged animal.

Brezik and Qina notice the stairs are designed to drop down into a slide leading around the bend.

Nonlethal collision: 1d6 ⇒ 6

This tall chamber is broken into two levels. Loose gravel, dirt, and bones cover the bottom level, while a walkway traverses the upper level from east to west, leading from this room. At opposite ends of the room on the lower level stand a pair of gigantic stone statues, roughly carved in the image of Razmir, his hands held high to support the room’s ceiling. Each statue sits upon a pedestal with a large hole in its base that slopes down and out of sight.

A terrible hissing emanates from the holes as an enormous, yet emaciated, cobra slithers out. Its fangs dripping venom it moves to attack.

Bite vs prone target (whomever is down): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Its hunger seems to have interrupted its concentration as it drops its jaws over a small boulder instead of its target.

Qina: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Cobra: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18

The cobra removes the boulder from its mouth and strikes a second time!

Same as first: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 I didn't mean exactly the same TT'

Vivian dumps out of the shoot behind Brezik and Belathorian, the sound of her multitude of metal causing a near deafening noise storm in the stone passages. Once the stairs change into a slide, Qina's face lights up and she jumps forward with reckless abandon. Down and around she goes, giggling the whole way. She rolled into room and slided to a stop as she crashed into Vivian's legs with an "oomph."

Climbing to her feet, she barely noticed the snake until Vivian's war cry drew her attention. She stood up, fell back a few feet and pulled out her trusty wand.

The snake snaps wildly at Brezik before his hit comes through.

Heading back up to the basement level everyone retraces Gad'larr and Brezik's steps to the Chamber of Delights. Inside are all the accouterments of pleasure Gad and Brezik spoke of, waiting to be collected. I think all of the info about the stuff in here has been covered. The silk curtains altogether weigh 200 pounds.

Allister absentmindedly slips it on his pinky finger, the only one small enough to fit the gold band.

Heading back upstairs, Allister cannot stop thinking about the gemstone chair.

Am I even remembering correctly that some such chair exists? If so, what would the carry weight be? Allister wouldn't want to break it apart unless he had no other choice. If it doesn't exist, then we'll just call it role playing.

"Brezik, why do you want those curtains?"

Yep, that chair is in there, covered with gemstones and surrounded by empty wine bottles.

GM's earlier description of the room:

The first room is well made and a cursory search finds a small chest tucked under the bed. The chest contains a necklace, bag, potion, and parchment. The second room is barren having little more than a mattress. The third room is immaculately clean, with the bed crisply made, the floor swept, and all of the personal effects carefully stored and organized.

A map of Tamran with a number of routes detailed hangs upon the wall.

Kn. (geography) DC 10 or Kn. (local) DC 15:
These show a pattern of growth through the city, charting the temple’s influence. While not damning in and of itself, the map does show a frightening amount of progress. The temple and its priests exert their influence over almost half of the city, and a number of routes show they are making inroads into the other half.
In addition to the map, a small desk in the corner contains a number of pieces of blank parchment and a quill and ink. A half finished love poem dedicated “To Iramine, to celebrate your great conquest” lies on top of the desk, and a crumpled up piece of parchment in the trash bin beside the desk lists your names and Evlar. The list also gives notes about your performance as acolytes.

A gold dagger, set with a wide variety of colorful gemstones, rests in the back of the desk drawer.

DC 15 Appraise or Gad:
The dagger comes from the Isle of Jalmeray or perhaps from Vudra itself. Dark blood, blackened by the passage of time, stains the blade of the dagger. It is worth 5,000gp.
The last room, behind the double doors...

A large plush bed on the south wall, facing a carved oak desk on the north side, furnishes this large and opulently decorated chamber. In the center of the room, a large carpet, woven with the mask of the Razmir at its center, spreads across the floor.

While there is nothing unusual about the bed, a small table positioned next to it bears a small whip, a pair of manacles, two bottles of Andoren brandy worth 20 gp each, and four vials of exotic perfumes worth 50 gp each.

