You know, I'm starting to feel like coming back to this game. (Mainly, I just feel like playing something 3.5-ish.) But, if/when I come back, I don't think it'll be with Swire. I was feeling disconnected with the character before I took this hiatus, and that certainly didn't help any. Really, just have Swire sod off after this particular adventure if you could realistically have him do that. I'll probably have another roguish character to insert in by then.

No problem Davi. If your character doesn't excite you by all means make another. I can have Swire hie off into NPC land. He'll be a good contact should the group ever need to contact the Takers.
Patrick Curtin |
Hey Patrick I'm wondering if there is a way for me to contact you. I have something I want to discuss about Merle. Or would you prefer it done via spoilers here?
You can either do spoilers or contact me at my general mailbox:
Just tell me if you send me an email: That box gets crowded =)

Thanks. At some point I was only posting out of a sense of obligation, and that's no way to play. I mean, I still want to play in this game, I just realized Swire had no reason to even be going on this adventure. He never had much of a reason to even be in this game, now that I think of it.
Also, thanks to Keegan for running Swire while I was off getting my head together.
Anyway, character ideas.
-If you're willing to risk adding some more 3.5 stuff in, a Factotum(from Dungeonscape) Your standard vaguely-Indiana Jones type of adventurer, runs into tombs to get valuable artifacts and all that jazz. Probably a Prime who just got to Sigil recently and is looking for an employer.
-Inquisitor, in the Warhammerstyle. Really, I haven't fleshed this idea out much beyond wanting to play something like Van Helsing.
Maybe I'll combine the ideas and make an Inquisitor of a god of knowledge. Either way, not making another rogue. I could use something with a bit more mechanical spice, you know?
Ragadolf |
Davi-
I actually have a FR book where the hero was so obviously Indiana Jones (without the whip) that I lol'd. They combined a bit of Indiana Jones, with a sprinkle of (mostly non-magical) James Bond adventuring gear, and viola!
However, he had so many skills, in the game he would HAVE to be a rogue! ;P

Looks like solomon Kane in your pic. Great series, and a good idea mix from REH.
I could do something. Write it up, and we can see what goes on from there

All witch hunters look like Solomon Kane. It's in their contract or something.
Anyway, I'll merge the two ideas. I'll have an Inquisitor statted up soon.

And done, other than equipment.
On a quick look it seems good. Any of my rules folks want to double check for me?
Now, as for background: You could be a Prime who is travelling and wound up in Sigil (or perhaps the next city these guys head to). Or, you were recently captured by the khaasta and held captive in the slave pens. You could also be a native Cager if you wished, and know Renkar somehow. However you want to intro yourself.

Okay email sent. Also I'm wondering would it be possible within the realm of the rules to be able to get Seph some Wild type clothes? (thinking an enchantment on his robe plus a couple of other articles.)

He basically fell through a portal to the outer planes a few weeks/months before he joins the game, so just about anything could work. I was planning on him just showing up at the inn looking for employment when you all came back, but that would probably take a while. So, after a bit of thinking, it would probably be easiest to have him be captured by the khaasta. Gives him a better reason to stick around, too. So, yeah. The khaasta captured some poor prime fresh out of the portal and now he's waiting to be sold. Make sense?
Also, sixth-level characters start with 16,000gp. I wish I noticed that earlier.

Well I'm not Patrick but it would seem to make sense to me that you would currently be in the slave pens with Seph and pounce (Of course that is for Patrick to decide for sure)

I'd assume a slave would be kept in the slave pits. (Personally, I'd be more worried about where my stuff is.)

I think that is a good pplace to have you segue in. Pick your 16K of stuff, but assume that it is sequestered elsewhere in the khaasta compound. I would assume you were JUST caught, thus even though you are a seasoned adventurer, you are still disoriented by your surprise portal into the khaasta's hands.
Davi The Eccentric |
I think yes. Davi doesn't seem attached to him
No, I might as well take over Swire again for this fight. Just checking, the khaasta in L24 is still alive and Justin just jumped through that portal? So, James, do I still have any ranged weapons loaded? I doubt I'll be getting in melee range any time soon.
Oh, and I've pretty much bought all the stuff I'm going to on Quinn. Just need to put the total amount of gp I have left.

