Yup! It should say so in the character profile. Did I delete it by mistake...?
I don't know if you deleted it, but I can't see it ^^. I might be looking in the wrong place.
May I present Kailynn, the Rose
I've selected Unchained as my additional book and took the average (4.5) hit points for her hit die.
I'm still working up her background, but the short version is that she grew up on the streets of Carrion Hill being picked on and bullied by the other street urchins. She ws taken in by the clerics at the temple of Pharasma where she lives to this day. She has become devout in her worship but she just can't shake the street kid inside of her.
Looks good! I was unaware that any class with the domain feature could take inquisitions, which is really cool.
I was kind of looking at Burst of Speed, but I also enjoy rolling on that table.
Edit: That variant ability is the +2 to Wisdom. I know some GM's have a problem with those. If you do, I could simply take the burst of speed ability.
I only have an issue with it, when people opt for it for a min-maxing purpose. Since you chose to roll, you're not apparently going for that. I will let you choose between burst of speed and +2 wis.
Now for a couple more questions:
The Shaman's Life Mystery and the Oracle's Life Mystery both offer "Life Link". The Oracle power is worded such that it can be used whenever an ally has taken at least 5 damage but the wording has changed for the Shaman. As stated it *seems* to now only effect that ally if their HP is somewhere in the thin range between (-5 to -CON)...which seems so useless I suspect it's a typo, but the Devs haven't weighed in yet. There's threads hotly debating the RAW and RAI of this wording. Since I'm considering a Life Shaman I thought I'd ask how you'd rule this. Thanks again!
EDIT:
Wow, one extra book is tricky! To be sure, does it include things like familiar choice (e.g. familiars come from various bestiaries, and even players guides, e.g. the hare comes from Reign of Winter), traits, drawbacks, & feats? I see there are some traits in APG. Are there any Drawbacks in any of the freely included books? I haven't found'm yet but don't own physical copies so am mostly just poking around the PRD.
In regards to the shaman, in the original playtest material, the shaman life link ability was worded the same as the oracle's, and I see absolutely no reason why it should be any other way. The official life link shaman looks lame and stupid, and I'll allow for you to treat it like the oracle's ability of the same name.
It gets a little tricky when you're used to the SRDs ^^. It includes everything, and there are no drawbacks in the material I listed.
As a note, the list of familiars is not exhaustive. I believe the list is there as a helpful tool of examples to get you to consider what kind of animal you have with you, so if you want a hare, I'm sure one of the core familiars can be "reskinned".
Ryder Craw is 100% completed and ready to be reviewed. Let me know what you think. Any and all criticism of his crunch/fluff is appreciated. Thanks!
Crunch: He's a powerhouse. As a gunslinger at level 5 and with dual revolvers.
Fluff: Enjoyable read. I have a clear picture of the man the character is.A question: is there a way we could work out me having a custom magic item? It would basically be a quiver with constant abundant ammunition (CL1 x 1st level spell x 2000 = 2000 total cost) that replenishes any arrow taken during a round on the next round. It's a nice way to not have to worry about closely tracking ammunition, but if you'd rather not it's totally fine.
...Also, do I have to roll for hit dice above 1, or can I just take average?
I forgot about my ammunitions houserule: Non-special ammunition is only tracked in games with the survival theme. This should solve that for you :)
You may roll, or you may take average. I leave that decision up to you.
What happens if I take the Rich Parents trait? Do I get some extra money because it gives extra starting money, or is it completely negated because everyone's wealth by level 5 is standardized?
(I need a measly 50gp extra for my equipment, any way I can get it.)
Also, when picking Intelligence bonus languages, may we also pick from Golarion regional languages like Hallit, Skald and so on, or just the ones that are RAW for that race, setting-neutral?
Rich parents increases your wealth, and you may pick from Golarion regional languages.
Thinking a halfling cleric of Groteus, focused on the Madness variant channeling from Ultimate Magic.
Interested in Carrion Hill by rumors of those terrifying monsters, eager to add them to his catalog of madness.
Sounds interesting. One thing you will have to spell out very clearly though, is his worldview and personality, his views on life and death and so on.

