hogarth,

Spoiler:
OK. How do we fit Fiosa back in? A couple ideas come to mind.
  • Arael decides he needs someone to keep an eye on Heavensent in Akorian's absence.
  • Fiosa's done something which might attract unfavorable interest or publicity to the Children of Westcrown and Arael reassigns her to the covert wing of the revolution.
  • Fiosa coincidentally ends up at the play.
  • Some combo of the above.
  • I'm open to your ideas.

Likewise, we need an explanation for her quantum jump in power and wealth. Suddenly newfound favor in the eyes of Iomedae works for one.

We don't need reams of text, so don't feel you've got to produce that. I just want to agree on an outline of recent events in her life.

Spoiler:
I was thinking something along the lines of:
  • The Children of Westcrown hear that Akorian has left and Arael suggests that Fiosa go and ask if they need help (and also keep an eye on them, as you noted).
  • She's been receiving religious instruction from Arael all along, and since they split up she has been helping her halfling associates with healing and other magic, not to mention occasionally fighting the shadowbeasts at night. By the way, as far as I can tell, it wasn't really stated exactly what abilities the Children had before (other than a note that Marius helped Fiosa practice knife-throwing). So maybe she had already been training a bit already before the adventure started.
  • As far as equipment goes, maybe Arael had a spare wand he could give her and maybe a minor magic item like a Cloak of Resistance +1 (in lieu of 1500 gp in cold hard cash).

I'm open to suggestions, of course.

    Spoiler:
Good enough. When do we drop you in? Do you want to break into rehearsal? Be waiting for them when they return from rehearsal? (I plan on keeping rehearsal short IRL. Of course these plans of mine oft fail on contact with the party.

    Spoiler:
I guess I'll track them down after their rehearsal.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

    hogarth:

    Spoiler:
Why don't you slip into the rehearsal for the last run-through? You can be the voice from the depths of the supposedly empty seats. Your cue will be something like "Millech steps onto the stage and begins resetting the props."

Have you any interest in acting or crewing?

    Spoiler:
Okay, sounds good to me. Fiosa will volunteer to help in any way she can. She can play the pan pipes, but she'll help with anything else as well.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Wellard -- it's fun playing with someone who gets all my references. Are you quite sure you're not American?

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

I can assure you, he is definitely Scottish. Mind you, ancestrally so is MacDonalds ....

The Burger people are Irish Mc's not Scottish Mac's

As for the Edwin Booth reference I've had a passion for reading about and wargaming the War between the States since I was 11.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

The last great war fought with Napoleonic tactics. Dramatic characters. The Civil War is fascinating.

Back to the game. We've established the actors' bonuses for perform checks. I thought Fiosa playing accompaniment to help set the mood was a good idea. Too bad none of you approached Robahl while he was in a good mood.

Ladies, you can make perform, diplomacy, bluff, or intelligence checks to determine the quality of your re-writes. That will determine a modifier for the script.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Actually it showed the transition from Napoleonic tactics to trench warfare tactics as the war progressed and more accurate, faster-firing guns were produced and armies tended to entrench themselves in defensive positions. It also showed the first example of Total War, where a war becomes a clash of industrial capacity.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

True, but I didn't want to get that involved. Don't forget the innovations in naval warfare Hunley, Merrimack, and Monitor too. Aerial observation. Also an increase in the importance of logistics -- railroads became important targets.

I agree..1860-65 sees the transition to true industrialised warfare..before 1860 war was still a game of armies after 1865 it was populations and technology that really counted.