*sigh* I really need to find time to update map. Currently that khaasta is dead. The only khaasta alive are hidden in that grey blot on the map. Karrin, Issac, Phaumee and Tiandra are directly attacking there now. Quinn will start off in clothing, but I am sure his goods will be recovered soon =)

So Pat, sorry about the absence. First it was work then catching up, then I got in touch with Flash on facebook and it seems as if he's coming back.
Now Drazek isn't much of a team player and Bethany's essentially his main motivation for sticking around.
I can create a new character if thats cool with you and you're still willing to have me.
Patrick Curtin |
I'm more than willing Mark, and Davi is switching up characters as well, so it's not a big deal. If you want to stick around that is cool, and I understand all about RL. This khaasta battle went on for like over two months. It would be cool if you would post more often, it is an extra burden for me to get everyone absent DMPCed. If you want to stay in the game I am happy to have you, just take a moment to honestly decide if you can post on a regular basis or if RL is going to continue to kick you about.
Is Craig coming back? I was honestly contemplating having Drazek and Bethany wander off together at the end of this adventure, kinda on hiatus until it was settled as to what was going on.

Perfect, can have him up by tomorrow.
My schedule's a little wierd, I'm off tuesday wednesday thursday, so those would be my heavy posting days, other days I work until 1 am so my posts would be in the wee hours but I can definitely commint to one a day on the work days and more on others.
That's cool. Once a day or even once every two days can work. It's when a week goes by without any posts that the pace gets clogged.

I like the idea of the Cavalier class and I have a cool Cavalier character using Ebberon as the background. I can change her if you want me to do away with the Eberron stuff.
However I don't really see plane hopping or Sigil in general being mount friendly. Do you think I could swap the mount out for an animal companion?

I'm flexible. Go with your vision of the character and we can make it work. I also teed up an intro for him/her, and you can RP yourself a bit even if you don't have the stats down cold. Gimmie some background and I'll write up a quick bit for you like I did for Davi/Quinn

So essentially just need to do equipment now. Am I statring with the stuff I should have or do yo want to say that I have gems or material wealth and go shopping when we get back to Sigil.
Also it seems as if my first post was completely glossed over by the group.

For the sake of quickness, let's assume that your gear was stashed with Quinn's in that small grain storeroom in the slave barracks.

To be fair the group is a bit spread out at the moment so I'm not entirely sure who can hear who.

Are you ok with me taking dragonmarked feat or should I just act as if the dragonmark doesn't work off of Ebberon?
I dont know much about dragonmarks, could you linky me some relevant info? I would assume I have no problem, I haven't come across much that I really have an issue with.
Rhiannon d'Deneith |
Here you go essentially a magical birthmark borne by members of the great houses that supply magical powers each level of Dragonmark is a feat.
Patrick Curtin |
One more thing, would it be possible to make her mount either summonable or a variant of the phantom steed spell? I like the idea of the mount, but knowing how this group travels, a horse moght be a problem.
If not I'll just go with an animal companion.
That's fine Mark. The dragonmark looks ok as well. I like to give players what they want-so feel free.

Happy New Year! Hope you guys are doing well.
I'm considering running a Kaer Maga game on the boards when I get my act together; I opened it up to some of the other guys I'm playing with so I thought I would toss the idea out here too if there are any interested parties. I like everybody here, so it's a nice benefit to be able to DM for folks I already know.

Hey; Pat;....
do you play Sigil like after the faction wars, where they're all disbanded?
Nah! I love the Factions. Besides, I have my eye on the mega-module Faction Wars in the possible future of this game. Maybe. I'd love to play it through.
