This campaign is my attempt to play a canonical Planescape campaign using the updated Pathfinder ruleset. The game actually predates the release of Pathfinder, but we have managed to update as we have needed.

Justin groans, then smirks mirthlessly.

"Karrin, we need to have a serious talk about your idea of 'fun'!"

"What could be more fun then getting big and pushing people around?"

Human Wiz 8

Justin holds up a finger and opens his mouth.
He shuts it.
He lowers his finger and shrugs.

"What? WHen she's right, she's right!"

Male Human (Athasian) Cleric 9

Not as cheap as I thought ... Got Internet tonight as I sit in Torino, still, when I lag, move me along.

Ekuur's attention is drawn to the shapes. "Something to help," he says to Karrin, before she charges into the fray. He touches her shoulder, casting death ward on her. He then ignites the flames on his tribal.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25

The foggy forms separate and spread out. Suddenly, the scene shimmers in front of their eyes

Will Save all please

Justin blinks,

"Wait, what?!?"

Issac:

Spoiler:
A sibilant voice calls to you: The Goblin slavemaster is coming to kill you. Kill him first!.

Issac sees the goblin overseer from his time in Acheron advancing, whip at the ready.

[ooc]Issac has been Dominated and is under the control of the creature.

Justin shakes his head as odd whispers echo in his thoughts. He sees Issac start and turn on him with an odd look on his face, icy greatsword raised

Human Wiz 8

"WHat?" Justin asks with his usual smirk.

"Isaaaaac? What is it?" Justin asks more seriously, slowly taking a step back,...

Seph:

Spoiler:
Seph suddenly feels the surface of Yggdrasil shoot away from him. Somehow, he has ended up on a thin thin branch high above the battle. He can just make out the small ant-like movements of others below and the hideous pucker of the Warpwood. The branch is literally as thich as his wrist, and it sways alarmingly.

Seph is now Dominated and believes he is on a high branch.

Naridre:

Spoiler:
Nari's vision wavers and she finds herself in a very familiar place. It is her father's 'training' room. In front of her, tied to one of his vertical frameworks is a naked sobbing female, blood seeping from several deep whip slashes. He father looms behind her, snarling

"Take the whip! Master your weakness and discipline this slave!"

Nari turns and sees his brutal face. A voice within her whispers softly

He will never stop. Use your power to end his evil

Nari has been >Dominated< and is now under the illusion that Ekuur is her father.

Ekuur sees Nari turn to him, eyes glowing

Karrin:

Spoiler:
Karrin suddenly finds herself back in the monastery of Rao. Her foster father Kron the Kind lies on the floor bleeding. A huge Yeti stands above him, crude axe poised to administer the coup de grace. A small voice whispers

Defend your father! Strike the Yeti down!

Karrin is Dominated and thinks that Rhiannon is a yeti

Rhiannon sees Karrin's huge form turn to her, blue axe raised high.

Spoiler:
Is it dominate person or dominate monster as Dominate person wouldent work on Seph due to him being a magical beast?

female elan Psion (Kineticist) 9

Her hair and skin shimmered as she called forth power from her mind, desperately attempting to take control of the hated figure of her father before he could hurt her again.

DC 20 Will save for Ekuur vs Control Body.

Male Half-elf (Planar) Ranger 5/Rogue 2/Plane Walker 1

"Vherleghes ghotreg kaar'vohdrek!",Isaac mutters darkly before swinging a lethal arc at Justin with his greatsword.
Goblin:

Spoiler:
"I'll take your lashes if you eat my sword!"

Frost Greatsword: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 162d6 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 4 + (6) = 19

Frost Greatsword 2, if I can full attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 192d6 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (5, 2) + 4 + (4) = 15

female Tiefling 9th level Duskblade

"Yeti!" Karrin yells looking straight at Rhiannon, "Don't worry father I'll save you!"

Karrin casts swift expeditious retreat to cover the distance and then, because she's using a cold axe against a creature that's likely immune to cold, she attempts to grapple it:

CMB: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26

Human Wiz 8

"I've got a baaaaad feeling about this,..." Justin says as Isaac turns to face him squarely.

