Male Human Rogue Trader, Captain of the Victus Rex

I agree with Gaius, self identify what title you want. You guys know better thwn me what your characters want/ are good at.

Male Elfmarked Bard 5 / Warlock 2 || HP: 52/52 || AC 17|| || Init:+2 || Perception: +7, darkvision

Any thoughts on Master Helmsman vs Master of Ordinance?

Male Elfmarked Bard 5 / Warlock 2 || HP: 52/52 || AC 17|| || Init:+2 || Perception: +7, darkvision

Artorius, what did we end with for a PF on the Victus Rex?

Tech Priest Magos Explorator WS41 BS36 S43 T41 A32 I51 Per37 Wil35 Fel37 Wounds: 12/12 Fate: 3/3

Enginseer Prime fits like a glove for Iota. Not the most interesting bonuses, but the background just fits.

@Wraxus
Your introduction would hint towards the description of Master Helmsman as I read it.
Too new to comment on which mechanic would be more beneficial.

Arch-Militant & Master of Arms of the Victus Rex

Nim's pretty straightforward, so Master-at-Arms she is. Though if we're missing a first officer she could be a reluctant one, though I think she lacks the relevant respect.

How does: 'Ead of Emergncy Repairs an' Border Repellin sounds?
There is no role choosable by Orks - despite the first officer - as far as I can tell, so I came up with my own one. A mix-up of the Master-at-Arms and Enginseer Prime, maybe giving +5 to Repel Boarder and +5 to Emergency repair instead of the +10 for one of them?

Male Human Bard (Arcane Duelist)

Khalid would most likely be suited towards the role of a High Factotum, though if we're not doing Achievement Points, there might be something else that could be done.

Hexa: That would be up to the DM but it sounds good to me. I was honestly leaning toward having you as Master at Arms, Zoggit as Chief Bosun, and Emilio as Master of Ordinance. Despite the rank restriction on orks those are probably easily explainable as something they could fill easily enough.

DM: Can the "Cost is No Object" rule be used on initial requisitions? Will/can NPCs fill unused parts of the rank structure?

33 profit factor

So it looks like the rest of the PCs are

Wraxus, Master Helmsman

Iota, Enginseer prime

Nimina, Master at arms

Khalid, High Factorum

Male Human Rogue Trader, Captain of the Victus Rex

How much longer woukd we have to stay in system to get more detailed scans?

Dark Archive

Just a day.

Arch-Militant & Master of Arms of the Victus Rex

Any suggestions for an initial requisition?

Light Power Armour seems reasonable, but power pack only lass 1d5 hours, and given my rolling, it'll probably just be an hour each time.

Good Quality Cybernetic Eye?
Good Quality Internal Blade?

Some sort of fancy weapon?
Some sort of power field?
A team of Combat Servitors?

A team of professional soldiers (not sure how to acquire this?)

Or did we have a some ship/party wide upgrade we wanted?

Power Field is always an incredible valuable requisition.
Nothing else saves one from that one lascannon-shot-to-the-face.
A professional soldier team would be awesome - just go with equipment requisiton for a small group I think. Some Ex-Guardsmen should be widely available to wield them.

Male Human Rogue Trader, Captain of the Victus Rex

Nimina, I already requisitioned a team of good quality combat servitors.

Did I miss something? How's it possible to get a best quality cortex implant with starting acquisition?

Tech Priest Magos Explorator WS41 BS36 S43 T41 A32 I51 Per37 Wil35 Fel37 Wounds: 12/12 Fate: 3/3

That was not from acquisition actually.

The Explorators 'special skill' from page 72 in the core book states you may select 2 implants of common craftmanship and upgrade them for 200ep per upgrade.
So you could get best quality cortex implants for 400ep(common -200ep-> good -200ep-> best)

I had my ep wrong at first tho because my last game was Deathwatch where you get 1000 ep to start, so I went down to good quality(which is enough for unnat int) to be able to get the Hunter background.

