This campaign is my attempt to play a canonical Planescape campaign using the updated Pathfinder ruleset. The game actually predates the release of Pathfinder, but we have managed to update as we have needed.

Swift gives a small nod at Mystery and tries not to look too disappointed that she's not seen Skrint in too long and probably won't get chance to track him down whilst on this salt job, especially if she has to keep an eye on Emelia and go reclaim her box before the week is up.

With no replies or rebuttals Karrin decides to quite while she's ahead. She quickly returns to the Copper Cauldron Inn, and upon discovering the kitchens closed for the night, returns to her room and gets ready for bed. Karrin does a bit of tidying, making sure Blacky's box is empty so her cat has a nice warm place to sleep, then Karrin crawls into bed, pulls the covers up around her, and then grabs her belt pouch (of never ending rations) and eats till she's tired . . . then passes out in a lovely food coma.

Nothing unusual or unhealthy about that I'm sure. :O

That too! I think Karrin needs either a parent/ mentor figure in her life . . . either that or a significant other. Basically she needs a Burt to her Ernie ;)

Hi folks, bear with me, having RL issues right now, hope to be posting updates tomorrow.

Edwin sips his tea and asks:

"So what are your plans this Antipeak Swift? It sounds like you have been having a lot of excitement since you took on your 'boring' job! What will you do next?"

All good now, just having a bit of a bout with bronchitis. Me, wife and daughter all caught it, it's been a rough ride this week. Things are on the upswing now, hopefully I will be posting a little more.

After going over plans for the next day with Renkar, the three portaljackers retire to their rooms to rest quietly. After Antipeak Eir comes rolling into Copper Court. The Silver Rose looks locked up, a note posted to the door.

Loose end taken care of. Retired for night. Meet again come Peak at breakfast at CC. --R

Maybe Hanali could give her some 'Lady of Society' training. (perhaps for a future case) That would be something worth seeing! You and Patrick would run with it, and I can hear Kruelaid's commentary as well.

SNORT! I need to get Hanali cracking on this project ASAP! In fact I think I will!

(female Tiefling 7th level Duskblade)

Does anything unusual happen in the night? Or are we waiting for character to get caught up (and people to finish moving)?

(Bribes always welcome)

Actually I was waiting on Swift and Zigel to wrap up their side stuff, but I think I will formulate a small side trip with you Greep, Hanali and Ffethpaar. I liked your idea of Eliza Dolittling Karrin, and it would fit into several side plots I have in my scheming monkey brain. I will post up tomorrow.

(Bribes always welcome)

OK, been thinking over the next day's travails while battling the yardwork. It seems that everyone is split for now. My question is, until everyone gets what they want done, do we want to split up a bit more?

Karrin, you could train etiquette with Hanali, I think that could be interesting.

Greep you wanted to visit Lizzieville in the morning, correct?

Ffethpaar you can go with either or try something all your own.

Swift you seem to want to follow up on the Emelia side adventure, or perhaps look up your beau Skrint.

Zigel/Seeker is having connection problems, I have him safely ensconsed in a sidetrek already.

Kruelaid is still MIA with moving. I am going to assume Eir just goes to sleep until he returns.

Until everyone can get back on board perhaps we should just run some side adventures.

Crossposting this on discussion thread.

Ffethpaar still has an appointment with Laralie in the Swordhold district. If there is time he could go there. He also has his special mug to pick up (if it's ready). But the kippers come first.

Ah yes, had forgotten that appointment. Also, your mug should be ready. Very well, to the kippers!

Zzzzzz.

En?

Annnnnnn. Snuggle, snuggle.

(female Tiefling 7th level Duskblade)

Karrin wakes early the next morning. Her body trained to wake just before the sun so her chores might be finished before breakfast. As a mercenary her chores are not quite as demanding as they had been when she had a dozen or so animals to look after and water and wood to fetch but Karrin cherishes her habits as they remind her of home.

Karrin crawls out of bed and quickly says her prayers. Then she preforms her morning stretches, followed by one hundred push ups, one hundred belly crunches, and then she piles all her gear on one side of the bed and then she does one hundred deep knee lifts using the bed as resistance. She washes her face and hands before practically bounding down the stairs to check on breakfast.

