GM Wolf |
If you have any questions ask them here.
Lets us leave off any questions that the characters have as answered after the sacrifice of blood. In your first post I would like you to describe how you find the box and message, emotion at finding it, if you sacrifice blood, then how you travel to the abandoned tower.
If you have any pressing questions that you need answered please ask them here.

Hi all just posting so I have this linked
I have left it open so if any player wants to be on the Silver Moon with Keeya, heading to the meeting place they can be.
:)
Serra the Blessed |
GM Wolf, A couple things before I start posting in the game thread:
Would you be ok with switching out the clunky Racial Heritage->Scaled Disciple combo for a custom feat that better describes Serra's Heritage? I've included an additional section in my background to better explain why his power appears in people who are otherwise unrelated to him.
Darataurax was once the pride of Apsu. A Gold Dragon so Ancient and Powerful many wondered if he wasn't divine himself. For many aeons Darataurax was a champion of good and order, and many came to revere him in much the same way the Emperyal Lords are worshipped. Darataurax still lived on Golarion, however, and the mortals who worshipped him eventually installed him as their god-king. For a millenium he ruled over the men, defending them and their kingdom from harm. They say familiarity breeds contempt, and this is no less true for a dragon. Ruling over the humans and other races, he began to see them as flawed. He began first to tighten protections for their own good, and as time passed the protections became restraints Instead of flawed he began to percieve them as inferior. Before long he was ruling over slaves he considered disposable and conquering nearby lands to include them within his domain. It was during this set of crusades against the surrounding kingdoms that he earned the title "The Burning Tyrant" from his subjects and foes alike.
Eventually his bretheren came to him to demand he cease his fall into evil. Incensed, Darataurax fell upon the delegation of gold dragons and slew them all. This act caught the eye of Apsu himself, and for it Darataurax was stripped of his ability to use divine magic. This reprimand from his god only further enraged the proud dragon, and in his hubris he decided that the proper course of action was to ascend to divinity himself so that he could depose Apsu for once and for all. In order to ascend he developed a ritual whereby he gathered all of his subjects into one place and sacrificed them to grant him apotheosis. When he completed the ritual, a great pain was felt across the heavens, and gods both good and evil took note of the atrocity.
With his newfound powers he arrived in Apsu's home realm to challenge his former deity. To Darataurax's surprise however, Apsu had already prepared for his arrival. Standing before the dragon, alongside Apsu, were Saranrae and Ragathiel, both prepared to aid him in the battle. Though the fight was long and painful, the three were able to best him eventually and restrain him with spells. The dragon raged against the magic binding him as Apsu began reciting a list of his crimes. When Darataurax only laughed and demanded that Apsu kill him and end it, the great platinum dragon shook his head and replied: "Your crimes are too great for such mercy. Only when you have attoned for all your sins will you be allowed to rest. You will be reborn in a mortal body and you will watch as they bear your burden and right your wrongs. They will have a portion of your power to call upon in their quest, and when they die they will be freed to rest, but you will pass on to another life and continue your penance. When the myriad of lives you live have worn down the stone that is your heart and you truly repent you will finally have peace. Furthermore, from this day forth you shall be without a name. None shall ever speak of Darataurax again, and even those who carry you through their lives shall never know who you were, only that your deeds were terrible and that justice was meted to you in this fashion."
The blood of Darartaurax the Burning Tyrant flows within your veins granting you a small measure of his power. That power comes at a cost, however, and legacy of the tyrant's deeds weigh heavily upon you, filling your dreams with terrible visions.
Prerequisites: You may only select this feat at 1st level.
Benefit: Choose one class that can spontaneously cast spells. If you have access to the Draconic Bloodline you may add levels of that class to your sorcerer level for determining your level for that bloodline. Additionally, you may qualify for the Dragon Disciple prestige class with your chosen class, and advance its spellcasting as you progress in the prestige class. Add the bonus spells gained from the blood of dragons ability to those you can cast as divine spells. Additionally, you suffer a -2 penalty against sleep effects, as well as dream-related effects whether awake or asleep.
Also, would this be acceptable for a 7th level power?
