Lost City DM |
Walia will move to a location that will give him a better sling next round where the enemy has no cover, if possible.
Wallia: Did you want to move into the room with the rats? You will be exposed to attack if you do so but will be able to strike in melee. Note that there's not a lot of light in there yet as Zynazyr still has your main light source.
If that's where you want to end up let me know where you want to be relative to Fistep.

I hate to be a stickler but how can Fistep kill the rat when he rolled a 1.
Hah! My bad. That's not the first time I've looked at the number at the end and thought it was the roll.
Fistep easily kills another.
Another rat dodges aside from Fistep's blade.

Ferrousbot steps to the side into the darkness, though he can still see the area illuminated by Fistep's light.
Once in the dark his infravision begins to kick in and he can make out the dimensions of this end of the room. The north wall is only another 5' away, and there is a mound of... something... in the northeast corner of the room. The mound is not generating heat and is not alive.
Ferrous strikes at one of the rats attacking Fistep. He crushes the rat's skull with the blade of his axe.

The Black rats are now awake and require a normal to-hit roll to hit. However, they won't get to act until next round.

Lost City DM |
9:10 AM, Day 6
Wallia takes a couple shots with his sling but fails to land a hit.
Brathas deftly pins one to the floor with his shortsword and then Ferrous decapitates another. Brathas, denied targets, must satisfy himself with killing the last sleeping rat.
Combat Over.
*Whew!* That one took way too long. I'm deducting an extra turn because of the length of time it took for you to agree on a plan.
Once Zynazyr brings a light into the room you can see that the room is a modest 20' x 30' chamber. There is a pile of detritus in the northeast corner that is clearly a rat's nest of some kind, and small bits of detritus litter the floor. A number of holes in the walls at floor level were clearly made by the rats. The lack of decoration on the walls suggests that this chamber was never a tomb, though it is unclear what it might have once been used for.
A bit of a glint of something shiny catches the eye of Ferrous, who insists that the party search the nest. There are no rats inside, but you do find a scattering of silver coins (300 in all) and four gems worth 100 gp each.
There are 19 dead rats in total. These provide a total of 38 half meals worth of rat meat.
What now?
* Explore another part of the dungeon? (which one?)
* Return to camp for a while? Stopping for water on the way?
* Return to camp for the night?
* Something else?
Brathas |
"I would be happy to explore another room down here.
If we do go up to camp, we should remember to lock that mage's crypt. We have only a limited number of times to enter and exit with the wands, at least until Zynazyr or Ana can learn the necessary magic."
Lost City DM |
Any other votes?
For the record, you would have filled your waterskins yesterday, and they hold enough drinking water for a few days if you ration it. So you are not out of water at the moment.
Ferrous Grimgond |
Appears that a flaming torch wouldn't have burnt any precious books after all.The dwarf mutters under his breath. Then more loudly he exclaims agreement with Brathas. Sure let's go find some books someplace else. Looks like we got a bit of food here though so nothing wrong with that. The dwarf moves to the western door of this room. Let's go see what that tunnel to the South leads to.
