Sarcon approaches the hudled mass and speaks to the bloody one.
"so what's going on over here? I need you to come with me, I need assistance with the offering."


The women all scream a bit, but then one of them finds words. "Who are you? Wha-what are you doing?" the woman answers, shocked.

Crystal will reenter the sanctuary, eyes down, oblivious to the goings-on outside. She will approach the altar, murmuring a short prayer to Asmodeus. She will thoroughly search the offering already on the alter, taking care to avoid burns.

How is the offering burning? Is there a wood fire underneath?


Crystal finds no apparent source of heat, much to her puzzlement.

If that proves futile, she will prostrate herself and look under the table.

"I need your help, I'm looking for the girl that ran from the temple with the fancy knife. I would like to speak with her."

Sarcon looks around at the other women as he speaks, hoping one of them knows where the girl is.


Everyone but Sarcon:
Crystal shoots a bolt of fire at the corpse, causing a sharp sizzle to rise from the flesh. After a moment, the corpse vanishes in wisps of light.

Sarcon:
The woman shudders. "Yes, it was me. What do you want? What happened to you? What did you do?" she inquires. Around that time, a man approaches. "Are you the one that told Marquin about the paladins? We don't see anyone approaching from the treetops. What's the meaning of this? Are you just here to frighten our women?!" he says angrily.

"I want you to help us in the tent, i can't figure out how to open the chamber inside the statue. i thought the knife might have been a key."

Sarcon looks at the newly arrived man and listens to his accusations, his eyes widen at the mention of paladins.

"Paladins?! PALADINS?! Where? It's been days sense i last killed anyone. My blade thirsts, and my belly craves the hearts of righteous fools"


Sarcon:
The man looks confused, then wanders off.
"We are not to open the Wanderer's chamber. This dagger is of no consequence--" she says, displaying the dagger. "-we all carry them."

"well boo! now I'm very upset! no paladins to fight! no mysterious person to talk too. When you say you shouldn't open the chamber, does that mean you know how?


Sarcon:
"Know how? I never thought about it. I suppose you'd knock and ask him to let you in. But anyway it's hardly a large chamber, only a prayer closet. And besides that, he would surely strike you down for such insolence."

Sarcon heads back into the tent to knock on A door.

Her blue eyes squint in the sudden motes of light, silently thankful she did not have to get on her hands and knees. She inspects the table, looking for anything the offering might have left behind.

Fate, arms folded as usual, taps her fingers against her arms. The dull clanks are quiet, but quickly grow in annoyance. "Ah, is your devil god finally appeased vith the offering?"

Victor von Ravenport, having clearly blundered off for a minute or two, once more returns to his conscious state. After having observed his companions actions and their consequent failure, he proceeds to fold out a humongous package from his traveling satchel. “You will have to pardon this crude show of force, however, where wit has failed, I suspect that brute strength shall succeed. The key might as well be on this worshipper’s person. Therefor” Victor pulls out a large metal crowbar and his own spell pouch. “I suggest we blow it down. Now, where is Sarcon? I am going to increase his size a bit. If the door is too solid, then he can he'll be able step on the building after this little concoction.”

Sarcon arrives back in the tent. He approaches the statue and knocks on the door.
"Hello, the villigers said a group of clerics are headed into town, so you might want to get on that."

Victor turns his head, still holding the crowbar in his graying grasp and only then he realizes that Sarcon is nowhere to be found. He lets out an agitated groan and throws up his hands in utter defeat, this expression only seems to last for a few seconds as his right hand quietly reaches up for his robe's inner pocket and his hand rummages around for another second in the inner folds. The next draw of his hand reveals a golden key, adorned with arcane marks and a iron skull on the key's end. He couches besides the lock and guides the strange item into the lock and fiddles around with it for a moment.

Perception Check on the door: 1d20 ⇒ 2

Masterwork Skeleton Key: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22

Victor seems to struggle with even locating the keyhole, his aging eyes and the poor light hindering him for a while. After having spewed a long range of colorful oaths and swears at the door, he does, however, at last spot it.


Victor finds that the key does not fit well into the hole, as it is more of a shaped depression than an actual keyhole.

Crystal finds nothing left behind from the offering.

Crystal shrugs and presses her thumb into the opening (assuming it's about the right size).


The opening, she finds, is more perhaps the size and approximate shape of a walnut or other such article.

Crystal will pull out her dagger, prick her thumb, then put the pommel of the weapon in the indentation.


Crystal's interesting attempt appears to have no effect.

"Hmmmmm...." The priestess is baffled. Relentless, she regroups, inspecting things again.

What's the table made out of? The posts? Is the table clear and empty right now?


The table is stone, probably granite, with black iron framing. The posts are also black iron. The table is clear and empty at the moment.

Responding to Fate, she replies "I'm not sure. It seems as though the sacrifice was accepted, but I can not be sure. Any thoughts?"

Seeing Sarcon rush in, her brow furrows again (she'll have a permanent crease soon, she was sure). "What is going on out there?"

Crystal puts her hand on the table, feeling for heat.

"Have you tried the foot of your holy symbol, Miss Shalhoume? That could be the "key" we're required to use."

Crystal's holy symbol does not fit, nor does it cause any noticeable reaction.

Sarcon climbs onto the table and takes a nap.


The table was warm, as one might expect, but not harmful to the touch.

