Guys, I am commissioning a portrait of our group. If you folks could post up here a detailed description of your characters as you see them, I would appreciate it. I know some of you have done this before, but I'd love to get an updated version. It's by our old alumnus James Keegan.
Sent you a note

Oh, nice, I'll remind everyone what Karrin looks like:
Karrin's horns have been trimmed and capped with silver, her skin has a slight reddish tinge, and some of her teeth seem slightly longer and sharper then a normal human - especially her canines! She is slender and slight but her body is deceptively strong. With her hair down and her teeth hidden Karrin could pass as human in the right lighting . . . Unfortunately the girl seems to be perpetually smiling.
Karrin has tattoos and piercings, generic upper arm tattoos, mostly to fit in with the rough and tumble mercenaries she used to work with. She wears an armored breastplate, wields a crystal great axe (Ferissirion), and has a bulky spiked gauntlet on her right hand (Mitt), and a short bow and a quiver of arrows on her belt (which she has never used in the 9 years I've been playing her).
Karrin doesn't have hooves, goat legs, and seeing as it's never come up, I don't think she has a tail either. She's mostly human looking, save for her horns and teeth. She's only 5'4 tall
Arnav Longarm |
Arnav was human once, but he has been stretched and twisted out of normal proportions. It's as if he was pulled like taffy. Twisted into his flesh are stone and brass. Interspersed through his body are green crystals that don't seem to have been distorted like the rest of him.
He would be about 7' if he was straightened out, but he seems hunched over to the side, with one leg shorter than the other. His arms are almost as long as his body, with hands larger than they should be. His face is pulled down and curves a bit at the bottom. He's got sandy blonde hair that's kept short. One eye is blue and the other one is purple.
Fine chainmail covers him, seemingly made for his odd shape. He carries a long blade (nodachi) of bright green crystal, scaled for his arms and hands instead of his body.
Thank you for doing this. Let me know if you have any questions.
lynora |
Nari appears to be a petite, young human girl with red hair, green eyes, and pale skin. She doesn't wear any armor, opting instead for bracers of armor. Her clothing is more practical than fashionable, and she is usually dressed in black, or other dark colors. She does wear some jewelry: a headband made of wirework and set with small stones, a ring shaped like a feather, a necklace that is just a stone on a simple leather string. Otherwise she seems to avoid decorative items. She carries a bow and quiver.
This is how I picture her.
And of course, she is usually hiding behind either Karrin, Justin, or Merle due to her extreme shyness. :)

Pretty cool, Pat! Thanks! From Ekuur's description:
"Ekuur ... looks more like a bronze sculpture than a man. Standing 6' 3" and weighing 222 lbs, he is heavily muscled and broad-shouldered. His body is completely hairless; not because he shaves, but because the constant heat he has dealt with in his life has burnt it off and it no longer grows. His skin is a deep bronze in color, and his eyes are a light amber."
I guess I always envisioned him as being similar to Teal'c from the Stargate SG1 tv show, with the changes described above (and no forehead symbol). A few other notes: he wears bronzed half-plate, and his obsidian orb holy symbol is around his neck and constantly surrounded by a bluish flame that never consumes it.
Blayze |
The type of person you’d likely hear about in a song, Blayze is almost instantly the subject of attention in just about any room she enters. Tall for a woman, (5’9) and blessed with a curvaceous yet athletic build, she tends to stand and move with a natural swagger, her body language boasting the relaxed confidence of someone expecting to be able to handle anything that might come up. Silver eyes and skin like polished bronze, highlight the aura of other-worldliness she emanates, the few spots of exposed skin (Upper decolletage and face) are adorned with intricately patterned tattoos in celestial script on her left side, the one on her face going through her eye. Perhaps her most notable feature, is her hair, platinum blond on one side and raven black on the other, perfectly framing her face and falling to just touch her collar.
Usually dressed is functional yet stylish black studded leather, including a duster of similar design, she wears a rather large, double barelled pistol on her left hip, the weapon sitting with practiced ease. Full length black and gold gloves with silver metal fingers adorn her hands, while her waist bears a combination belt/bandolier, dominated by a holy symbol buckle

