Satisfaction at the knife sinking into the vile lizard's back lit the half elf's face for the briefest of seconds. This would be one kill he would enjoy. He turned to the group.

Thel snaps out of his thinking as Pissbuckets screams echoed across the night. He turns away from his vantage point and looks at the fleeing lizard, cursing under his breath.
"Let the lizard run - we have a bigger catch that might slip away! We need to get to the camp and make sure we get Slate before someone steals him away. *sigh* That cursed piece of stink probably woke every soul in this dammed canyon - those that didn't notice the gunfire that is". he takes another movement to contemplate and catch his breath "There is still a chance that whoever that's doing the shootin' are still distracting the camp, so I say we still got a shot at this. What do ya think?"
Thel starts to make his way carefully towards the sound of the battle, intent on seeing what's up.

Needless to say, fear got the poor Pissbucket to his final demise. The lizard screams as the knife sticks into his back, and then drops to the ground, motionless.
It's very difficult to estimate the distance of the gunshots: the Whispering Canyons are famous for their constant winds that make almost impossible to discern from where a noise comes from. That said, the gunshots seem to be pretty distant: there are probably quite a lot of solid rock walls between you and there. And now there is someone yelling, too.
Thel, as you move inside one of the rocky openings of the canyon walls, towards the path that Pete pointed at, you can see something in the sand... Probably some sort of rope, though you can't see what it's attached to.
Grym was back to his stoic self as he walked over and retrieved his knife from the scaly man's back. He cleaned the blade on the Bucket's shirt unceremoniously and rejoined the group as Ember was asking for the pistol theyd found.

"There is a rope here - I don't know what it's attached to. Might be some sort of transportation, or warning system. One thing is sure however, I don't think someone would bother to tie a rope in the middle of nowhere just for s~%%s and giggles so Pete was probably right. I don't think we are going to make it to the shooting in time to make a difference, so I suggest we take the cautious approach and see if we can grab Slate nice and quiet. What do you think ?"
