RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

so, i know it's getting close to the deadline but I'm really feeling like Micah's current background/personality isn't heroic enough for the feel you're looking for... I think I may completely rework him. Today is busy but I think I can put a good amount of time into him before the end of the week.

what was the final ruling on the squire feat? it literally becomes leadership at 7th level so really it just lets you spend your 5th level feat instead of your 7th level feat?

Liberty's Edge

No Squire feat. Sorry.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

What about the recruits feat?

Liberty's Edge

No, sorry.
Clue: Take Leadership as your level 7 feat. Don't worry, be happy.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

I know, I just had an idea for an interesting knight that would work best with variant multiclassing (which I can't use without my 7th level feat). I'll keep working.

Liberty's Edge

No Variant multiclassing either, even if you had the feat... :P

Amavin Zephyra
- So Amavin "happened" to appear in the forest? Nice! Ok, the forest in question is in Northern Pitax. She has not been there in a long time. Sounds good?
- As a baby she was dressed in a very strange and wonderful fabric, that the people that saw it had never seen before or after, of a color they couldn't describe, and that they swear "disappeared little by little", until nothing of it remain. And also a ring hung from her ring. A yellow crystalline ring that seems to have a strand of bright red hair or thread inside.
- Will she wear it, or keep it hanging.
- Yes, is magical, but she has never been able to discern the powers of the ring, if any. Maybe the hair or thread belonged to a magical creature? One of her real parents?
- What about her adoptive parents? Where are they?
- Who is her nemesis? Want me to jump in there? Any ideas?
- Any boyfriends?
- We need to talk about her opinions on Pitax. Where have her adventures taken place? Brevoy? Pitax? Other places? The Stolen Lands are too wild for her to take them, until now.
- Strength 8... Ummm. Ok. But it will be a problem now and then, you know?
- What is her ethnicity? Kellid? Ulfen? Chellaxian?

Ishana Tamanna
- A Callistrian! Nice!
- Did she ever "worked" at a Calliestrian temple?
- Do you mind having a strangled daughter? Do you mind the strangled daughter is another character?
- What is her Foeslayer "target"? Why?
- Where is she from?

For both:
- What are their intentions for the Stolen Lands? What do they think of Brevoy's "push" into the area?

Welcome to the Campaign Giga Ninja!

I must say that I did enjoy creating this character and I hope that I am part of the final group.

Looking great!

But I need your Evoker Cohort fleshed out too!

I loved doing this and AM THINKING of doing an entirely different group if you don't mind ?

Liberty's Edge

Let us work on Axhammer and Alexander first... :O

Should have the evoker done this evening

Corsario wrote:

I thought you liked the ideas I had for those two

Liberty's Edge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I mean... let me check them first. I am sure I will ask some changes, to allow me to "insert" some plot hooks.

Sovereign Court

I noticed I never spent all my gold...hmmmm

Mythril Hellknight Fullplate, and +2 charisma headband eats away at a large bit,
Can I spend the other 3k on wands and other stuff for the level 1's?

I'd suggest purchasing them on yourself, at least at start. If you distribute them post-start ... ;)

Liberty's Edge

Do not "equip" the followers, as they won't "use" the stuff anyway. Remember, they are RP only.

You can always have the gold "on hand", valuables, or invested in business.

A note to everybody. You will be required to attend "elegant" functions, so having some sets of clothing, some jewelry, or magic ways of procuring it would be nice.

Sovereign Court

Would formal armor/nice looking armor count?

Try Sleeves of Many Garments if your short on gold. Hat of Disguise has limitless applications if your tricky and have more gold. ;)

I'd also suggest specifying a certain amount of jewelry being purchased, e.g. "50 gp worth of jewelry" or some such. Sleeves of many garments does not say it adds jewelry.

Sovereign Court

I think I am going to put down 1k on ornamentation, and count that good to go, as Knights sometimes wore full armor, and sometimes wore hose and tunic. Thats really expensive clothes :P

Liberty's Edge

Yes, but there are places (concerts, balls) where an armor would be a "faux-pas".

Sovereign Court

Would the special armor that is actually the ceremonial armor, kinda like dress blues, be ok?

Liberty's Edge

Look it like this.
Only one set of clothing? Really?

At the start of the adventure you will be invited to a ceremony, and to a "formal party". In that party you are expected to assist unarmored and unarmed.

And by that they don't mean naked.

I'm going to back out once again. Too much stuff going on in life - I can't even handle my own game I'm GMing. Good luck.

Liberty's Edge

Sorry to hear that. Hope things ease up.

Dagit Downhill
- Dagit is (was) part of the Golka Dwarves, a clan that lived alongside the Garess family for hundreds or years. But on the Vanishing, together with all the Rogarvia Brevoy royal family (descendents of Choral the Conqueror) all the Golka Dwarves, together with Howlan Garess, heir to the Garess family, also disappear without a trace. Except for Dagit and Toval Golka, son of the Golka dwarves chief and now adopted heir to the Garess lands.
- What is Dagit opinion of the Garess?
- Of the Surtovas that "took" the throne after the Vanishing?
- Why he wasn't with the other dwarves on that fateful day?
- Was he with Toval Gorka?
- What does he thinks of Toval, and the fact he is now "heir" to all of the Garess lands?
- Why he didn't stayed on the Garess lands? Why don't come back now?
- What he wants to do in the Stolen Lands?