Oh dear, I hope you don't think he's too powerful or that I'm trying to powergame. I do build strong characters but I try not to make them overpowering.
Thanks! I was planning on just writing up a paragraph or two, but I started getting a little carried away. And I am elated at the avatar I found for him, it fits perfectly.

Don't worry. High numbers is one thing, breaking games is another. It was simply an observation :)

Perfect. :) Although the abundant ammunition quiver would have the advantage of replenishing things such as adamantine or cold iron arrows too, so I'm still very interested in it if you're willing to allow it. If not, totally cool. :)

For now no. I'm giving everyone the same baseline. It is definitely an option at a later time though.

Getting very close to done with my Life Shaman, just some edits and formatting at this point. This is a fun backstory to write!
One more question. My character is probably about 35 yrs old which makes him middle aged. Do you want me to just fluff that, but not adjust ability scores? Or shall I give him -1 to physical and +1 to mental stats? (I'm fine either way.)
Gianluca the Honeyed |
Gyrfalcon here, ready to present Aumus Karonus, Shaman of Life.
His one book is Familiar Folio, for the Protector familiar archetype.
I had fun coming up with a background to match the flavor of the game! Thanks for your consideration.
DM Runge |
DM Runge, I PM'd you with questions about rebuilding my old Alex Roivas character to avoid cluttering the thread. (Look for an envelope at the top of the forum)
If you don't have answers, no worries and I'll just submit my best guess.
Seen and repled to.
Okay, I hate to ask this because I feel like it sounds like a munchkiny/tweaky thing, but since my primary weapon is going to be a sword can: if I get a scabbard of vigor, can that be the cane part of the sword cane?
Sure. Seems reasonable to consider the sword cane's cane the scabbard.

Feel free to do either.
Great characters everyone, I look forward to giving all of them a thorough read :)

Question about sources.
Could I use Groteus, the god, without selecting Inner Sea Gods?
Or could I use this feat, Glimpse Beyond without taking Ultimate Campaign?
If I do manage to get it, would you let me have completed it already?
I'd say he's already quite insane.
I know I'm asking to bend the rules, but the feat is just too perfect with this character for me not to ask.
If you say no, that's cool.
I'll do without.

Ferratal is finally done. Ready to go. I ended up going with my rolled ability as I've already got a lot of speed stuff. Also I took your distribution for ability scores. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
Cydrius |
Definitely interested.
I have a character in the works, expect to see him some time tonight or tomorrow.
Question: Are you fine with small fiddly aspects of character creation (mostly the character math, such as skill modifiers and attack rolls, and the purchase of low-value mundane items) being left for after selection?
The character I'm thinking of would be a Halfling Duettist Bard (From the Familiar Folio) who only recently joined the Chtonian Chronicles, and is in way, way over his head.
Tsukitaro |
Introducing for your consideration: Tsukitaro!
The inspiration hit me and I thought he might make an interesting companion for this hunt. ;) Don't worry about him being too stuffy due to his Paladin ranks; as you can see, he has had an... interesting upbringing, and while he is devoted to the cause of Good, he is not unworldly.

