Male Half Elf Rogue - Knife Master - 1

See ya'll later then at the Clock and Gear.

Grym will head right to G and D's Smithery to pick up some armor pieces. Then it's to Goldsniffer Bill's place for the odds and ends he could think of. He couldnt afford the manacles and figured rope would have to do in the case of any prisoners. He didnt really need anything from here but bought a few items so the old timer didnt feel like he was wasting his time. While there he picked wily old Bill's brain for any relevant information to the bounty and the parties involved.

"If you don't mind, I'll tag along with you Grym" Ember follows him and will pick up some manacles for prisoners and then buys some trail rations and probably a couple more water skins. I'll do the math and add the stuff to my sheet tomorrow when I'm back on my own computer.

Everyone is able to get what needed for regular market price, Goldsniffer's Bill provides you with most of the stuff. The rest of the day passes slowly and uneventful, until dusk comes.

Grymblade and Embrianna: During the day, you hear various people discussing about an event that is going to take place this night at the Red Mist Saloon. A band of travelling bards is going to have a small concert there, so the Saloon will be a perfect place to hang out or maybe find some more information about Slate...

Mordechai:
At the Zen Garden the atmosphere is more nervous than usual. Apparently there has been a duel between two samurais at noon right there, and one of them got killed. The body is not there anymore though, and you are able to meditate in peace

Thelnyss: with some help of the apothecary and some cash for his reagents, you are able to turn the herbs you collected into sleep poison. Just remember to specify how many doses of whinnis or drow poison you have. You can even get a stronger poison if you want, just pay the right amount. Doc Watson is quite upset by the current state of events: there are so many people here and too many with their hands constantly on the trigger, that I just don't have enough drugs and herbs to cure everyone that gets hurt.

Waiting for Noa then I'll move things along.

After he mediates for an hour or so in a tea room, he'll give his thanks to the bartender, and head to the Azure Crane monestary, and see about asking the Sifu there about the jade sphere...

Male Half Elf Rogue - Knife Master - 1

Loaded down with his purchases Grym was thoughtful on their way back to the Clock and Gear.

Well Ember? This shin dig at the Red Mist should be interestin...but thats a deadly joint. Sure to be both hot and cold iron drawn there but if there's a crowd we could learn a thing or two about Slate and his boys. What do you think?

Lantern Lodge

Male Elf Inquisitor(Exorcist) 4

When Sanzu is alone with his companions he will say I think Mr Yabusa was lieing about Slate possiby knowing the uses of that jade device. I do not know anything about the device, but if it is as precious as Mr Yabusa says, Slate may be a lot more dangerous because of it.

Mordechai and Sanzu: at the Monastery they don't know anything about the sphere. There aren't many experts of the occult powers and magic in town: namely, they are Kitara, the witch that lives on the edge of the town, Shao Lin the eastern merchant, and Priest Prester at the Church.

Shrugging, Ember replies to Grym; "I think it could be worth our time to head down there tonight. It might also be best if our posse doesn't show up as one big group asking questions and getting people riled up and less likely to answer our questions though. Going separately or in 2 to 3 groups may be a good idea." Snickering a bit, Ember continues; "I'll even put on a dress and act like I'm there just for the concert, I'm sure it won't be too hard to eavesdrop on some conversations. Want to play my escort? I'd hate to have to shoot down someone who tries to get overly familiar." From her tone you doubt that she'd actually have any problem with shooting someone down.

Male Desert Elf Ranger (Guide) IV

Okay - noted it on my sheet

After the brief wildness and apothecary visit, it's getting late and Thel decides to go to the Clock and Gear and see if anyone else have showed up yet.

M H Zen Gunslinger Monk 4

Mord will try Shao Lin last then, and head over to the Clock n Gear.

Male Half Elf Rogue - Knife Master - 1

Grym chuckles at not only the thought of Ember in a dress but also at the idea of him with such an escort. He couldnt argue with her logic though.

Thats a good plan and Id be honored Embrianna. Although I'm not so sure anyone will believe that a man like me would be in such company.

He teasingly sniffed at his arm pits.

Reckon I'll have to take a bath huh?

Laughing he continued on the Clock and Gear.

Embrianna snickers, "I don't know if a bath is a good idea. Remember, we don't want to stand out in the crowd."

"Well, I guess I need to make one more stop for the day then. I'll need to actually buy a dress."

I'll just add that to my list of purchases for the day, though there isn't a dress listed in the equipment section. How does 10gp and 6 lbs sound for a decent one out here?

