Yeah still on initiative. I just decided not to bot or delay Ronen because he may have come on trying to post when the site was down. So instead of closing the round out when I came on last night I decided to wait and see if Ronen came on today to take his turn.
What you want to do is refer to the table I have up there on top. It shows in parenthesis what you did on your turn (if you have taken your turn), and if you haven't gone yet and you need to go, it will show little arrows next to your name like so "<<<<".
The idea with the headers is so there's never any doubt as to who has gone and who's up. It's a tool for that.
So for example, in Round 4, Priscilla has now effectively taken two turns (one with a header and one without). Which is kind of wonky. And Ronen has posted something descriptive, but without any actual actions in the post and without a header, I can't necessarily tell whether he is forfeiting his turn or what.
Anyway its no biggie, I can pretty much go with what makes sense. But the general idea is that if you use the header idea, we will all end up taking exactly one turn per round and never feeling unsure if we have gone yet or who is up.
Anyway in this case I will just take Priscilla's roll from the second turn she took in Round 4 and save it for her Round 5 action. And I will interpret Ronen's post as forfeiting his turn.
Onward!

I may be biased since the spell is effecting me directly but I'd say that the first paragraph of the text establishes three separate things:
1) Unattended Objects get no saves.
2) Magic items are allowed a saving throw.
3) An item in a creature's possession uses the creature's saving throw bonus.
Since none of this immediately conflicts I'd make the case that we are allowed Will Saves under the third point.

You got lever 1 jammed so it will stay on if you start throwing other levers.
Let's do it like this, Priss.
Round 6 you can crank one more lever and jam the third (with a successful disable device roll). Your choice which lever is thrown in round 6 (causeway b or portullis).
I'm about to bot Cairenn in a second here, so Round 6 will be open.

Sorry 'bout that. I'll try to stay on top of things, but the next few days I will be busy/traveling some. If you wind up waiting on me, feel free to bot.

Hey guys! I am at my nana's house. The ceiling started flooding midweek and I had to head over here to be with her. As you may remember my gramps passed recently, and my little nana can't be dealing with a crisis in the house by herself. So I popped over here to camp out all the way through easter and on into monday and tuesday when some guys are coming to tear out the roof in the kitchen. Now the funny thing is, the internet is not really working much at all. Over wifi from my laptop or any other device anyone has tried, webpages don't load at all. Even from the house computer which is wired to the modem, she can check her email but that's about it. Search results will come up from google eventually after a long wait but just about anything you click on from there times out. Not exactly sure what the deal is, but beyond reseting the modem (which didn't work) I haven't been able to devote any time to troubleshooting it. Today we went to my aunts house for easter and I tried to pop in here from a relatives smart phone but had some trouble with that too lol. And it just didn't seem polite to keep laboring at it on someone else's phone, I mean, I could have but the right time to do it just never quite presented itself. Emotionally charged day but a good one overall.
Anyway, back at nana's now and I am somehow able to post this at this very moment from my own laptop... but there's a cooking show coming on that we have been getting pretty absorbed in =) So I will be back tomorrow with a little luck. On the other hand, there's a chance I won't be able to get here as well! If that happens now you know why at least. Sorry guys!! Be back in swing wednesday at the very latest.

What cooking show is that?
It was called "Chopped". Not the greatest show but somehow it was just nice to sit in front of and get engrossed in it with the rest of the house full of these crazy fans and dehumidifiers and gaping holes in the roof.
Wed-Thurs were a disaster though. I took on too much work and travel time and got in an accident traveling in an ice storm. That's why I couldn't get online, I had to stay in motels between shifts.
So hang in there guys, I'm having a really, really tough week.

I am addicted to all those crazy Food Network series. I still miss the original Iron Chef shows from Japan, though. Those were the best!

Ok so I'm thinking I'll probably do a narrative style post that kind of gives a synopsis of what happens as you all move forward into the next section because with the elementals on the ropes the little traps in the portcullis don't pose enough of a threat to be worth playing out in real time. I'll just describe what happens in summary and this way we can nudge things on towards the next encounter area.
That way we can get into a better rhythm again this week.
I'm going to go off the assumption that you guys want to pass the portcullis and proceed onto the road beyond there, so if there's any particular marching order or precautions or anything just chime in.
Also, I suppose we need a vote. Are you closing the portcullis behind you or leaving it open?
Ronen Carst |
I vote to leave it open. Right now it is our only way out.
Hope the days are better now Grimmy. Keep those eyese pointed straight ahead and looking up!

Here is the info about the three demons that were carved in the shaft that led down to the first cavern. These were the demon heads that Cairenn pulled the gemstones from.
This info was in a spoiler earlier, which Ares made the check for, so this knowledge is known to the group if Ares passed it along.
The particulars about the demons are not necessarily of any great importance. The thing that matters is that you understand the relationship these ancient people had to these demons. They did not worship them per se. The name they had for the demons translates loosely to "enemies".
These people did not want to spend the afterlife in the abyss. They also abhorred undeath. The whole purpose for this barrow was to protect the souls of those interred from the demons.
It seems these tribal people had a way of trapping their souls in a private demi plane inside of amber crystals, so they could be with their ancestors. The traps in the barrow are a sort of gauntlet for aspirants to pass to earn their way into the private demi-plane afterlife.
I've been trying to trickle down this info in spoilers and such, sorry the reveal hasn't been too smooth lol.
Anyway this is what your characters are supposed to know by know from the various carvings and engravings, so maybe if the knowledge type characters could allude to these facts are something that would help to make the waters less muddy.
Lol sorry I am just not sure what I have already spoilered in knowledge checks and which checks have been passed or failed by the PC's, so I thought it might help to do a little info dump here.

Felclugh (Guardian of the Blood Lake): Felclugh lurked in the Abyssal Blood Lake and protected the entrance to the underworld. He delighted in drowning his victims.
Lhamskarr (The Hungry One): Tormented by his endless hunger, Lhamskarr’s atavistic desire for the fears of those falling into his clutches was insatiable.
Maughuxin (Keeper of the Abyssal Flame): Maughuxin tormented those displeasing him by immersing them in the Abyssal Flame and consuming their scorched flesh.
Copy/Paste error, I meant to include this specific info in the above post ;)
Again, these lesser demons are just chumps compared to Orcus. They are not associated with the demon prince of undeath. They are just lesser tribal totem demons that used to traffic with these ancient tribal people.
Cairenn Bell |
Just a heads-up that I have several big work deadlines hitting right now, and a bout of sickness in the family, so I'll probably be a little slow for several days. Sorry about that, but I'll try and squeeze in a post here and there. If you need an action from my character and you're waiting on me, feel free to GMPC.
Cairenn Bell |
Well, per his roll, Cairenn wants to see if he knows anything of the Prince of Death, i.e. whether that's an evil entity, or what not. Death-obsession aside, Cairenn won't willingly follow the orders of any sort of demon lord or the like. (Though he might bluff that he was.)
Urrnir Drahaenn |
A case of mistaken identity.
They seem to think we are members of the expedition team. This is definitive proof of nefarious acts being carried out in a planned manner by some group. As such, whatever they want us to do, I want to do the opposite of.
Right now it seems that these amber stones are key in preventing from the rest of the ancients being raised. Preserving them would be wise.
Lilia Stinisen |
Same as Urrnir. I think we are between a rock and a hard place, though. We aren't the group they think we are....that means the group they are waiting for is coming soon. We need to get deeper or get out asap, I think.