(Bribes always welcome)

Karrin awakes after a confusing night of half-remembered dreams. Somehow she forgot that pesky axe in her bed again! She shrugs and pushes it aside to do her exercises.

After working up a healthy appeitite, Karrin bounds down the the Copper Cauldron's common room. The room is abuzz with locals getting a quick meal before setting out on Peaktime chores. Ramona smiles and seats Karrin at a large table.

"I imagine yeh'll be wanting summat fer breakfast Karrin?" Ramona asks Karrin. "I'm sure the rest of yer folks will be down soon."

(Bribes always welcome)

Eir wakes up at the crack of Peak. Yawning, she can hear Karrin chanting faintly next door:

"Ninety FIVE! Ninety SIX!"

Rising from the warm bed, Eir dresses in her street clothes and splashes a bit of water on her face. She brushes out her hair and arrainges it to frame her face.

(Bribes always welcome)

Ffethpaar rises and breathes gently, welcoming the brightening day into his soul. He rises and stretches a bit, then feeling the emptiness of his stomache like a flaccid satchel he decides to look for some early morning kippers.

(Bribes always welcome)

Greep wakes from a dream of his days in the astral caravan to the grey light of Before Peak. He can hear his companions starting their morning routines. He yawns and looks for his gear. Dressing hastily, he smells the unmistakable odor of kippers wafting up from the common room.

"I got to get you identified," Karrin says to her new axe, "and you should learn to say out of my bed. If I should ever get married this will be very awkward."

After her morning exercises Karrin bounds down the stairs and happy responds to Ramona's mention of food:

"You Bet!" Karrin says with a smile, as she plops down at the groups usual table, "I'll have one of everything on the breakfast menu for starters and we'll see how I'm feeling after that. Oh, and me, Greep, and especially Ffethpaar, want kippers if you have them."

(neuter Robbit (variant halfling with reptilian appearence) Rogue2 / Wizard (transmuter) 1)

"Good morning, Karrin. Sleep well?" -greep- "Good morning, Ramona. How is everyone this fine morning?"

(Bribes always welcome)

Ramona starts outlaying provender at the table as the group begins to arrive downstairs. A large platter of kippers, a plate of pancakes, a rasher of bacon, fried tomato slices, heaps of scrambled eggs, a small wheel of Bytopian Red cheese, a pot of fresh coffee, and an ewer of cool water are the firt things to arrive.

As the group begins to tuck in Renkar arrives, Mercutio draped on his shoulder. He makes his way towards the table.

(female Tiefling 7th level Duskblade)

Greep wrote:
"Good morning, Karrin. Sleep well?" -greep- "Good morning, Ramona. How is everyone this fine morning?"

By the time Greep arrives Karrin has already clasped her hands together in prayer and has already started eating. A few fragments of pancakes dot her face.

"M'orming," Karrin says with a smile, "I slept all right," she says between chews, "but we had a really big day yesterday and that nap didn't help. I was tiered. That was good work by the way. That magic you used really saved the day! No way those goblins were going to catch us after that! Oh, and your friend Quint was a huge help as well! Great work. You're really a big help to the team."

Karrin quickly turns her attention back to the food.

"I hope the others get down soon . . . their breakfasts are getting all cold . . . and eaten."

(Female Tibbit Rogue 3)

Swift looks torn between her options of checking in on Emelia and perhaps chasing up Skrint. Eventually deciding that she's much too good to be doing the one doing the chasing and if he doesn't like her enough to send any sort of message then she can do better.

But.. on the other hand a walk in the forest district wouldn't go amiss..

Purring a little at her daydreaming of a chance encounter with the male catfolk she grins brightly at Edwin. "I'm thinking of taking a little me-time as Mystery here is doing a wonderful job on the Emelia front for me"

(Male Lizardfolk Lizardfolk/2, Cleric/1)

Ffethpaar appears soon after Karrin. Greets everyone there and then notices that someone is eating kippers.

"Good morning everybody. I feel as if I have finally had enough sleep." To greep "I am well thankyou and I hope you are too. And Ramona, if you have any kippers spare I would entreat a plate or two of them, if that is not too much bother and that will be a perfect start to the day."