Sanzu will head to Kitara first, then to Priest Prestor, when it gets late he will meet up with those at the Clock and Gear. Witches can be a good source for this sort of thing, I want to know more about this jade device. I will seek out some more information on it starting there. When I am done I will find you all at the Clock and Gear. Sanzu says to his compainions with some concern.

Thelnyss and Mord: you meet each other at the Clock and Gear at around dusk. There is barely anyone there, and you heard the gnome bartender whining about "that consumers-stealing half-woman". Chet the pianist is deactivated.

Grymblade and Embrianna: You go around shopping for a while, and Ember finds a very nice dress, in the fashion of the Capital, for 10 golds at Geneve & Durran's Shop. They also give you a pair of stone earrings for that price. After the purchase you meet with the others at the Clock and Gear.

Sanzu:

You reach Kitara's Den at the end of the town. The woman is kind as usual, recognizes you and lets you inside, where cauldrons and reagents are boiling and it's full of strange trinkets and creepy looking stuff. Well met, exorcist. What can I do for you? After you ask about the sphere, she says: I'm afraid I can't be much of a help, because this is the first time I hear about this sphere. But I'll reckon it must be a very precious object, maybe the entire reason why there is a bounty on Slate. And the fellow probably knows how to use it. If Castle wants the thing back, it's because it may make Slate more dangerous for him or for the Reign that it is now. So watch out.

The encounter with Prester is much more unsettling. You arrive at the Church at dusk, and inside there is no light except for a candle. The priest is alone, and more delirious than usual. Greetings, my child... You have come in a hour of great darkness. There is too much calm before the storm, and the demons are just waiting for the right opportunity to strike... You ask the blind priest about the sphere, but he seems to ignore the question. I have visions... Visions of an angel that is losing his wings and turning evil... He can trick your mind, making you believe that you can't kill him or harm him... I see battles to the north, and blood running and people screaming... Will the demon persuade them or will the angel punish them? He comes closer, and grabs your hands. You, my child, must be careful. The forces of darkness are all around us. This will keep them at bay, but not for too much. He then puts something in your hand, and then gets away, heading back to his room. I can't do anything more than praying.

The object is a small, wooden square brick, with a red mark over it. The mark is discoloured so it's difficult to make out what it is. Upon examination, you are able to determine that the thing is magical. It can cast protection from evil once a day, but in a 30 ft radius instead than on a single creature.

Male Desert Elf Ranger (Guide) IV

Thel greets Morde with a nod, throwing a quick question his way So, I see you're not dead yet ?. He laughs dryly Lets hope it stays that way. Lets go and see what the good gnome is muttering about, shall we ?

Thel will chat with the bartender and Morde about most things between heaven and earth, and possibly slipping in a quick nostalgic story in there until the rest of the posse arrive. He'll also try to learn about this "half-woman". So then - tell me, how could one be half a woman ? What is the other half then ? Probably some easterling sorcery - spirits know what they have been dragging here..

M H Zen Gunslinger Monk 4

No luck with Shao Lin then, I take it?
"Heya, Thel. Nope, still here." Nods at the suggestion to talk to the gnome.
"Half-elf, mayhap?" at the question.

Male Half Elf Rogue - Knife Master - 1

Grym had laughed aloud at Ember's bath joke and waited defiantly outside the G & D while she shopped for a dress. He watched without looking for anyone too interested in him mostly out of reflex.

Perception - 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

Meeting up with the rest of the gang back at the Clock; Grym told them about the band coming to the place down the road.

Hey fellas, theres some sort of shin dig down at the Red Mist. Ember reckons that there'd be a lot of information to be had. Wanna head out and see what happening?

Thelnyss and Mordechai: the barman gives you a strange look, like he doesn't understand you question. You know for sure that the Red Mist's owner is an halfling woman, so that probably justifies the slur. Which is wierd, because the barman himself is a gnome. So go figure.

Sorry about that Mord, I missed that. But yeah, Shao Lin wouldn't have been much helpful.

Ember nods along as Grym talks. "Maybe we'll get lucky and some of Slate's men may come in town to check out the band. I think it could be worth checking out."

Male Desert Elf Ranger (Guide) IV

Realization hits Thel with the subtlety of a warhammer oh... Certainly - would be a shame to miss such a thing. Ahh live music... was a while since last time..When do the party start?

