R-66Y |
Dotting in. Having a lot of trouble statting this bugger out. It seems like all dex-based Slayers go sword and board and that's not what I'm picturing in my head for this character. I might still try it out as it seems interesting, but I'm going to try to go straight dual wield first. Maybe I'll post something up in the Advice forums and see what kind of recommendations I can get.
Traits will be Reactionary and Against the Technic League. I'm also eyeballing the Xenophobic drawback as it seem to fit right in with the Android concept. Not sure what my third trait will be though.
Criek Prisil |
Dot! I'm waffling between "Against the Technic League" and "Local Ties", depending on whether I've already studied under Baine or am arriving in hopes of studying under him.
R-66Y |
Now that I am looking into things more I am leaning towards an Android Ranger (Galvanic Saboteur) taking the Against the Technic League trait which works very well thematically. Plus, mechanically I think I'd prefer playing a switch-hitting ranger over trying to make a dex Slayer work.
I like the angle of learns of the Technic Leagues mistreatment of androids and must stop them or eliminate the android, kinda like mercy-killing to save them from a cruel fate at the hands of the League.

I like it. Very bladerunner. :)

without the flying cars of course. Also the ending of blade runner was a bit dark for the android.
I have seen things you people would never believe.
Elementals on fire of the shoulder of the silver mount.
I saw polar rays glitter in the dark of the great pit.
these things will be gone...in time
time to die

I've been enjoying reading Anody and Sharae, and bard and cleric would fit right in with our party makeup. It seems we have a pretty large pool of decent applicants. Thera and Edana show promise too, but that would be two bards and a skald, obviously we can't take them all!
Depending on how Criek plays his Alchemist and how Valia is built we may still need a blaster and to shore up our front lines a bit. Heals/buffs/debuffs are always nice to have too!
Criek Prisil |
Agreed with what R-66Y said. I also like the RP concept of Thera.
I feel like the two of you are pretty solid on the front-line; arcane and ranged seem like our gaps, and not all that common among the other characters either? Jean is the only full-arcane. Thera + me would be two partials.
Criek Prisil |
I'm thinking of knocking my Con down a point to put Str back up to 10--carrying capacity and get rid of bow damage penalty. Too late to make that change, or ok?
Sharae of the River |
Thanks for the selection GM, am looking forward to playing...have been mainly GM'ing fir the last few months (I have a 'Wardens of the Reborn Forge' and 2 'Emerald Spire' games running on these boards)...I have been looking forward to this AP since it was announced and am pleased I get to experience it as a player...
...also, my first few Gameplay posts are Sharae getting to Torch...hope that is okay, since she isn't Numerian, I wanted to talk a little bit about her journey...

I'm planning on doing a render of every player then make a group render
Example 1
Example 2 (3 different groups)
I'll try to get Criek Prisil as close as I can given my limited options
Though I would need a description and a Height.
This will allow for a uniform perspective of how each other looks, and put each of use in perspective of each other.
In example 1, the Half-ogre, did not know how small the Kitsune of the group was, and was shocked when he saw the height ref render.
Anody Gearon, Prof. |
That is seriously awesome of you to do Ayla.
Anody is just a little shorter than your average male gnome and is 2 feet 10 inches tall with an expressive face and bushy red hair that is swept back neatly and with sideburns that extend neatly into a beard with no mustache. He has tiny black glasses that sit on his somewhat large nose and don't need ear handles. His vest has a lot of pockets and his belt has pouches. He wears a backpack which has a few scrolls sticking out of it. These are his notes on the Androffan language which he has only recently mastered and which he still refers to fairly often..
Ayla Noya Aiba |
One reason I do the render is it's fun, another is;
I find it helps me, the players and the GM when we all have each other in perspective to each other,
as well as a uniform appearance of each character in mind.
So those of us that visualise a scene, have everything in proper perspective and a near identical view of a scene.
R-66Y |