Selinah
- How did she got to the dwarves? What about that the same day of the Vanishing, looking for "survivors" of the Golka Dwarves, they found only an abandoned baby, some 3 or 4 years old? That means that 11 years later Selinah is 14 or 15... you think.
- She has always been deaf. At least that she remembers. No orcs involved, that she is aware of.
- When they found her she was covered with an strange cloth, of a marvelous and indescribable color, that disappeared after a few days. No one that you know has seen something like it before or after. And a crystalline ring, hanging from her neck, of smoky color, with a strand of hair or thread inside it, or bright red color. It is magical (in a very small amount) but no one has ever been able to identify the source, purpose or school of it.
- Does she wears the ring? On her hand? Hang from her neck? Did she store it away? Where?
Sounds good?

Welcome to the game William!

Sovereign Court

I mean, I guess at he would have like 4 sets of formal clothes, like i had in the miltary, but i can't see having anymore.

I never really ever wore 2 of them

I don't think I'm going to get Trawets Aarock finished in time for this. I work today and tomorrow and if my days off are any indicator I won't get much done on Sunday. We'll see if I can get anything done after work.

Liberty's Edge

I hope you can, Trawets.

Don't despair Axhammer, going there...

Would you allow the faith magic wizard discovery?

Liberty's Edge

If your Wizard is really into religion, yes.
And I mean REALLY into it.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Oh, he's into it...

Finished up Sacha's crunch at long last, gear shopping is a little slice of hell. Added a bit of background for her as well. Will keep adding stuff and fluff until the deadline, just giving a little update. I still have followers I can work on. ;)

P.S. My wizard is into religion, on a whole other level. xP

You said inner sea magic is allowed... Can I take eclectic training as a feat? IIRC it doesn't normally cost a feat but since we would have to sort of hand wave the exams and earning the fame spending a feat seems like a way to balance that maybe?

(I'm only asking about eclectic training, not the hungry more powerful esoteric training)

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Lol- I just realized that "hugely" got autocorrected to 'hungry' in my last post.

Aolis- I almost made a magaambyan arcanist; glad I didn't now (although I think mine is more into religion than yours...)

Glad cause they don't work with your idea or because it would be a double up on the submission list? I always liked the class but rarely find it good for most settings. This one of the few exceptions mind you.

Aolis collectively worships multiple gods of magic. His stronghold feat is a reflection of one of his goals to create a temple/base for an order that will reflect that philosophy as well. It's tied into his approach to spellcasting too. So maybe more philosophical then religious if you want to get technical. :)

Go to Jasrella Domas.

Lord Christian D'Elagante and cohort are ready...I think

Never heard from it before.

No, sorry.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

No problem, I knew it was a long shot. So, I'm making Micah my cohort and he's going to be some kind of bard (magician, maybe... I think that's from a valid source?) for my main I'm going to use Elliomander Ostarion, a servant of Nethys (mostly a wizard).

Good morning everyone, I know I’m a bit late but I would like to join your adventure as Ignatius Digenes Akritas the half-orc paladin of Iomedae, along with his cohort Omadurk the half-orc Oracle.

Biography Ignatius:
From his birth Ignatius lived in a violent world, the son of a kidnapped noblewoman and the warchief of a small orc band residing in Iobaria. According to orc custom he stood for himself from his first full moon onwards spending most of his time as a child fighting and hiding from larger, stronger and more aggressive full blood orcs. While his position as the son of the warchief spared him from death, he received no help or love from his remaining parent only the cold disdain any orc has for a half blood. With no future ahead and before his tenth year ceremony, he took his father´s large greataxe and his mother´s ring, only memento of the woman he would never know, and left under the mantle of night. Wandering for the next couple years he found humans could be as cruel as orcs, refusing entrance to cities and towns or attacking him right away. By the time Elijah an old paladin found him, he was famelic and lost. Offering a helping hand, he introduced him into his faith to Iomedae, and after several years traveling together guided him to the monastery were Ignatius would train as a paladin and receive the name he used from that day on. While he remained in a cloistered life studying religion, the old paladin left for a faraway land to the west, were he eventually met his demise in a small coastal city, leaving as parting gift the reforged axe of his father, removing the orcish ornaments and accessories in place for a dark yellow solar handle and a steel blade with the words “redeemer” carved on both sides, one in common and another in orc. As a full fletched paladin he proved his mettle both in combat and as a peacekeeper for several years, often helping others redeem their crimes and find a better life in faith. Eventually his superiors found righteousness in his acts and decided to give his beliefs a chance, starting an initiative to send redeemed criminals along with him into an expedition to the River Lands, were they could have a new beginning.