He turns to the disgruntled barkeep Maybe you should come along? he laughs Life is too short to be bitter, trust me

Sanzu thanks the old witch and the priest. He will donate 10g to the church on his way out and say a prayer of thanksI give thanks to the spirits of this holy structure, May the spirit of salvation guide those in need to your gates, may the spirits of protection and destruction repel your enemies.

When Sanzu meets the others at the Clock and Gear, he will tell them what was revealed to him. The witch is certain of my beliefs that Slate has knowledge of the Jade device. She did not know anything else about it though. The Priest warned me of his vision. An Angel will loose its wings and turn evil, it will trick us to believe it is invunerable. There will be a battle to the north, will the demon persaude them or the angel punish them? These are his words. With them he gave me this Sanzu will show them the item the priest gave him. It can cast a protection spell from evil in a small area once a day. This bounty will be more difficult now, I can sense it, spirits have woven a web of trials for us. Best prepare ourselfs for the spiders. Sanzu announces this as an ominous fact.

"Sure we can head over to the Red Mist. Wouldn't mind some music."

Male Half Elf Rogue - Knife Master - 1

Alrighty then, we'll just wait for Ember to change into her fancy dress and be off. You two can run ahead if you like. Ember had a good idea that maybe we shouldnt all show up together. We might get more information if we're spread out and such.

As he talked Grym started strapping on the studded leather arm and leg armor. They had dangerous work ahead of them and he expected resistance at every turn now.

Y'all learn anything intersting today?

Let's advance to the night...

After you all meet at the Clock and Gear, you decide to head to the Red Mist Saloon as the municipal clock strikes 8. There are quite a lot of people going there (not many riches and merchants and other "respected members of the community, to be honest), and when you reach it you can hear loud music from inside. The band, a famous travelling act called Stinky Pete and the Bastard Gentlemen, has just finished playing a fast violin-folk song, and they are thanking the crowd for being so supportive.

There are few people gambling (probably because Gambler's Alley is just around the corner) but there are many drinking: Alessa, the halfling owner, is very busy serving liquors and beers around, and you suspect there will be many more drunk people than usual. Thick tobacco smoke permeates the room, and people are chatting and dancing and generally having a good time. There are approximately 50 people here, mainly cowboy natives with few Easterns. You spot dangerous fellows in the crowd, a number of well known town bandits, thugs, thieves and rascals.

SOUNDTRACK

What happens next is quite strange. The band starts playing a soft folk ballad, a very famous and touching one, and all the people in the Saloon stop and listen without saying a word. Especially the various thugs and outlaws: they are very moved by the song's words, and a couple of ugly faced bandits are almost in tears. The athmosphere is surreal: after the song ends, a long applause is shortly followed by more drinking and smoking and dancing.

Your group finds place at a table near the counter.

Perception checks or Diplomacy (Gather Info) checks if you want to get something useful. Perception will have an high DC (there is much noise), while Gather Info won't, but it is riskier (you could attract unwanted attention. Otherwise just declare what you want to do.

Ember changes into the dress and decides to leave her sword in her room and just take her gun. A bit self-conscious about her scar, she meets up with Grym and they make their way over to the Red Mist.

Ember tries to listen to the conversations going on around her and scans the crowd looking for any known members of Slate's band of outlaws.

Male Half Elf Rogue - Knife Master - 1

Not one for dealing with people with much tact; Grym kept his mouth shut and focused on listening to the crowd while he sat with Ember. The last song had spoke to him in ways that he wasnt prepared to explore yet but would cause much reflection later when he was alone and lost in his thoughts of how his life path had turned and the dark prophetic words of Lobokoo.

Wow....nice rolls :)

Male Half Elf Rogue - Knife Master - 1

The sight of Thelnyss actually dancing snapped Grym out of his dark reverie. He smiled and took a drink of whiskey before replying.

This isnt exactly what I was expecting. Seems a bit somber dont you think? Theres a lot of rough necks here tonight. Keep your iron with in reach.

Female Changeling Witch / 8 HP: (51)51 / AC: 13 (with MA: 17) / Init:: +2 / Perc: +6 / Will: 10 , Reflex: 5 , Fort: 3 / CMB: +3 / CMD: +13

"I did expect it to be a bit more lively here. I'm quite surprised there hasn't been at least one bar fight yet. I'm almost tempted to step out on the dance floor myself just for something to do." Ember finishes off her glass of whiskey and signals the barkeep for another one.

