I missed that part about earlier guns being simple weapons as well...gonna recheck crunch before finishing up.

Lloyd Jackson here. Stats should be done.

Dragonborn3 here with crunch done. Moving on to backstory.

Don't worry about this, I can keep Havoc's spells in check! I'm a partial DM for him in another game anyway, so its not like it would be any different. ;)

Not sure what I did wrong with the point buy...

Quote:
@Embrianna: Of course it's possible. Incidentally, you may want to give me a name and description of the bad fellas that killed your husband (but don't include Slate)

Bad Fellas:

Over the years they've gained and lost some gang members, the four below were the ones who were present the night of the fire and her husbands death.

Jerras Blackstone -
Leader of the group.
class - gunslinger
Description - Early 30s, about 5"11", slender but muscular build, dark tanned skin, dark, shaggy brown hair that he wears down to his shoulders to hide that he is missing most of his left ear. (Lost it in a bar fight in his late teens.) He's the one who shot and killed Embrianna's husband.

Jaxus Blackstone -
Younger brother to Jerras.
class - gunslinger
Description - Late 20s, about an inch or two shorter than his brother, same build and hair color, though Jaxus keeps his hair short. His temper is also shorter than his brothers and is prone to getting into bar fights (mostly because he is a terrible cheater at cards.)

Darius Keen -
class - rogue
Description - Mid 20s, about 5'8", his pale skin usually slightly sunburned in this climate, golden brown hair, slight, wiry build. Favors a variety of knives as weapons. Cold and deadly with his throws. He was the one who dealt Embrianna what should have been a fatal blow. When she fought against him when he was assaulting her, she bit off part of his lower lip. In anger he then shoved one his knives into her chest. (She still have a scar just over her left breast where it missed her heart and she still has the knife he left in her.)

Lucas Darrow -
class - fighter
Description - Late 20s, about 6'3", broad shouldered and muscular build, Light tan skin, white blond hair, pale eyes. Carries a revolver on one hip and a long sword on the other. He's the one who set the house and workshop ablaze.

@Kyto the Blade: excellent, you're good to go but please work out your Duel stats and put the prices of your equipment. Is you katana magically enhanced? I can't figure out the final modifier. When is your wife going to post her character?

@Kratzee: Sorry to hear that.

@Katz-ne ate:Same as everyone else: Duel stats and item prices. Other than that you're ready.

@Noa Emekai: Looks fine, put your duel stats and your final attack bonuses. Get to the background.

@Mordechai: My bad, they are ok. Remember to add the duel stats, and just some more spice to the background.

@Embrianna: Nice *takes notes*. Still waiting for your combat stats and equipment.

Confirmed characters so far:
Sanzu, No Emekai, Grymblade, Embrianna, Mordechai, Thelnyss, Shosuro, Katz-ne ate, Kyto the Blade
Still waiting confirmation from:
DreamAtelier, Arknight, CyraXIII, Soren
Hope I haven't missed anyone.

Added duel stats to character page (looks like Ill be avoiding them like the plague)
Better background to come...

Since the Holy guns get a battered revolver like the gunslingers do, does that mean I can also use Gunsmithing to upgrade it a MW weapon if I pay the 300 gp?

Well I'm really good I think as a duelist I think.

my Katana attack is +7 (+1 trait, +2 str, +3 BAB, +1 Mwk weapon)

@Pixel Put a new tab in my profile, called shopping list (where I wrote how I spent my gold). My duel stats is for both the Heavy Flail and the Longbow: +4bab, +3Str/Dex, +1Mwk, and the bow gets +1 from my trait, while the flail gets +1 for charging with a melee weapon (I guess?). Tried to find a discussion thread in the OOC part of the forum, have you put one up yet =)?

@Embrianna: Reposting this:
One additional note on classes and archetypes that start with a gun (Gunslinger, Musketeer, Trophy Hunter, Spellslinger, Holy Gun...): they can swap their starting gun with a more advanced or expensive gun, provided they pay the extra gold. For example, a Musketeer starts with a musket. He can start with a rifle instead, but must pay 2125 gold (2500 gold minus 375 they would get for giving up their musket). The weapon they give up is not considered to be battered. The new weapon can be masterwork or magical (regular additional price rules apply).

@Thelnyss: correct, your stablock is fine.

Background posted on character page...enjoy!

lolz :)

I'm hoping to have my revisions up later thIs evening.

On an interesting side note, check out this upcoming project from Adamant Entertainment (non PF though): Far West

That. Is. Friggin. Sweet.

I wan't to use that pic of the guy in a straw hat and duds as Mordechai's avatar :(

@Mordechai: excellent stuff.
@Arknight: very well, as soon as you are ready I think we can start a group.

About Far West: never heard of it before, but that doesn't surprise me. Westerns and Samurai movies were very close in style and theme since the beginning. Also there is Samurai Western, Sukiyaki Western Django, Red Sun... I'm certainly not the first one that came up with the idea of mixing Western and Eastern elements. As I was discussing with yukongil by mail, it's because the times are finally mature for fantasy crossover settings. We gamers are exposed to a lot of awesome settings and fiction genres, and the temptation to mix them is very high. I believe that a lot of fantasy crossover rpgs or even videogames will pop up in the next years. And with Pathfinder publishing Gunslinger rules, it was simply bound to happen that different people would have the same idea of a Western fantasy setting.

Case in point: Far West. Will follow this project closely, looks pretty sweet.

Will post the first group lineup and discussion thread soon, so stay tuned.

I just stumbled across this, is there still room for another? I am thinking of an ex-cavalry officer (either fighter or gunslinger) with lots of mounted archery .. err .. gunnery.

Crunch complete and character ready for review.

