"If we fear the councilor and the other townsfolk may be in danger, is the town militia adequately outfitted to deal with the disturbance at the refuse yard?  If so, I would concur that investigating the councilor's disappearance should be our primary objective."  

Ardash takes a quick survey of what materials he has on hand, "I will need to outfit myself for travel before we embark."

He listens closely as the focus of the conversation turns to the Black Sovereign, interested in understanding who, or what, this potential threat is.

tha entrance to the tunnels is submerged, so I hope you can all swim. Its about forty feet or so of drowned tunnel until ye surface. Hope ya can hold ya breath!

She pauses and looks at your expressions. Then laughs.

Nah, I'm joking a bit. The water is as I have said but a local cleric has offered to cast water breathing on ya. That should tide ye over. Oh, we have nay maps, khonnir has those if there are any.

Oh dear, I begin to see why the caverns have gone unexplored. Anody says. A once in a lifetime opportunity though. I do hope we find Mr.Baine safe and sound. the gnome decides to put his misgivings away and join the expedition. Any other help that the town can provide? Ah lass, put little stock in rumors. The black sovereign has nae stirred from his court in many years. Tis unlikely he will now. A cruel man, but lost to disapation, an so is lazy by nature. As to aid, ah have prevailed on the locals to give ye a wee discount on purchases. One fifth to be precise. Water proof bags would be useful indeed, but light that works underwater be of need as well, as the tunnel be black as the heart of a guildman.

She smiles at Councillor Freddert, reassured by her description of the Black Sovereign.

It is true that power and wealth can render a person so complacent as to be incapable of action...let us hope that this Black Sovereign remains wherever he calls home...

Addressing the councilor, "What of the rumors of a disturbance at your refuse yard?  Do you think these claims to be unfounded?"

Addressing the group, "If we decide to return to the Foundry prior to setting out, I will take that time to investigate the commotion at the refuse yard." Turning to Ayla, "I am very interested to see what your sisters uncover after examining the automaton.  Please, keep me informed of any findings."

In regards to Valia's comment and Ayla's rebuttal, he gazes at them quizzically, unable to interpret their meaning.

I really think we should make haste to the caverns Anody says. The refuse, or dump, whichever term you prefer can wait for us. Suddenly a bit embarrassed he continues As for the discount from the local market. I'm afraid I quite used up all of my funds just getting settled in Torch.. Perhaps, Sharae could you hold on to my things in your bag just until we get through the water? Ahah I'm a poor swimmer at best. Wasn't expecting to go for a dip though the water breathing should hold me in good stead as it will last for at least 2 hours he concludes chuckling nervously

I figured a 8 on Kn:Arcana would be enough for Anody to know the basics of how water breating works

I don’t think Sharae has any further questions for the Councillor so, assuming she tells us where we are headed, Sharae will head back to the Foundry (with a diversion to a store as appropriate / required by the rest of the group)

He heads out of the room and towards the market.

Shops for those who have the money, then the priest and then the caverns sounds like a sound plan. I must admit though this is more dangerous than I anticipated I am eager to start digging into the mystery of how the Torch works... or worked I should say.

What level is the priest. Would like to get an idea of how many hours of water breathing we'll get.

Ardash will accompany those who wish to go shopping, purchasing whatever gear he deems useful for the trip through the water and below.  Afterwards while some return to the Foundry, he will proceed to the refuse yard to investigate the matter of the strange light.  Any who wish to accompany him will not be turned away.

Whilst shopping, "I can afford a waterproof bag, but I also wish to purchase a journal with pen and ink to record our findings below.  Unfortunately, I lack sufficient funds.  Do we have the necessary coinage to purchase these materials?  It appears I require 13 additional gold pieces."

After shopping, Ardash and anyone who wishes to accompany him will head to the northern end of Torch to investigate the rumor.  He will approach the shack with caution, stealthily if possible, keeping a keen eye out for anything hostile.

Oh dear, it seems like we are going to split up. So much to do, but preparation is wisdom so they say Anody considers. I will go with Valia and we can get the gear we need. Then I will head to the Foundry to assist Sharae if finding any notes that Khonnir might have left behind. Then from there we can head to the priest for the blessing. Ahem it might be nice, Councillor, if you could convince the priest to meet us at the tunnel entrance so we can make use of the duration of the water breathing spell as much as possible

Shopping, Anody will suggest buying a waterproof bullseye lantern (17 gp), and six air bladders, for 6 sp. and two waterproof bags for 1gp total. I think we have a lot of light spells but a lantern is better safe than sorry, do people have dungeoneering equipment like ropes and stuff? I'm afraid Anody used all his money on splash weapons and a crossbow

Before the party goes about its business, Dolga adds Ye know, /Ah suppose ye will want to know of rewards an such. The council will pay ye 4000 gold for Khonnirs return, and if he is alive ye will also gain a scroll with a ressurection spell on it. If he's deid, well ye won't be getting that. She sips her whisky

Now Joram Kyte, the priest of Brigh will be casting the water breathing spell, which will last twenty four hours, divided amongst tha lot of ya. The entrance to the caves is under the weepin' pond, but I'll show ye where when ye want. Ah should mention that Khonnir reported alot of tracks in the area, so a fair few have entered the caves and not returned. Some of those were likely townsfolk, so folks may like news if find em.

As Sharae approaches the Foundry Tavern, she gets a slightly uneasy feeling, taking a Starknife in her hand, she calls out between the buildings, "Val? Is Everything Okay?"

Assuming everything is okay, Sharae will search the property, looking for maps or anything else that might give is some clues as to what lies on the tunnels, Perception Check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Sharae and Anody are both searching the Foundry Tavern in advance of going to the Weeping Pond...Ayla is coming to the Foundry to collect the remnants of the Robot...

...and I think Ardash (plus others?) are going to the Refuse Yard...

I think Anody, Ardash, Ayla and Sharae (twice) have stated actions that are NOT going directly to the caves...I tried to summarise what I thought was happening in my 'OOC' post above...if there is nothing interesting to be found at either the Foundry or the Refuse yard, just post that and I'm happy to move on

Plus I think Valia wen to the Markets...althoughI guess that's just an accounting exercise rather than any meaningful RP posts?

By what has been posted, I'm not sure how you've deduced we're moving to the caves. I have posted specific actions for when Ardash goes to investigate the junk yard. I'm not sure what else you want. I would like a response to my posted actions if possible.

Criek looks up from assembling a kit for mapmaking to see Valia's gaze lingering on the outfit. "Well, that's lovely, isn't it? Do you really think the colors will hold up in underwater caves, though?