Going through the bookcase Vivian discovers three ledgers hidden behind other books. One of these tomes chronicles every copper the temple has taken in since its founding, including detailed notes concerning how it was obtained. Most of the listed transactions are illegal in Tamran, from slave trade and drug deals to blackmail and protection schemes. The second ledger covers how the money is spent, from bribing known officials and guardsmen to paying for illegal goods and services. The tome also records a number of notes of tribute, covering vast sums of money sent back to Razmir for the Living God’s tithes. The third ledger, though mostly empty, covers all of the temple’s exploits in Kassen, including detailed reports from the priests sent there to retrieve the “fragments.” This ledger ends with a short paragraph
dated around 2 weeks ago.

Now that I have the completed
amulet, I shall return to the City
of Golden Death to finish what
was started all those years ago.
At the time, I thought Kassen was a
fool for insisting that we abandon
such wealth, but now I must thank
him. The treasure shall enrich the
Living God, so that he will never
die. Such is the price of immortality.
Now I must return to the Isle
of Terror, and I cannot say that my
journey will be without terrible
danger. May Razmir protect me.

@ Vivian - I think the description you linked is of the black-robe quarters upstairs. We should head up there next to make sure nothing was missed.

GM's description of the throne & silk room:

Using another key from Krant's ring opens the door Brezik spotted earlier. Beyond is a ramp leading downwards to yet another door, though this is unlocked. The stale scent of perfume and incense wafts from this room as the door opens, revealing an opulent chamber with pillows, carpets, and other fineries covering the floor. Silk curtains hang over the walls, and flicking light emanates from a hidden source on the ceiling, which is also draped in curtains. On the north side of the room, a gilded throne, bedecked with tiny gemstones, sits upon a raised dais.

Half-empty bottles of various spirits lie about the room, and an exotic water pipe is set up in the middle, filled with a rich, local tobacco. Golden censers, currently unlit, hang from the columns.

Allister marvels at the gemstone chair. It is even more beautiful than he remembered.

"Guys, come help me with this! I think it's solid gold!"

When Brezik hands him the hammer and chisel, Allister kneels down next to the chair and swings back with the hammer, then stops. "Brezik, could you do it? You're better with tools and I don't want to ruin it."

@ GM - Is the throne fastened to the ground in any way by screws, cement, etc? If so, Allister will ask Brezik to loosen / break it free with the hammer and chisel before he tries to lift it. He can carry a max of 400 lbs Heavy Load, so about 265lbs after gear.

Not fastened to the ground, it's just gilded wood. The throne as a whole weighs 160 pounds.

Searching through the 1st floor leads to nothing new and the second floor remains much as you remember, though the large pool of Al's blood has coagulated somewhat and made that portion of the wood floor tacky. Brezik now takes his time to open the remaining doors to the Herald's quarters, revealing a second empty room, one filled with detritus, trash, and dirty robes, and a well kept room, though this last one contains a crate with a dozen bottles in it, 8 fine wines from Andoran and 4 empty bottles.

DC 20 Perception:
Searching through the trash and filth reveals a platinum ring left on the floor.

The largest room has little more to reveal, though the desk does have a locked drawer. Brezik pops it open after about 6 seconds of work revealing a small leather bag that jingles, another potion, and a small silver raven figurine.

Allister emerges from the temple carrying his gemstone chair, looking proud as if he'd just slain a great red dragon.

He imagines himself a king and this his throne.

Once they are all outside he flips the chair off his shoulder and sets it gently on the ground, then sits on it to regain his breath.

Not as comfy as I would have hoped.

Now the party has explored the whole complex Bel is happy to leave with the others, happy to put the whole thing behind him. He is his usual quiet self when they return to the marshal outside.

I can't wait to get out of this town, get to the road again, then back to Kessen. Big towns are not for me.