Hi DM Runge!
This is my proposal for this, I hope you like it, please let me know of any questions or comments, and I hope I get selected.
Bigby of Ket
Neutral Good Human Ranger (Role: Damage Dealer, Guide)
The big man arrives to the inn, and looks for the rest of the group.
He sits in an empty chair and asks the innkeeper ofr a glass of wine.
"The dungeon has been inhabited by orcs, for the looks of the tracks. We will need to clean it up first if we want to look for the lower levels. But I don't have time. The inheritor's day is almost upon us, and I need to go home to visit my family. I will get back in 10 days. Don't do it without me, I wouldn't like to miss the fun."
Born in a small village in Ustalav, a middle children of a well to do farmer family, Bigby quickly decided that was not the live for him. He managed to get his hands on some equipment (using some money granted to him by his father, which couldn't have the adventuring life he wanted like his son, and honed his skills to become a guide, especially in ruins, caves, and dungeons. His fame grew enough to get the attention of the Chtonian Chroniclers, which recruit him. He has been very happy with the group, having the life of excitement and adventure he wanted since he was a small boy. Every year, on the Day of Inheritor he goes back home, with small trinkets and many histories, to visit his family, especially his father, which made all of this possible.
He looks like a sturdy bearded man, reaching middle age, but in the prime of physical prowess. His equipment always well taken for, and his personality, if jovial and optimistic, is always very professional. He likes wine more than beer, dislikes baked goods, and enjoys a good song
I used your array, with the +2 human bonus and the +1 level 4 bonus.
I took no drawbacks.
I "gave" the character the Power Attack and the Deadly Aim feats to "model" your house rules in PCGen.

I think I am going to have to drop out of this one.
Got too swamped with other stuff, sorry.Good luck, guys!
Sorry to hear that. Good luck with your other stuff :)

Interesting character. I was a bit shocked with your spell list though, you would probably be better served with only your prepared spells.

Hm... I'd failed to notice the "core plus one book" restriction, which makes the build I'd envisioned a little problematic. I will be stepping down from contention.
Good luck and have fun, everyone!
That's alright, maybe some other time :)

I'm usually not big on goblins, but this one is quite a fresh experience. Kudos to you!

Neutral Good Human Ranger (Role: Damage Dealer, Guide) ...
You have him written in as a level 1 on the character page, but other than that it looks fine, albeit a bit short :)
Thinking an Oracle of the Dark Tapestry. now, to pick my extra book
I look forward to the finished product
Thank you Rennai, it was quite a pleasant and productive trip :)

Ah. That is normally what I do. This was just my impression of CampinCarl's guide was asking for. I will gladly fix that.

To those I have not responded to directly: Sorry about that. As I made the list, I realized I had overseen a few posts. I'll try not to let that happen again.
There are still a few days left until I close recruitment, so those who are still working have time to finish :)

Lethaleen Tends to be quiet and reserved around people he doesn’t know, though once he opens up he is extremely charming. He tries to be cautious, knowing from personal expiriance what can happen when you act without thinking, although sometimes his natural impulsiveness and impatience take over. He wants to understand what happened to him on the fateful night when he gained his powers, and help as many people as he can along the way.
Unwelcome in the village, and with his parents and most of his friends dead Lethaleen set out for Absolom to seek his fortunes and understand Lethaleen’s strange new powers. While he quickly mastered their use, the origin of Lethaleen’s powers proved more difficult to uncover; He joined the Pathfinder society, and was invited into The Chtonian Chroniclers, references in their archives lead him to forgotten caverns beneath Absolom itself; there he found References to the Dark Tapestry, the Outer Gods and the enigmatic Dominions of the Black unsettled and , and filled with questions, he began to experience strange and disturbing nightmares. Before he could investigate further, Lethaleen was assigned to Ustalav, and the town of Carrion hill, to investigate reports of a recently awakened eldritch beast, and to stop it, if they can.
My book is "Inner Sea Magic"
DM Runge |
I have finished reading everyone's submissions. I've gone with a group that I felt gives a sense of "desperate times".
CampinCarl9127 as Ryder Craw
A man with a rough live behind him, and a rougher live ahead.
Dave Herman as Kevos Iola
This man has probably seen enough to drive most common men insane.
Aebliss as Tsukitaro
The Chtonian Chroniclers are not picky, and if the goblin offers his services, they will be accepted.
YanJieming as Ferratal
Wild at heart but tempered by his experiences, this young man may be a balm to the souls of his wounded companions.
I will open a Discussion thread in a moment, join me there and we will discuss a few details and answer a few questions.
To the ones that weren't selected: I thank you all for your interest, it has meant a lot to me. I hope you find a game to enjoy. I have catalogued your names for the future, maybe we will see each other then :)