Wings of Fire (Su): At 7th level, as a standard action, you can manifest a pair of fiery wings that grant you a fly speed of 60 feet with average maneuverability. You can use these wings for 1 minute per day per oracle level. This duration does not need to be consecutive, but it must be spent in 1 minute increments. At 15th level the wings can be summoned as a swift action and used for as long as desired.
Flame Demonspawn |
I have left it open so if any player wants to be on the Silver Moon with Keeya, heading to the meeting place they can be.
I (and probably Serra) definitely plan to board one of the sky ships after I wrap up my business outside New Actuss (appointing a new general and lieutenant for the Army of Hope). Why not have it be the Silver Moon?
SkyCaptain Keeya Swift |
Silver wind, ye no problem, there is a fleet of Sky-Ships, they have been working to get the downed Home-Ship back in the air. In game time done a few days ago. So there will be a lot of Sky Falk there.
I'm going to say nothing happens with the knife for now have you to board how dos that sound.
If you say yes ill post a collecting you and we can interact from there with out spoilers
Also Sorry for the bad spelling and Grammer before hand, I'm Dyslexic and try me best on my Phone hehe. Ye Grammer is wrong I can tell.
L33Fish |
I'm going to say nothing happens with the knife for now have you to board how dos that sound.
If you say yes ill post a collecting you and we can interact from there with out spoilers
I'll be ready to board after I finish discussing our plans with Serra.
Serra, are you sure you need to have all of your feats sorted out before you start roleplaying?
Xenia Fabrenth |
Hey all. Looks like an interesting campaign. Sorry for the long intro post. Things just kept flowing. Still need to work on the Astral background part as I think I have totally forgotten about that.
Aref al-Arzani |
Just posted, I also realized that I never put together a campaign trait or handled HP
3d10 ⇒ (8, 9, 3) = 20
GM Wolf |
Sorry Serra, I did see the feat and forgot to say something about it. Yes the feat is fine.
Keep the idea for your fiery wings, HD rather than oracle levels.
Xenia, don't worry about the Astral background you will get it at the induction ceremony.
Aref that campaign trait won't fly, try again. Perhaps tie a profession skill with a skill.
SkyCaptain Keeya Swift |
Sara I would think that
Flame Demonspawn is not THE leader of the whole army of Hope. That would be a way hight NPC, but one of its its Commanders. I mean some 25,000 troops take way more than just one Commander.
What ya think Flame Demonspawn / GM
Serra the Blessed |
I was going by his background, at the very least he was instrumental in its organization. Also while we're lower level, Mythic would go a long way to seeing him further up the ranks.
Flame Demonspawn |
I originally envisioned that Ollysta Zadrian herself (leader of the Silver Crusade, Paladin 10) would be leading the army, but when Serra wrote into her background that I was leading it, I just rolled with it. I justify it because the government of Taldor would know Ollysta was a Paladin of Sarenrae (they outlawed her worship after incidents with the Cult of the Dawnflower), but they would never have heard of me. In general, I just say yes and add on to whatever the other players have in their background, whether that means ending up in command of an army or having to add a whole new city to the map of Golarion.
Serra the Blessed |
I can always tweak it to "one of the leaders", still got 15 minutes :p
Hymn |
I'll post later, was fixing profile and skill ranks.
@Keeya Hymn is on ship with you. Acting more like a bodyguard.
Serra the Blessed |
Changed it to "one of the leaders" just to make it more consistent. I think it's conceivable that Ollysta would be willing to share command given that Flame was responsible for sounding the warning. Also Mystmorning is a pretty strong sign that he's in Sarenrae's good graces.
SkyCaptain Keeya Swift |
I think the last leader works fine, they would have a changing command as the battle events unfolded, Leader fall or get hurt etc.
Would be cool if Flame took charge because of events.
"Trust me MEN! at my age I know how not to get us all killed, now follow me"
kind of Battle field moment and promotion.
That works for me Hymn, my father sent you to keep her safe.
Donovan Dyne |
Had a busy day and am playing catch-up. Are there any folk here who would know Donovan? Wolf, did you have a suggestion for that?
SkyCaptain Keeya Swift |
@Donovan would you like the sky ship to pick you up, they are flying over hills now, A camp fire in the dark
@Flame can you sword talk to magic daggers??