He rubs his thumb over the statuette he now carried in his pocket. Krakt had shown him something similar once, though that was black. He had an idea what it was and what he could do with it... he just had to loose the others...

"Put that torch to it Marshal!" Vivian commands the man as she strides out of the Temple with the others. She is too caught up in her mission to realize she has no right in ordering anyone around.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

She turns and crosses her arms, waiting to watch it go up. Once he structure is engulfed she'll turn to her friends, "Come on guys, let's find Gad and feast!"

The Forest Marshal looks amused at Vivian's command, but orders his men to light the place up. Many citizens have gathered around the large building wondering what was going on. The local guards have the area around cordoned off from the general public and fire crews are stationed every few hundred feet to ensure the blaze doesn't spread to other nearby buildings. Because of the stone and the generally wet area in the city the fire doesn't take too readily, but once it catches the flames reach for the sky and the smoke can be seen for miles around.

As the flames take and the temple is finally wiped from existence Bel slowly turns his back, raises his black hood to fend of the light rain and slips into the crowd. Soon all that can be seen from the temple steps is the head of his scythe, bobbing; then even that is lost in the gathering smoke.

Bel heads back to the inn where he sits and heats heartily for the first time since they had arrived in the city.

What time of day is it? Is Bel at Gar's Last Meal or the Forest Bounty?

Vivian debates going to the Temple of Gorum, but decides that sending word is enough for one day. Instead she returns to the Forest Bounty and fills in Gad. After summarizing what happened she asks to see the third ledger, the one detailing the Isle of Terror. She pours over it and builds a list of questions and potential needs.

Then, grabbing the attention of the most senior looking patron, she asks "Excuse me sir, is there a library or university in town? Or a cartographer? I need to conduct some research."

Watching the old temple burn was rather conflicting for Qina. She had witnessed the harm the people who resided there had caused, but something deep inside could not stomach the fire. It made her uneasy, almost sick to her stomach. The more the fire raged on, the farther away she felt herself moving from it. She had agreed that the structure should be destroyed and replaced with something more beneficial to the people, but for some reason the fire just felt...wrong.

As all eyes present watched the building burn, and some even cheered, a quiet hiss escaped her lips as she retreated further back into the crowd.

Gad speaks up at the discussion of their next destination.

"The Isle of Terror is famous in Lake Encarthan. It is where Tar-Baphon the undead necromancer, also called the
Whispering Tyrant of Ustalav, dropped his treasure. Legends say he destroyed a city there and turned it
into a giant trap of some kind. This must be where the 'Vault' Kassen found IS but does not remember. It is
said Tar-Baphon reaches out from his prison in Lastwall to still effect the world around him. My guess
is HE is why Kassen could not remember the location anymore. His power over the undead is said to be nearly
god-like."

At first, watching the temple burn is therapeutic for Allister. His troubles and the blight on this fine city burn away together. However, it does not take long for memories to creep into his mind.

Razmir's temple becomes a church to Folgrit. Allister is an angsty, drunken child again sprawled out on the ground in front of the fiery building, his arm and hand burned so badly they smell. His father's voice is there, too feint to understand, and his mother is dying.

A tear wells in his eye at the memory and Allister decides suddenly that he no longer cares to watch the blaze. Picking up his gemstone chair, he follows Qina and the others. This moment that should be victorious and proud feels a lot like sadness.

Back with the others, the paladin's appetite is nowhere to be found and the smell of cooked meat makes him nauseous.

He orders a strong drink and stares at it for several minutes, then gulps it down like water and asks for another.

At the Temple of Razmiran
As the temple is lit on fire Brezik gets a big smile on his face and becomes lost in the spectacle of the fire and his own thoughts.

Fire and flames have always been an important part of his life. Whether it was the creative power of the forge, the life sustaining sustenance of his mother's oven, the family hearth where his family kept warm on so many cold nights, or even the tales of the keepers flame that powered a young dwarves imagination for so many year... this simple elemental force had always been an important part of Brezik's life. He looked around the square and saw all the people gathered there, not just the guards, but the shop owners, merchants, and working folk of the city with there families. It was a rare spectacle that reminded Brezik of the Winter festival bonfires of his childhood back in Kassen.

