Unless DM-Kal is going to introduce some kind of SimCity metric where we have to balance out tax levels and population, I disagree. DM-Kal can chime in if he wants, but the way the rules are set up, we get the 4,000 regardless, so let's keep it simple.
Victor Ravenport |
Certainly, certainly. However, this would still simply provide us with the 4000 we get and it actually explains why we would get to earn more cash as we grow in level. The city is becoming larger because we are attracting them with a favorable economical setting.
As thus, it is merely fluff. We have a fair tax system and the heroes will be unable to point at our tax system, which is one of the largest reasons that will most likely get them on our asses. If they see that we are driving them into poverty then they are going to ram a sword through our gut, if we are creating prosperity then they will hardly be able to justify coming after the keep.
DM-Kal |
Yeah, I'd really like to avoid over-complicating things, so let's say that the total weekly income/transactions in the City amount to 50,000gp/week. Call it an income tax or a sales tax, it all breaks down the same when people sell their goods and services directly (corporations complicate everything).
EDIT: Victor, don't forget the "Being a Villain" spoiler in the campaign info tab. Oppression is a must.
Marcello Wintrish |
Again, I have nothing against our current way of getting the money.
But I must say that if our taxes runs the people out of the town, I have no wish for us to continue... We can't get money from them if they rebel/flee.
So if 4 gp per week is manageable, then I will not really change anything.

I'm of course also walking around with Crystal when she goes all religious on the commoners.

Victoria Fate |
For Fate's day job this week, she is going to attempt to develop a comprehensive law system and tax code that seems perfectly reasonable at a quick glance, but is actually mildly oppressive. She will also make arrangements with local pundits to proselytize the virtues of these reforms.
Profession (benevolent dictator): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
DM-Kal |
So Sarcon wants to have the guards follow Garroth.
Crystal wants to parade around town declaring herself awesome.
Marcello wants to parade with Crystal.
Fate wants to day job, so thank goodness for a little normalcy.
Victor wants to sit at home in his new easy chair and command/scry on the guards (which will require the larger throne, which may be a bit crowded with Sarcon wanting to use it for half-orc hunting).
Nick P. L. |
So... Are we just going to follow the heroes through the golems while they are in the city, or do we only follow Garroth?
Victor told me that he would send a golden,to follow and if, more like when, it gets discovered, he will bull his way through it and fill them with a lot of misinformation.
Seeing as he hasn't put that up here, I decided to do so, because this silence is kinda killing me.
Any objections?

Merry Christmas!
Happy Hanukkah!
Whatever you say to mean successful Kwanzaa!
I will probably not be able to post as Marcello for the next couple of days, being with family and stuff and only on Wayfinder... So Happy holidays and I will write when I come back home.
Crystal Shalhoume |
Oh, I see. From what I can tell, Vampires don't get the extra hit dice from the change (from what I can see, anyway), but the Skeletal Mage does. Good deal!
Marcello Wintrish |
It is, as far as I can understand, because our race is going to be augmented. If we changed completely, like Victor does, we would get Racial Hit-Dice too...
But, he jut sucks at writing all the stuff out in the open like... adding a tab called "Skeleton Traits" or the like.
So yeah... Awesome deal on his part... Probably all part of his plan if I know him right.
Crystal Shalhoume |
I believe Victor was transforming into a terrible undead skeleton mage who was going to terrify the masses with our tax-collector constructs.
Meanwhile, Sarcon was going to grab some spy time to use the constructs to keep tabs on the half-orc from our previous encounter, Garroth.
Concurrently, Crystal (with Marcello as her dashing escort, barring terrible flaming transformation) was going around town, talking up herself and her companions and preaching the gospel of the One God, strongly urging the populace to convert (this will turn into a demand soon enough).
Fate is I guess fantasizing about what to do with her newfound dictator status, now that she has it.
Victoria Fate |
I was working on the logistical aspects of our new territory such as laws with my Profession check. We need to have appropriately oppressive laws that are still reasonable enough that we can give the heroes pause when they challenge them.
Victoria Fate |
Btw, what did we finally decide on how we are splitting the money from holding the keep this week? I remember we went back and forth on it a bit.
Crystal Shalhoume |
I think we left it at Marcello could have the gold from the loot off the skeleton king (since it was more or less an unexpected boon), and we would just split the loot from the Keep normally. Any issues? Or are we still looking for Marcello to pay back his extra share?

Correct, if I am not flaking skin off, I am running around in my Armor from the Hellknight Order and strikes a dashing (Maybe more intimidating) figure next to Crystal.
Also... On the point about money, I am only getting 500 GP to cover from the loot, meaning that the rest of you have an extra 75 GP.
So you all have 875 GP the next couple of weeks.
Crystal Shalhoume |
Assuming everyone is ok with Marcello's repayment plan, the Keep money will be as follows:
Week 1 & 2 -
Marcello - 500
Everyone Else - 875
Week 3 & 4 -
Marcello - 500
Everyone Else - 1125
Marcello Wintrish |
Sounds fair enough for me...
I'll just save money for a proper weapon. When I turn full Graveknight it is, after all, time for me to work fully towards full fledged Hellknight... So that I can murderlize everything that doesn't follow us.

Actually, Week 4 would be:
Marcello - 752
Everyone Else - 1062
I wasn't taking into account that Marcello was entitled to a share of the 1,685 gp we got from selling the loot from the Keep. ;)
DM-Kal |
Alright, so let's just begin the week with Monday. It seems that Victor commands the constructs to begin collecting taxes, then runs off to find a library to get even smarter. Sarcon, not one to patronize such places of learning, instead snaps up the open seat of the greater throne and begins playing puppeteer with a construct that he uses to try to find the half-orc Garroth. Crystal and Marcello set out to proselytize the masses while Fate considers the finer points of her sinister plan of oppression.
Is that all right for Monday? If so, we're probably going to have to take Crystal, Marcello, and Sarcon-via-construct to the other thread.
Crystal Shalhoume |
That's fine for Monday, by my estimation. Just let me know when I need to start moving over so I can adjust my status bar. :)
Also, I believe Marcello and I are in need of updated stats/abilities based on our continuing transformations.