"Oh POWERS I hate it when I'm right!" JUstin cries as he holds up his left fist, the small disk of force from his ring meeting the greatsword in a shower of sparks,...

With the HAste spell I have exactly 16AC (I hadn't gotten to cast my mage armor yet!) :( I think that means he hit me. If he gets the second attack, he definitely hit me! ;P

Seph:

Spoiler:
The power combines the Domination plus Mirage Arcana. Since Seph is technically not 'human' I will assume he is immune to commands, but the creature had just basically 'parked' him on an (illusionary) branch to keep him from doing anything.

male Catfolk

Seph lets out a mew of suprise transfirms into humanoid form and attempts to grab and hold onto the branch for dear life.

Female catfolk sorceror 9

"Guys what are you all doing?"

Merle looks around utterly confused as the party all seem to turn on each other even more so when she see's what Seph does "What the hells is going on here?"

If she has time and if she notices she will cast greater Invisability on Justin "W-what do we do?" she yells completly out of her depth here.

Male Human (Athasian) Cleric 9

Will 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (16) + 13 = 29

Shrugging off Nari's attempts to control him, Ekuur is fairly certain of some sort of mind control. He targets Nari with dispel magic, and seeing Merle's uncertainty, he exclaims, "Our weak-willed friends are not themselves. Try to dispel the magic, if you can. Otherwise, we must disable them or the controlling creatures!"

Caster level 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

female Tiefling 9th level Duskblade

This is why I always had a break enchantment spell memorized when I played through the STAP, I was the only spell caster amongst fighters, rogues, and fighter/rogues. At level 15 I think a +5 Will save was considered good for them. This party is no where near as bad. However we did all roll incredibly bad.

Male Human (Athasian) Cleric 9

Damn! I totally forgot I have communal protection from evil memorized, which would totally be the better play here. Pat, if there's any chance of a recon on my actions, I would better off spending a move action to get within touch space of as many of our controlled friends as possible, then casting the spell on them (plus myself and any non-controlled folks as possible). The duration is divided up among everyone touched, but otherwise functions as the normal protection from evil. Those who are controlled get a new save, with a +2 morale bonus. If you'd rather not retcon, then take that as my next round actions (since I'll be back offline most of tomorrow as I fly back home).

Go ahead and retcon. Due to the crappy rolls I am afraid this might tip into a TPK. I'd rather it didn't. I will have a map up today, in shah Allah.

Male Human (Athasian) Cleric 9

Just before casting dispel magic, Ekuur remembers his spell. He rushes forward and touches as many of the charmed as possible, giving them a second chance at freedom.

ok, Ekuur casts communal protection from evil. The total duration is 8 minutes, divided evenly among everyone he can touch (DM prerogative) including himself. Those under influence gain a new save at +2. In addition, everyone gets a +2 on AC and saves.

male Catfolk

Second save (Assuming Seph gets it)

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Male Half-elf (Planar) Ranger 5/Rogue 2/Plane Walker 1

New save if I can: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Maybe Justin won't die again!

female Tiefling 9th level Duskblade

Will 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Perhaps Rhiannon won't be going to dreamland curtsy of giant Karrin Kind

Bribes always welcome

I am assuming that you were all close enough to touch, so although Ekuur can't stop the other's actions this round (he is at the bottom of the iniative pile) he does break the evil spell the others have fallen under. Still trying to get thsat map up, stay tuned. =)

Issac's sword bites into the slender wizard's frame, drawing a gout of blood that freezes into an arc of red ice. Karrin grabs at Rhiannon with her large arms, squeezing tight. Nari glares at Ekuur, eyes blazing green fire.

Nari you also get another save. Also, is Sanna about? You took her along as well, yes?

Now I am assuming that the CMB worked here. I think Mark/Rhiannon may be otherwise occupied.

Ekuur raises his hands, and heat shimmers off them. He runs to the ensorcelled party members and strikes them shouting

"LEVEX MALSVIR!"

Issac, Karrin, and Seph blink as the faux worlds they were trapped in dissolve around them, leaving them back in the fog-shrouded bark of Yggdrasil. They blanch and stop whatever they were compelled to do.