Male Human Bard (Arcane Duelist)

A good-quality Cortex Implant is an Extremely Rare thing. It's not Near Unique, at least not in Rogue Trader. Might want to change things around!

Dark Archive

Guys, I will allow the requested requisition. That should give you an idea of what you will face.

I will move you guys to Footfall if there are no objections; note, the condition for the +1 PF advance I mentioned in the IC thread.

I don't think that there are any. Think everyone is eager to get this campaign moving. We had plenty of time for funny/informational posts about ourselves.

Up for moving to footfall.

Yup. Ready. If i have to pick 1 of the 2. I will pick the orky stealth cloak =^^=
+20 concealment and +1 range increment vs ranged attacks

Male Human Bard (Arcane Duelist)

Ready to move on as well!

@Iota, just putting this out, Khalid wasn't showing off, and the offer was genuine. The Mechanicus-approved action was the one you took, of course, though! If you're feeling like it, we might have a bit of a adversarial approach to one another? Everyone getting together like a heretic on fire is fine and all, but it might get a bit boring. Plus, decent interaction opportunities.

@GM, would it be possible to change the Forbidden Lores I have? I like the Archeotech, and I can't change it anyway, but I might change the Warp and the Xenos to something else, considering the huge-ish overlap I got with Iota at the moment. And he's a Xenologis, after all. Was thinking Demonology and Psykers?

Arch-Militant & Master of Arms of the Victus Rex

After some consideration I think Nimina is going to have a light degree of enhancement addiction, so I'll go with the Cyber-eye, it's not entirely clear from the book, does it automagically come with telescopic sight/dark vision if desired, or is it either/or or pay extra?

I think it simply goes with craftsmanship. Good craftsmanship = pick one, best craftsmanship = both.
Just a guess, as it IS written very unclear.

Starship Heavy Frigate

Everything about the Victus rex should be in this profile. I can PM when I am not on my phone.

Tech Priest Magos Explorator WS41 BS36 S43 T41 A32 I51 Per37 Wil35 Fel37 Wounds: 12/12 Fate: 3/3

@Khalid
Just as you say, I did have the character take the offer at face value(altho my OT guess is that Khalid is a schemer behind the prattling old man routine, being Seneschal and all ;) ) but thought it would be an appropriate answer from a tech priest.
I wouldn't mind a bit of adversarial play but for Iotas part I'll try to play it more as jealous guarding of his sacred machinery rather than dislike towards Khalid(or anyone for that matter). Of course Khalid is free to take offense to that. I did have Iota say "... bear witness to ..." quite intentional. Just distract him while you do the important work he declines on some religious grounds =3

And just because we have similar skills doesn't mean we'll use them the same way but that's for you to decide =3

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Arch-Militant & Master of Arms of the Victus Rex

As a suggestion, can we put our location as a heading on our posts, it's probably just because I'm getting old and slow, but apart from the orks who I know are on the other ship I keep having to double check who's on which ship.

Good idea Nimina - I have the same problem with some players - especially the arch-militants / pilots.
I have added the Ship Name in the alias after the class/Level entry - so it will show up under my name.

[EDIT:] I also added the ship role. Took Master-at-Arms after the wish of our Captain. Cant wait to lead our first boarding with a characteristic *harharhar*

Ork WS 53; BS 25; S 52; T 50; Ag 43; Int 24; Per 35; WP 36; Fel 27 Freebooter Chief Bosun Indomitable Will

Need to do the same for me.

That profile is empty, no ship stats. Things like augers and such we need to do not based on our characteristics, but the ships detection+skill, etc. I'm gonna try to work up a post with those ship actions spoilers, maybe broken down in some better order than the book. I'll paste here and you (Both RT) can cut/paste into the ship profiles and/or your own PC alias profile. That way you won't need to books to check them.

I'll also update my Alias to show what ship I'm aboard and my position.

Weird, it must not have saved when I made the profile. I will fix that when I get the chance.