R-66Y is of average height and build. His eyes are pure white as he lacks irises. His skin is pale and his age is indeterminable.
He has glowing blue lines carved into his skin and is adorned with armor made of many thin lacquered leather bands bound together by strong cordage (I understand lamellar is supposed to be samurai-ish armor, but I'm picturing a much more form-fitting futuristic take for this character.) A faded patchwork blue cloak is drawn up over his head, shoulder length light brown hair spilling out of the sides. He wears a large sword strapped to his back with a small bow slung over his opposite shoulder (soon to be a much bigger bow once I get the cash for it, hehe.)
Also, as an aside, you guys can keep calling him R-66Y for as long as you like. I figured some sort of human name or nickname would develop for him organically over the course of our adventures.
Or you could just call him Robo (I hope someone gets that reference.)
Ayla Noya Aiba |
Chrono Trigger reference, right
I'll see what I can do, though the glowing blue lines would require texture work, which is a lot of work since it's trial and error for me.
When I work on a character render get the character done first sans weapons, shields and other hand props to get it right.
Then I add the props later in the group render.
Valia |
I was thinking of calling our friendly android Dash, because the name sounds like Ardash Sidty Sixwhy to me.
Red-haired tall elf urbanite here. His eyes may change in color any given day, the way I roll.
Sorry, it's more about attitude for me.
Chillblame, where would you prefer I state my family is? Would Brevoy work?
Sharae of the River |
I don't yet have a totally clear picture of what Sharae looks like...facially, I like the Avatar I have used for her...beyond that, she is of average height (say 5'8") and slender...whilst travelling she will wear the White Cloak of a Desnan, but she will shed the cloak revealing well fitted, weather worn studded armour...the armour is midnight blue, decorated with intricate stars...a motif that is replicated along her arms and the exposed skin on her leg...where tattoos show the constellations...
...A tattoo also adorns her back...illustrating the path of the Sellen from it's source all the way to Cassomir...the map is incomplete, notably where the river passes into Numeria...
Finally, a shimmering blue butterfly hangs as a medallion around her neck...this is her Holy Symbol...
Criek Prisil |
So for a render, maybe try a reeeeeeally skinny dwarf with an enormous nose... ;)
Criek is a slight thing, 4 foot tall and a scant 70 pounds. His head, shoulders, and a stripe down his back are a deep brown-black, with the rest of his fur, and the tip of his nose, white. He wears simple leather armor, hung 'round with bandoliers and belt pouches of gear, though most of this is typically covered by a plain, road-worn brown cloak.
What are you using for the renders, software-wise?
Ayla Noya Aiba |
I use Daz Studio for renders as most of the stuff is pre-made.
I just have to morph the body into shape, pick the hair, pick the clothes and then apply the materials.
Ayla Noya Aiba |
I did find this which I could use as a base for Criek.

Little background notes.
Androids usually conceal their nature due to bad reactions and the fact that the technic league quite often dissects them, and certainly enslaves them.

Funny, I though you'd be wearing something like this, this, this, this (has alternates packs), this, or this
one of these has to be close
Heights:
Ayla Noya Aiba: 6 foot 6
Valia: 6 foot 3
R-66Y: 6 foot 0
Sharae: 5 foot 8
Criek Prisil: 4 foot 0
Anody: 2 foot 10

Ayla Noya Aiba -> G2F
Criek Prisil -> G1
R-66Y -> G2M
Valia -> G1
Sharae -> Try G2F, if cloth fails, G1

That second to last link nearly made me spit-take. It's like Cobra Commander's sister goes to the beach.
lol
I can remove the mask on Dark Sisterhood, as almost all clothes/hairs/parts .... etc have sub divided materials. So I can turn a part to completely see-through if needed.
Sharae of the River |
Ayla - I think the first image you suggested comes closest...the physique is, I think, pretty much as I envisage Sharae...so that, combined with the facial features of her avatar, is her...
R-66Y - just echoing the Professor's question, are you obviously android or, to those who don't know you, concealing your nature?
R-66Y |
Hmm, I hadn't considered that angle yet. I wrote that when his soul inhabited this shell, beginning this current cycle of life for the android, there was a preprogrammed message to eliminate the Technic League and to save androids from becoming enslaved, eliminating them strictly as a last resort. So, I don't anticipate him being afraid of the League and therefore wouldn't go out of his way to conceal the fact that he is an android. On the other hand, he isn't walking around wearing a flashing marquee that says Android in huge letters either.
I would, however, assume that Valia and Criek (who I am under the impression knew each other in some fashion before our adventure began? Valia has supported this in-game, but I have yet to see Criek acknowledge it) know his true identity. I guess, as Valia has pointed out, that the name R-66Y could be phonetically interpreted (Ardash Siksikswye) as just another bizarre name, probably of a foreign language or culture.
I don't foresee R-66Y talking about himself or his origins much, he seems to focus on the task at hand rather than reminisce about the past.
R-66Y |
Did I miss something on who this Val person is? At first I thought it was Valia talking about himself in the third person, lol.

I was talking more about the clothes
Sharae of the River |
...I think the answer remains the same...the first image is closest...Sharae spends the majority of her time outdoors / on the river - so those final images...probably not so practical!!!!
Criek Prisil |
Val is another student/apprentice of Khonnir's, per the player's guide.:)
I know her as part of the " local ties" trait flavor text.
With GM's permission, I'm going to say Criek was there first, but his insecurity led him to think Val the better student. I expect she's way better than me by this point, several months later!

Chrono Trigger reference, right
Very much correct, but holy crap I just realized that your name is Ayla. No way could there be two Chrono Trigger references in the same game? What are the odds? My mind is sufficiently blown...
I am unhealthily obsessed with the 16-bit era of RPGs, more specifically Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger. My acutal alias is sixteenbiticon, a nod to the iconic games of that era.
Oh, and my son's middle name is Locke. :)
