Tyrrol shrugs, and attempts to crush the skull of the lizard-thing trying to chew on his leg...

Maps, etc...

Lecian probably can't get to the other side of Tyrrol because he's in the throat between the two rooms, but he can get to the far side of Lothan easily .

Tyrrol smashes the lizard's skull into a crunchy red-gray paste.

You're like the giant hammer from was it DOnkey KOng? Yeow!

Lothan, then the shadow demon.

Male Aasimar (Plumekith) Occultist (Psychodermist/Reliquarian) (AC 25/17/20; HP 52/52; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +8; Init +8, Perception +17, CMD 22)

Heh. Well, Tyrrol does serve the Lord of End Times ;-)

The scary thing is, I rolled a 5 to hit, and minimum damage :-P

Male Half-Elf Slayer 15th; Hp's 127/127; Perc: 35; AC 27/touch 16/FF 21, CMD: 32, Fort: +14/Ref: +18/Will: +12

Man Tyrrol is an absolute beast. A near 20 on a natural 5 roll. Sheesh. Good times.

Seeing Tyrrol obliterate the lizard, he turns and fires on the shadow creature.

Mwk. Longbow, Comp (Str +1) w/DA/MS: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 8 + 2 = 13

Yeah, not gonna bother with the miss chance roll.

Maps, etc...

Don't blame you. But you'll be happy to know that missing may work out for you in the long run.

Lecian slips away from the shadow demon's claws. It glances quickly around for a target and settles on Mordecai. It moves in quickly snapping jaws and slashing claws.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 ... 1d8 ⇒ 7
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 ... 1d6 ⇒ 6

Now we're getting somewhere!

(AC 19, hp 33 of 37) Human Cleric (Urgathoa) 6

Mordecai shows naught but irritation at the raking claws of the demon, and his spiritual scythe continues to attack the creature.

Miss chance is 50% on this guy.

Mordecai's scythe slashes beneath the leaping demon. His morning star lands on the monster's thigh.

Lecian up next. Then top of the next round. Tyrrol and Lothan

Male Human Diviner Wizard 6

Lecian fires magic missiles at the shadow, then draws a potion.

Shaking reptile off his leg, Tyrrol turns around, and goes after the thing attacking the others.

Tyrrol miss chance 1-50 1d100 ⇒ 84

Tyrrol's mace whips through shadow and insubstantial flesh and the demon seems to cringe with pain. Lothan's first arrow strikes empty shadows, but his second hits the demon's head. It staggers back and with a snap of its murky wings flees at unmatchable speed down the passage to the northwest.

Unless of course Tyrrol's AoO stops it right now.

DM stuff:
35 damage done

In any event, well done. The shadow demon and drow druid were separate encounters as written, but given their proximity and that the guards called for the demon, I thought it reasonable to have them team up and try to split the party so the demon could pick off the casters.

If you give chase:

As Tyrrol takes off after the shadow beast, Lothan just shakes his head, "Looks like we're going after it, fellas," he says as he takes off after the creature as well.

Maps, etc...

Tyrrol's last second swing catches it in the back as it whirls to leave. It collapses into strands of darkness.

No pursuit required. You may retcon. Both Spoilers still apply depending on whether you go to G7 or down the unexplored passage.

Male Human Diviner Wizard 6

Lecian moves into G7.

Are there any other magical auras besides the items?

Afterwards, looking at the items that Lecian and himself have identified, Mordecai will scoop up the items, except for the leather armor, and look to Lecian, "Can you make use of this wand? If not, we'll sell it and divide it's value later, along with the rest of this swag."

"The armor is masterwork, but I don't feel like lugging it out of here. If someone of stronger stuff than myself wishes to, that would be excellent."

"I'll take it, Mordecai. No prob," he tells him as he takes the armor and stows it before preparing to continue on. "Alright, let's move." Lothan then leads the way down the northeast passage.

Sounds good to me.

Lecian's bolt flies wide. Lothan's arrow pierces the chest of the second dark elf and he falls to the floor.

End of combat. You are in G8 on the map.

Map

These guys are equipped much like their friends in the first cavern chamber. There's about a dozen hammocks in here and the same number of small chests. Two are open and contain mundane personal items

From the larger cavern to the southwest comes a cry, "Hjhd Hkfdasl!" You can easily spot the source of the cry. It's an armored dark elven woman standing on the central platform. A number of other dark elves look in the direction she's pointing (that's at you), and scurry into action.

Elf speakers:
The accent is strange, but the words are "Surface dwellers!" and the tone is not complimentary.

"Mae'n amser ar gyfer eu edafedd i gael eu torri. Gadewch i ni orffen hyn!"

"It is time for their threads to be severed. Let us end this!"

Carefully putting away his watch, he lifts his flail, and prepares to use it...

Male Human Diviner Wizard 6

Lecian waits here with the others.

How far away are the dark elves? I'd to take as many actions as possible before they get to the party.

Maps, etc...

The dark elves are scattered along the walkways over the water. The woman who spotted you is at G9D. She barks commandingly and the elves start to converge on her location. Two of them start loading their crossbows. A few seconds later the light dims in the cavern when darkness blots out the light coming in through the opening.

In the seconds before darkness falls you make out the following features in the cave:

Several thick, rocky natural pillars rise up in this high sea cave. The water filling the lower portion of the enormous cavern sloshes and surges with the tide, and a five-foot-wide rocky beach lines the northeastern face of the pool. The cave ceiling soars to a height of eighty feet. To the south, several wooden platforms attached to the rock pillars are further supported by wooden pilings—the structure looks somewhat treacherous. The sound of rushing, falling water echoes through the chamber.

