Let's take this time to clean up character sheets too guys, all the new guys coming in have very clean sheets, I made it a requirement in recruitment.
I'm going over Priss's sheet now, Priss, clean it up, add some formatting. Make it easier for me to read.
-In one place it still says CHA 13. Change that to 14 and reference the inherent bonus from the Nereid
-It seems like you might be missing a feat. Improved Initiative is your Combat Trick right? So you only have Weapon Finesse and Quick Draw listed. Where is your campaign bonus feat?
-Check your CMB and CMD. I am getting CMB +2 and CMD 14
-Check your Trapfinding bonus
-Where did you put your Favored Class bonus's? HP's or Skills? Record this info
-Check your skill ranks, it seems you should have more
-Check your languages known.
Put those big blocks of rules text inside spoilers.

Ares, work on yours a little too. You have everything buried in spoilers. Take the main stuff out of spoilers, so I can look at it like looking at a sheet of paper. Just spoiler any lengthy bits. Fix your broken bbcode tags. Make it nice so it doesn't confuse the eye.
If I can read your sheets I can design encounters and challenges better. In most of games last year I just ended up setting up encounters and skill DC's without knowing if PC's had any hope of success because I had no idea what the PC's could do because I couldn't stand looking at their sheets. I would click on the profile and just give up.
Not that yours is bad Ares, I'm just putting this out there because we're all friends now. If I don't tell you guys what I need to run the game smoothly, I'll burn out. If you make this stuff easy on me we can have a great game that lasts.

Fetch the Drudge, that character sheet is nice and easy to read by the way. You got it right. For what it's worth. It looks like you have a cool character there, but if you read my recruitment thread you will see that I was never asking people to hand in their ready made characters. I was asking people to take a look at this ongoing story and start a dialogue to see if they could weave something into it.
In a typical game recruitment your submission would be just fine and if you look around the boards and find one that fits I'm sure you won't have any trouble getting Fetch accepted.
Now that you dressed up the profile nicely that won't hurt your chances either, I am not the only DM who appreciates that.

Hey everyone! I will clean up my character sheet tomorrow, including making my purchases and getting my encumbrance tracked.
But in the meanwhile, thanks to the DM for the selection, and hello everyone! I'm excited to get to know the group of you.
Hit point rolls for 2nd and 3rd levels 2d6 ⇒ (4, 3) = 7

Speaking of working on characters:
Any suggestions on how this Arisen should happen? I think the simplest way to go about it would be myself acting as an agent of Freya (and Muir to a lesser extent) to pull Ares back from the verge of passing over.
But there's a couple of questions I'd have with that: are all of these gods part of the same pantheon or are they considered to act independently of each other? Should this happen at the Valley of the Shrine or does that not make sense?
Ares Valorn |
I will fix up my character sheet and Grimmy do you want me to use the new amount of starting gold or stick with what I had from the last game.
@Urrinir: Trying to think of something like my fathers shattered shield laid upon me and its ancient steel called for you to keep my soul on this plane. Will try to think about it a little more tonight.

Priscilla has heaps of coin from her stop at the Nereid's pool on her way home. You should get her to break you off your cut once you come back to life. I will go look up the amounts right now.
Edit: 6 base 100gp gems, 3 pieces of jewelry, 3,401 sp, 2,924 gp
How much of that were you able to carry by yourself Priscilla?
Cairenn Bell |
It's not a bad feat to be sure, I like it a lot, but... IDK, I'm not sold solidly on it for Cairenn. Anyway, I'll look it over and decide.