Whoops, I forgot to roll a save for Sanna earlier. Yes, she's still with the group. She's intending to leave as soon as this is dealt with, but universe destroying stuff does tend to concern her. She like the universe, it's where she keeps her stuff. ;)

Sanna Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

female elan Psion (Kineticist) 9

Nari's second will save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17

female Tiefling 9th level Duskblade

I think Karrin had Rhiannon not only beat in initiative but I'm pretty sure she had a roll high enough to beat her CMD. This was the first round of Combat so Rhiannon would even have been flat footed. But I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have mattered.

"What happened?" Karrin asks as she glances down at the former yeti now cavalier, "Compulsion magic! Everyone on their guards!"

Human Wiz 8

"Yeah,... What she said,..." Justin manages to cough out. There is red spittle on his lips, and he clutches the cut in his side painfully.

Thank the little gaming gods for bonuses to save throws! :)

Female Human Cavalier 8 (Order of the Dragon)

Init1d20 ⇒ 15
Will 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11

Yeah, my CMB's 21 so you definitely pulled off the grapple.

female Tiefling 9th level Duskblade

I think I may need to hold onto Rhiannon till she's no longer crazy :)

Karrin Kind wrote:

That's bad, because what she'd do next round is pretty wicked.

2nd save with bonus 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

OK, looks like only Nari is still affected by the Visages

Nari:

Spoiler:
Nari's father screams in her face
"You would pit your feeble mind agaist me? Foolish child. I will dominate you and YOU will kill this slave, cook her corpse and eat it!"

Four of the misty masked beings encircle the group, a faint susurrus of whispers issuing from them

>>New Map<<

You are all together, and now I just have to get the initiatives straight ..

Human Wiz 8

Justin looks at the wispy figures who are WAY closer than he would like them to be,...

"Oh, this can't be good,..."

Bribes always welcome

Initiative:

Visages: 25 [mindfreak]
Issac: 12 [atk justin]
Merle: 9 [pending]
Seph: 9 [pending]
Karrin: 8 [grapple Rhiannon]
Justin: 8 [Pending]
Naridre: 8 [Control Body]
Sanna: 8 [pending]
Ekuur: 5 [protection spell]
Rhiannon: 5 [Pending]

Justin, Sanna, Merle, Seph and Rhiannon still have actions.

Sanna's eyes glow gold as she looks at the apparition nearest her.

Manifesting Energy Ball on the one in o32 since there's no way to catch more than one of these things in the radius without also hitting party members. Augmenting with one pp.

A crackling ball of electricity appeared around the apparition, zapping it with bright sparking bolts before sizzling into nothingness.

Damage: 8d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 1, 5, 6, 3, 5, 3) = 30
DC 21 Reflex for half

Female catfolk sorceror 9

Merle moves around (N25 and puts a lightning bolt through both creatures

8d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 1, 3, 3, 5, 1, 3) = 28 Dc 18 for half

Male Cat

Seph returns to cat form and moves to get out of the way (I 29)

Bribes always welcome

Sanna: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22

Merle: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 261d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

The electrical attacks elicit a series otherworldly screeches from the terrible misty forms. They can see the weird masks shift and sprout wide mouths that gnash long bloody fangs

Merle I'll need a pair of caster checks as well please.

Human Wiz 8

"Ohcrud!" Justin spits, and holds out one hand in a warding gesture. (His other is still clutching his wounded side.)

A Wall of fire springs up in front of him, catching the two closest creatures in it's flames.

Using my 8th lvl evocation ability Elemental Wall (It's a wall of fire that can be fire, cold, acid or electricity, up to 8 rnds /day, non-consecutive) I draw it between the two at at O32 & R33. The spell description says that catching a creature in the wall counts as them passing through it for damage, so 2d6 +11 (effective CL for fire spells, +8 if only actual lvl counts) +4 (Intense Evocation power) on the creatures, and 2 caster level checks. :)

Fire dmg to creatures in wall: 2d6 + 15 ⇒ (6, 1) + 15 = 22

caster level checks:
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14

If CL checks are required for the critters, Sanna will need to make one as well. Psionics transparency and all that.:)

CL check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

Ah I had thought from reading the power, there was a 'Power resistance' that dealt with psionics
