For a PbP in a dungeon-delving situation like this, it's most convenient to just have one player say "we go here, we go there" instead of waiting for everyone to post. Or even better, the GM can just describe all of the uninteresting rooms that we pass through until we reach something interesting (assuming that we quickly scan each room for magic, traps, and other points of interest).
That's my two cents, anyways.

I agree the old "caller" concept does help move things along in PbP. Now that I've seen you guys sneaking around I can extrapolate a little bit while you're sneaking. But getting you back into the party, that's going to require your personal touch.

Naturally it happens at the worst possible moment! Waifrin still has half her power points, and her surge blast, and she's still buffed. She can function.

Yeah, it does, Wellard. My ill advised foray into DMing 3 PbPs slowed me considerably, and there have been changes at work. I do appreciate all of you sticking around though.
We are closing in on the end of book 2, however.
Well it looks like this game doesn't need speeding up now as it's about to come to a sorry end
Fiosa is paralyzed,Marius is paralyzed and it's likely that Zarabeth will be too..even if she isn't it's unlikely that Zara and Waif can win this Archon or no Archon.
It does look grim, although Zarabeta's save is a ray of hope.
We have options.
1. Let the dice fall as they may. This could be a TPK.
2. Retcon mildly to let Fiosa do something more aggressive on her round 1.
3. Retcon more actively -- I'm open to suggestions.
4. Play it out and then decide.
5. I have two possible back doors for a deus ex machina, with some story justification. Either one could provide you with a timely ally.

I don't own Council of Thieves, and have avoided reading about it online, but I thought for sure we were in book 3 or 4 already! (I thought the bastards were book 2 and the play book 3, which is why I was so disappointed to get 55 gp. for what I thought was 1/6th of the entire Adventure Path!)
(If we don't make it, at least Zarabeta will never learn the dark secret that daddy never came home because he resettled in Westcrown and has a new wife and family, having abandoned his family in Katheer along with some outstanding debts he didn't want to repay!)

Treat the ghoul's first round as a charge, giving them +2, but only one attack apiece.

Playing "by the book" one shot apiece is appropriate. That means Zara's definitely not paralysed, as she hasn't been hit, but Marius and Fiosa are. Waif's second shot should destroy the ghast, and that leaves 2 ghouls vs 2 of us. Not great, but we could still pull it off - especially as being paralysed may not prevent Fiosa from channelling.
Another possibility is that Blastinator Waifrin may be able to catch all the ghouls in a 15' cone aimed high to avoid the fallen party members. If so she can max her surge and dish out 7d4+2 damage to all three.
I am surprised that we haven't had more discussion about what to do.
Dabbler, good idea, but Waifrin's in the middle of the group. She can target 2 ghouls or a ghast. All of whom are in melee.

Yes, but if Marius was paralysed would he no longer count? But if he's not, she would have made it a 1-point blast. Up to you I guess.
Hmmm. I've always imagined 'paralyzed' left you standing still if you were relatively stable when it took effect.
In any event Marius' first save was enough save v paralysis. So he could deal with it on his own. Waifrin can keep the power points; the shot is not needed.
That encounter didn't even register as a problem in my mind. I knew the shadows were brutal, but when I looked this one over I looked at BAB, damage, AC and HP. It didn't occur to me that they'd land so many hits and you'd fail so many saves, but in retrospect with three attacks each it's a pretty sure thing that 1 PC will be paralyzed and two isn't beyond possibility.
On the other hand, we faced more in RotRL at Foxglove's manor. But we knew what we were hunting there.
I'll point out that the RotRL party is more combat capable than this one.You walked that encounter even with my doubling the ghouls.