Not sure how to RolePlay with orks. Are they going to spread spores just by being around so people shun them for that on top of being xenos? I'd imagine they're sanctioned? They are full members of our dynasty and crew and should be respected as such... Though people will be people regardless. Just not sure how to reply IC...

Dark Archive

They're sanctioned or the lord-captain's gonna be donating a significant portion of your profit factor to some corrupt officials lol

Mhhh sanctioned is a own talent for Xeno characters to take - but only at higher levels ... I pretty much forgot that aspect of plying an ork as I posted before. I will most likely stick with Gaius then ... no one will object an Ork-Bodyguard of an RT ... at least not until he is some crazy fanatic Inquisitor at least ...^^

I really have no experience with Orks on Wh40k, except one occasion where we had to kill some, not much learned... Guess I have some reading, the last great xenos I've neglected in the lore. Please forgive my ignorance IC until I catch up.

everything should be in this profile now.

Guys I am just taking a rest; I should be able to post again normally in a few hours.

Does a ship have base stats? I mean for example, a detection test: I saw the +5 to detection, but didn't see our ship's base stats...Detection would be my scrutiny+detection+bonuses...

Could be way off, I'm still working on the ship actions for the profile, just put it on the back burner while planet-side.

No problem Radavel: Better slow and steady than to exhaust one self.

@Gaius: You now officially have a orkish proclamator. Not many RTs can say that about them self ;-)

Hexa just got da brilliant idea fer decreasin da fear of da hummies from da ork-spores: Da xperiment will start immediately on da return. A coat with da built in lil burnas dad will burn da spores as me walkin through da town. Ah, Glados dad is da fing, no? Hexas a genius, eh?!
That should defiantly eliminate da fears of the average human citizen: A ork with a metal-leather coat burning the ground behind him to remove possible spores! Ork-Tech true and thorough.

@Radavel: Edited my gameplay post with the intimidate roll. (Just as a heads up)

If you do it you use your stats, if a random npc crew member does it I believe it is done assuming they have 30 in the relevant stat.

Male Human Bard (Arcane Duelist)

Hm. I don't think Orks radiate spores unless they're severely wounded/bleeding or dead. Even then, I doubt that'd be a problem on a space station, as most of the problems with the spores are on Feral Worlds, Frontier Worlds, and generally places where they can amass huge numbers without anyone seeing them. Here, you got vermin and whatnots everywhere, who would be a challenge to a... young? ork.

Tech Priest Magos Explorator WS41 BS36 S43 T41 A32 I51 Per37 Wil35 Fel37 Wounds: 12/12 Fate: 3/3

I'd guess that a space station doesn't have any problems to begin with because these spores still work like plant spores -> they need soil to grow.

According to some fluff the evolution of ork spores is gretchin -> squigs -> orks
But even that fluff wasn't sure if squigs develop from the spores or if gretchins somehow manage to breed them from... something.

So once you have an ork infestation there should always be someone weak enough to leave spores.

Also I don't think many people will even know about orks leaving their spores everywhere. According to the Inquisitor of the Ciaphas Cain Novels that wasn't discovered until close to 42M even then it wouldn't spread outside the various forms of military - they want the masses to be as ignorant as possible to be as happy as possible, so at most they might know that you're supposed to burn ork corpses because some grand-grandfather was present during an invasion and saw the military do it.

In the end tho all Fluff in Wh40K is meant to be 'in-universe' wittness reports so nothing can be taken for granted even if it's described as have happened that way in a novel so we'll have to see how the world(GM) reacts to our Orks running around =3

Probably going to requisition a conversion field.
Or should I get something else instead?

Emilio. wrote:

Comversion Fields are dandy, a weapon MIU (Shoulder mounted pistol) might be worth considering or a good quality Bionic Respiratory System (Full life support and +2 armor to body) or good quality Cyber Eyes (Dark sight and +10 to Perception(sight) rolls) might be worth looking at. Just some thoughts, I don't want to pressure you, just point out something you might not have considered.