Male Desert Elf Ranger (Guide) IV

Thel grins at Grym Always he replies, gesturing to the short blade strapped to his left leg. As for the mood, it seems that the spirits are high. He leans closer and lower his voice alittle I think you should take heed to Embers suggestion. It seems suspicious that you the finest catch in town and just sit here ... he trails of and blink to them both and laughs. Then he turns abruptly and walks towards the bar, intent on fetching something more to drink. On the way he passes by Morde, asking if he would care to join him for an ale?

Embrianna's attempts at aquiring informations don't work very well. She just attracts a couple of stern looks from two cowboys, minding their own business at a table, and an offer of dancing from a very drunk and quite robust halforc. Grym and Thel have no success either: the bar's too crowded and the people around too drunk or surly to just get into small talk with either of you. Nobody else is able to get some useful insight or Slate, except for...

Sanzu:
A couple of elven brothers from the Awakened Moon Clan are here. They are young warriors, and seem too look at your civilized clothes and weapons with disdain. Nevertheless, they talk with you about the situation of the Tribe in the Salt Flats. They have met Slate and his men once, they say, while he was crossing their territory. He didn't exactly attack our caravan, but he got close, asked very nicely, and just grabbed our supplies. We weren't able to stop him or attack him: we just felt, I don't know, incapable of attacking him with our weapons. We were twice their numbers and he just grabbed our stuff and got away undisturbed. Talking Bones, our shaman, said that he tricked us with magic. If you want to meet the bastard, trust us, use a caravan as a bait. He attacked all the caravans in the territory in the last 10 days.

Mordechai:
Right beside the table with the two cowboys that gave Ember a nasty look, you see a woman with Eastern facial features dressed in dark robes. She is quite pretty, and has short black hair. When Ember turns her back, you see her moving her hands very quickly and locking her eyes on Ember. She keeps looking for a while, then scans the rest of the Saloon. You saw the movement of the hands, they reminded you of the ones that a spellcaster does, though you don't see any spell in effect nor are you able to identify the spell.

Thanks to Thels; Grym realized that he was internalizing his dark mood and needed to snap out of it. He shook his head, shot his pal a conspiratory wink and took his advice.

How about that dance Ember?

He rose form his seat and offered the lady his hand.

Mordechai wrote:

Yes. She goes by the name of Mizuki, and you know for sure that she is nothing to messed with. You heard someone said that she was part of a small gang of outlaws, though there is no bounty on her at the moment.

Moments later, she stands up and heads for the Saloon's exit, with a fast pace. You also see a small chain hanging from her back.

M H Zen Gunslinger Monk 4

Not to be messed with in what way? A witch? With guns? An ice queen?
What's her reputation?

Mord looks to see if anyone else gets up to go with her, then he'll look over at Thelnyss, and jerk his head in the direction of the door, and head that way, quickly.

Male Desert Elf Ranger (Guide) IV

Thel quickly downs his mug of ale and slips past Grym and Ember whispering We might have something ... if you hear gunshots or something from the outside, be prepared ..

Grym had to fight the urge to folow his pals into the night and thankfully took Ember's lead to stay towards the door on the dance floor.

Ive only ever danced around the bonfires of my mother's tribe and that typically only before a raid on another tribe. We'd be wearing the Death Skull paint and waving our axes in the air...I doubt that would go over so well here...hahaha...

Laughing quietly at the mental image she got of their group all painted up and dancing around a fire, Ember replies; "Well, we do have a sort of a raid planned. Assuming of course wecan find him. As for the others, it's easier for two to be quiet than a whole group. We can give them a head start and then casually head outside after this song and be ready to assist them if needed."

1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 The woman does not notice Thel and Mord. You are able to follow them outside: she goes past the still crowded Gambler's Alley, and the into the residential zone. Spot on on the DC

You see an hanging thread from wooden planks of the shed of this house, so you think that she's probably gone up the roof, though you don't hear any footsteps.
You also smell a faint, but very bad odour around: it nauseating, but not strong enough to make you puke your dinner yet. You are not able to determine its source from this position.

It is very dark around: there are no lights sources except a candle from a window on the opposite side of the road. It's all very quiet: people are either at the Saloon or asleep.

He seems to ponder somethign for a second, then motions to the roof, then motions to head back to the saloon...

Assuming the survival and perception DC was both 25, and that I didn't find anything

Thel follows the lady for a while, until she disappears. He didn't really see where she went, but it appears that Morde got an idea. Thel follows him back to the saloon and when they get back he'll has in a hushed and exited voice Well? What do you think?

Grym knew his two pals could take care of themselves so he agreed with Ember and they finished their dance before discreetly following after the two out the door. He looked both ways down the dusty road.