Eir slinks in a little late and greets everyone dryly.

You're really a big help to the team."

Greep, blue-dyed lizard that he is, blushes at these kind words.

"You are too Kind, Karrin." hee-hee -greep- "I cannot claim the credit- It was a trick my old Master taught me. When you are our height, it is sometimes necessary to plan ahead to insure escape. Unfortunately, it is not a trick I can do again. Only two charges are left on my wand."

-GreeP-

"So what are our plans for the day?" -greep- "In general only; I would suggest we wait until we get to the office to discuss details. It would be amiss for us to assume our foes would not come looking for us, and we should not allow danger to come to our hosts by letting them overhear anything specific."

-gREEp-

(female Tiefling 7th level Duskblade)

Karrin greets Ffethpaar and Eir as they join the table.

Karrin shoves the plate of kippers over to the lizardman as he joins the table.

"There you go," Karrin says with a smile, "the best breakfast fish around. I don't know where they catch them but they sure are tasty." Yes I know kippers are actually a way of preserving herrings, but Karrin obviously does not,

"Morning Eir," Karrin says, a bit anxious to make nice with the young priestess after leaving her alone with the goblin yesterday, "you're looking good this morning. Have you done anything special with your hair or something? Looks nice. You'll be happy to know we took care of that smelly little pest last night. He's gone now. I hope you're not still mad about yesterday."

When Greep brings up work Karrin leans forward and speaks in hushed tone so that only those at the table might pick up what she's saying.

"We need to track stuff down," Karrin says, "follow up on all those leads our goblin friend gave us. You know, all the leg work before our next big job, which will probably be shutting down this slave and spice ring but good . . ."

Edwin and Swift chat amiably for the rest of the early Before Antipeak hours. As the evening deepens (8 PM) Mystery meeps farewell and goes out the door. Although Edwin seems worried, Swift, remebering her promise, convinces him to let the small cat loose. The two then wind down their conversation.

You want to take a walk to the Forest District Swift? You are an entire evening behind the rest at this point

Renkar and Mercutio walk up to the several folks gathered at the Before Peak breakfast table. Mercution leaps off his shoulders and starts humming around mooching bites of breakfast. Renkar smiles at the assembled folks.

"I can see the early risers are about. I wanted to tell you all I think you are doing quite well, considering you are all new at this."

Renkar looks left and right

"I also have some interesting news we can discuss after breakfast at the Silver Rose."

Renkar signals to Ramona.

"A mug of Dragon Tea and some Fhorge sausages with hash browns please Ramona."

Mercutio hovers over the group, his orange black-striped wings fluttering rapidly.

"MM yum-yum-yummy! Pancakes for Mercutio's tummy!"

The small Faerie Dragon hovers by Karrin, giving her a sad doe-eyed look.

"Nice-nice Karrin give Mercutio some pancakies?"

Eir sparks a panatella for breakfast.

"Coffee?"

Ramona looks over at Eir.

"Coming up Eir. Any grub for yeh? Or yeh want to sample what's out there already?"

"There you go," Karrin says pouring syrup for the tiny dragon, "you should eat something Eir. Father always said that breakfast was the most important meal of the day and I never miss it if I can help it. I'm not saying to eat as much as me, but maybe have a piece of fruit or something, cuz we work in a dangerous profession, and you might never know when you'll get your next meal."

looking at Eir
"Would you like some kippers?" -greep- "Here, take mine; I haven't touched them."
greep looks relieved to find someone who might take them off his hands.
Sorry Ffethpaar, but the thought of eating fish for breakfast doesn't excite me- Let alone eating a 'preserved herring'. niel is not a big fan of fish.
"Coffee for me too, please."

-grEEp-

(Bribes always welcome)

The group works their way through breakfast in a disorganized chaotic manner, with a moochy dragon and cigar-smoking priestess counterpointing the happy scene.

After the last of the provender is cleared up, Renkar clears his throat and packs his battered pipe.

"Back to the Silver Rose everyone? I believe we can begin without Zigel or Swift today. I'm sure they will catch up with us later."

Renkar gets up and Mercutio settles on his shoulder, burping loudly.

Eir snacks on a kipper after she finishes her cigar.