Brezik turned to say something to his friends...
Hey guys...
but seeing them not there he took one last look at the city inhabitants gathered around the bonfire and went looking for his friends, happily whistling a little working song his father had taught him as a child.
Whistle while you work....
--------------------------
At the Forest Bounty

The door burst open and in rushed Brezik the last to arrive, seeing as he actually had enjoyed watching the fire burn, a huge smile on his face.

Oh hey there you guys are. You're missing a great bonfire out there.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6; Totally oblivious to the somber mood of his friends the Dwarf moves towards the bar and claps Allister on his back... just a little too hard.

Boy we did some great work today... we should celebrate... An Ale Barkeep.

Looking over at Allister Brezik sees his empty mug.

And another for my friend. But we shouldn't drink on an empty stomach. We're liable to get drunk and do something stupid. Barkeep get us some of that Mutton I smell roasting back there. Better get me two servings.

Brezik takes a long draught from the mug that is handed to him and then turns addressing his friends and anyone else who might happen to be in the room not really caring who hears.

Did you guys see all those people out there. Men women kids... they all know what this means. No more Razmiran's picking there pockets, extorting them for protection money and then using peoples own stolen money to buy their own homes from under them so that they can just raise the rent. We really did a good thing going into that den of thieves and bringing a light to what was going on ther. Get it Allister we brought a light...

Brezik claps Allister on the back again and seeing two plates of mutton being brought to him and Allister he grabs a piece taking a big bite out of the meat.

Wemindds mwe ugf...gulp... Reminds me of when I was a kid.... musta been 25 years ago.... We had this really bad winter where they were talking about calling off the Towns Wintefest Bonfire Party. It had been really cold and no one had any extra fire wood for the bonfires. Well old man Wilson... He was just Mr Wilson back then... well he had this old rickety barn that needed tearing down. Kids used to dare each other to go running through it thinking the whole thing could come crashing down any second. Well old man I mean Mr. Wilson comes to the town elders and tells em if they come and tear the barn down then they can do whatever they want with the wood.

Brezik stops to take another bite from his mutton and washes it down with some ale leaving a mysterious dark spot in his beard.

Well next thing you know next day the whole town is out tearing down that old barn. Ma even let me and Flint go with Da to pass out Hot Cider to the workers. I swear though I drank more cider than I gave out. Town gave most of the wood to folks who was having it roughest that year, but still had more than enough wood to have the biggest bonfire I ever did see.... Well that was until tonight.

Still unawares to his friends mood the dwarf having finished telling his companions what he had wanted to tell them back at the Temple begins to work at the mutton in earnest.

Vivian soaks up Gad's knowledge, making notes of more things to research. When Brezik orders Vivian signals the barkeep '+1 for her' as well. She in a good mood too and enjoys the dwarf's story.
"Gosh! I remember Pa telling me stories about that fire! That was the winter he started courting my Ma too. As he told it, he would shovel off roofs because the snow was so heavy and wouldn't stop falling. He was up on my Ma's parents roof one day and a weak timber gave in! Liked to say he fell right into Ma's arms but I don't know for sure. It is true though and that the very next day he was up there again patching the hole."
Vivian takes a drink of the ale. "I guess they knew each other growing up together and all but it wasn't until that day that he actually started to notice her. Said 'the neighbor girl became a woman over night, just under my nose.' I guess after that it's the story everyone knows, especially you Brezik seeing it happen and all." Vivian's mood isn't ruined by the memories, they're of happy times and of home. She does seems a bit detached though, like she's talking about a dream or things she'll never have.

Gad’larr Fireblood wrote:

OH SNAP!

Bel is eating quietly, listening to the others chatting. This reminds him of the good times on the road to the tomb, before the horrors of the world were revealed to them all.

