Better now than when you're fighting for your life, right? You've got nowhere to go but up! ;)
I'm assuming that Caulder is no more than a casual acquaintance/co-worker of Esmerlda's and that he's not aware of her backstory with Lamm. He's not the touchy-feely-sharey type. So he assumes that her presence here is just bad luck for him and not connected with the Harrow card invitation at the moment.

Yup. I belive casual acquaintance/co-worker is an accurate description. Esmerelda is not forthcoming of the time with Lamm and also attempts to hide the scars that cover her everywhere except face and one arm. In that regard she is a "private person" which some may interpret as being cold or uncaring.
And remember that your racial language is free (so Ten and Esmerelda speak Common and Varisian for free, and Cauldran only gets Common - as Cheliax is a derivative of Taldan, which is just plain Common in the Inner Sea).
hehe - I was just looking over the character stats, perception doesn't seem to be this party's strong suite. Pagrip has a decent bonus, and I suspect Caulder will put a rank or two into Perception at level 2.
Pagrip will likely continue to boost his Perception every level. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a Wisdom bonus, so it's not as high as it might otherwise be. :)

That's what Inspiring Word is for: Look harder, moron! ;)
I'm getting a "Your browser doesn't support editing of this drawing" message, despite the fact that IE9 in Vista is listed as supported and that I've set my cookies and Java settings as specified.
Joana... can you try a real browser? ;) IEx claims a lot, but they are in fact quite poor at supporting standards, preferring to make their own standards a lot of the time. (Now you'll tell me that you're a IE developer... ohnoes!)
If all else fails, just let me know where you want to move to, and it'll happen :)
If I was an IE developer, I hope you wouldn't have laughed at me so much for the way I tried to fill in the character sheet on the website. There was a time I was actually near the cutting edge in regard to the internet, but that was 1994.
A scrawny dwarven infant maybe :P - the windows are relatively small, a child can squeeze through with relatively little trouble; an adult *could* do it, but it's considerably harder.
This is the kind of situation that leads me to believe that the opening encounter of Crimson Throne is the deadliest of any of the published APs. Good luck Caulder! :)
Make a Swim check once per round while you are in the water. Success means you may swim at up to half your speed (as a full-round action) or at a quarter of your speed (as a move action). If you fail by 4 or less, you make no progress. If you fail by 5 or more, you go underwater.
Caulder failed by more than 5, so is he actually underwater and holding his breath now or is the water too shallow here?
Think of Caulder doing a tip-toe in the water, standing on something uncertain, perhaps the remains of some ancient support beam. The water depth here is relatively shallow, but also very varied - in part due to urbanization, and in part due to natural rock formations. This leads to a relatively large diversity of sea-life that calls the craggy seafloor home, but also support a thriving ecology that includes larger predators. Like jigsaw sharks.
Indeed, here's hoping that Pagrip has something that will help. I suspect Ten and Esmerelda will be too busy to come to assist. They're still getting their own set of problems coming their way. :)
Ugh, noted an error on Ten's sheet. He doesn't yet qualify for Power Attack, so I've replaced it with Intimidating Prowess (which was going to be his L3 feat. Hope this won't cause problems - though we might all soon be too dead for it to matter.
I hate Swim checks. Unless the PC is specifically built for swimming, it's like saying, "You have a 50% chance of sitting around and doing absolutely nothing this round. Better luck next round." :P

Tell me about it. It's especially bad when the dice roller hates your character. :)

The dice roller hates everyone. Every now and then it throws you a glimmer of hope only to snatch it away again.
No class levels, lucky you :P - also, despite the pretty name, a jigsaw shark is just an ordinary shark. Also known as swimming death. 14 damage is not enough, unfortunately. We'll see what happens to it later :)