One entrance (south wall) to this sea cave opens directly to the ocean.
A gap of nearly 2 feet exists between the top of the entrance and the ocean’s surface. The dotted lines on the map show the extent of the southern entrance.

The wooden platforms and rope-and-plank bridges built up throughout the chamber are cobbled together from a varied selection of driftwood, heavy timbers and smooth planking.

****

Range to G9D is 35-50 feet, but the pool of water may prevent direct travel. The alternate route would be along the beach to the south, then across the low bridge from G9A to G9B. In any event the elves seem in no hurry to charge.

I think we can assume both sides are ready. The situation is fluid. While we are not in rounds yet, that could change at any moment. Don't post a minute's worth of actions. Post approximately a round's worth and when one side or another is ready to go or trips a response we'll begin combat in earnest.

You have had only the quickest glance into the elves' cave through a narrow line of sight. (Draw lines along the walls of the narrow doorway that determines your field of view. The pillars also block a considerable portion of your line of sight. You saw maybe 7 dark elves.

Male Aasimar (Plumekith) Occultist (Psychodermist/Reliquarian) (AC 25/17/20; HP 52/52; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +8; Init +8, Perception +17, CMD 22)

Tyrrol casts a spell (Shield of Faith), and prepares to move forward, once the others are ready...

Male Human Diviner Wizard 6

Lecian grabs and drinks a vial of Shield of Faith.

(AC 19, hp 33 of 37) Human Cleric (Urgathoa) 6

"Hold the doorway, make them come to us, do not let them dictate our actions." Mordecai says quietly.

He is unsure if it will have any effect on the darkness they have generated, but he calls forth light on Tyrrol's pocketwatch.

cast light cantrip, Mordecai also has a continual flame amulet as a second light source

Ideally, I would have shut the door and let their spells wear off, but we've already drunk potions and cast spells, so that plan's out. :)

Maps, etc...

There's no door, just a narrow throat between your cave and theirs. And Tyrrol habitually stows the pocket watch, which would give him the ability to turn the light on and off at the cost of using a hand. Another object may be more suitable. Why don't you ask him?

Continued shouting from the drow cave. The falling water makes it hard to discern words.

Your various light effects seem unaffected by the darkness, at least here in your cave. Out in the cave an occasional stripe of light reflected or refracted from the water crosses the ceiling and walls.

Lothan:
Despite the water and accent, you can make out some words in elven. Crossbow. Load. Cover.

Lothan and Tyrrol:
There's just enough light in the cave to make out shadowy movement. The elves seem to be moving boxes to the front edge of the central platform.

What's the duration on those spells and potions?

(AC 19, hp 33 of 37) Human Cleric (Urgathoa) 6

My bad on the pocketwatch. But Tyroll has an ioun torch, and Lothan and Mordecai both have continual flame items, so we've probably got all the light we need. Instead Mordecai will cast guidance on Lothan, so that his first attack roll, save, skill or ability check in the next minute will have a +1.

Male Half-Elf Slayer 15th; Hp's 127/127; Perc: 35; AC 27/touch 16/FF 21, CMD: 32, Fort: +14/Ref: +18/Will: +12

Lothan grabs a vial from within his pack and drinks it. Shield of Faith as well

Shield of faith is 1 minute per level. So I would gather 1 minute on the potions, probably.

"Heads up, fellas! They've got crossbows! And we got some of them dark dwellers moving boxes to the front of that platform! Cover most likely. If we're gonna do something, we better do it in a hurry!"

Maps, etc...

I'll start counting rounds for potion duration then. No need to worry about niceties of initiative order until combat actually begins. The potions will expire at the end of Round 10.

DM stuff:

Expiration of round 0. Drow to do three more rounds of fort building unless interrupted.

Round 10. Tyrrol, Lecian , and Lothan's Shield of Faith expire at end.

Round 1.

The drow continue to move about in the shadows of the large cave.

Male Human Diviner Wizard 6

Lecian pulls out a scroll of Fox's Cunning and activates it.

Spells:
Shield of Faith +2: 9 rounds
Fox's Cunning: 30 rounds

Gravity bow and Aspect will both be fine. It'll give me a chance to see their effect first hand. One spell to a round is generally the rule. Which do you want to cast first and will the other PCs wait for an extra round of buffing?

Tyrrol, Mordecai for round 1?

Male Aasimar (Plumekith) Occultist (Psychodermist/Reliquarian) (AC 25/17/20; HP 52/52; Fort +9, Ref +10, Will +8; Init +8, Perception +17, CMD 22)

(AC 19, hp 33 of 37) Human Cleric (Urgathoa) 6

"I suppose we are going to have to fight them on their terms, instead of wait them out." Mordecai says, some of Tyrrol's fatalism rubbing off on him.

He calls up another scythe of dark energy, and directs it to attack the nearest dark elf, stepping into the room, shield raised.

spiritual scythe attack 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
force damage 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
miss chance, if applicable, 1-50 misses if they are totally obscured by darkness 1d100 ⇒ 3

Mordecai has Blind-Fight, so his movement is unhindered by darkness or blindness, although it is of zero use for ranged combat, so it doesn't reduce his miss chance if he can't see his target, or allow him to not count as flat-footed against ranged attackers.

Maps, etc...

That will trip real combat.

Round 2 Initiative:
