Adrienne Caeletha |
My background involves me being injured after poisoning an enemy camp... poisoning woodcutter's camps is kind of my bread and butter.
ElfChampion466 |
As the group conducts their own mission operatives, the RedWardancers are beginning to gather up from their watch and seem to be packing what few provisions they have. They are uninterested in your war meeting, or so you think.
IT IS NOW THE MORNING HOUR OF 9. THE WEATHER IS CLOUDY, WITH WINDS MOVING EAST, SOUTHEAST AT ABOUT 7MPH. NO PRECIPITATION, BUT EVERYTHING IS DAMP. THE NARLMARCHES IS COMING ALIVE WITH ANIMAL SOUNDS. TEMPERATURE IS CURRENTLY 43-DEGREES. YOU ARE ALL RESTED, FED, AND HYDRATED.
I shall have an Elonalryn Doctrine made up in about a week or so. I will say that poisoning individuals is perfectly fine, but natural water sources is forbidden. Food? Well, that up to the situation.
Adrienne Caeletha |
I wouldn't poison natural bodies of water (ponds, rivers, streams, etc). I am an elf after all! But food supplies or stored water/beer supplies are free game.
Especially when it comes to those damned woodcutters... Adrienne blurts out seemingly unaware of what she said or if anyone was even listening.
Adrienne Caeletha |
Are we dealing with the woodcutters first then? Adrienne says with a smile and a glint in her eye. Maybe we should move to scout the area first, we can come up with a more concrete course of action.
Goinin has a point though. We may not want to show ourselves just yet. I think taking out the woodcutter's camp would allow us to make a statement and stay unknown. Attacking a town seems bold this early in our time here.
ElfChampion466 |
TIME: 9AM
WEATHER: Cold, winds of 6mph moving west-southwest, small breaks in the overcast but cloudy. Damp and cold, roughly 44-degrees.
SITUATION: The Narlmarches are beginning to come alive with the typical sounds of wildlife. Nothing overwhelming or alarming.
CONDITIONS: Everyone is fed, and hydrated. The warmth of the fire keeps you in good physical condition.
THREATS: None.
ElfChampion466 |
I want to make sure which lumbermen you are talking about. There is the recently active on in Kinneth to your northeast, and the "inactive" one to the southeast. Am I correct to believe the group is talking about the lumber camp?
As Lidras begins to leave the campsite, the Malkythel team stops what they are doing and looks straight at Lidras in complete puzzlement and concern.
Lidras, moving out on your own is a BAD BAD BAD IDEA. But if you insist...
Celebrindal |
"Lidras, after you have done your morning business, please help us so that we can move out! And yes from now on, you do not even take a shit without a weapon, and that should be the only thing you do alone!"
Although his voice is jolly, there is steel in Celebrindals words.
Goinin Bearback |
Goinin wittily interjects
"Well, while they are always doing that. It doesn't seem like the best of plans."
Making serveral jesture with hand to get the others attention he says
"I think we should foul their tools in the middle of thge night, then shadow them on the way back to town for more tools and make it look like they back the plaque. After which we head back and deal with the rest in a convincing manor."
Celebrindal |
We just arrived, slept and had a briefing. That is pretty fast. We have not tarried! But I understand your impatience!
"We will move out after everyone has gathered his items. Prepare for march! We need to make our own reconaissance."
ElfChampion466 |
The Malkythel squad walks up to the campfire, which is beginning to slowly die down. Lord Lyrondreth steps up to Celebrindal.
"We are ready to move out to our pick up location for an aerial drop to the west. From here on, this area is yours to operate. Just remember that as elves, we have time. But also know that you are effectively alone and any immediate help will be unavailable. If you have questions or need occasional advice, give me a direct message with the crystal. Don't take for granted the notion that the higher ups are watching you, so do your best and be your best. Good luck."
With a salute, the elders move into a single file formation and head out. Fiavia gives a wink to the males in the group. Claeledar points his first two fingers at his eyes and swings them back to your group with a serious look. Kethelis offers a silent prayer to you all, but you are not entirely certain if the blessing was in full sincerity or in sarcasm. Amual waves goodbye, and Daelynn offers a modest smile. Adarion leads the formation. Like a spark, they go from jovial and playful to business. Professionals. Veterans. They know their stuff, hence the reason you heard rumors back in training of them being the best. Weapons drawn, spells ready, eyes and ears alert the moment they exit the confines of the camp. Graceful and dangerous. Beautiful to watch and terrible to behold.
unless you guys conduct any comments or, follow them to the pick up point, the RedWardancers are out of sight within seconds.
Goinin Bearback |
Define Stationary, think sexy nude tai chi/yoga. So that makes my Fort >= 16?
Goinin yells as he shuffles toward his discarded cloths.
"Oooo ow ow, What was that?"
Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
ElfChampion466 |
Goinin looks bitterly cold in this blistering morning, took him less than fifteen minutes to suffer what looks like near frostbit conditions.
@Goinin, on your NEXT hour of exposure, add just your +2 FORT bonus plus the Survival check. For THIS hour, you are pop-cicle. But you still failed the FORT save to avoid cold damage, nonlethal.
What is the rest of the party doing? Fellorian is packed and ready to roll upon command, as is Lidras. Goinin is freezing, Celebrindal and Adrienne are ???
Goinin Bearback |
Shaking his head Celebrindal looks at Goinin. "Soldier, what do you do? You were issued equipment to fend of cold for a reason. You are of no use if you are sick."
As Goinin slides into is cloths he says.
"Its relative"
ElfChampion466 |
Give me a marching formation, travel speed, weapons and spells ready, any spells active if any, and boosted stats/skills. Start with your leader, Celebrindal since he is in charge and will order the formation and position of team members.
TIME: 10AM
WEATHER: Cold, winds of 6mph moving west-southwest, small breaks in the overcast but cloudy. Damp and cold, roughly 45-degrees.
SITUATION: The area is full of wildlife sounds.
CONDITIONS: Everyone remains fed, and hydrated. Goinin has 4 points of nonlethal damage on him. The campfire you are about to leave is now hot embers. The overhead canopy is keeping much of the light from touching ground so it's a bit dark but not too terribly bad against your low light vision.
THREATS: None that you are aware of.
Celebrindal |
Scout team leads, Celebrindal in the middle Lidras and Goinin are Backguard.
Travel speed is dictated by the slowest member, Goinin.
Active Spells =Ant Haul
Weapons at the ready = Bow
Spells at the ready = Shield Extract
Boosted Stats/Skills = Str (Only for carrying capacity)
Fellorian |
Scout Team: Fellorian on left front, Adrienne on the right, ranging from 30 to 500 feet ahead of the main group.
For Fellorian:
Perception: 1d20 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 17 + 2 = 33
ElfChampion466 |
So, the formation is an X pattern which moving Eastward (left to right), will be:
Lidras.................Fellorian
.......Celebrindal
Goinin.................Adrienne
The ground foliage will slow everyone down to 30-feet per turn unless you have an ability to move unhindered which I think all of you do possess. Line-of-sight ranges anywhere from 120 feet down to as close as 20 feet, most of the shrubs and small trees are as tall if not taller than all of you. Ther will be times where LOS between each other will be lost if you maintain such distances, as you have already begun to experience this once your march began. If you want to be stealthy and maximize your alertness, you will need to travel slower. Think of it this way: If you move slower, it's easier to detect, tougher to be detected, but takes longer to get to your destination. If you move normal, it's tougher to detect, easier to be detected, but you get there at a good time. It all depends on your goal. Just remember your Elonalryn doctrine: stealth and diversions are your best friends.
According to your maps and best information given to you, it will take the squad about 3 days to reach the Thorn River Camp converted into the logging camp. If you wish, you may chance at heading to the Temple of the Elk which a full 2 days away. Either way, the direction to go is East-NorthEast; with the temple being slightly north by about 10-degrees by way of compass in relation to heading straight for Thorn River Camp. You will be crossing the Skunk River by sundown or so if all goes well.
Fellorian |
Fellorian suffers no penalties to moving at full speed an maintaining stealth. So she will be moving at full speed, ranging forward to scout and falling back to report as the group moves forward.
The forester can make a Stealth skill check with no penalty even when moving at full speed, so long as she is not observed and is wearing no armor or light armor.
ElfChampion466 |
It simply means that if you want to move at full speed and be stealthy about it, you suffer no negative modifiers. But you still need to make a stealth check. Ah, the wonders of the out-of-print Forester class, which was originally called the Scout in 3.0. Nevertheless, all of you should be ok for now.
Next up will be a few wandering monster checks
ElfChampion466 |
Right. So, the squad covered a full day's journey with no extraordinary events other than player nonsense. You estimate (Survival Roll if you wish) about a full league was covered and you feel confident that you are going in the precise direction of travel desired.
It is almost nightfall. Everyone is slightly tired and thirsty but not necessarily hungry (you're elves after all). The dampness of the forest foliage has made everyone a bit wet, but a small fire or other preparations can fix this.
TIME: Evening hour of 8.
WEATHER: Cold, temperature of about 44-degrees, winds 7 mph true west. Lots of cloud cover, but no indications of precipitation.
CONDITIONS: wet, and dark. Your low-light vision is good to 200 feet max.
SITUATION: No threats to your knowledge. Wildlife is transitioning from day to night.
What will you do?