Pixel Cube wrote:

@Mordechai: excellent stuff.

Thanks!

@MisterLurch: there is still room: I was looking for another character to reach the magical number of 7 players per group. Fighter is not an available class in this setting, but for your concept, have you considered Trophy Hunter ranger or Musketeer (a cavalier archetype). Every gunslinger is also available.

@Grymblade: You're good to go.

DISCUSSION FOR GROUP ONE IS UP. I have split the players depending on concept, role and to balance Western and Eastern characters. This campaign will be called Crouching Dragon, Smoking Barrel. The other one for group 2 will be called Pouncing Tiger, Flying Bullet. Will start a new campaign and discussion as soon as more players are finished with their characters. Both group will start next Monday regardless of empty spots or withdraws. Therefore there is still time.

The groups will start in different places but in a similar situation, and face different encounters. Fell free to peek at the other's group thread, but don't let the info you get there influence you.

GROUP ONE is the following
Embrianna
Mordechai
Grymblade
Noa Emekai
Sanzu
Thelnyss
And I will include a melee character here, most likely Arknight Samurai, to make seven.
Report here at the Discussion thread.

To the other that have their character ready: just wait a little bit for the others to finish, everyone will start on Monday anyway.

Arknight here :)

This is the profile I'll be using for my samurai. I'll have a bit of crunch up later after home from son's football game.

Cyra's character will be up tonight.

Which modifier? The second set is just the two-handed damage if that's what your wondering.

Grand Lodge

I'm very sorry, I'm going to have to bow out. Some problems have come up, and I'm not going to have the time.

I believe that's everything.

@Masao: good, backstory ok.

@Kito: I was talking about the attack bonus.

@Soran: sorry to hear that. So, we definitely have an open spot.

@Katz-ne-ate: You're good to go.

Updated with crunch. Just have some basic gear to get still and should be all set....

So, where/who is the other game exactly? (That is the one I'm in, right?)

GROUP 2 DISCUSSION IS UP.
Confirmed players so far:
Katz-ne-ate
Kyto the Blade
Shosuro
Report here for the discussion thread.
Still waiting confirmation from DreamAtelier and CyraXIII.
If this group is short of players for some reason, I will include Masao here too.

There is still place for a couple more people, so recruitment is still up till monday.

you can sign me up for group 2, and I should have something for you by end of day. What does the group consist of so far?

Sign me up for group two. :)

I will be bringing in a Human Gunslinger (Musket Master)

I will have him ready by day's end.

posting a samurai build and backstory within the next few hours.

Very good. So far group 2 is made of a Desert Druid, a Kensai Magus and a Ninja. Non confirmed characters: a gunslinger vigilante and a chirurgeon alchemist.

DreamAtelier, are you still there?
CyraXIII, how is your character coming?

Hmm looking very eastern and mystical so far. That should be pretty cool.

yukongil wrote:

Group two is the "mystical" eastern guys.

Kyto = Magus
Shosuro = Ninja
Katz = Druid

I will have background and duel statistics tomorrow.

One question I have is: does rapid reload (musket) count towards reloading rifles? if not, considering that guns are common, can the musket master become a rifle master and give rapid reload (rifle)?

Good. Both of you report to group 2 discussion here.

yukongil, DreamAtelier, are you still with us?

Did you allow using alternate racial traits?

ex. elven adaptability trait gives skill focus as a bonus feat changes to Dual minded trait which gives a +2 will save?

Also a samurai using HOnor in all things ability is +4 bonus to a skill or saving throw. could that be calculated in with you reaction phase reflex roll at the time of the duel if you hadnt used it already that day?

can i get a check on these duel bonuses to make sure im at least close

DUEL BONUS:

rep phase bonus = +2

gaze phase Challenge ability, 4 ranks in intim = +2

reaction phase +1 init +4(+7) reflex = +5(+8)

draw phase Quick draw, 4 ranks bluff, 4 ranks sleight of hand = +3

attack phase attack bonus +10, 1 hnd katana, charge, warrior spirit, dodge = +14

-Yes, all the alternate racial traits from the srd are allowed.

-Yes, you can use the ability during a duel and gain a +4 to Reflexes if you want.
-Your duel stats looks fine.

I keep messing with the link of the discussion thread of group 2: for some reason it goes to group 1. This is the second group campaign general page: http://paizo.com/campaigns/PouncingTigerFlyingBullet, click on the Discussion tag to reach your thread.

So I just stumbled across this page. And I have to say it looks amazing, If there's still an opening in either group and you'd be willing to accept a PBP newbie, I'd love to get in on this ^^

Actually yes, there is a spot in group 2. If either you, DreamAtelier or yukongil manage to have a character ready by 9.00 am EST, I will accept him. It's first come, first served.

Group 2 so far is:
Aedia the Black Butterfly, human bounty hunter (Gunslinger)
Jin-Darus, half elf Samurai
Katz-ne-ate, elf Desert Druid
Kyto the Blade, human kensai (Magus)
Korren Blake, human musket master (Gunslinger)
Shosuro, human Ninja

Game will start tomorrow.

Alright, I'll get started on it right away, Should be ready in an hour or two.

Sorry about my absence... Work and then a week long power outage kept me off line.

Unfortunately, when the power came back on it managed to fry my personal computer, so I'm sending this from a public one at the library.

Given how my work schedule doesn't match up with the library schedule more than twice a week, I'm going to have to bow out, in fairness to everyone else.

Good luck!

Liberty's Edge

...

I submit for approval...One Elven Gunslinger! Everything is brushed up, except for the background story. I am currently working on it though so it shouldn't be long before it is up.

A Fistful of Koban:
Was wondering what Slate's age was? Has to do with my background story...