Description Ignatius:
The paladin opened the large monastery door slowly pushing the large carvings in the stone; he quietly stepped into the hall room and knelt in its center, his ornate plate armor had clearly seen better years, yet despite the many scars from previous crusades, it was polished and well oiled, a griffon standing sideways decorated the chest plate, in his back a large two handed axe lay waiting for battle, eager to prove its use, the word “Redeemer” inscribed to its grey blade, he began uttering a prayer to Iomedae The prayer of duty thought the cardinal standing in the podium. As the paladin finished speaking he removed his helm to address his superior, revealing his orc-ish features, he had grayish skin and a short military haircut, his inferior canines protruded out of his mouth roughly to the height of this nose and his ears were slightly pointy, a small faded scar on his left temple and a larger one on the right side of his forehead, with marks of stitching. Despite his fierce features he had a calm expression. Digenes Spoke the cardinal, in fealty of our goddess Iomedae, the council has declared that you along with father Emillio are to accompany the penitent looking for a new start into the Riverlands, you have selected those criminals willing to embrace our faith and seek a better life, and it will be you who guides them, while serving as our militant arm in the region. You are to report to His Majesty Rupert Surtova the first and Lord Mayor Ioseph Sellemius at the City Hall, tomorrow at first light, were you will be informed of further details.
As of this moment you will be known in our order as Iacobus Digenes Akritas, may Iomedae´s Justice accompany you into those dark lands champion

Biography Omadurk (Cohort):
The Skull-Crakers Clan was little more than a minor faction in the Hold of Belkzen, after decades of dominance by larger clans, their young warchief led them east into human territory, in a migration that took them through strange lands, not few of their number were lost in the journey, but those that arrived to the Riverlands found it perfect for a small raiding party like them, for a time thing looked good, but as their fame grew wider, larger defenses were set and larger forces hunted them out. And so on one spring an old human thief, proposed them a deal, in exchange for free looting of the bodies left behind, he offered the orc warchief his daughter. Despite his initial arrogance, the orc remembered successful clans with half-orcs as advisors or mages, and decided to take the offer, of course after taking the woman he killed the old man and his band, as any decent orc would. Years later though, with his mother´s cunning and his father’s tenacity, the half-blood grew strong and with a sharp mind, quickly learned how to fight while outmaneuvering defenders, deal with his fellow clan members and support them through magic, yet, the orc warchief got more than he wanted, for his son while loyal, had a disdain for his lifestyle, often solving combats by forcing the enemy to run rather than killing them, to make matters worse he was cursed, strange things happened around him, and from time to time he would become unresponsive, holding still for hours or speaking to unknown shadows. While initially doubting to preserve his son´s life, his human mate advised patience, and in time, proved correct. Litle after these strange events began the young half-blood became a better advisor, learning old orc tactics from tin air, and a better warrior, learning to control his opponents with strange summoned weapons, mostly a spear. Things were going better, until the crusaders arrived, warriors of Iomedae hunting the most successful orc war band in the region, the paladins and clerics stroke furiously at their base camp, only a few orc managed to fall back into the warchief tent to make a last stand: One by one the orcs fell to the holy warriors, until the one leading the charge strode forward into the warboss swinging his large axe, the duel was swift, his father lay almost kneeled holding his footing with his own axe, yet before the final blow his mother stepped from the shadows, wounding the paladin´s face and removing his helmet with a shortsword, as he impaled her with his axe, the warchief furiously threw at the warrior, falling to the same blade. The battle was over and the crusaders had taken a captive, a half-orc who surrendered and only by his equal´s plea was not killed. Imprisoned he sought atonement for the life’s he had taken, the life’s he hadn’t avenged and the life he still had ahead of him.

Description Omadurk:
Brother-paladin, it is not the time for your usual visit to the penitent wing, what has brought you here?
Stepping over the large wooden door to the main hall, the greenish half-orc stared at his peer from beneath the hood of his humble grey tunic, dressed in more formal white paladin robes the slightly larger half-orc was sitting at the table were the penitent ate.
I have been authorized to take dozen of the penitent criminals in an expedition to fund a new kingdom, giving them a clean start, and I want you to come with me, I have arraigned for a set of amour and several weapons to be taken out of the armory, they will be handed over to you shortly before we depart, should you chose to follow me.
With this last sentence the paladin looked to the confused figure on the door, black beard covered most of his face and sideburns, while a small steel ring hanged from his collumela.
Why? Said gravely the grey figure in orc language I’m the most dangerous of the prisoners in this monastery, is it not foolish to take me with such little guard and even worse, armed…
Unmoved the other half-orc replied in the same language You were never the bloodthirsty type Omarduk, should you wish it, you could have assaulted me or attempted to escape several times before, I believe you truly wish to start anew, however you do have the most combat experience of the penitent, another reason to take you, were we are going, we will need someone capable of holding his own, someone I can trust.
The penitent nodded, and sat next to the paladin. Where is this “expedition” taking us?
A place you know well, your old territory, the Riverlands.
With a grunt, the greenish half-orc frowned while projecting forward his four canines, clearly uncomfortable with the answer, as the old scar covering the right side of his face burned again.
Of all places…fine, if this is the chance fate grants me, then I will follow you in this endeavor, when do we leave?