@Or Sarra how about a vison. hehe
GM Wolf |
Aref excellent choice though to add to it just a bit...
Your reach in academic circles means you have contacts in a surprising number of places. You gain a +1 trait bonus on all Knowledge (local) checks and Diplomacy checks. One of these skills (your choice) is always a class skill for you. Once per day you may take a 20 as if in a library or place of knowledge. It is easy for you to gain contacts in this circle of individuals and groups.
Donovan and Aref could have a connection through academics, he may have met Flame and/or Serra on their travels or when they have stopped in at one of your posts. Perhaps you helped them get out of a sticky situation, knowing they were innocent of the charges brought against them. Just suggestions! XD
I am good with how you have handled the leader part, Serra, Flame and Keeya.
Good Role Playing everyone, I love it, love it!
Are we ready for the ship to get to the tower or will you stop off somewhere first? Donovan could do a sending... We shall see what unfolds on his end and your responses first.
SkyCaptain Keeya Swift |
1:Wind Step (Su) 1d4+1 rounds 50'
A Air creature can move in Gaseous Form up to 10 feet per HD as a single move action. It may use this ability every 1d4+1 rounds. This Gaseous Form can only be used for a moment action. You can not attack or do any other action with it.
1: Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Sky-Sailor Air-Gun Repeating)
1: Airship Captain (Plane of Air)
Your years of piloting airships on the Plane of Air, dodging angry mephits and protecting your passengers from the depredations of capricious elementals, have taught you how to expertly command your vessel, as well as how to arrest yourself even in the midst of the most turbulent planar storms.
Benefit(s): You gain a +2 trait bonus on Wisdom checks to move in a plane with subjective directional gravity (see planar rules) and a +2 trait bonus on driving checks (see the vehicle rules).
2: Natural Born Sky-Sailor [for making list]
You were born aboard an Sky-ship high in the sky or down by the Sky-docks in a Hill city on an auspicious day. Old clouds and Sky-Harks nod knowingly and say that the gods of the Sky's, Sky Elements, and winds, has marked you for a greater destiny. You don't know anything about that, but you've always felt more at home in the sky than on land, and your keen eyes can easily pick out a Sky-craft on the distant horizon.
Your destiny calls you
Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus on Perception [this becomes a class skill for you]. and Profession (Sky-Sailor) checks. In addition, once per week you can reroll a Profession (Sky-Sailor) check and take the higher result (you must announce that you are using this ability before the results of the check are known). You can also roll Profession (Sky-Sailor) to gain knowledge about the air ways and air-craft that fly them.
Serra the Blessed |
The campaign trait is currently stock from Wrath of the Righteous, with Ragathiel's Nobility/Leadership domain chosen for Bless 1/day. I can reflavor it, or if desired I can go back to the drawing board.
As long as you can remember, you’ve had an unexplainable interest in one deity in particular. One of your parents may have been a priest of this deity, or you may have been an orphan raised by the church, but these alone cannot explain your deep connection to the faith. You’ve always felt calm and at ease in places holy to the deity, and often have
dreams about the god or goddess visiting you—most often in the form of a sacred animal or creature. Your faith is strong, even if you don’t happen to be a divine spellcaster—if you are a divine spellcaster, you should be a worshiper of this deity. You begin play with a silver holy symbol of your chosen deity for free. In addition, choose one domain associated with your chosen deity. You gain the use of that domain’s 1st-level domain spell as a spell-like ability usable once per day (CL equals your character level).
The blood of Darartaurax the Burning Tyrant, the fallen gold dragon, flows within your veins granting you a small measure of his power.
Cloak of Ash (Su): At 3rd level, you ignore concealment and Perception penalties in natural or magical smoke, fog, ash, and similar conditions. In addition, you can surround yourself with a cloak of swirling ash and cinders for a number of rounds per day equal to your class level. This power acts and deals damage as fire shield. It provides a 20% miss chance on attacks made against you and grants a bonus on Stealth checks equal to 1/2 your class level in smoke, or on volcanic terrain. You can use this ability once per day at 3rd level, and an additional time each three levels after that.
