Welcome all! I look forward to continuing this with you.
@Deputy Malcom: Wow, that's a sad backstory! As for motivation, would he be desperate enough to find a way to help his wife to want to go with us to find this necromancer on the off chance that someone who interferes with life and death might have magic to help her?
Also, it looks like your stats only add up to 10, not 15. Are you adding in the +2 racial bonus?
Kyrra |
Looks like I'm all ready.
Kyrra Darkstalker (swap the shield with a sickle)
BTW thanks for the vote of confidence DH
Deputy Malcom |
Hmm. Maybe I forgot something. Thanks for checking up on my math.
Mal would love a chance to look for magic that could help his wife. The main reason he couldn't before now is because he couldn't do it alone, and because he couldn't do it and earn enough money to care for her at the same time.
People from Bistan probably all know Mal and know at least some of his story. If they've been around a while they might even remember his wife, Hope. They probably dont know about his adventuring past or his skill with firearms. For many years he's been a traviling arbitrator for the church of Abadar, and when that kind of thing isn't needed, he repairs things around town.
Gaurm |
Gaurm is fairly new to the city, but is still probably fairly well known at least on sight as he is nearly 8 feet tall and often carries a massive warhammer heavily inscribed with sigils and runes honoring Torag. He is a man of few words, content to offer his praises to Torag with the swing of a hammer.

Alright, so the group as I see it right now is this:
Calon, the arcane-powered Elf who arrived relatively recently in town, but has stayed around for a few months inspecting the wildlife and doing naturalistic studies in his free time. Not much is known of him, but that he comes from a land far away and doesn't speak much about family or any relatives among his kin. He often expresses curiosity about when trading caravans are expected at the village -- but then again, in a small town where tradesmen usually just carry typically mundane and predictable wares, who wouldn't?
Kyrra, a wild and wandering member of the Knights of the Sword and Sickle. Her likely only contact with anyone here is maybe Warden Fernsdale and probably Garris -- one of our MIA original players, who was recently accepted as an initiate to the Knights. Kyrra, still young, has yet to be included in one of the Knights' operations, but her time is coming and everyone fully expects that she will live up to her parents' reputation. She has trained herself by wandering the wilds almost always alone, and many of the Knights' customs are still unknown to her.
Gaurm, a curious sight indeed for Biston, has recently settled down in the area as well. He has a close relationship with Seleyna Duntherhall, and therefore is fairly well acquainted with Rouqas the Catfolk (who also works for the blacksmith from time to time). Hopefully Rouqas will show up, but it's been a month since he last expressed interest. Gaurm used to attract a lot of attention whenever he wandered the village, but most people have grown used to his unusual size.
Malcom, a seemingly depressed and dreary man, moved to the area some time ago with his wife, Hope. She suffered a horrible tragedy and since then Malcom has been taking care of her. He is offered much pity by the townsfolk, but rarely if ever accepts their gifts and help. He seems to have a friendly relationship with Joron Wunhur of the Church of Abadar, but it's always sort of hard to tell with Malcom. When he does socialize, he rarely discusses his past, and it is something of a mystery that people often gossip about.
Sound good to everyone? Should we grab 1 more if Rouqas doesn't show up?

Posted an update, I hope Kyrra will be back and this was just a busy time for her! Combat should be only maybe two more rounds, depending on your rolls this time around :P and then things will settle down a bit.
I'd like everyone to consider what their characters will want to spend their time doing in the coming weeks. Obviously you don't know the outcome of this battle yet, or what its consequences might be, but in general try to have an idea to develop -- even if it's just simple crafting or research or what.
Calon |
Calon is going to spend time researching some new spells (Expeditious Excavation and Touch of Gracelessness) as well as researching anything he can find on the undead.
If possible, he will either trade some spell scrolls to Jannet for Cure Light Wounds potions, otherwise he will probably just end up buying a few.

According to the PFSRD:
If you are a gunslinger, this feat grants the following additional benefit. You can use this feat to repair and restore your initial, battered weapon. It costs 300 gp and 1 day of work to upgrade it to a masterwork firearm of its type.
So we'll go by that. However, I'd be willing to say that you can repair the 'broken' condition with three hours of tweaking. We'll say it was just especially-badly jammed and you had to do some heavy maintenance. Making it masterwork will take another 9 hours at least and 300 gp.

Hey everyone, in at some point in the next 3-4 days I will be returning to a tropical island I was at a few months ago where internet is hard to find and expensive by the minute. Last time I did this I postponed the game for about a month, but I'd rather keep it running this time if you're all interested. I'll be posting slower, but I should get access every few days to update. Just letting you know!
Calon |
Sorry, Doomed Hero, I cross-posted there. You are actually talking to Kyrra, and I was responding to the constable guarding Mrs. Riel's house.
And shouldn't you have enough money to repair your gun fully? We got 50 platinum coins (500 gp) as a reward from the Mayor.
garabbott |
Yes I've ruled that your pistol is now un-Broken, but it will not be masterwork until you spend most of a day or so working on it (the rules say 1 day to improve it to masterwork, but I figure that's a day with sleep so 12 hours maximum. Since you already put a few hours into it during the game's morning, you should be able to improve it with about 9 more hours).

Hey everyone, just a heads up that today marks the day that I start my long trip home. I'll be on an overnight train tonight and an overnight plane the next night, so I may not find the time to update depending on where I end up and what I do.
As a side note, how is everyone doing with the campaign? Any things you enjoy or dislike specifically? I've seen some GMs write up a whole questionnaire for their players, but I'd rather you guys just tell me what you think and whether things are working for you or if there's something different you'd like to see!
Anyway, thanks in advance. Be back soooon.

Sense Motive: 1d20+2.
Gaurm stands easily in the room, impressed by the Sable Company and it's reputation, but not letting their presence overawe him. He remains quiet, letting the more charismatic members of the group do the talking.
You do realize that you are one of the most charismatic members of the group...?
;)
Anyone have any idea of what to say here? If we mention that we are looking into the history of the area, it will not look good for us or the Mayor, and Calon could not Bluff to save his life.
