Mordecai raises an eyebrow at the chatter, When he has hooked a shark, the wise man cuts bait, Lothan.
I laughed out loud when I saw this one :-)

Guys, you've been really patient with my delays and I feel I owe an explanation of sorts. I work for a small company -- about a dozen guys. Well it was about a dozen guys. Over the past six months we've lost 4 guys and added 3, and we were thinking about hiring when the defections began. Company wide work load is about the same or maybe even up slightly, but the three new guys are really still in training. We're hiring 2 more in early June. Training new people is the kind of thing where you wish you didn't have to because it takes longer than doing the job alone, but we've got to get them up to speed so we can spread the work out again. Anyway -- it's meant more time at work with less opportunity to post, less time with the family (which means time I would have spent posting from home no longer exists) and much less time for posting.
Could be six more months of this before work is back on an even keel.
I'm still enjoying the game. I hope you all will hang in here with me.

I am just grateful that you are still running the game :-)
Tyrrol is certainly not going to go anywhere!
@Mordecai: So, you want to become undead? Does that mean that if we come across any 5th level or higher non-good clerics that happen to have Animate Dead prepped, we should say goodbye to Mordecai? :-P
Lothan Robgard |
And what good is Tyrrol without his ol' buddy Lothan,(we go waaayyy back), to keep him honest, humble and caring of others! ;)
At least that's the vibe I'm getting from Tyrrol. Everyone is with me on this, right? I hope I haven't missed something. scratches head, wondering. :D

Mordecai has standards, sirrah. Ghoul is the absolute least form of undead he'll become, and even that will just be a pit-stop on the way to lichdom. Or mummification, depending on his mood.

Zombie. My final offer.

Lecian, given the lack of resources on the island, I'm inclined to just waive the costs. You've only got your free spells per level and the spell books to draw from. I don't see any need to gimp you more.
Set, you're the man. No reason in particular. Just an aggregate of good, cool, funny, or awesome posts in various threads.
Now the bad news. My parents are in town for the week, then it's family vacation time -- two weeks on the road drifting from hotel to hotel. Work will also be amking some extra demands, so RL will be busy.
This is going to negatively affect playing time, so as I reach a good stopping point in each, I'm putting all the games I run on hold for the three weeks. I'll start posting again around June 20th or 21st.

4th level hit points 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Eh. Beats rolling another 1.
OMFG. I just updated him to 4th level and the darn thing didn't save. Grr. 5 minutes of my life I'll never get back. :)
Chose +1 Wisdom at 4th, +1 hit point for FC bonus (with +4 hp from Toughness and +2 of his FC bonuses to hit points, he's up to average hit points for his level), more Diplomacy, Sense Motive and Perception skillz.
Lecian |
I never added the '+1 skill point or HP bonus' to my character for having levels in a favored class, so I'm now adding 4 HP to Lecian's maximum HP.
Wizard 4
+1 Climb, Ride, Swim, Sense Motive, Spellcraft, Knowledge (Arcana, Geography, History)
+1 BAB, Will
+1 2nd-level and 1st-level slots

Set,
question. In dabblers RotRL game Vaclav just hit 3rd level. Are you happy with what you got out of craft wondrous items as Marak's feat choice? I know the party didn't really take you up on it. What do you think?
We happened to be at a point where we had a week off or something when I took it, which allowed me to make a couple items for myself at half cost, which pretty much was a cool deal at the time, but we haven't had a lot of breaks since (and he doesn't have much cash lying around to take advantage of it anyway), so it's kind of a hit or miss thing.
In a Kingmaker type game, where you know you'll get days, or even months off, periodically, I could see the feat rocking. Perhaps Jade Regent has some opportunities built in as well, with the weeks of caravan-stuff. I'd rate Craft Wondrous Items (for headbands and belts and stuff of stat enhancement, cloaks of resistance and haversacks), Craft Arms & Armor (self-explanatory) and Craft Rod (metamagic rods) as the top three choices.
Rise of the Runelords doesn't seem to have as many convenient pauses in the action, to do that sort of thing, although you can check with Dabbler, to see how it will work in his game. He might be willing to build in some breaks for you to do crafting. Or he might hate the idea of you spending a feat and everybody's WBL for wondrous items is effectively doubled.
This is just my experience, but after I pick up Improved Initiative, Toughness and / or Augment Summoning, I pretty much don't care where my feats go for spellcasters. In the absence of cool stuff like 3.0s Reserve Feats, most spellcaster feats, IMO, are total crap anyway, so even if Marak never has a chance to craft another item, he's still gotten more use out of it than he would a metamagic feat (hate the mechanic) or Dodge or Power Attack or whatever. That is purely an artifact of my playstyle, though. Marak (like most of my Clerics) is a support cleric, not a front-line combat dude who would have a use for Power Attack or Dodge or whatever, so it might be more accurate to say that there are crap-all for feats that support my playstyle. :)

Thanks for the input, Set. I hadn't even been thinking about craft wondrous til hogarth suggested it. I guess part of my question is are there enough cool things you can make at third level.
Another feat I've been considering is Selective Channel. So far this party gets sandpapered a lot and it would be handy to be able to throw healing at multiple party members in a turn.
Improved initiative is a good idea too. I do like going first.
Summons. I probably don't do enough with them. Vaclav is a pretty straight-forward shoot'em dead kind of guy.

I put a list in my profile, one sec while I dig it up...
Here's the stuff that he has the spells for, on his Cleric list;
He'll be able to craft Belts of Giant's Strength +2 or Mighty Constitution +2, Headbands of Alluring Charisma +2 or Inspired Wisdom +2 as well (or Physical Might - Str + Con, or Mental Prowess - Wis + Cha). A +2 belt or headband is 2000 gp to craft, and one that gives +2 to Str+Con or Wis+Cha is 5000 gp to craft. (He'd need another caster present to be able to craft an item with +2 Dex or +2 Int, to cast Cat's Grace or Fox's Cunning.)
Cloaks of Resistance +1, also an option. 500 gp. to craft. Won't be able to make +2 cloaks until sixth level.
Pearls of Power (1st - 3rd level), 500 gp, 2000 gp or 4500 gp.
Others; Bottle of Air, Candle of Truth, Circlet of Persuasion, Minor Circlet of Blasting, Cube of Frost Resistance, Elixir of Truth, Gem of Brightness, Goggles of Night, Helm of Comprehending Languages and Reading Magic, Helm of Underwater Action, Horn of Fog, Horn of Goodness/Evil, Lantern of Revealing, Medallion of Thought, Periapt of Health, Phylactery of Faithfulness, Robe of Bones (naughty!), Silversheen, Sovereign Glue, Stone of Good Luck, Necklace of Prayer Beads (bless, healing), Sustaining Spoon, Unguent of Timelessness
Note that other stuff, that he lacks the prereq for, just adds +5 to the DC (and might be counterable with a second caster present to fill in blanks like Fox's Cunning or Cat's Grace).

Hey, sorry about not posting initiative - just had a really busy week and am struggling to catch up online. Did Kuva's turn get skipped in the first round? We can say that he was still sleeping.
oops. Rolled init for him and then didn't move. It's top of round 2 so you can still take your Round 1 actions.

Work, holidays and prepping visits by the in-laws is leaving me rather busy IRL. I'd like to put the game on hiatus for a bit.
I'll see you guys shortly after Christmas. Not sure of an exact date because my wife is planning a last minute holiday trip with my mother-in-law.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all.