Pyroclasm (Sp): At 5th level, you can create a savage fire storm centered on you. This power acts as control winds, but in addition the entire area (not including the “eye” at the center of the storm) is affected as an ash storm and all in the area are exposed to extreme heat. You may use this ability once per day, and an additional time per day at 10th level.
Wings of Fire (Su): At 7th level, as a move action, you can manifest a pair of fiery wings that grant you a fly speed of 60 feet with average maneuverability. You can use these wings for 1 minute per day per character level. This duration does not need to be consecutive, but it must be spent in 1 minute increments. At 15th level the wings can be summoned as a swift action and used for as long as desired.
The new feat means Serra doesn't need Scion of Humanity anymore, so I've decided to keep her appearance as it is and just make her a pure Aasimar. I also added Radiant Charge as her 5th level feat.
Flame Demonspawn |
@Flame can you sword talk to magic daggers??
Mystmorning has the speech special quality, so she can talk to anything that can hear her. She only speaks Taldane currently, but will be gaining more languages as my mythic tier increases. Since most magic items are not intelligent, they would not be able to talk back to her, or to even listen to her.
Source: L33Fish, based on the Fey Foundling feat
Purifying Flaming Grasp (as Shocking Grasp) 1/day
Purifying Burning Hands 1/day
Purifying Fire Storm (as Ice Storm) 1/day
Donovan and Aref could have a connection through academics, he may have met Flame and/or Serra on their travels or when they have stopped in at one of your posts. Perhaps you helped them get out of a sticky situation, knowing they were innocent of the charges brought against them. Just suggestions! XD
I like the idea of my character not knowing Donovan, but both having fought and been wounded by the same tribe of ogres, Flame being physically wounded and Donnovan being wounded in pride. It gives us something to talk about if it ever comes up.
As far as Aref, I might have approached him at some point to see if he knew anything about the insignia from the dream. Of course, he probably would not have because that would have been over 5 years ago, before the Crimson Knights were founded.
Hymn |
Spell-Like Abilities(Tied to Race):
3/day—invisibility (self only), speak with animals. Caster level 12th. Once per day a janni can create food and water (caster level 7th) and can use ethereal jaunt (caster level 12th) for 1 hour. The save DCs are Charisma-based.
2/day-Change Size (Sp)
Elemental endurance, plane shift, resistance to fire 10, telepathy. 100 ft.
--------------------
Elemental Abilities:
Elemental Power:
Song of (Air, Fire, Water, Earth): Hymn gains the ability to channel elements while using a preform ability. It acts like a Clerics Channel ability but with variant channeling of those different types of damage. (3d6 damage) 5 times a day.
Was (Has not be approved)
A Humble Beginning(Campaign trait)- You grew up around those who were less fortunate. You either experienced what it was like first hand to struggle for your livelihood. Because of this you know what it is like to work hard, you gain a bonus of +2 when making profession checks. You also get a +1 to diplomacy check when dealing with a non - aristocrat.
Xenia Fabrenth |
I don't think I ever rolled for my hit points.
HP: 3d10 ⇒ (1, 5, 8) = 14
Reroll of 1: 1d10 ⇒ 9
Iron Liver
Due to a lucky constitution or frequent exposure, your body is resistant to poison, including alcohol and drugs.
Benefit: You gain a +2 trait bonus on Fortitude saves against poison and drugs, and a +4 trait bonus on Fortitude saves to avoid the effects of alcohol.
--> Xenia lived on a anti-slaver ship. On more than a few occasions, those she battled used poisons, and we all know how sailors celebrate once the battle is won.
------
Anatomist
You have studied the workings of anatomy, either as a student at university or as an apprentice mortician or necromancer. You know where to aim your blows to strike vital organs.
--> Xenia is an expert with her rapier. She knows how to make sure that when she finds a chink in the enemy's armor, the blow maximizes damage dealt.
Benefit: You gain a +1 trait bonus on all rolls made to confirm critical hits.
------
Campaign Trait
Slave Freer renamed from Trap Finder
Fighting against slavers and their ships has resulted in many chained prisoners and locked strong boxes. Xenia has become one of the crew of the Gray Ghost's experts at unlocking and disabling the various traps and locks that are frequently found on those ships plying in the trade of intelligent life.