I think these gods are not in a pantheon in the Mount Olympus sense. And they are maybe a smudge more "removed" than in Golarion or Faerun cosmology. I hope that makes sense.
The Ressurection of Ares Valorn!
Move action: Activate brainstorm
Muir and Thyr are from the old guard of gods back when evil had a strong footing in the world. People prayed to them because they were the only hope, with Orcus having a stronghold in the City of Tsar.
Now it has been 300 years since Orcus's army was driven out of Tsar and down into Rappan Athuk. People today pray to gods of practical things for a happy and prosperous life, like praying for good crops, wealth, luck and love.
Freya has a warrior aspect that was connected with the heroic age, but she is still very popular because of her fertility aspect.
I would like to think that when Ares Valorn died, Muir wept because her following in the world had grown too tenuous for her to intervene. I imagine Freya stepping in to intercede on her behalf.
We must decide how Urrnir Drahaenn was chosen to be the agent of this intercession. I imagine that Urrnir would have been called upon to make a sacrifice of some kind. Perhaps she was on the verge of achieving some worldly happiness such as land, title, office, wealth or love, which she forfeited to answer Freya's call and retrieve Ares from the land of the dead.
Maybe Urrnir's wish is to die... she has just achieved an honorable death on the battlefield. She longs for the afterlife, but she returns to the earthly realm with Ares's soul in tow, having sworn to attend him as his bodyguard in this world.

I drag as much as possible!
But definitely the 6 gems, the jewelry(cause these are ease to carry)
Stash the silver and gold save about 1000 gold pieces which I will carry.
I'll stash the remaining coinage outside the dungeon, probably by a statue in a small hard to reach spot for all but the Halfling sized
DM Grimmy |
Well this treasure is at the bottom of the nereid's pool, not in the dungeon. You can stash it or just leave it at the bottom of the pool. No one almost ever goes there, and if they do they would have to deal with the nereid and the two water weirds.
You can take the jewelry and the gems but you have to check your carrying capacity to see how much coin you can bring back this time.
Urrnir Drahaenn |
With my characters death: what if we look at the other end? I died some dishonorable or mundane death for a warrior? Something like disease or famine.
Looking over the wiki I think the best choice for my home town would be Fairhill (without creating a whole new settlement), and it looks like they've been having some issues.
So if my character died a very un-warrior like death then maybe this is my opportunity to come back and do some actual good?
Urrnir Drahaenn |
Now, now. I'm just joining the brainstorm party. I haven't favored anything in particular yet.
She longs for the afterlife, but she returns to the earthly realm with Ares's soul in tow, having sworn to attend him as his bodyguard in this world
Now this...this I like.
I wouldn't do it without Ares' consent though.
DM Grimmy |
Priss you could lug a lot more gold than that, you would be encumbered but you could do it. Just from the pool to the Citadel of Griffons. The knights flew you home the rest of the way from there when you told them that everyone died and you needed to warn Bard's Gate about the Orcus priests and the froggy priests.
I will look up the numbers. 1 lb/50 gp, you are what, Str 10? Hang on...
Don't feel bad taking the Nereid's gold, she doesn't care about it too much as long as there's enough to make the pool glittery. It's just from people she's killed over the ages. She tosses their other stuff in the woods and keeps the sparkly stuff.

Yeah, I guess this version makes more sense for low level, how would you die an epic heroes' death worthy of valhalla if your only level 3 right...

Dotting.
Also like to join in on the brainstorming party:
I think Urrnir and Grimmy's idea both can work if Urrnir actually died too early.
Let's say Freya had a task for Urrnir a goal of great importance (something that Urrnir does not know about) knowing that this task must be completed she does the unthinkable she sends one of her fallen warriors back to the mortal plane with the hope that she might complete this task one day.
Those are my two coppers.
DM Grimmy |
Priss:
Medium load 65 lbs.
Current load 23.5 lbs.
65-23.5=41.5 lbs.
50 Coins/lb.
50*41.5=2050
You can carry 2050 gold coins home from the nereid pond.
Plus 6 100GP Emeralds, 2 50GP Earings, 1 75GP necklace.
Share with Ares when he's not dead. Or at least buy him a beer.
That leaves 874 GP and 3,401 SP in the Nereid pool. Make a note of that.
Also these are ancient coins, not the gold Harps of Bard's Gate.
Still accepted almost everywhere.

Ares, I know Urrnir is eager for your input on this as well.
"My soul belongs to my Mistress Muir and what she decides I will follow."
If she wishes to send an emissary to bring me back, and I will fight twice of heard since I have honor my brother and the rest of my fallen comrades. Urrnir I promise you battles of such magnitude that when you finally arrive you will shake the ground of Freya's celestial home!
I cool with the ideas so far. I'll think over a few things and add something more to the story. Drawing blanks right now.