Sarcon lies on the table and begins to cook.

Victor supplies Sarcon with a suitable crowbar and points him towards the locked door. "My patience is slowly running out. Let us see if an even bigger orc could handle this little issue.

He repositions himself away from the door and Sarcon and raises his hands, the air slowly gets filled with arcane incensations and clear lines of light blue flicker in and out of existence.

Enlarge Person:

This spell causes instant growth of a humanoid creature, doubling its height and multiplying its weight by 8. This increase changes the creature's size category to the next larger one. The target gains a +2 size bonus to Strength, a –2 size penalty to Dexterity (to a minimum of 1), and a –1 penalty on attack rolls and AC due to its increased size.

"Now, would you kindly wreck that door down?"

Crystal will exit the building, both to not be a part of whatever it is her comrades are about to attempt, and to see what is going on outside.


Crystal:
Some cultists, male, female, and unidentifiable others, are gathered several yards away. They appear to be discussing something. One of them points in your direction, and several of the others nod.

Well that doesn't seem good.

Not being able to think of a single clever alibi for what they are doing because just taking what they want, Crystal retreats to the doorway and calls to those inside. "I think we might be about to have company."

She turns back to the cultists. "Who is in charge here?"

Sarcon's strategy of trying to open the door has been unsuccessful, so instead of trying again when enlarged, Sarcon simply tries to pick up the statue.
STR check I case it's attached to the ground, otherwise I can lift up to 1400 lbs as a heavy load
STR: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22


Sarcon, now so enlarged that he must hunch over to avoid the roof, finds himself yet unable to lift the statue. Impressive lift power though.

Crystal:
Crystal addresses the cultists, who then break off into a group of five and head towards her while the few others wander in separate directions. The cultist in front keeps his hood down while the others conceal their faces. "My name is Marquin. You can address me. It seems there has been some misunderstanding since your arrival."

"I would agree. Could you enlighten me?" Crystal keeps her voice neutral, but will retreat into the structure at the first sign of a threat or trouble.


Crystal:
"Seems our folks here thought you were leading a band of pilgrims to bring an offering to our god. But then one of you raised the alarm about some paladins, and another came out here covered in blood and wearing some torn robes. We'd best discuss this over a meal in my home. It's an early dinner, but there's plenty of wine to help us smooth things over."

Uneasy, Crystal nods. "Excuse my companions. They are a bit...eccentric. An early meal would be wonderful. Thank you for your hospitality. Let me gather my allies."

She goes inside the structure. "We have been invited to sup with the leader of this village. Seems like lying to them and coming out of their holy structure drenched in blood is worthy of a talk over a meal." Admonishment is clear in her tone, her arched blond eyebrow showing both amusement and irritation as she crosses her arms.

Well i am still at a loss as to how to enter into the chamber or as to why we are even so interested in such a chamber in the first place. Yet i am begining to suspect an enchantment (possibly greed? ',) might be in effect? I suggest that we leave the statue alone for a while and head to the chieftans hut and discuss things with him?
Yet before we head over might i suggest we get our story straight?

Sarcon, clearly having grown tired of this constant back and forth reaches in to his bag and brings out a waterproof sac.

"I offer the great Asmodeus a tribute in the form of 5/8th of a virgin."

Sarcon turns the sack upside down as he speaks, the limbs and head of human tumbling out.

Sarcon then sits in front of the table and waits.


Perhaps strangely, but also perhaps somewhat predictably, Sarcon's bizarre offering seems to work, in the sense that the offering begins to heat and sizzle, with a mild aroma of cooking meat rising from it.

Giving the Doctor a scathing look, she replies, "I think the general idea is that the item we seek is behind that door. Greed, perhaps, but the entire purpose of our visit to this backwater hellhole."

Seeing Sarcon dump out the human parts, Crystal is not surprised, but makes a comment instead. "So that was the smell I've been putting up with all day..." She trails off as the offering catches fire. Of course! Why was she trying to be nice and somewhat kind to these bumpkins? She had a City to rule, these hillbillies could roast in the Pit.

She tries the door at this point.


Crystal tries the door to no avail.

The cultists waiting outside sound increasingly impatient.

"We're about to have company whether we want it or not. Eat, or fight?" Those seem to be the only two likely options, at this point. While she waits on an answer, she fires another firebolt at the 'lock' on the door itself.

The greed part was meant at us, the players XD
While I agree that we came for the armor, but what proof do we have that it even exists behind that door? No, the enchantment I speak of is the compulsion to go to this hut and to attempt to enter this altar so singlemindedly as to care not weather we anger an entire village with no escape or plan figured out. Why did we arrive to the assumption that it was in here to begin with?
No, I suggest that we go with the cultists to their dinner and attempt to talk to them, gain more information so that we know that we are even looking in the right direction. And possibly have knowledge of how to open that thrice-cursed door...
Worst case, we anger them at the dinner, or we anger them here. nether option I like, but unless you have other ideas, I figure our time has run out.

"Well our impatient friend here kind of limited our options fairly quickly." Has it already gotten to the point where she was not truly annoyed by Sarcon's 'squirrel' complex? Perhaps. Arguing about it now would change nothing.

Crystal looks to the others, awaiting their decision. Words or blood. Just in case, she will sidestep further from the entrance, putting a couple of her fellows between her and the doorway.