Benefit(s): You gain a +1 trait bonus on Disable Device checks, and that skill is always a class skill for you. In addition, you can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps, like a rogue.
Level 1 - Swim Speed = 1/2 land speed, increases at level 7, see Fluid Travel below
Level 2 - Water Lung <-- only usable on self (effectively replaced with Fluid Travel at level 7, but still useful to sleep beneath the water)
Level 3 - Icy Skin as the Oracle Revelation -- Resist Cold 5 - increases to 10 @ level 5, 20 @ level 11, Immune @ level 17
Level 4 - Fluid Travel as Oracle Revelation <-- fluid travel would effectively replace/improve on the level 1 and 2 abilities
Level 5 - Cast Ice Spears - 1/day per 4 levels <-- open to other suggestions on this and future abilities. Several abilities for Waves Oracle, Aquatic Bloodline, and Aquatic Druid archetype all work well with the water theme
-- please let me know if these need any changes. Several were slightly altered from before to fit them as extraordinary and supernatural abilities instead of spells/spell-like abilities
SkyCaptain Keeya Swift |
Why do others have
Campaign/Elemental Abilities in levels??
I thought we had just one.
A trait and I was given a feat for making a list.
did I miss something?
Serra the Blessed |
There weren't any hard and fast rules for the elemental abilities, so I think that's why they're all over the place. I'm pretty sure GM Wolf's goal now is to make sure that we all have roughly equal powers. Those who are behind will get a little somethin' extra to balance it out.
Flame Demonspawn |
So I believe that we get some elemental abilities that scale with level along with one "ghostwalking" ability. I wasn't sure how to mechanically write up the ghostwalking thing so I simply left it as a story tool and only use it extremely sparingly.
Aref al-Arzani |
Circumstantial Swordplay: Numerical bonuses from positioning in combat are increased by 1 (Flanking, cover, higher ground)
3rd:
Clever Strike: Stunning fist as a bonus feat, can be used with manufactured weapons as long as Aref has identified the target with a knowledge check, save DC is intelligence based.
5th:
Pursuit of Knowledge: Skill Focus as a bonus feat, target skill can be changed once a day, must be an intelligence-based skill
Xenia Fabrenth |
I really do not know exactly what is expected for the elemental/campaign abilities. I just tried to build ones that would work with my background. It gets more difficult going forward (Ice Wall? Raise Water?) as some of the spells are fairly powerful.
I started with an idea, and then realized that for most of the elemental things, there were great templates already. Oracle Revelations (Waves, Stone, Fire, Wind), Sorcerer Bloodlines (Elemental, Aquatic, etc), Druid Archetypes (Desert, Aquatic, Tempest, Cave), Cleric Domains, Witch Hexes (Water Lung), etc.
I figured that since many of these are available as feats via Extra Revelation, etc., that they are relatively balanced and already fairly well tested. Thus, I sort of began to just pick and choose the abilities from these pre-made sources.
Serra the Blessed |
Xenia: That's what I did basically. I grabbed the Boreal bloodline and reflavored it to fire and ash. Then I grabbed the flame wings from the oracle flame mystery because it works really well for a worshipper for Ragathiel who also has fire-based abilities. GM Wolf then made some decisions as to how often and at what levels the abilities would be available, and Voila!
GM Wolf |
Serra I want you to have a level one ability that is the genesis of your abilities. Perhaps a burning hands with ash.
Flame since your abilities are so focused basically doing the same thing I want you to be able to do it more. Shocking hands equal to level, and burning hands 3/ day.
For background that makes sense between Aref and you.
Hymn, let's make all the abilities based off of your HD, so only a CL of 6. A humble beginning is approved.
GM Wolf |
Xenia, slave freer is accepted. Good to have disarm traps in the group and it makes sense! Abilities look good, let's make fluid travel at level 7 and nothing at 4th level. Or scratch offensive abilities and make fluid travel at 5th level.
Except for Hymn everyone should have at least 3 special abilities that are tied to a certain domain, these should be in addition to class abilities. Serra is correct I am trying to get everyone up to the same level in the abilities.
Keeya, do you want to focus on movement or diversify into buffs and or attacks?