Updated Description;
Justin is slightly taller than Ekuur, only about 6'4", Maybe 6'5" with heavy boot heels on, but Justin is so skinny compared to the bronze giant that when you look at them apart he seems a lot taller.
Justin is tall, lean, and always hungry-looking, like a good stiff breeze might blow him over. He wears heavy traveling clothes (pants, shirt, Heavy boots, etc) in earthy tones. He is almost never without his long, heavy leather (trench)coat with it's hood. Under his coat you can see a baldric across his chest, being used as a bandolier for a couple of scrolls and potions, and supporting a longsword with a large skull motif on the crossguard. (A trophy from his early/first adventures with the group, Which I don't think he's used in the last 5 levels?) :)
Visible on top of his shirt is a large lucky coin on a chain (necklace) It was a gift from his parents and now his last link to his old world, and his bound item. He keeps his goatee neatly trimmed (usually) and his hair has grown out slightly, still ending before his collar, and kept out of his eyes by his Headband of Int. (I see it as a simple brown or black leather band with a metal pin/buckle of a magic symbol on the front. Like a tiny belt for your head!) :)
If you zoom in for details, he wears a large, magical ring on each hand, and his Coat lapels are studded with half a dozen pins, gems etc. All magical. You might see the head of a hippogryph statue or wand sticking out of a coat pocket.
And of course now he likely has a full-sized crystal skull hovering nearby. Peering bravely over his shoulder. ;P

Back at you, pilgrim. Justin finally got the skull he wanted?

I think Karrin looks good James, though I would take a bit of the length of Mitt off, maybe one or even two of the rings so we can see Karrin's forearm. I love the food near her. Maybe make her expression a bit more cheerful and less serious, give her a smile, but I really love how bulky you made Mitt, and Karrin's horns are nice and big. If you could side her ax in there as well that would be great but no pressure.
Also, is that Karrin's oblivious crush Isaac at the end?
Anyways, left to right I see: Renkar (the team's boss), Justin, his skull friend, under the table is Seph, Ekuur, Merle, Blayze, Hamar, Karrin, Arnav, Naridre, and maybe Isaac.
Edit: it just occured to me that Justin needs to be a lot more lanky, he's taller then Ekuur who he's sitting next to. I'd imagine him hunching over, looking at his cards, but before we got Arnav Justin was the tallest member of the group. The wizard was the biggest target.

NPC? *pfft*
You all are NPCs in *MY* adventure
Hah. I don't think I gave Hamar's description. Will try to do that today...
Storyteller Shadow |
Hamar Description, sorry for the delay, the Boards and Life has kept me quite busy!
Hamar is a tall Human, standing 6’5’ but think and wiry weighing only 165 lbs. He is lightning quick on his feet and thinks just as quickly. He is quick to anger and slow to understand life lessons as his mouth often leads him into trouble. The right and left side of his head is shaved leaving a long mane of hair that flows down his back similar to the hair on a Hyenas back. His eyes burn with a light brown intensity to match his skin. From the numerous battles has has fought, his body is a criss-cross of wounds and scars.

Yes thank you! I have always wanted to play this character so I am happy that I was given the chance. Great group of characters and players!

I'm the grizzled old vet that's been here since day one with Patrick. I can show you the scars.
Thanks for giving me a game where I can pretend to be a grizzled old vet in the OOC section Pat, and a game where I can play a tiefling who plays dumb and crazy, occasionally likes to disguise herself, and eats like there were ten of her. Karrin is a ton of fun but having a diverse group of characters for her to bounce off of is equally rewarding. You're the backbone of this game obviously, and as a result you've also collected a great bunch of players that fill out the game completely.

Just a heads up folks. I am going through yet another round of personal issues. I apologize since it feels as if I am forever posting apologies, but these past couple of years have thrown me some real curveballs.
I am on track to graduate next month and start job hunting. Assuming that I can find a job quickly, I hope to have my life more in tune. However, I still have to get through all that.
Does this mean I wont post? Not at all. However, it might mean I am a bit slow on the updates. Please bear with me and hopefully I will have my life settled and rolling ahead in an orderly fashion by the end of summer.
Thank you all again for sticking with me. I do enjoy GMing you all and I hope to do it for many a year to come.

No worries Monkey! :-)

Losing a dog is one of the hardest things you can do. They're like children. They're family. With a fellow human you can say goodbye, if there's time there's also closure, but with a pet it always seems to feel like you didn't get ever express how much they meant to you in life. I'll hope for a safe operation and a speedy recovery.

Muttzarella came through the surgery well. She had an inch long stone in her bladder that was all spiky. And that's in a 17lb dog!
But she's feeling much better. She's in the cone of shame for 10 more days but everything looks good. Plus she gets peanut butter to make sure she takes her pills.
Thanks for all your well wishes.
