Chicago Nights(Vampire the Requiem)

So I have been playing around recently with the idea of running a NWoD game. I have plots written up and wonderful ideas to work through, but there are 2 things.
1. I'm not sure the interest for such a game would be a whole lot.
2. If I run a NWoD game, I would like player input as to what they would like the game to be. I can currently run, Mortal, Vampire, Werewolf, Changeling, and Geist.

So before I put up a official recruiting thread and such, I would like to ask people if they are interested and what kind of game they would like.

I have always been a fan of the World of Darkness (both incarnations) and would certainly be interested. Of the nWoD games, I would be most interested in Vampire, Mage (though sadly I noticed you did not mention that one), Changeling, and Mortals. Not real big on Werewolf, but I do have the book and Geist is one I never managed to pick up.

I have the Mage book and am familiar with the system, but have never run a Mage game before. So I'm kind of iffy on it.

Looking like almost no interest in this game lol.

Let me see if I can drum up some interest from another WoD game I'm in.

Interesting how is the system different in the NWoD?

Well, there is couple things like the loss of soaking damage and the addition of defense. Successes are always set at 8 and above on the d10 rolls with rolls of 10 being rolled again. If you don't have the necessary books, it would be difficult for you to apply, but I'm willing to work with it. I can send you snippet pdf versions of necessary rules of a system so you may familiarize yourself.

Totally interested. Usually prefer a Ventrue, who is fighting from within the masquerade to protect the world, humanity, etc... Like being part of a coterie, against some greater doom/threat.

I'd be interested if you run a Vampire game.

So Far It is looking like a Vampire game, as I have 3 people interested in that. Hopefully I can nab a few more.

I do not have any of the new materials.

VtR ok. Now the questions are Gangrel or Mekhet and Ordo Dracul or Circle of the Crone.

Hmmmm....choices, choices.

How different is this from the old WoD rules?

By and large the mechanics are very similar to what you are used to, just a bit streamlined.

Examples: still attribute + ability for most rolls, only this time all difficulties are set to 8; Attacks and Damage are all one role with soak being replaced by a defense rating that subtracts from the attacker's dice pool.

There are some significant changes, particularly within the rules for each type of supernatural. For instance, the concept of Generation is gone and has been replaced with Blood Potency (a stat that increases the longer you have been active sans torpor.)

The power level of the game as a whole seems to be generally lower than the original WoD.

I am interested as long as you're willing to have a noob.

I have the books, but I've never had the chance to play. As long as this isn't a problem, I'd love to play.

-Kcinlive

As it stands this is officially becoming a vampire recruitment thread then. I have 4 interested, and 2 who have no material but I may be able to help. for the ones who don't have material, send me your email via PM and I will email you some material to review on character creation as well as some on Vampire the Requiem.

For the 4 who have material, I am allowing all of the extras from the covenant specific books. Character creation will be with 0 XP. I will post the information on the current state of Chicago when I have a chance.

Go team.

Are we starting off as vampires or do you want to take us through a prelude as mortals first?

I want you to be vampire’s in the beginning, recently embraced and forced to find protection in the form of a coterie to the other players. I am not using the Chicago book for vampire characters, I have my own cast and laws, and Chicago in turn is a much more brutal and unforgiving place for Kindred.

Sounds good.

Anyone other then Talomyr have any ideas what type of character they want to play? I'm leaning towards Mekhet, blessed/cursed with high(for a starting character) Obfuscate. Almost to the point where he seems to be fading from reality altogether. That's my initial idea anyway.

Though I want to hear a bit more from other players and about the setting before I make up my mind. I'll do some reading tonight.

Ok. If Kcinlive is going Mekhet, that makes my decision easier. I'll make a Gangrel. Haven't decided for sure on the Covenent, but it will either be the Circle of the Crone or Ordo Dracul (currently leaning toward the Circle).

That's appealing to me. How many players are you looking for?

Checking back in with a character at least mechanically complete. It will be a day or two before I get the background story stuff done.