Mind you as the Franco-Prussian War showed the Europeans didnt really learn anything from it till 1914.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

I've got to confess ignorance of the Franco-Prussian War. Your erudition quite amazes me.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

The Franco-Prussian war gave rise to Germany as a nation. The French tried to fight a Napoleonic war against a more modern Prussian army, and lost badly, Germany formed from the various Germanic states plus land seized from France (Alsace-Lorraine if my memory serves me right). It's one reason the French were so eager to go to war in 1914 to get that land back.

and it occured in 1870..the Prussians studied Grant's campiagns closely and applied some lessons from them but not fully. The French came on in their old style and had their asses handed to them.Eventually the main French armies were forced into humiliating surrenders. Paris was beseiged

Napoleon III was forced of the throne and into exile and the 3rd Republlic was proclaimed...whose first act was to supress the Paris Communes who had provided the only real resistance to the Prusssians for nearly a year.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Interesting. I'll have to have a look next year.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Posting is slowing down. The holiday busy season is here. Feel free to RP as you wish. I'll look in occasionally if you have any questions or requests.

I will suggest you might consider buying gear with these couple days of in-game downtime.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Work, holidays and prepping visits by the in-laws is leaving me rather busy IRL. I'd like to put the game on hiatus for a bit.

I'll see you guys shortly after Christmas. Not sure of an exact date because my wife is planning a last minute holiday trip with my mother-in-law.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.

Merry Christmas, Joyous Yuletide and a Happy New Year to everyone.

I'll have limited internet access until Dec. 31. Feliz Año Nuevo!

    Male Human

Merry Christmas everyone and to all a happy new year... in about a week! HO. HO. HO.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Merry Christmas! Looks like posting will be sketchy next week.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

    Happy New Year!

    I'll post tonight.

Question -- do you all want to fast forward to the play itself and handwave further rehearsal?

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

I think we have made all our checks to later on tonight make a statement in the final scene that will undermine the corrupt authority without offending the nobs we are performing for (30+ on Diplomacy), it just hinges on Waif's Bluff to pull it off.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

I'll take that as a yes.

    Anyone else?

And do you want to do any shopping in the intervening days?

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

I believe there were some items we were to get for Marius - Mithral blades, one enchanted.

    Male Human

On with the show, I say! :-P

As far as shopping is concerned, I cannot think of anything, except for Marius' mithral short swords of course.

    Male Human

I will be going on vacation come tomorrow for about a week. I should be back on the 17th or 18th of January. Please DMPC my character as needed. :-)

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Thanks for the heads up. Have a good time! See you on your return.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Is it a really BIG pentagram? Only I think you just described somebody I used to know ... :D

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Guys, you may have noticed my posting has slowed. We've got a big job due in March. Expect slow posting through the end of that month.

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Anyone care to guess what Drovalid is up to?

    Male Human

Guys, due to work being a bit too time-consuming these days, I will be posting a bit more sparsely for the next 10-15 days. Just thought I should give you a heads up.

I'll be away for the weekend at a wargames show in York..back on Monday Morning my time

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

    Will post tonight

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Oh, just across the Pennines from me ...

I'll be away with limited internet access until Monday (Feb 13).

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

    work explosion

Can you remove me from the roster of "Former Players" so that I can see the game on my Campaigns page? Please and thank you!

    Bump!

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Whoa! When did your first post get there Hogarth? ANyway, I figured out how to make you current. Whoo! Whoo!

    Thanks, that did the trick!

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Sorry, guys. Work continues to be a kick in the pants.

have I said how much I hate rot grubs..have I..??????

Cookie Jar Pilferer 9 ; Dimensional Explorer 4

Wellard, that's the best 1 you'll ever roll. I had made a rule for myself that natural ones for performance in this act would mean the performance was so bad, the pain so ugly, that the more ghoulish audience members would actually dig it. You actually come away a little positive for being so bad.

    real post later.

    Dark Archive

    Some dude

Everyone else is all 'Oh sweet temptation!' and Marius is like 'Agh! Get it out! <Stab, stab> Die you ****er!'

    Cue audience cracking up.

This IS the internet you know ... Alegedly human Expert (IT) 5/Ninja 3/Witch 7

Actually, as he is meant to be playing a paladin who is chaste and prissy, that might not be so out of character.

Say, Thom, what do we get for a natural 20? :D