Xenia just has support abilities and gets constant abilities instead of times per day.
Xenia Fabrenth |
Sounds good. I will drop the level 5 spell, it felt sort of strange anyway. Going forward, I see something akin to Freedom of Motion (continuous) when in any liquid to eliminate any water related penalties. Not sure what else. I like the Blizzard and Fluid Nature revelations as well, both of which seem to work well with the character.
Hymn |
Serra I want you to have a level one ability that is the genesis of your abilities. Perhaps a burning hands with ash.
Flame since your abilities are so focused basically doing the same thing I want you to be able to do it more. Shocking hands equal to level, and burning hands 3/ day.
For background that makes sense between Aref and you.
Hymn, let's make all the abilities based off of your HD, so only a CL of 6. A humble beginning is approved.
Sounds good, I'll change it!
GM Wolf |
Ghost walking abilities:
Flame becomes a literal flame
Serra uses Astral form
Xenia does not have one yet.
Donovan?
Keeya?
Aref does not have one yet
Hymn has astral travel.
Ghost walking is like Flame said, more of a story tool as opposed to mechanical ability. If anything it will be used as scouting, special instances, and very infrequently. It can be very draining.
Aref, I thought those were your mythic abilities. I really did not want the special abilities to tie in and support normal class abilities. Got any more flashy ideas? Ghosts and spirits perhaps, especially with those archeology digs? Domain of knowledge?
Only 2 traits and an approved campaign trait.
I am looking for input from everyone on what abilities seem to be weaker and need some boosts, otherwise things will for the most part stay as they are presently, think of it as constructive critisism or a chance to voice a complaint that someone is stronger than me, I like the first view better. XD
Serra the Blessed |
This may be a bit out there, and perhaps would be worth trading extra uses of the higher level abilities. However, I've been wanting to put a bit more Ragathiel flavor in Serra's development, and this idea really struck me as cool:
By channeling her innate connection to fire and focusing on her faith in the Lord of Chivalry and Vengeance, Serra can call forth a flame blade in the shape of Ragathiel's blade.
Effect: As flame blade but it looks like a Bastard Sword instead of a Scimitar. May be used for 1 min. per character level per day. The time does not need to be used all at once, but it must be used in one minute increments.
Upgrade: By taking Legendary Item (Ragathiel's Judgement) the blade becomes a blade of solid elemental fire. In doing so the weapon no longer functions as flame blade, but can be enchanted as a normal weapon (with normal costs), except it gains the burning property for free. The weapon can be dismissed as a free action and summoned as if drawing a weapon.
A more mundane idea based on the ash/fire theme:
Constant endure elements but only for heat, also includes the ability to breathe normally in smoke/ash.
Xenia Fabrenth |
I will be out of town this weekend at a Con in Nashua, New Hampshire. If anyone is going to be there, let me know. Posting will be very light, and possibly nonexistent between Thursday afternoon and Sunday evening.
Donovan Dyne |
Here's the abilities I think work best for Donovan. Input welcome.
Reward and Punishment - Three times per day, you may cast the Cure or Inflict Wounds spell equivalent to your highest spell level as a ranged touch spell. This is a spell-like-ability. (scaled with level due to using highest spell level, so don't think it needs other scaling)
Balance the Scales - No penalty to channeling with negative energy. (this pairs with the "balanced Channeler" feat and removes the negative aspect of it. Only useful in light of having taken a feat. Maybe underpowered compared to other people's abilities? Suggestions)
All Those Before Me - Once per day, with the use of a Channel Energy to affect all visible creatures instead of all creatures within a range. May exclude creatures as normal with Selective Channeling.
(Suggested by GM Wolf) Law Domain - once per week draw Abadar's wrath upon those within sight, if innocent healed, if guilty harmed.
Remind me about this feat later, likely after judging a group individually fairly.
The Ghost-Walking thing: I put a line in Donovan's background about having received the ability to project himself as a positive-energy spirit (kinda like a ghost).
Serra the Blessed |
In regards to Donovan's pickup: In theory the boat could still pick him up since the Captain of the Crimson Knights can converse with us instantaneously. In fact I think Flame also asked how many others there were. In answering, the Captain might give directions to take a detour to pick him up.