When Gad mentions the Whispering Tyrant Bel's vision swims the walls seem to close in on him and, finally he blacks out...

-----------------------------------------------------------

He was looking up at the magnificent ceiling, a masterful painting depicting an army of angels mustering for war.

"Are we sanguine gentlemen? This mission mustn't fail, cannot fail. The whispering tyrant draws great confidence from the strength of the necromancer to his west. If the Tyrant is to be bested the necromancer must fall. This may be a final act."

Looking around the room through another mans eyes. A circle of heroes, and him part of that circle. The woman speaking opposite him was glowing with a holy light.

Unwittingly he steps forward, he does not recognize his own voice

"I will go Arazni."

No more needed to be said, the eyes that turned to him were wet with sorrow, but steeled with the knowledge of necessity.

The world faded to black once more, until all that remained was the shining outline of the Goddess before him. Then even that was lost to darkness.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Bel slowly comes round. He is laid out on his back staring at the plain, cobwebbed ceiling of the inn...

Reginar comes back to the Forest Bounty amid the festivities, "Well friends, you've done it! The last of the Razmirans have been sent packing and are on their way across the Lake now. Now, the city wanted to give you a 'bounty' of sorts for being able to help out as much as you have." He takes a large sack from his pack, clearly larger on the inside than out, and places it on the table, "3000 gold. Hopefully you'll be able to use it well and keep up the good you're doing for Nirmathas and your home town."

He goes to the bar and orders more drinks for everyone, raising his mug in toast, "This is to you! You crazy, fury-ridden adventurers!" The smile on his face takes any unintended sting from his words.

Brezik's intervention saves Allister from alcoholic self-destruction, and changes his drink of choice from whiskey to ale for the evening.

"Maybe that means they'll make me a Lightbringer now! HA-HA-HA-HA!"

Perhaps it is the Dwarf's story, or Captain Vivian's love story, or the warm food, but Allister's sullen mood quickly changes. That happens frequently while in the presence of his friends. Soon he is laughing loudly, swatting the others on the back and hanging on them with a smile.

"Years ago, before I joined the Dawnguard, my mom got really sick... Well one night I stole a bottle of scotch from my father's cabinet and drank it down light water, trying to drown my feelings, right? Once it was gone I started to feel guilty. Here I was healthy and drunk and she was alone and dying..." Allister pauses, gives a pained smile and finishes his ale, then continues. "I went to see her and they wouldn't let me. Said she could be contiguous or something. I hit one of them priests pretty good, then made my way to this temple in our town, a church of Folgrit. Light some candles and say some prayers, thought maybe the Godess of wives and mothers would take pity and save my mom..." He stops again, takes a few breaths. Knowing he has his friends' attention, he goes on. "The church was so pretty, great big wooden beams and a tall ceiling. Well I kept on lighting candles until I'd lit every one..." He smirks, darkly. "Next thing I know my dad is dragging me by the arm and the whole church is on fire. Roaring, like it was alive. Those beautiful beams are falling and sparks are flying up into the night."

Allister rolls up the sleeve on his left arm, revealing the burn scar they had no-doubt seen but been too polite to mention. "The church burned away and would have taken me with it, but for my dad. My mom died that night. A month later I joined the Dawnguard." A fresh new tankard of ale in front of him, Allister gulps it down in one go. "That was the biggest fire I'd ever seen, until tonight. Made me think of my mom. Maybe those old memories will start to leave me alone now, but I doubt it. I think they'll always be there, like this scar."

The emotional paladin slings his arms over his two nearest friends. "I never told anyone that story before. Never had good friends like you guys either. It feels good letting it out."

Belathorian slumps off his seat and thumps onto the wooden floor. "HA-HA-HA-HA! Bel must've been trying to keep up with me! HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!"

Gad will nod and say little about the praise.

"We could not have done it without our friend Avlar here. He's a true son and citizen of Nirmathas. If I may suggest...he is looking for a path in his life.
