Basically, you use it as a material component in the spell, which means it gets consumed. In exchange, any creature that is damaged by the spell catches fire, just like you had hit them with alchemists fire. Scorching ray can also use it as a focus which does not consume it and adds +1 to the touch attack to hit your target. However, you cannot do both at once. Flaming sphere only has the catch on fire option, but of course it will continue to have that effect for the duration.

DM, I'll be away from my computer until Monday afternoon. Please run Leonar as needed. He plans on using his lightning bolts and flying over the scene, hopefully causing the goblins to have no idea where the bolts are coming from.

Safe to say any wands available would have to be bought in a full increment of 50 charges?
Helaku, I've just realized I never properly responded to your question. The rulebook states that wands always have 50 charges when created; for simplicity's sake, I'd suggest keeping with the rules as stated.
Theoretically, looking at the creation formula it looked like the 375gp base cost covers the cost of the material components. So, if you divide that by 50, you might be able to work out how much it would be for an under-charged wand. But, if you are wanting to do that, then perhaps some scrolls or potions might do the trick just as well.
@Leonar: Thanks for letting me know, have got your action if we need to NPC you. Will see you when you return.

The Serpent's Skull campaign I GM on the site will soon be completing Part 1 of the adventure path, and we will be looking to recruit a couple more players before moving on to Part 2. A few of you are already playing in that game, but if anyone else would like to join us then don't hesitate to get in touch, either here on the thread or by PM.
Here is the url for the thread: CrazyHedgehog's Serpent Skull
Come explore the jungles of the Mwangi Expanse! Or perhaps you'd like to try one of the new classes being playtested for the updoming Advanced Classes Guide. Or even, try out one of Dreamscarred Press' psionic classes, updated for Pathfinder and with new core classes. I've not had an opportunity to play one, but I think the aegis and marksman classes look pretty cool, even if psionics isn't your thing.

I think this only applies to Aleste since everyone else here is in the Serpent Skull game, but I am starting a Reign of Winter game with PCs from the SS game and here. I have a spot open, so if you are interested, Aleste, come on over.

Might be a wee temporary break in the game - came back from our trip to find phone and internet seem to have packed in. I'll try to update during my lunch breaks at work if I can, but today I spent the whole hour catching up on RL stuff. Just temporary, but might struggle to get things sorted before the end of the week. Will keep you updated, watch this space.

Went on to the campaign thread to deduct the money for your purchases. I'm not sure what's on there currently is correct, as you sold most of the loot when you returned to Drellin's Ferry apart from some items that you kept. I'll go back and update the thread tomorrow, but you should still have the funds as you each received 2,842gp as your share of the loot (in addition to whatever items you each kept), and I don't think anyone's bought gear between then and now.
Helaku |
I don't think I've spent any of that. Not sure how much ability we have to spend in a town like Drellin's Ferry either - especially the war-torn Drellin's Ferry.
My gear value still looks like its right around 10.500 gp which I think is where we started.
CrazyHedgehog |
The loot you brought back to Drellin's Ferry that you found at Vraath Keep and the bridge you mostly sold for cash. That gave you enough for a share of 2,842gp each. Most of the magic items were either claimed by certain characters or you've pooled them together - items that you have claimed I'll keep on the treasure spoilers on the campaign thread for another week or so to give you time to copy it to your character sheets if you haven't already done so. After that, I'll probably remove them, so that it doesn't confuse everyone.
To be honest, you haven't really had an opportunity to spend your gold, so if you are wanting to make purchases, go for it. Drellin's Ferry is listed as having a 800 gold piece limit and 46,000gp in assets, but I wouldn't let that be a hindrance. There are several mid-level spellcasters that items could be bought from, and the town is turned a bit upside-down with the evacuation.
Let me know if you have any last minute purchases or things your character wants to do before leaving Drellin's Ferry, I'll post an update tomorrow which should see you on the road north, to follow up rumours of this blockade.

Hey Aleste, just been going through the threads and was surprised to see I hadn't replied to your query. That's no problem; as you ask around Drellin's Ferry before clearing out, it turns out that Sertieren the Wise, the main local arcanist does indeed have an arrow of dragon slaying. A relic of an adventuring companion from his youth, who was a famed ranger and monster hunter long ago. The aged halfling spellcaster is willing to part with the treasured item, and says as he takes your cash that he will use it to craft new items to help your cause.
And Leonar - Restoration, could be useful.