Alec McGowan

I'm making a Mekhet of the Circle of the Crone, he is a mystery writer and a computer genius.

Dotting for interest. I haven't had the chance to read up much on VtR, but I do have access to the books.

I'm thinking the second son (and former favorite) of a "family" man whose older brother tried to contract out a hit on. Was left dying when he was turned to save his life. He's having to fight the urge to return home, but manages to stay under the radar and have crash space over a bar where he earns money as a musician.

Yes, I would like a spot please working on character concept now. I'm thinking of a Daeva, Maybe a pro wrestler someone hiding in the public eye :) I'm excited about this. Are there any specific character creation rules you want us to follow?

Yeah pretty sure on Daeva, with Spina bloodlin, what about Invictus covenant. I will work on character tonight. I can post lots during the day.

I have the books, and would love to play. However, I've practically no experience with WoD and am somewhat busy. If there'd still be a spot open (no hard feelings if there isn't)- I may try my hand at playing a Malkov. I know they're hard to pull off, especially for new players, so storyteller's call on that.

Talomyr:
I think you may have an extra dot as far as abilities, Im seeing 5 points in both physical and social categories. Otherwise the character looks fine

There are nor special character creation rules. I will be posting information on the city this friday, so keep observant.

Cool, I'm kind of excited. I got the books last night, I will be putting them on my nook tonight so I can bring them to work. Will have character up tomorrow. Thanks for running this. I had so much fun playing in a OWD table top game untill it ended, have missed it ever since.

Do we all need to be part of the same covenant?

Trup:
5/4/3 split for creation. Vampires get 1 extra dot to place based on their clan. In the case of Gangrel it is either Stamina or Composure, thus the new 5/5/3 split.

Sent you a PM for the character creation rules.

No, you may be in different covenants. =

Sweet, Invictus it is. So excited, Sad I don't have books at work today.

This is what I have right now. I'll try to have the background up by tomorrow.

So I've been getting hammered at work and I've got a stupid busy weekend coming up. My brother's getting married. So it might be a few days before I get get a character posted. But I don't want to hold up the game, so feel free to start without me, or I can even drop out if you want. Though I'm not sure when you wanted to get started.

Sorry for the delay.

Short history up in the Campaign Info tab as well as a brief look at the covenants today.

@Seth - Looks good to me.

@Kcinlive - Don't worry, I only have two submitted characters so far so you still have plenty of chance to apply.

(Arknight here)
Ok, here's a first stab at J Michael Thorne...

Please let me know if missing anything, etc as is first V:TR character I've done...

Is it okay to play an unaligned gangrel associate/childe of wild eyed jack?

Did I say Wild Eye Jack was a Gangrel? Lol He is which is kind of funny. Yes you could be his childe, he has several childer that he has sired.

@J Micheal Thorne(Arknight) - The character looks good.

Be sure to begin wrting up your characters histories since the campaign info is posted. Just up to the point where you would join the coterie, the ones I pick can discuss their history in the coterie

Still a work in progress, but take a look.

OK so just to list Current submissions

Alec McGowan (Gangrel, Circle of the Crone)

Seth Clarkson (Mekhet, Circle of the Crone)

J Michael Thorne (Mekhet (Mnemosyne), Unaligned)

Matthew(Scott?) Crane (Mekhet, Ordo Dracul)

Soooo as seen we have quite a few Mekhet, So different clans would be welcome!

I am thinking about submitting, I might have something on Sunday.

What is the main book called for character creation? Is there a book of merits?

The main book is World of Darkness. It has all the main merits as well as rules for character creation.

Alright, how's this? Wasn't too sure about Wild Eye Jack, so not sure if this will fit.
Ash Jackson

Wasn't sure whether you wanted us all to buy city status 1

Titus is done, will be writing up back story tomorrow

Real life has happened to me as well. I won't be posting a submission- I will, however, be keeping an eye on this thread just in case.

Happy gaming, everyone.

Are you allowing the trade of humanity for exp.?

Yes I will allow Humanity to be traded for xp.
